Cute cafe located near Park Merced with matcha and Vietnamese coffee options! I came here with a friend to study and grabbed the Classic Matcha. The matcha was lightly sweetened. I would come back and try their other drinks! We were able to grab a table in the back; it got super sunny and hot inside. There was limited seating though but wifi was solid. read more

Just moved to the area and happened to stumble upon this gem while returning my U-Haul next door. I love how cozy this lil spot is. Right next to SF state too! The drink menu was definitely captivating as it had the staples for sure- variations of the matcha latte, variations of Vietnamese coffee, and then fruity milk teas. Yum! I ordered the strawberry milk tea, aka "Pink Velvet". Super refreshing, not too sweet. Little pink jellies swimming in there also. In fact, I was writing this review the first time I came into this cafe and never finished it. I'm back again today and finally posting this! 10/10, gotta try Jade & Java! I've always wanted to try their matcha since they have so many different flavors. From original matcha to OG Vietnamese coffee. i came for the matcha and I ordered two different ones: matcha with banana cream & matcha with crème brûlée cream. I asked the employee if the drinks are super sweet or mild, and she recommended me to get regular sugar. I love the both because it's not too sweet like she recommended. You can definitely taste the matcha even at 100% sweetness. read more

The drinks were just okay. I was happy to try a new matcha and viet coffee place in this area! I got a banana cream matcha to try. The drinks came out quickly. The matcha tasted rather powdery and not top-quality, similar to culinary grade matcha powders. The saving grace of the drink was definitely the banana cream. It was so creamy and tasted like real bananas. It immensely improved the drink and slightly overpowered the matcha which was good imo. The less sweet option was a perfect amount of sweetness for me. As for the price point, it runs on the more expensive end ($8.10 with tax included). I would not get the matcha again at this price given the quality. Seating and indoor anesthetics were nice and looked like a good study spot. Overall, I would come back to try the viet coffee, but I hope they can get better matcha. read more

Stumbled across this cafe near SF state. The interior is pretty cute, decorated with greenery and there's many tables to sit at (could be a study spot). There's an automated kiosk that you can place your order at. We got the: - strawberry sunsetski : mango tea and strawberry puree - strawberry matcha : I got the less sweet option with oat milk. It didn't taste too authentic or strong in terms of Matcha flavor. Additionally, the strawberry purée on the bottom just tasted like muddled strawberries. Points for fresh strawberries but the two didn't taste well integrated to me - passionfruit orange: nothing crazy, tasted like watered down sweetened orange juice If I could give the shop 3.5 stars out of 5, that's what my rating would be. I think for the options offered in this area, it's a nice addition. In terms of drink taste and price point, I would probably look elsewhere. read more

We ordered the strawberry matcha and the slated cream top matcha. Both were very solid and not very sweet (which is my preference). They allow sweetness adjustments so if you want it to be sweeter you could totally do that. Mad props to the store for using real strawberry for their matcha. When you drink it, you get a good amount of chunks. The salted cream top was my favorite out of the two and I would definitely get that again. read more

Came here during their grand opening and was very impressed with the ambiance and aesthetic. There's iPads for self-service ordering, but the staff is still very attentive, friendly, and welcoming. I was beyond satisfied with my strawberry matcha. You can tell from the first sip that they only use quality ingredients. Fair pricing for quality and size of the drink. This is definitely a place where you can hang out too, there's bar tables and lounge chairs. Plus their music playlist is great. A great location for students. They also serve some snacks and desserts. I'll definitely be stopping by again whenever I'm in the area! read more

Jade and java is a great spot for exclusively Vietnamese coffee with a twist that the Peninsula has lacked for quite some time. Between blue bottle and all the rest, we have plenty of European style coffees...almost too much to choose from. However, for years the Vietnamese coffee seen has been relegated to whatever you can find at your local Pho place . Anything else would be have you driving all the way to San Jose. Not anymore! We ordered the black sesame cream coffee. Between the rich coffee flavor and subtle black sesame cream it made a delicious combination we haven't had elsewhere. My only gripe was that it could use more cream. Definitely looking forward to my return and sampling the other coffees. read more

I like their matcha, ordered strawberry matcha with an extra shot and I really felt the difference! The banana Vietnamese coffee is good. I like their Vietnamese coffee but the banana cream sits at the top. You can leave it and try it or mix it but either way its a mild flavor. Wish there was an option to order more banana cream. Despite ordering at the machine, the baristas were soooo friendly... So much friendlier than anyone in the area... I love the cute girlies who were working on the day I went. Ambiance is clean and modern. I would go again, but I assume there is no reliable parking at peak times. It won't stop me though! Since I ordered both of strawberry matcha and banana Vietnamese coffee, when i finished both halfway, I mixed it and made some delicious slop. I think it was fun to drink but the caffeine was so strong I was tweaking out. 10/10 would do this all again read more

