Yooo wtf I was there for maybe 10-15 mins at most. I couldn't even finish my drink because there's a freaking baby roach crawling where I was sitting. I decided to toss my drink and leave. This a one and done. BABY ROACH.
The tea drinks here are very strong which is what I look forward to in my milk tea! The jasmine tea is the perfect amount of floral and you can tell they use high quality tea leaves here. The boba is also quite nice and it doesn't taste plain at all. They use a special syrup to enhance the flavor and chewiness. I've loved their drinks and will continue to order here. I noticed that they recently increased their prices to be competitive with other SF local boba shops. I paid about $7 for my drink which is the normal price for boba in SF. Service was quick. I was in and out for about 5 minutes.
If you want strong tea, this is the place! Oolong milk tea with pearls ($5.25) was fragrant, half sweetness is definitely enough. Right on Mission and Persia bus stop. Although the store is small, there a few chairs and tables to utilize while waiting for your order, service is quick as well. Great tasting too and fresh ingredients. Another item I really love is the egg waffle ($5.75). There's also snacks and like rice bowls which are reasonably priced, a lot of variety. Overall, an awesome for caffeinated tea and awesome snacks.
One of the more affordable boba shops in SF! I ordered a Jasmine Green Tea for only $4.50. That price is no where to be found in SF anymore. At 50% sweetness, the tea flavor did stand out, but I do wish it was more on the floral side. This spot offers a variety of snacks, drinks and desserts. It's located at a very convenient intersection where multiple MUNI lines run. They have a couple tables and chairs but it can get pretty loud so I wouldn't recommend studying here. Overall, a decent boba spot in the Excelsior District.
Since opening in the mid 2010s, Mr. T is truly my go-to boba shop in the Excelsior. I tried almost every item on their menu and they are consistent. Located directly in front the 14/14R northbound bus stop on Mission & Persia, this narrow but cozy boba shop is the best for both boba drinks and quick snacks. I usually order their flavored tea and smoothies (if I'm in the mood for it). When it comes to ordering drinks, it usually takes 2-3 minutes upon completion. For their flavored or milk teas, you have choice to select your tea base (black, green or oolong), flavor and topping. Extra toppings of 2 or more are usually 75 cents but one topping is complimentary with each drink. I love their Passion Fruit Oolong Tea with boba because I can definitely taste the perfect balance betwen the passion fruit flavor and their oolong tea. If you want stronger tea, you may choose black or green tea. Although it is not mentioned on the menu, you may opt to adjust the sugar level of their flavored or milk teas to as low as 25%. I also ordered their Pineapple Smoothie and I can taste the balanced sweet taste of the pineapple flavor and is matched well with boba. I also love their mango smoothie because of its natural mango flavor. When it comes to ordering snacks it can take approximately 10 minutes because they freshly cook their snacks including fries. I personally like their curly fries because it is truly crispy and not too greasy and salty. Before you order any snacks, be sure to allocate at least 10 minutes or you may order by calling them at least 10 minutes prior to pick up. I like going here during off-peak hours, but be ready to be patient enough when you come here on weekdays after school is out. Mr. T is my top choice for boba in the heart of the Excelsior!
Wow, I am glad I decided to wait until after all the school kids dissipated and came back. Their jasmine milk tea is excellent. Not too sweet, really strong brewed, and they understand how to measure "less boba" perfectly! They even get the ice just right. Also, even though their menu says "one size" they do sell 2 sizes of drinks and 2 sizes of snacks! The service is kind and it's a really chill place when the kiddos have all gone home after school. I'll be back!
If you ever feel like you don't get enough boba in your drink, you don't have to worry about that here!!! I got the passion fruit black milk tea and the mango smoothie and they were both good!! I was surprised by how much boba they out in the drinks, and I love how chewy the boba is! It is also not too sweet. I also ordered the purple yam egg puffs which were really good. I would totally come back to this cute little boba place!
Discovered Mr T as another boba shop and I was disappointed! I ordered a black milk tea with boba and a side of popcorn chicken. The black milk tea is just okay. It's kind of bland and reminds me of Lollicup quality. The boba was not bad as it was Q and not hard. However, the boba had no flavor and was bland. The popcorn chicken was the most disappointing of the meal (minus another star for the food). I saw the pictures and they looked good - crunchy small nuggets of good quality chicken. That part was right but after being at Mr T and seeing how chinese it was, I expected your typical popcorn chicken flavor - five spice, basil, etc... but it was actually unseasoned! They were literally chicken nuggets. It even came with a side of ketchup which was needed to bring some kind of flavor. Overall, Mr T was another boba shop that was not memorable nor worth another visit :( As a side note, they offer FOUR sizes for drinks. I have a suspicion that the differences of sizes are negligible in some sizes and may be a way for them to make a little extra off of the price increase and "size" increase.
Today I got a lychee milk tea. It was so refreshing and perfectly milky. I usually find most milk teas to be too milky, but this one was perfect. The boba is also cooked perfectly. The service was good, they work fast and efficiently. The interior is nice, and they have a wide selection on their menu. Everything was very well organized.
I really wanted to love this place, but their popcorn chicken let me down. I was in the area and Yelped this boba place with a high rating so I had to try them out. I saw genmaicha on the menu which is pretty rare so I wanted to try it. It's a roasted brown rice tea. Little did I know, there would be bits of the brown rice in the drink! The first few sips were okay, definitely not what I was expecting, but the pop from the kernels was bearable. I've had genmaicha from other places before and it was just the flavor of the brown rice, not the brown rice itself. I guess that one is on me for not knowing what I was getting myself into. But the popcorn chicken was a disappointment. It was literally just bits of deep fried chicken pieces. It had zero flavor. There was white pepper powder and chili powder on the side for you to add, but the whole point of popcorn chicken is that it already has a flavorful batter and is deep fried with basil! On the plus side, at least the actual tapioca balls were pretty good.
Stopped by after lunch to hang out before heading home. It's a very cute little cafe. The bobarista is fast and efficient, had our drinks out pretty much a couple minutes after we ordered! This is such a cute little hang out spot, although it'll get busy after school since students also like to hang out there. The drinks were also very good and pretty much what we wanted in our drinks of choice. The brown sugar milk is pretty much a sugar bomb but that was exactly what we were expecting so it was delicious. The roasted milk tea has the hint of roasted taste that is delicious. read more
My boyfriend and I came was looking for a boba shop at a nearby bus top, and it was right behind us. It's not a well-known store but we decided to try either way. We got the brown sugar boba. It was simple, yet wonderfully done compared to many other boba shops I've been to. It's not special, but the boba was perfect amount of chewiness--not too soft but also not hard. Sugar level was also just right, not overly sweet. There was only one bobarista, and he was kind and very quick with our drinks. Also gave a lot of boba :). I would definitely come back to try other drinks! read more

