Tried their $10 mango bingsoo and it's actually pretty good. Mango was sweet and ripe, but there was too little of it. My friend and I shared it, and we ran out of mango pretty quickly. I'm glad they switched from sliced to cubed mango. They pump some mango syrup in the bottom and on top, which was not bad. The snow itself is surprisingly really good. It was milky and delicate like it should be. Not icy. It comes with some clear jellies as well. I think it'd be better to serve this in a bowl--less messy. Hope they come out with more flavors, like melon! It's a small spot. There were two small round tables to sit down in and some seating at the countertop facing the sun. WiFi provided.

Thank you Cherylynn (Yelp Legendary All-Star) for letting me know about the new boba shop finally opening. Boil Tea replaced the previous boba tenant, D7N. The previous shop's employees were nice people. The new shop, Boil Tea, is a good boba/desert shop. They offer various milk tea, sago, yogurt and fruit drinks. I didn't see any coffee drinks available. As for food, they have crepes, shaved ice and waffles. Today, I tried their matcha azuki bean crepe $10 and an iced milk tea $5.75. Both were OK. Less milk would have been nice. Service is faster than before. There's an option to order via ipad in the corner. I prefer ordering to a person because I dislike boba in my milk tea. There's free wifi and the password is next to the cashier. Welcome to the neighborhood Boil Tea.

Fast and friendly service and the shop itself is comfy enough to hang out and enjoy a dessert but only seats about 10. We ordered: C3 Milk Oolong Tea with Boba: Boba tasted fresh, soft and chewy. Even though the drink looked super milky the flavor of the oolong tea shined. D4 Mango Pomelo Sago: Comes as a mango slush with coconut milk, mango, sago, AND jelly B6 Scented Aroma Lemon Tea: Super refreshing and tea was brewed well. The lemon flavor was really distinct and fresh, almost herby. D2 Strawberry Yogurt: Strawberry slush and yogurt that comes with with jelly K3 Taro Shaved Ice: Super fluffy shaved ice that had tons of fresh taro both on top and on the bottom. If you're the type of person who prefers the bright purple taro milk teas over the fresh taro drinks, I'd still give this a try - it has the perfect balance! J3 Matcha Azuki Bean Crepe: Just like the taro, it tasted like the red bean filling was good quality and balanced in flavor, not overly sweet or too overprocessed/smooth. The matcha sauce was smooth without any bitterness while still being strong in matcha flavor. We were very happy with all of our drinks. We were split on which dessert we all preferred, but agreed that they were both delicious! The only two things I might want to see changed are that the shaved ice doesn't sit well in the wire cone it comes in and gets messy, and I didn't taste any pomelo in the mango pomelo sago. We'll definitely be back to try other things, and especially want to try one of the savory crepes.

My daughter was craving milk tea, so I came across this Boil Tea on Mission Street on my way home. We ordered Classic Milk Tea and Mango Shaved Ice. They were pretty good. I ordered the milk tea via the UberEats app for pickup, and it was ready in just 10 minutes.

New business alert!!! I came here to try their drinks and it didn't disappoint. It tastes great! I am a person who has horrible taste buds but I can really taste the blend of tea and flavor mixed well. I will be coming back. Shop ambiance is great they seem to have just remodeled

    menu

Went to this establishment with high hopes since all the drinks looked lovely and I got the Mango Pomelo Sago. It was like a slushy but it tasted like very watered down mango, it was like I was drinking ice with no hint of mango, very flavorless. The place itself looked very clean and nice. From reading other reviews I'd still maybe go back and try maybe a milk or fruit tea.

    Mango croffle

Super cute spot! The mango croffle was crispy, creamy, and loaded with fresh mango. Boba milk tea hit the spot too--perfectly chewy and not too sweet. Will be back!

