I dropped by while I was in the neighborhood on a Friday. It was brightly lit inside with one customer other than myself, so it was quiet at around noon. I've had Cherry Blossom Bakery egg tarts before and really enjoyed them! The crust is perfectly flaky and the custard is lightly sweetened. SO YUMMY!!! Great as a dessert or snack! I've had my share of egg tarts and I think the ones Cherry Blossom makes are one of my favorites in the city. The lady who helped me was nice and efficient. There were many other delectable pastries in the display case, but I intentionally came for egg tarts. I'll have to come back and try other things, but I would still include egg tarts! I ordered a few egg tarts this time. I ate one fresh, but stored some in the refrigerator for a few days in an air tight container. They still looked good after 2 days! Amazing!! Many times I would do the same with other egg tarts from other bakeries and the next day, you would see a crack in the middle, wrinkly custard, or the custard would peel away from the crust. But no problem with these! They store well and taste heavenly! Oh, and they were $2 each. 5 stars!!!
The cakes here are so good. One of the better Asian cakes in the area. Sponge cake is light and fluffy and most important... not too sweet. I've tried many of the cakes from here and they are all so tasty. Service is quick and good. The inside is your typical Asian bakery ambiance, display case with all the goods. Highly recommend for an Asian cake. Mixed fruit cake and mousse cake is all so tasty, especially the mango.
My beloved bakery of choice. They have great cakes and an enormous selection of baked goods. The bread is always fresh and wonderful. I actually found this bakery when I was DoorDashing for someone's order, and have been coming back since! Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards!
Came on a Saturday around 12:10p and was the start of the lunch rush. Parking can be tough but there are lots of metered and residential spots to fight for. The line moved pretty quickly. I do wish they had a menu posted on the side so first-timers like me could decide without blocking the displays. Tried a few pastries: -BBQ pork bun - they also have mini ones -Scallion & ham - smelled amazing and tasted just as good -Curry beef bun - light but in the best way, my favorite Also got the Jasmine milk tea with boba which was chewy and bouncy, really refreshing. Everything fit nicely in the pastry box (minus my drink) with room to spare. They take Zelle, card, and cash. The cakes looked great too (you can preorder those).
Egg tart- pretty standard, nice filling with short crust pastry. Very tender Red bean pineapple bun - excellent, bread was soft and warm, cookie crust was crisp and flaky, and filling amount was perfect. I love that they have little mini versions so you can get a few.
Still my favorite location to buy Mini Bbq pork buns, Mini hot dog buns to share with people. But my personal favorite is the raisin bun and onion bun. Their buns are by far the best I have tasted. Not too salty and not too sweet. Parking is a hit or miss but their service is always wonderful.

Came in to cherry blossom to do their cake tasting. The lady service us was kind and offered us to sit and have some tea. We tried the mango mousse, chocolate mousse, cappuccino, and strawberry mousse along with their strawberry cream cake. We ended up sticking with the mixed fruitcake and strawberry cream cake. If you order a 3 tiered cake, you can choose up to 3 flavors. The weekend prior we bought their fruitcake for Mother's Day and thought the cake was decent and decided to order our wedding cake here.
I spend thousands of dollars at the bakery each year buying buns and cakes for my family and friends and as a reward for a high spender like me.. I recently received a free bday sponge cake. Love it how they rewards their loyal customers with a generous gift but it's not good as it looks. I ordered this bday cake for my family member and had the most pleasure of discovering the components of the cake. Fruit is fresh, cake tastes fresh however, why do I feel they are skimping out of the sponge cake? Every cake I order from them, I am instantly reminded of how skimpy there are but every time that perhaps... maybe they ran out of cake?? That it's okay to forgive them cuz they are busy? But after buying their cake year round for entire family about 8-9 people, but over time, I came to the conclusion that there is no hope that they will fix the way they make their cake. Unapologetically skimping. 25% cake 20% fruits 55% cream I'm trying to be very fair and report the truth. Maybe the chef loves whip cream and just feel that the cake is better with whip cream? I'm thoroughly disappointed with their cake making practices. I just cannot find the sincerity that's supposed to make me feel appreciated as a customer. Very disappointing.
Ordered a half dozen mini barbecue pork bun and half dozen mini pineapple bun. These were the perfect size to eat one of each. I love eating these!!
I intended to try this bakery a long time ago, but as usually happens, places get pushed to the backburner until a specific need arises. With the upcoming mid autumn festival (tomorrow actually), I really wanted some traditional Cantonese mooncakes, but I didn't want to buy an entire box of just one flavor for myself. That's where Cherry Blossom came in so clutch. I was able to order individual flavors from here with or without salted egg yolks. I got one each of black sesame and white lotus paste. I also added a pair of egg tarts (not an option to buy just one) and a passionfruit tea to round out my order. I tried 1/8 of each of the mooncakes upon arrival. Both had a good flavor, but I found them rather dry and slightly crumbly. Still, they satisfied the craving. The egg tarts were solid and pretty standard for San Francisco quality, but they were almost too rich, and I don't think I'd get them again. As for the passionfruit green tea with boba, I found it too sweet and syrupy, but that's not too surprising given it's just an add-on and not what the bakery specializes in by any means. Overall, this is a pretty decent bakery by SF standards with all the classics. Not the highest quality but still delivers tasty treats with something for everyone. read more
There are plenty of bakeries all around San Francisco which sells buns. You can find them in almost every neighborhood in San Francisco. When you are at the Ocean ( the avenue not the water) Avenue there are a few places to choose from in the area. There is one place which sells lots of bake goods and it's located on Ocean avenue.It's called Cherry Blossom. On an Ocean Avenue stroll on a sunny day during the heat wave I landed at Cherry Blossom. Inside you will see baked goods along with customized cakes. I had got the durian roll. It didn't have a smell to it and actually the scent was welcoming. It didn't have the funk it smell or taste like some I saw on my social media feed. I then tried their pineapple bun and it was not too sweet and tasty. It was a bit flakey like some in SF. If you wait too long to eat the bun it's start to get crumby. This is a good bakery for your bun fix. There is a place which "carries" durian roll along bake goods topped with "berries"and a cream horn with "cherries" these desserts sing to me like some on my social media singing like "canaries" I like buns in the morning like morning buns when I "awake"come to place where they "make"different types of buns and a customized "cake"if you take too long to eat the buns like some in SF they will start to "flake" read more
This place is bananas during autumn moon festival. Rightfully so! They make their own moon cakes and have such a variety and all freshly made it's easy to see why it's crazy. I really wanted to try the taro mooncake with egg yolk. It's like $9-$10 for one and well worth it. Especially for someone who love taro. Got their mini pork buns and pineapple buns bc not trip to Chinese bakery is complete without it. Which were solid but the mooncakes is what will have me coming back next year! read more

