Was in the neighborhood and wanted try a new boba shop, so we stopped by Milktopia. The shop is cute, and they have a giant kiosk for ordering. There was only one person working there, and a few customers inside when we arrived. We tried their soft serve and Jasmin boba tea. The softserve was a ok, but man their boba drink was really bad. Sorry, not my cup of tea It tasted synthetic, and the boba were hard and flavorless. Not sure why they got such high ratings. Definitely not worth the money I paid.
This place is so cute and the soft serve was so yummy! Texture was amazing (super thick and chewy), and the milkyness and sweetness level was perfect! Pairing it with an egg waffle was the move. Service was a bit slow though. Our egg waffle took a while (we wished the guy prepped that first THEN the soft serve), and we were the only ones there...And I wish it was crispier on the outside (hence the 4 stars). This is still a solid place to come though, and we'll probably be back to try more flavors!
I really enjoyed my time visiting Milktopia! I've always seen it but this was my first time going in. I was really hoping for a regular matcha but after talking to who I think the owner is, I decided on the strawberry crema. I went to another bubble tea shop close by and I won't name names, but they were not very nice. Walking into Milktopia & having the person working/or owner (not sure who it was) but she was a very very sweet lady and explained what the crema was to me. She was very kind and that is what I really appreciate and sold me on this place. Not only that but the drink was fantastic!!! So glad I listened to her. Can't wait to come back here and support this business more. I really wish I got her name as she was lovely!
We ordered the passion fruit lychee and the salty egg egg puff. They both tasted good. The tea is nothing special for the price. We looked forward to the salty egg egg puff. It does taste good and the salty egg flavor did not overwhelm but it wasn't cooked well. It was still soft when they took it out and couldn't even sit up straight inside the paper bag. Could have been better.
What did I just pay for?! I paid over $8 for a tiny shake and it was disgusting. I was already in shock when they handed me the small drink. For $7-8 (including a 4% surcharge and tip), you'd think you would get a large sized drink? That thing was tinier than ever! I would be able to justify paying that much for a drink if it at least tasted good. Super disappointed! Please learn to make better drinks at an appropriate size if you're going to be charging so much for them.
Located in the Parkside neighborhood, Milktopia is a small unassuming storefront; however, once you step inside you're greeted with a wide array of tea beverages, snacks and soft serve options - something for everyone! Inside Milktopia, ordering can be done either with one of their employees or at the kiosk. Seating isn't plentiful in the store, which makes sense given the size; however, there are four bar stool style seating available for those of you wanting to enjoy your selections. Otherwise, most patrons often take their goodies to-go and enjoy them while strolling around the area. I ordered their mango pomelo sago, the HK silky milk tea, and the salty egg puff. Mango pomelo sago is a personal go-to drink of mine, and I'm happy to share that the one crafted by Milktopia tastes just as good as any of my favorites. The HK silky milk tea was authentic, although I will note they use evaporated milk (as opposed to the usual condensed milk) so the drink is a little less sweet than it normally is, which could be a bonus to some. Their egg puffs are freshly made and take about 10 or so minutes to prepare. Their salty egg puff was a delicious mix of savory and sweet flavors, and they also have other unique egg puff flavors including oreo, boba, and meat floss (which I'll definitely be back to try in the future). If you're in the Parkside area and are looking for your next best boba stop, then I highly recommend giving Milktopia a try!
When you enter, there's a kiosk for ordering. The inside of the shop is quite small, but there are four high stools available for seating. There were two people in front of me when I arrived a little after 2pm on Saturday. After placing my order, I sat on one of the stools to wait for my drink. From the time I arrived to when I got my drink, it took about 30 minutes, which felt like a long wait. There were two staff members making drinks behind the counter, and a third person joined later. I ordered a Jasmine Green Milk Tea with 25% sweetness. The boba had a good texture but did lack a bit of flavor. Overall, the drink was decent. It was more on the lighter side than rich, so it wasn't the creamiest. The tea had a good fragrance.
I tried their Paradise Island Fruit Tea and Mango Pomelo Sago drink. The paradise drink was pretty good & refreshing, it had a nice tea flavor. I added boba to this drink and their boba was slightly hard in the middle. Also, the drink didn't have enough boba for it be an extra 80 cents charge. On the other hand, their Mango Pomelo Sago drink was delicious! It was like a mango slushie. This drink included crystal boba and sago. Their crystal boba had a better texture than their regular boba.
I love coming here for their egg puffs. They also have a variety of drinks to choose from. Hong Kong style menu. I asked the owner and he's from Hong Kong so it makes it even better. Their honey soft serve was pretty good too. I'll come back to try their spamasubis and other egg puffs. I really recommend their original egg puff.
A friend of mine recommended the HK Silky Milk Tea here, so I gave it a try while in the area. The drink was very rich and creamy! The perfect balance for my palate. A classic strong black tea flavor that I adore. The caffeine was also pretty hefty too. Kept me awake for a good while. KEEP IN MIND: Taraval doesn't have any parking really. So definitely aim to park in a nearby neighboorhood. There's also no seating inside. Takeout only!
After dining at the nearby Happy Family Chinese restaurant for lunch, we were looking for dessert. Milktopia was such a great find! It's a little different from most boba restaurants in that they offer soft serve. The vanilla ice cream soft serve with boba was good. The boba had an excellent texture. Cooked all the way through, soft, bouncy, good size-not too small, and nicely chewy. I've never seen a boba filled puff waffle before and had to have it. I haven't ordered a puff waffle in a while. Milktopia's waffle was unexpectedly nice and chewy, not dry like other puff waffles I've tried previously. The boba was great. The boba are unevenly spread out of course, so it becomes a fun surprise when you get a puff filled with a lot of them. The waffle and the ice cream went well together. The employee was nice. He had about ten drinks to make after us, so the wait will vary. If you pay with a credit card then there's an extra fee, so I paid with cash. There's some metered street parking and some neighborhood spots, but it's one of the neighborhoods where a lot of spots are too small except for fiats fyi. I didn't try any of the milk tea, drinks, or spam musubi, but for the boba waffle alone it is worth the visit.
Needed a caffeine fix and kiddo wanted to try this place. Quite a long list of items to choose from, and glad they noted their best sellers. So, we decided on the Oolong Crema and Yin Yang Oolong. The crema comes with Oolong tea jelly and I added it to the Yin Yang drinks as well. For me, 25% sweetness was perfect - just enough sweetness. I really like grass jelly and never tried Oolong tea jelly, which I liked. Enjoyed the Yin Yang Oolong. Kiddo seemed to like the Oolong crema. Prices comparable to most other tea places. The egg puffs looked interesting, but when did they become so pricey?!?
Newbie popped in for a boba drink on Taraval Street. Location is clean, bright and welcoming. Counter person was nice, gracious and helpful. Usually go for a passion fruit tea with boba but was transfixed by the Taro Milk Tea w/ boba. The lid is quaint with a little on/off cap that fits the straw. Loved the tea, not too sweet with that toasty taro flavor! Will be back when in the neighborhood to try the rest of the drink menu! Taraval Street is rife with road construction at this end. Parking is doable if challenging under these circumstances. Try to travel on Ulloa to get back/forth to the businesses on Taraval. The Taraval Street merchants need customer support during this construction period.