Today I got a lychee milk tea. It was so refreshing and perfectly milky. I usually find most milk teas to be too milky, but this one was perfect. The boba is also cooked perfectly. Came here twice. One time after 2pm and it was extremely crowded as kids off from school was already line up and couldn't wait as I had to pick up my niece from school, so not their fault but how is school out so early ..?? Second time today and it's closed. Door says 10am, but online says 11. Got here at 11:15 and they were still closed. My nephew was really disappointed. read more
I was in the area and had to try when I saw that the boba was less than $5! I got their taro milk tea with boba. It was not the best taro milk tea I have had but you get what you pay for. I would get this again instead of the $8 boba around the city! Definitely worth trying once. The service was quick, and the worker was nice too. The inside of the store had some tables and a TV and the ambiance was casual. read more
Cute hidden little shop that has items ranging from typical boba to waffle puffs to some other savory snacks. They have a few seats and tables so you can take a coffee and snack break and chill out with a friend. Service is standard and they have a 5 dollar credit card minimum. Overall, nice if you're in the area and have a craving for something sweet. read more
Cute little spot, not crowded in the afternoons that I've been around, and they serve both bubble tea and food. Make sure to ask for the punch card if you might be coming back! My parents are fans of the chicken popcorn. I tried a sea salt cream boba; the cream was great, but the flavor of the tea (oolong rose) was a bit too sweet/artificial tasting. The boba could have been softer too. I'll come back and try more, mostly because I live around the corner and Mr. T's not bad! read more

Just ok. Egg waffle (Hong Kong waffle / eggette) is good, popcorn chicken is bad (think frozen American chicken nuggets, though they do give big portions), boba is ok, drinks are decent for the price (3 toppings included with each drink) but not made of the freshest ingredients. I tried their milk pudding topping which I'm not a fan of--stick to their egg pudding. Metered street parking. Tiny place, but room for ~12 people to sit in tight seating. Right in front of a bus stop on a bit of a dirty street, so expect there to be smokers lingering outside (and smoke smells inside)--more of a takeout spot, not a cute/trendy boba spot. Overall not bad for drinks and waffles, but don't go out of your way to come here. read more