The over all place was cute, with a small selection to sit down and enjoy your drinks. The overall drinks were a 3.5 rating i couldn't really taste the banana cold foam on top of both. The service was good I was greeted upon arrival and the staff were nice. They were playing some good music while there which gave it a nice vibe. Matcha was perf, banana cream was fresh and didn't have artificial banana taste: 9.5/10. Pricey? Yes, but enjoyed my drink so it was worth it. Will be coming back to try the crème brûlée matcha or even one of the coffee drinks. Overall is a nice space with comfy chairs, wifi, bathroom, and nice ambiance, but failed to find any outlets for longer lock in sessions :( read more

We decided to get 3 different drinks here to see the range of how good their offerings were. The three drinks we got were the Banana dream, Salted cream matcha, and the O.G Vietnamese coffee. The best drink was the Vietnamese coffee! It was both strong and perfectly sweet. I wish we had gotten 2 of these! Unfortunately the other two drinks were not the best. The banana dream had a strong jasmine flavor but the banana tasted artificial which clashed with how strong the tea was. The normal sugar level in this drink is also a bit too sweet as well. I think this drink can be good, there just needs to be tweaking to the recipe. The matcha was our least favorite. The foam was very thin and tasted okay. It was different from other foams I've had. I'm not sure if this is a different foam than a cheese foam but this one is strictly savory. The matcha itself did have a weird flavor. It did end up tasting like seaweed a bit. This could be due to the salted cream + matcha mixing, creating a savory drink = an unexpected flavor profile. I really wanted to like this one! This spot has kind staff, great ideas and good coffee. I do hope that they can revisit some of the recipes or have more consistency with how the drinks are being made. If you're coming here the coffee is the way to go! read more

Y'allllll this was the BEST banana matcha I've tried so far! I rated it a 9/10 (I wish they offered lactaid milk instead of oat or other substitute)!! My friend rated her strawberry matcha 8/10, she liked it just didn't like that it was strawberry puree. Service was superb, barista was super nice and even guided me on how to make the banana foam at home so good. This is more of a spot where you get your matcha and go, they do have 3 tables inside but it's not giving a cafe you work and study at. So happy that there's finally a good matcha spot on this side of town in SF! Must try! read more

Finally a place in San Francisco that has matcha with banana cream. It is SO GOOD. I've also tried the Vietnamese coffee with salted cream that is similar to the salted coffee from phin cafe in the South Bay. Warning that the coffee is strong but that's exactly how I like it. I'm so excited to have a place like this so I don't have to drive down to SJ. I wish they were open earlier than 11am. read more

I recently ordered a DoorDash from here and their delivery system is great, special bags so the drinks don't fall over, sealed cups to avoid spilling, very thoughtful to give the best experience. I rarely leave reviews, but this place was honestly disappointing. If you're looking for something that tastes mostly like milk and sugar, you might enjoy it. As someone who's tried a lot of matcha spots, this was easily one of the worst I've had. There was no umami flavor at all., just plain sweetness. The syrup was good, the ambiance was cute, and the service was great, so it's not all bad. Unfortunately, the matcha itself was the letdown. Happy to see a new drink place open up where I frequently go to get my brows touch up. It's nice to see something new in this plaza. Bonus that they have lots of matcha and coffee drinks! Two of my favorites but with the variety hard for me to choose which also means I have to come back often to try all of them. I ordered a black sesame matcha for my first drink and the drink came out quick with a friendly greeting. Not too sweet just the way I like it with the perfect amount of black sesame and matcha flavors. The cafe was nice and clean but I didn't have time to stay. Service was above and beyond. The staff were very kind and welcoming. They were sufficient with making the drinks and ensured that if we needed any adjustments, to let them know. We tried the banana matcha, banana coffee, lavender matcha and coconut matcha. All of them had a great balance between the base and additional flavor. My personal favorite was the banana coffee as I like it strong with a hint of sweet. I would've loved a place like this for when I went to school here! read more