Tried the OREO ice cream egg puff & a jasmine milk tea with boba and lychee jelly. I asked for the ice cream to be separate from the egg puff (less messy) and the staff member said sure, even though they don't really do that. Total cost was around $18 before tip. It took about 12 min for the order to come out. There are only about 4 seats inside. The egg puff was good & tasted fresh. The ice cream is good but I think I prefer the plain flavor. The soft serve has a great flavor. The milk tea was okay, the boba is on the firmer side. I would come back for an egg puff & ice cream but would likely get boba from somewhere else. read more

Taraval really has every boba shop imaginable fighting for survival, but Milktopia actually stands out. The Doritos Spam Musubi had absolutely no business being that good. Crunchy, salty, chaotic perfection. And the drink was fire too - tasted like actual tea instead of straight sugar syrup. In the middle of all the Taraval milk tea competition, this spot definitely holds its own. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards! read more

We ordered off a kiosk and got an egg puff with their oreo soft serve on the side. We waited about 10 minutes since they were making the egg puff fresh. The place is small and they have a bar with about 4 seats. The egg puff with the soft serve was yummy, would recommend that. The boba on the other hand wasn't my favorite. I got 50% sugar but my drink wasn't sweet at all. The boba was on the chewier side so overall my drink was not great. Would probably try a different boba spot since there are many on Taraval, but the dessert was still good. read more

Bought my daughter an egg puff Oreo crunch. She says it's not a traditional soft serve - tastes more like ice cream, but it's still yummy. Decent service in a tiny well lit shop with posters and order screens. Besides drinks and soft serve, they also have Spam musubi. read more

Liquid calories -- the one dessert category my bf & I can agree on. On the way back to our car after picking up lunch nearby, we came across Milktopia, a small shop with an extensive drink menu as well as soft serve, egg puff waffles, & a variety of spam musubi. My Strawberry Lemon Burst was delicious & refreshing; floral from the tea & sweet from the muddled strawberries. His piña colada had a good amount of flavor & even though it was icy instead of creamy, it didn't taste watered down. $13.50 for two drinks. Not a speedy visit; only one person taking orders & making drinks (I'd hate to think what the wait would be with a couple customers ahead of us!) Four colorful stools serve as the only seating so plan to take your drinks & snacks to-go. Parking in the area is made worse by the current construction on this block of Taraval. read more