I suppose I could have a celery stick, but who am I kidding? This is one bustling place no matter what time of day you're here. I've been to the popular one on Clement, but their Ocean Avenue location is a bigger space and hard to miss since it's in front of the traffic signal at Capitol. Their baked goods selection appeared bigger as well. No surprise that I seem to gravitate to the ones I know best. The $1.80 Custard Bun never fails to disappoint (photo), but the $1.85 Coconut Tart was just too heavy to indulge in beyond a couple of bites (photo). The fancier desserts like the mousses and the cake rolls were tempting, but hey, I've got my girlish figure to consider. I called them at 6:00 am to order a durian birthday cake pickup on Wednesday, 07/30/2025. The cake was delicious, not overly sweet. When I went to pick it up, I also bought some BBQ pork buns, small hot dog buns, and shredded dried buns. They were all incredibly tasty. This bakery is a must-visit. I spent $90 and received a lovely Cherry Blossom bakery tote as a gift. I absolutely loved it! I highly recommend this bakery! read more

My boss bought mini pork buns from here and it was good so I sampled other buns, and they were good. I got a small cake for my Mom's birthday. The chestnut cake was good, considering they don't have weird pieces of nuts inside. It was a creamy paste. Thanks for the yummy cake. $34 read more

I usually go to their clement location but I accidentally ordered a cake at this location. I got their 8" fresh fruit cake for $38. This cake is loaded with fresh fruit! Melons, berries,kiwi, mango, and canned peaches! Inside was fresh and spongey. There are three sponge layers inside with whipped cream and fresh fruit. I even got a $5 gift certificate with the cake purchase! It's such a great promotion. read more

3.5 stars. We popped in for 2 items. Egg custard tarts and chicken pies. The crusts in both were very flaky but neither were buttery so tasted dry. The egg custard filling is good and not too sweet. I've had better more savory chicken pies from Sheng Kee bakeries but this one has more fillings. Lots of baked goodies in their display cases. We will have to make a return trip to sample other things. read more
Cash only establishment . They have a variety of pastry's . I order a dozen baked BBQ pork buns . I like to try different place every time I come to the city. For dozen and three extra pastries the price wasn't too bad. If you want a dozen of pork buns Make sure you call ahead . There are tables to have a coffee with pastry inside . read more

I saw this place on yelp and the first thing I thought about was the how affordable the pastries are! The cakes look super good I never can find a place that sells in minis so I'm super excited. The service was very nice they asked if we would like to get started with a drink while we waited got a boba of course :) The cost was around $35 for all of these things read more

The BBQ pork bun had plastic cooked inside the bun. After second bite, felt plastic and pulled 5-6inch plastic from inside of bun. We threw the rest of the pastries out because it was unsanitary. Very unsafe and extremely disappointed. read more

I came here to grab some baked goods to try at home and ended up getting a chocolate mousse cake, mango mousse cake, and a durian pastry. I was helped pretty quickly and paid in cash. Both the chocolate and mango mousse cakes were quite similar, with a decent layer of mousse on top of a soft sponge cake, plus a few toppings. They were okay overall, but the mousse wasn't as fluffy or moist as I would have liked, leaving a bit of a dry mouthfeel. The flavor tasted slightly artificial, though given the lower price, it wasn't too surprising. The durian pastry had a faint smell, but the filling was more sweet bean paste than durian, with just a hint of durian aftertaste. The outside was nice and crispy. Overall, it's an okay bakery, on par with Sheng Kee, though they might offer some more unique items. read more

Note: I got my order for delivery I've ordered from Cherry Blossom Bakery multiple times now for delivery and everything is always so good. Their custard buns are my favorite but I've also had their mini hot dog buns, which I love but unfortunately don't have a picture of. I'm sure if I went in person and picked up my order fresh that I'd love the food even more but you simply cannot go wrong with their custard buns, pork buns, or hot dog buns. Their pork buns are so pillowy and soft. The meat is tender with just a touch of sweetness which compliments the bread so well. Their only competitor for me is Red House Bakery over on San Bruno Ave but if you're in the area, I would recommend Cherry Blossom Bakery; and live I said it's nice that they are on delivery apps too! read more
