Today was a perfect day for a soft serve as it was the first day of DST and sunny and warm in the Ciry. There are two ways to place your order - the kiosk or with a live person at the counter. I've done both. Today with a live person. My go to is the soft serve sundae with boba. 1/2 matcha and 1/2 vanilla. Today was not a good day. The vanilla was nonexistent as it was so runny. The matcha still had little bits of matcha powder. The boba was good. Hopefully it'll be more palatable next time.

3.5 stars 3/2/26 Matcha Maiko used to be one of my top matcha spots but there were some days where it taste not as strong as it used to be. I usually get matcha latte with cheese foam which is very heavy, but today I saw on their kiosk that they have matcha foam so I got that instead. Their strawberry puree is low quality jam, it is too syrupy yet the strawberry flavor isn't strong. The red beans are big, barely sweetened and not very soft. The matcha soft serve is always good but the monthly flavors haven't been very good lately. The kuromitsu boba is hit or miss, sometimes just big and mushy. Ordering via staff or kiosk- if you know what you want, ordering with staff is much faster if they're free to take your order. The monthly soft serve flavor of March 2026 is biscoff and black tea.

I got the Biscoff Matcha and it's by far my favorite drink to get here! This location is constantly busy but they get through the orders pretty quickly so service is great! This location is always clean and staff is very nice!

Best matcha Lattes ever!!! The banana one was so freaking delicious that I got another one.

Located in the food court on the second floor of the mall, it seems to always have a line, but I got my order quickly. I tried the strawberry matcha latte ($5.70 medium size) and hot matcha latte ($5.50 medium size). Both drinks were tasty, and the matcha had a vibrant green color.

One of my favorite soft serves! I love the creamy texture and the perfect balance of sweetness. Yum! :)

One of my favorite matcha places. Unlike many other matcha spots, their matcha lattes are sweetened. That's a big plus. They also will give you a free taste of one of their soft-serve flavors if you ask....I just haven't had a chance to ask for one yet because every time I go, when it's my turn to order, the kiosk tablet opens up. The only negative is that the line to order can get pretty long. But they turn around orders pretty quickly. One comment/suggestion...they need to dust their signage. The picture in my review is hanging over the waffle cone station.

Was craving something sweet while at the mall, and decided to get some matcha ice cream. Located right on the outskirts of the food court, there was a pretty long line when we stopped by at around 3-4pm. The wait is a bit of a drag, and that seems to be a theme for many of these restaurants that opt for tablet ordering + less human staff as a result. We waited at least 15-20 minutes after ordering for a simple soft serve with strawberry puree and found some seating in the chaos of the other food court patrons. The ice cream itself is pretty high quality, with a matcha-forward taste and smooth texture all around. This specific topping of strawberry puree may not be the most popular after scrolling through the reviews, but we were hoping for a taste reminiscent to the strawberry matcha latte's that have become popularized in many boba shops, but it fell a little short of that. The puree maybe needed a bit more sweetness to offset the earthiness of the matcha. Overall a solid choice though in the hustle and bustle of Stonestown when you are needing a little pick-me-up.

Was in stonestown mall after so long and was looking for something chilled and tasty to drink. Came across this spot by the food court and the look of it was highly interesting. The spot is clean and appears organized. The host was friendly. Elected to try their banana matcha latte and got excited for it. It didn't take long for it to be ready. And when I tasted it, it was the bomb. I enjoyed it very much!

Been looking forward to trying Matcha Cafe Maiko! This location is in the food court of the Stonestown Galleria. There was a long line when we walked past but it got a bit shorter later. Ordering was mostly done via the iPad, which really made the line move slower. It was much faster when the person was working the register. Service was not friendly but the workers were probably exhausted from how crazy busy they were. Got a small matcha tea float ($6.70), with matcha-vanilla soft serve. It was refreshing, especially given how warm the mall seemed to be with all the people. Wish there was one closer to me so I could try the soft serve in a cone!

I've been going to the Japantown location for years, and now the Chinatown and Stonestown locations if I'm in the area. Stonestown is the most convenient location because there's mall parking. I usually go with a matcha/hojicha tea latte or matcha float depending on the mood, and Maiko consistently has the best balance of matcha sand creaminess to it. I still liked it back then when they used to have a "less creamy" option where the matcha was a bit stronger, but no more. Still, I always tell others that Matcha Cafe Maiko is my standard in the Bay Area. They really ought to have a rewards system! Esp since prices have increased the past few years. So if you follow them on IG they will announce their "flavor of the month" and for this September, it's Thai Tea and Black Tea! I've been waiting for this all year since having the thai tea soft serve last year. I repeat! THAI TEA soft serve is awesome! Maiko staff, please read this and serve it more than once per year .

Order at the cashier or the tablet. Have been going since it's been open in 2019 and get their soft serve! There used not to be line, but Stonestown has gotten more popular, but the line somewhat slow for drinks. Line is only to order and they employees call by name. For soft serve flavors ($6.40 w/out tax and fees), there is always vanilla milk, matcha, half vanilla matcha, and 2/3 rotating or new flavors. Soft serve is not too sweet and great sencha flavor. Waffle cone is lovely too, buttery and crunchy. Hojicha latte ($4.30 large without tax/fee) had tasted watery, but still had the tea flavor. The menu has great variety, from matcha drink with soft serve, shaved ice with red bean & matcha soft serve to gold leaf soft serve. Don't want tea flavor items, get yuzu sparkler! All is delicious besides a few items that tend to be watery. Solid option for desert!