After shopping and grabbing brunch at a diner down the street, my friends and I were craving for something sweet! We saw that this place was grand opening (not sure how long it had the banner lol) but we all wanted to be adventurous and try something new! I thought it was interesting this place serviced not only milk tea but soft serve ice cream and egg puffs! I got the original egg puffs(5.50) and it's a 5/5! It was so warm and crispy at the perfect temperature! Additionally I ordered the oolong milk tea ($6) that included boba which was super soft! I rate this drink a 3/5 because the drink tasted a bit watery to me and I didn't have a lot of ice in my drink. read more

Is Milktopia a utopian dream or a dystopian nightmare? I don't think anybody is asking the question except me, but by slapping "topia" onto the name, the owner is saying that milk is the be-all of everything sold in this shop. I saw green teas on the menu, so I'm not sure about that, but hey, it was catchy enough for me to stop by as I was walking on Taraval. I was happy to see it's not all about the boba here. Listen, I may be Asian, but I'm not gaga over bubble tea. They do offer a full slate of soft serve with toppings options which made me think I was indeed in a milktopia. I tried the $6.50 Milk & Honey which swirled in wildflower honey, and it hit the spot (photo: https://bit.ly/3UuijNF). I was back a few weeks later and tried the more decadent $6.50 Nutella Choco with a sprinkling of corn flakes (photo: https://bit.ly/3zs897W). I liked it but recognized I belong in the land of milk and honey which according to my GPS, is in Milktopia. This is one of the best milk tea spot in SF. I love all their Oreo drinks here I like how they make the drinks real smooth. And this place is cheap for boba and food here way better spending over $10 or $20 dollars at some other boba place. I hope they build more Milktopia in Oakland Hayward Fremont & more cities in the Bay Area. read more

BEST EGG WAFFLES EVERRRRRRRR I got the oreo one and it was perfectly crisp (as long as you eat them right away). I've had my fair share of egg waffles around the Bay Area and I have to say this one takes the cake (or the waffle?). Omggggg so yummm I wanna try others. The honey + milk soft serve was also good but overshadowed by the egg waffle for sure. Sad they replaced the Super Cue but I think it's a worthy replacement. read more

Milktopia recently opened on Taraval to satisfy your ice cream and boba tea and coffee drink needs. They don't have a lot of choices like other drink shops but "specialize" in 10 fined-tuned drinks and 8 ice cream concoctions. We ordered drinks on a warm day - the Yin-Yang Oolong with added boba and the Lychee Jelly Yogurt Green Tea drink. We were satisfied with what we ordered and also had a nice conversation with the newly hired staff. We liked that the young people working the front were well-spoken and friendly - good hires as some other boba shops are staffed with young people who are verbally challenged and just don't want to be there....will be back for the ice cream.... read more

When I needed to find something to drink, I found the store I found out their ice cream is from California farms so I decided to order the Oreo Choco cream puff and mango sago. I always go to different stores to try out their mango sago but this one in particular is very good. It's it is in my top five favorite mango Sagos. The sago is just perfect not too sweet and then a mango refresh. I like the store I'm gonna come in again. read more
Welcome to the neighborhood Milktopia! I've seen several places come and go at this location, but I do think you have potential! The worker mentioned they're quite new, having only had their soft opening last weekend. They had to message their boss and confirm whether they accept American Express (I didn't have enough cash on me) and good news, they do! Shop is small but clean. Menu is also limited, but you have options in both boba and soft serve. I doubt they make their soft serve with Strauss (y'all should consider that ::hint hint::), but they didn't look bad at all. I got myself a paradise island fruit tea, light on the ice and normal on sugar for $6.50 + tax which came out to $7-something - a little steep for me, but oh well. Great flavor in the tea and refreshing on a summer day, especially when you were disappointed with your previous attempt at boba (see my review on Foam Teahouse). My only suggestion is to brew some stronger tea and it would have been perfect. The notes of jasmine in the green tea would have paired wonderfully with the apple, mango, passion fruit, orange, and lime, but unfortunately, the tea wasn't coming through in the drink. Price and tea-wise, a solid beverage and a spot that I would revisit again. read more
Milktopia offers milk tea, egg puffs and soft serve desserts. It is located within the Parkside District on Taraval St (between 21st and 22nd). If I'm not mistaken, it may have been the old Supercue location (RIP). I was excited to try the Affogato Soft Serve since I was in a coffee mood, but changed my mind and ordered the HK Silky Classic Milk Tea. It took about a good 10 minutes waiting with one customer ahead of me with a 2 drink order order. Not too shabby. My drink was aromatic and somewhat floral. It tasted smooth as silk! Based on my experience, I'm gonna try their Thai Tea and finally their Affogato! read more

I got their number one drink (Mango Pomelo Sago) since I love the one from Yifang, but it didn't really live up to my expectations! Maybe I'd come back and try other things next time, but not get this one. The menu is pretty extensive, and there's also food and snacks. The drink was really pricey too ($9!!) and they wouldn't help me split it into two cups but still sold me a cup and lid for $0.25 haha. read more