Would love to give this place 5 stars but their business hours are terrible. This location is in need of a morning coffee spot but they don't open until 930am which forces us to bring our business elsewhere. However if you get a chance to swing by their coffee is good with a variety of flavors. Their prices are on the high side but when you visit 1-2x year it will be worth it. read more

we've heard a lot of great things about heytea and wanted to see if it lived up to the hype! the…read moreshop can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends or evenings, but i've been lucky a few times with no line at all. you can also order for pickup on the app instead, which saves you the wait, but keep in mind that the estimated pickup time can be incorrect when it's busy. i once waited ~40 minutes for an order that was supposed to be done in 15 minutes. heytea has a limited menu, and they also have a fun seasonal menu. i noticed that some of the drinks aren't part of the seasonal menu but are eventually discontinued. - crisp grape boom (3.5/5): tasted like fresh red grapes, although i would've liked even more of a grape flavor. it was like a half-melted popsicle, and i thought it would've tasted better if it were all one consistency - either a slush or a juice. i did like the grape bits in it! - mango grapefruit boom (3.5/5): i enjoyed how fresh the mango flavor was, but there wasn't that much mango in the drink. it was full of toppings, especially the coconut pudding and sago, and it tasted mostly like coconut. there was some grapefruit pulp, but not a ton. it would've been great with more mango, but i did still enjoy it. this was also more watery than most mango sago drinks i've had - coconut mango boom (5/5): this had an even balance between coconut and mango, which i loved. there was a huge difference in flavor between the mango grapefruit and the coconut mango boom, even though the only difference was supposed to be the grapefruit. i could actually taste the mango in this one, and the texture was a lot more consistent! - supreme brown sugar bobo milk tea (4/5): very light for a brown sugar milk tea but also didn't really taste like one. i could taste the black milk tea flavor more than brown sugar. there was some initial brown sugar flavor where it pooled at the bottom, but then it disappeared. the cheese cloud topping was really tasty - lightly sweet and salty. i didn't think the drink was too sweet at regular sweetness, but i could've gotten it less sweet. the brown sugar bobo (boba) was chewy but really on the softer end - matcha cloud jasmine latte (4.5/5): really great jasmine flavor, but the matcha was very subtle. even though it was only in the cloud foam, i would've liked to taste it a bit more. it was very light for a milk tea and perfectly sweet at less sweet - green grape boom [seasonal] (4.5/5): i liked this one more than the crisp grape boom because it tasted more strongly of grapes. it was also watery but more of a slush than the crisp grape boom. i loved the chunks of green grapes in it! - mulberry strawberry boom [seasonal] (4/5): good fruity flavor, which was light and perfectly sweet. i personally didn't enjoy it as much because of the tartness and because the seeds would get caught in my teeth, but it was exactly as advertised. it did have a prominent mulberry flavor and lots of pulp if ordering on the app, toppings are added at the very bottom by tapping on the topping and then adding it to a drink. the brown sugar bobo (boba) is softer than what i like, but it's still chewy and not bad. the fat-free bobo pops (crystal boba) are good, and the clouds (creams) are fairly thick and creamy. overall, heytea uses fresh high quality ingredients, but i do think it's a little overhyped. i enjoy how light the drinks taste, but i don't find myself craving them that often. however, i appreciate the calorie counts and ingredients list for each drink on the app, and i find myself checking for new drinks every so often.

This is hands down one of the best coffee shops around! The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out with friends, relaxing, or even pulling up with some cars to chill. The coffee and service are always top-notch, and you can tell the people here truly care about creating a welcoming vibe. I also want to clear something up, there have been some negative rumors floating around about racism, and let me say from my own experience: that is completely false. The owner is one of the kindest people I've met, and Calvin is just as genuine. They always treat everyone with respect and go out of their way to make people feel comfortable. If you're looking for a place with great drinks, good people, and a fun, friendly environment, this is it. The strawberry matcha was tasty, but there are good varieties from matchas, coffee, and teas. If you're a car person, and enjoy meeting people from the car community this is also a nice spot. The owners, Amy and Calvin (and family) are very welcoming. I came to visit with a friend and my boyfriend during opening, and we immediately looked at each other like, "yo this is fire". They tried the strawberry matcha, and I tried the lavender matcha. They went for seconds, it was THAT good. Service is very warm and welcoming, as well as the vibes in the cafe. It's a huge size and they're really generous with the mango and sago and ambience was also really pleasant. The atmosphere was welcoming. The overall experience felt warm and enjoyable. The service was quick and super easy to order. I recommend!

I've had their mango sago drink twice and love this. Their panna cotta is good. Most recently, when the craving hit for warm waffles and ice cream, I ordered the mochi waffle with strawberry ice cream. Surprisingly, when asked if I wanted it in a "cup" or "to go" I didn't know the "to go" portion was twice the size of a "cup" though. The wording could have been clearer.