Got here before closing on a weekday evening and they were accommodating! There was still a line of people a few minutes before closing, and they were still welcoming of orders. My friend and I got their Hojicha Frappe and Matcha Latte. When I forgot to add oat milk to my drink, they were easily able to change it for me. I loved the earthy taste of their Hojicha Frappe, and it was not too sweet. The Matcha Latte had a slightly stronger taste than how I remembered (at the Japantown location), but was still delicious. We finished our drinks pretty quickly, giving us energy for the rest of the night. Service is fast and friendly; another great Matcha Cafe Maiko location in SF!

Ask the Community - Matcha Cafe Maiko

Does this location have Birthday Treats?

Really don't know! You can call and ask but they have a variety of items on their menu. You would have to eat there or it will melt.

I didn't see strawberry matcha latte on the menu. Is that still being sold?

Yes that is still on our menu. Thank you!

Is the soft serve vegan/can it be made vegan?

Im really sorry but our soft serve cannot be made vegan, at least not at the moment. However, all of our drinks can be modified to be dairy free using almond milk or soy milk. Hope that helps answer your question. Have a great day!

Are you planning to open one in daly city hopefully in serramonte mall?

Believe I saw a sign for the option of purchasing just the matcha powder; just wondering what was the price/oz? Thanks!

I just bought it and it was $15/50g which is ~1.76 oz

Any non dairy options?

All our drinks can be made with soy milk or almond milk. Hope to see you soon!! Thank you!

The drink took about 25-30 minutes to be prepared so don't come in a hurry!! I inserted the straw into the bottom of my cup and sucked. Nothing came out. I had to suck with more strength, due to the thick consistency of the drink. Finally, a gelatinous, slimy and sort of sweet substance came out of the tip of the straw. You do have to work for it due to the thickness of the drink, it's not liquidy. The actual matcha had a strong and smooth taste but to be honest was a little too concentrated which made it a bit astringent. This drink was truly a journey for the mouth. Usually a drink is about taste but this one was much more about tactility, or at least that's how it felt. Unfortunately the substance seemed to leave a strange metallic, unpleasant aftertaste that lasted for quite a while after finishing the drink. Texture: interesting taste:2.5 , it was new to me but i wouldn't have it again aftertaste : gross The next drink ordered was some sort of blue mango coconut concoction. Every menu item had a grandiose name so i'm not sure the exact one but it was a mango coconut slush. They white jelly substance was back and taking charge in the bottom of the drink. Along with the strange substance was a plethora of white tasteless balls. Not like traditional boba, but not bad. the flavor of the drink was good, a bit too coconuty for my liking but it was fine. The real problem was the radio of (balls + substance) : drink... way too high! i barley had any sips that had more drink then texture additives. The taste was good, but texture was off, and my stomach was not too happy after ingesting the whole thing in about 10 minutes.

I would recommend ordering online 30 minutes prior as there is always a line…read more The coconut mango boom is a very refreshing, but light drink to satisfy the sweet tooth Highly recommend

Given that, it doesn't escape me that it took just a matter of months for my next visit to happen again. No real rhyme or reason as to why it didn't take nearly as long this time, but I'd be lying if I said that the Ube Halo Halo we tried didn't have something to do with it. While it ultimately wasn't what we ordered, the memory of what we had definitely got us excited to try more when my friends suggested coming here! Compared to the location over on Geary (and the one in Westminster, for what it's worth), this Bambu is better in just about every way. Sure, it helps that it's still relatively new (they opened about eight months ago?), but it's undoubtedly cleaner, feels a whole lot brighter, is a bit more conveniently located, and, most significantly, has way more parking available nearby. As for the menu, it had pretty much all of the usual offerings that you'd expect to find at any of their locations - che desserts, milk tea, fruit teas, waffles, macarons, and Vietnamese coffee. -- MANGO HALO HALO - Green Jello Base with Coconut Meat, Coconut Milk, Red Tapioca, Jackfruit, Egg Pudding, Crystal Boba, Mango Jelly, Pandan Jelly, Nata de Coco, and Topped with Mango Ice Cream While it didn't impress quite like the Ube Halo Halo did, this was still really good. Between all of the mangos (vs ube) and jellies, this felt a lot fruitier and lighter. However, it also didn't feel quite as creamy as the Ube one did, which I kind of missed. -- VIETNAMESE EGG COFFEE Sadly, the coffee is a pre-made mix, so they weren't able to modify the sweetness, but I appreciate that they added plain coffee to help dilute it. Even then, though, this ended up being really sweet. Loved how creamy the egg foam made this, though. Despite how I genuinely like this particular Bambu, I don't know how often I would come back since I don't typically crave che desserts and other places usually come to mind first when I think of where to get milk tea. However, should the urge or occasion arise to go to a Bambu again, I wouldn't hesitate to come back to this one, especially so that I can give their Yoonami Drinks, Smoothies, and Ube Mochi Waffle a try!