Tried this spot because of the good reviews. But if you have been to Hawaii, I can't recommend this…read morespot because the flavors did not remind me of Hawaii at all. Also, nothing is served with mac salad... The prices are pretty decent for SF. Maybe that's why this place is popular. They are takeout only and have one bench outside for you to eat at if it's free. Tried the garlic shrimp, the moco loco (idk why they swap the words), and the furikake chicken. Also had a spam musubi (when I ordered online for pick up, I couldn't add egg which is usually an option according to the Toast website). The garlic shrimp was missing a flavor that Hawaii has in their garlic shrimp. The color was very red but it was not spicy. They do have an option to make it spicy though. It was bland to me compared to what I'm used to when I visit Hawaii. The moco loco gravy was good, but the beef patty tasted dry and overcooked. They did have a runny egg too but it was oddly underneath the patties, so we broke the eggs while trying to split the beef amongst 3 people. The furikake chicken is probably better if you eat it right away since it's lightly breaded. We took it home so by the time we ate it, it was soggy. The sauce it is cooked in is a little sweet and wasn't too bad. The soggy chicken ruined the texture for me though. Each dish was served with a little bit of cabbage which I liked to get a little greens in the meals. The spam musubi didn't taste like it had any sauce, and they used so much furikake underneath the spam, that it made it taste fishy. Would not recommend. I can't comment on the service much since I ordered online for pickup. The guy who handed me my food after asking my name was nice and polite though. The only reason I'd come back is to try to the shave ice. The group in front of me got 3 for their kids, and it looked tasty. I would not come back for the food, but at least the prices aren't bad for SF standards.

You order at the counter, grab any open table if you're dining in, and they'll call your name when your food is ready. There are several tables available for customers who want to eat there. The middle of the store has a nice selection of Hawaiian snacks to browse, while the refrigerator along the opposite wall is stocked with drinks and a few side dishes, including kimchi, available for purchase. On this visit, we ordered the Shoyu Ahi Bowl with greens, the Hawaiian Style Ahi Bowl with greens, and the Kalua Pork & Cabbage plate. The Kalua Pork & Cabbage was the standout. It came with macaroni salad and rice, the portion was generous, the pork was tender, and the cabbage was soft, well-seasoned, and tasty. The ahi itself had a great texture and tasted fresh. However, both the Shoyu Ahi and Hawaiian Style Ahi bowls were already well-marinated, and the greens were dressed with the same sweet soy based sauce. The combination made the bowls a bit too salty and sauce heavy, which overpowered the natural flavor of the fish. By the time we finished our bowls, we found ourselves reaching for coconut water to help balance the saltiness. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. The restaurant was clean, the staff was efficient, and the Kalua Pork & Cabbage was definitely worth ordering. I just wish the ahi bowls had a lighter touch with the sauce so the freshness of the fish could really shine. We'd be happy to come back and try some of the other menu items. :)

The pantry and snack items can be pricey but, hey, they traveled far to be here for you. They've got Zippy's in the fridge! Li Hing powder and Li Hing Mui, good signs of a connection to the Islands. Their hot lunch boxes are not to be missed, including their selection of Musubi's on the right wall as you enter. Take a glance at the menu on the wall, put in your order, pay, and wait. There's some nice seating set up inside across the space. Otherwise seems like more take out. Lunch boxes come w/rice, Mac salad. Ordered to go: KAHLUA PORK - loved the smoky flavors, a tad dry but really appreciated it was not overly salty like a lot of Kahlua Pork offerings. The pickled onions was especially a nice touch and contrast to the smoky pork. The Mac salad was creamy, fresh but was missing something. I'd order this again for the Kahlua Pork and pickled onions alone. LOCO MOCO - ubiquitous beef patties, over rice, luscious gravy, topped with sunny side up eggs. My go-to fav whenever I see Loco Moco! This LOCO MOCO did not disappoint in flavors and taste but I could go with more, yes!, more of their delicious gravy! DIAMOND HEAD GENERAL STORE will see a return visit to try their MOCHIKO CHICKEN, GARLIC SHRIMP, FURIKAKE MAHI, CRAB INARIS, MUSUBIS, CRACK FRIES, and their famous SHAVED ICE! See you there!

Whether it's a packed weekend or a slow afternoon, the staff tends to move very slowly, often chatting and gossiping in the back. I try to give them grace since they all look like high school students, and I will say the male employees are usually friendlier than the female staff. Another minor issue is the syrup consistency. The last couple of times, our shave ice didn't have enough syrup, leaving half of it as just plain ice. It's an easy fix if you eat there because you can just ask for more, but it's a bummer when you take it to-go and realize it too late. That said, when the owner is in, the energy completely changes--everyone moves so much faster! The owner is incredibly sweet. She took the time to check on everyone, and when I asked her about "dirty sodas" (which I'd never heard of), she brought one out on the house! We absolutely love this place and will keep coming back.

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.
