Cafe Rosso is a nice little spot on the SFSU campus, where one could get a variety of snacks, sandwiches, and drinks. This time, I simply got the hot cocoa with oat milk and sat in their lovely outdoor area.

Sometimes I would come here in between my classes to grab a bite to eat. I ordered spaghetti pasta with garlic bread. It's great that they give big portions! Makes it worth the money for a college student like me haha! The pasta is okay but it's all good because it fills you up! The garlic bread is good depending on the day. Sometimes it's a little stale and sometimes it's toasty. The workers are also really nice. I would come back if I don't wanna walk to the ccsc and if I wanna get something to eat!

Ordered veggie bagel. Got salmon instead.

I'm not on campus often but when I am and need food, I usually come here. Average food but better than the other places on campus. Today I ordered my usual bagel special #8: pesto, sprouts, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes. Instead I got sprouts with cream cheese and smoked salmon. If I were a normal person, I would consider myself lucky that I got a more expensive bagel than what I paid. But I'm not and I hate seafood so instead I am disappointed and going hungry today.

The lines maybe long here but it's worth the wait if you want you B.L.T.A . you get to pick what bread you want and its' best for you to eat it when it's still warm. Their bagels on the other hand are kind of small. They used to give generous portions but maybe it was a different person making it back then. You just have to try their B.L.T.A because it's the best i've ever had!

Had the tuna melt on ciabatta bread for lunch, nice mixture of toppings: mustard, mayonnaise and avocado. Cheese was just enough too.

We ordered a Vietnamese coffee, two banh mi sandwiches (one combo and one grilled pork), and two donuts (one glazed and one chocolate custard). The banh mi were SOOOO good - flavorful, perfectly balanced, and especially impressive & affordable. The pate on the sandwiches is delicious. The Vietnamese coffee was strong and delicious, and both donuts were tasty. The sandwiches were made fresh upon order, they were able to make it without the jalapeño per our request. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, amazing food, great value, and definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Thankful they take Apple Pay so I racked up a bill of $52.70 with an order of: Combination banh mi $11.50 Meatball banh mi $11.50 3x meat pie $4.95 3x beef curry pocket $4.95 They heated up the meat pie so that I could eat it while waiting for my banh mi. Sadly, I wasn't impressed -- the shell tasted like store bought frozen phyllo dough and the filling was lacking. The sandwiches were also disappointing -- especially the meatball, which was mostly carrot filled and only contained 3 sad meatballs. The combo is how I measure every Vietnamese sandwich shop and this one lacked pate and flavor profile just failed for me. Service was kind though. Seems to be a family run business and surprising number of neighbors come by to pick up an item or two. Unfortunately, this isn't the hidden gem I expected

It was quiet and only a few others waiting for their sandwich, so we were first in line. Just too bad they no longer have tables and chairs. So we had to take them to go. ***OUR PICKS*** THE ATOMIC ~ hot pastrami, turkey, cheese, corned beef, jalapeños, mustard, mayo, onions. Lettuce, tomatoes, & special sauce. My guy tried this and actually liked the hot pastrami by itself instead. I think I tasted the turkey more than the hot pastrami or corned beef. I liked my sandwich better too. But if you're a turkey fan, then maybe this sandwich is for you! 4/5 HOT PASTRAMI ~ I had this and enjoyed it! I think the special sauce (possibly Italian salad dressing) makes the sandwich taste better. The tartness lessens the saltiness from the meat and makes it pleasant to eat! 4/5 There's no choice but one type of bread, French bread. Now, they toast this bread perfectly that it's crispy on the outside, yet chewy on the inside! That made their sandwiches memorable for us and it's still the same after all these years! I would like a place to eat the sandwich though. Obviously, a freshly made sandwich tastes better than one that's been sitting for 15 minutes, especially toasted and sauced up! We found a near by bench and ate it a few minutes after it was made. Here's to hoping one day they'll have seats again.

Honestly, for West Portal, these sandwiches are a straight-up deal. And don't even get me started on their SF-style potato salad. It tastes exactly like those childhood summer BBQs where someone's aunt showed up with the good homemade potato salad--thin potato slices, grated carrots, the whole nostalgic vibe. I swear one bite and I'm 10 years old again. The folks at the deli counter are so nice, even when it's busy, they still manage to acknowledge everyone like. Plus, the shelves are filled with all kinds of snackies and nummies (dangerous for someone like me who can't be trusted unsupervised around snacks, nom nom). This place is a must visit if you are looking for the fresh meats for that BBQ or for that Super Bowl party.