Went here and ordered Xlarge oolong milk tea. Taro slush, strawberry slush, sunrise tea, 2 orders of potato fries, egg puffs and popcorn chicken... Sunrise tea .. watered down . Sugar water The Oolong milk tea. Was not very good, had better . When I tried asking for a side of sweetener , the lady said she didn't have any sweetener. When I said that they did because how else can they sweeten their drinks if they didn't have any. Plus I watched the guy make my drink and saw him Measure and add the sweetener . Then she said no one has ever asked for that before then she ignored me ...lol The food took 30 min . There was no one else ahead ahead of me ordering food. After I ordered someone ordered 4 drinks and 3 egg puffs . I got all of my food except the egg puff after 20 min... then they gave the guy behind me got his egg puffs before me, then waited another 10 min for my egg puff ... Needless to say we will never come here again!!! Bad service and the fries , had no flavor! For $7.75 Popcorn chicken was terrible small pieces and lots of breading. We had hot pot for lunch and of course we were craving for some milk tea after. We came here because it was one of the closest spots to us and I got a oreo oolong milk tea. It was decent, but I wasn't a huge fan of the milk that they use as it tasted kind of artificial or processed and it was super sweet. I liked the oreo bits in it though. Overall, it was just alright but it did satisfy my milk tea craving. read more

Uhhhh. This was a big disappointment. We wanted to try some snacks there to go with some drinks to cool off on a hot day during COVID-19, but the kitchen was closed, so we just got Matcha Green Milk Tea, Taro Milk Tea, and Sea Salt Crema Jasmine Green Tea. The Matcha Green Milk Tea was horrible, I have tasted lots of Matcha Green Milk Teas, but this one hit very low on the scale. You could taste the Green Tea, but it was watered down and tasted like it was over done or old. The Taro Milk Tea was okay, but have definitely tasted better. As for the Sea Salt Crema Jasmine Green Tea, that was the best one we tried because it was refreshing, you could taste the tea, and it wasn't too sweet. However, I have tasted better Crema, but the tea for that wasn't bad. Overall, the tea was left to be desired, but the Sea Salt Crema Jasmine Green Tea was refreshing, and don't mind coming back to try the food there. read more

5 stars because with this SIP, they took precautions and made us feel reassured our food was not opened or touched during delivery by double taping and stapling our bags. Love that! Ordered delivery since I was craving for a fruity drink. Ordered: Lychee smoothie with mini boba, aloe and lychee jelly- good, a little melted by the time we got it Passion fruit with boba, aloe and lychee jelly- really good flavors, there wasn't any passion fruit seeds so might be using a syrup? Taro milk tea with mini boba, grass jelly and red bean- good Popcorn chicken - this is different from the usual popcorn chicken.. I think it was panko crusted.. good crust but lacked flavor Tea eggs- good for the price, a bit salty Curry fish balls- good for price, curry was not spicy at all Original eggettes- it was a soggy by the time it arrived but I'm sure it's good if u ate it right away. Would definitely order from here again. Everything was priced right, and portions were not skimpy. Love that you can choose up to 3 toppings for your drink without all the extra charges. And love that they tape and staple your orders! read more
The snacks are drinks are very bang for your buck. Homie and I got a small rose MT no tapioca and a Thai tea MT with tapioca and totally came to about $6.5x The snacks I ordered are the curry fish balls (6 for $1.99!) and popcorn chicken is $4.50, with tax came to $7.04 Thr quality here I say would be the local tapioca shop, not like super define tea and such but on the levels of tapioca express per MT, not authentic but not bad I wouldn't mind coming here if I was in the area and wanted a drink, I like they have 4 sizes below and the two flavor cup, see my photos! read more

Boba, bubble tea or milk tea is still on trend, and there's no shortage of them. It's hard to have a cheat day when one is craving soft, chewy and sweet tapioca pearls. This little gem in the ever changing excelsior district is certainly giving Quickley's a run for it's money. Remember those days when Quickley's was the go to spot for boba? I'm sorry, I do not visit a Quickley's because there are plenty of milk tea houses to pick and choose from. My go to's are ShareTea and Boba Guys, but Mr. T is certainly one to consider. Get their Duo series, giving you two flavors to enjoy. I ordered their Almond Milk Tea (Jasmine) and Grape Oolong with boba and grape jelly. It was delicious! Their almond milk tasted freshly ground, their boba was good but could be better, and their grape jelly was a delight. I would definitely try their other flavors. I learned of Mr. T on Instagram and through my friend. So good! read more
