I have fond memories going here when I was young with my family every sunday before church just to get mochas/hot chocolate with a perfect asiago bagel with cream cheese- I swore they had the best asiago bagels because they had melted cheese in the center and a generous amount of cream cheese. The cafe owners are good, kind-hearted people who care about their customers and their business. The food is good and portions generous. We love the courteous service that separates them from a lot of other cafes in the city where customer service doesn't seem to matter especially when everyone is so busy and stressed in life. The only downside is the way people create traffic by blocking the streets and driveways when stopping in to the cafe. There's a police station very nearby so hopefully more enforcement of parking properly will happen. read more

I'm sure you've read reviews about the amazing staff here at this shop, she was so sweet and welcoming and didn't have any problems with me customizing the drink that I got which was the green juice with no celery! It was so yummy and fresh and delicious!! Had apples pineapple spinach and I think a few other things, definitely needed after a weekend of heavy foods and it was perfect for an early morning would definitely get it again! 11/10 My wife got the Mexican iced mocha with some extra pumps of hazelnut just for extra sweetness and it was luscious!! I love the thickness of the hot chocolate that sits at the bottom of the drink and when you mix it you really get the full taste of everything! 10/10 I also got a little banana bread it was delightful, soft and moist perfect amount of walnuts up top to balance the textures out goes perfect with a little coffee on the side or milk! 11/10 try this out!! That was all we got for this day, but it's everything you look for in a coffee shop, someone with a smile on their face, great coffee, clean space with beautiful energy! Parking was a little hard to find, it was in a very nice quiet area, I loved the location of the place the sun fills up the place, you can chill and watch tv if you'd like as well! A nice local coffee place with seating and friendly service. The coffee ranges around 3-4 star mark. I visit occasionally on a weekday morning with kids in tow and a stroller packed with scooters ready for the playground, it has never been too busy (always able to get a seat) but it has a regular flow of visitors coming and going. They have some small outdoor seating too, it gets good sun in the morning. Balboa Park is only a couple blocks away so it is a good place to grab a coffee and then go push a couple of kids on the swing. read more

I dropped off my dog at the groomer down the street, and was initially planning on sitting in my car to wait. It's a particularly nice day for SF today, so it was too hot to sit in my car. I decided to check out this cafe and grab a iced tea drink to pass my time. I wasn't hungry at the time, but as I scrolled through the pictures and the reviews, I craved a chicken pesto panini. After reading the reviews, I had some high expectations for the chicken pesto. I asked the cashier if he recommended the sandwich or the panini, and he said that he personally liked the sandwich better, so that's what I went with. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich on sourdough bread, but he messed up my order and delivered out a chicken pesto on Dutch crunch instead. He was going to bring it back to fix it, but I said it was fine. The sandwich itself was a little disappointing. The chicken pesto tasted watered down? I'm not even sure how to describe it. It was tolerable, but it wasn't amazing and definitely not something I would personally order again. I also ordered a peach iced tea which also tasted more like water than it did tea. Again, probably would pass on next time. So with all of these disappointments, why am I giving 4 stars? First off, the place has a very warm and welcoming feel to it. There's free WiFi and friendly customer service. The reason that I'm still very satisfied, despite the disappointing food and beverage, is that the cashier was kind and personable. There was a group of mentally disabled individuals in the cafe that were in the cafe. Now normally, at most establishments, the staff pretends to not see them, that they're invisible and less human. THIS CASHIER came out to wipe tables and genuinely had conversations with them. I guess they're regulars, because the cashier was asking one of the men how he wanted to celebrate his birthday. He came out and had a conversation. I thought that this display of basic human decency was something worth noting. And perhaps, it is worth me giving this place another chance one day. read more

This morning at around 6am, my roomie and I were craving bagels and a nice strong cup of coffee. We ended up picking this place as it's right near our college and it's midterm week (oh what fun). Anyways we both got a mocha and a bagel. She got hers with bacon and cheese and I got mine with the smoked salmon. We found a table to sit at that was big enough for our food and our tablets, books, etc. The place is rather on the small side compared to other brunch places but we didn't mind. We loved their free wifi as we both were studying for our midterm that was at 8am. I love how quiet it was but maybe it was just the time we were there. I am rating this 4 stars as though the mochas were amazing, I am not sure how often I would return to get their bagels as other places have them as well. I would probably try other foods they do offer though and would return for their coffee. Even though our bagels were just ok, I would still recommend this place to our other friends. read more

This place is conveniently located down the street from my aunt's, so while I was visiting I decided to check this little coffee shop out. Free Wi-Fi, plenty of seating, a couple of outlets along the wall, two computers for customer access, a clean bathroom, simple breakfast / lunch / drink options with a little flair (tamales!), large windows that show a nice view of the neighborhood...I can get used to this atmosphere! The ladies working the counter were quite friendly. This coffee shop has a lot of regulars from around the neighborhood. Food/Drinks: -Café mocha & white chocolate mocha - good. Just the way they should be. -Breakfast bagel with bacon - If you're trying to decide which breakfast sandwich to get...choose this one. I just have to say that they have a super extensive breakfast menu here and I wasn't exactly sure what to get, but I went with the tamales (I got one chicken and one cheese, each was $3.75) and I was not disappointed!! It takes a while for them to heat the tamales up and get them to you but I was actually blown away but how delicious they tasted. Mmm like I could have this for breakfast every morning tbh lmao. Am actually seriously considering it since they open at 6am haha. The coffee was whatever, but they have some BOMB tamales here that's all I have to say. Maria, owner of Tasty Coffee, is a great example why I want to try every restaurant in San Francisco once. As I tell people, it's not just about the food. It's about the experience, how you are treated, discovering new neighborhoods and taking full advantage of everything this splendid city has to offer. Were I not on this quest, I never would have come here. Coming back from a night at the gparents on the peninsula always presents the perfect opportunity to hit some spots in mission terrace/sunnyside/excelsior. I'm going out dancing tonight, so caffeine was on the agenda, and Tasty Coffee was on my mind. As I came to find out, Maria offers so much more. My latte was actually the most average item. Nonfat milk, sugar free vanilla syrup, less than $4. Everything I love, though definitely worth noting, Maria generously offered to add more syrup if I wanted it sweeter. She also makes a really good parfait. Loaded with strawberries, blueberries, lowfat vanilla yogurt and granola, this is how they all should be made. And priced (less than $4). But the best part, the part that earns Maria her fifth star, was the chicken cranberry sandwich. After spotting it on the menu I had to have it, but lost my enthusiasm as she explained to me it was more like a chicken salad made with mayo and oil. Assuming it was already made, I still asked if she could make it with just the mustard and cranberry. She said absolutely, just needed some extra time. What an absolute sweetheart. Full disclosure - the end product was not as good as expected, but I am taking ownership of that because of the customization. I bet with the mayo and oil it's mighty good, but those are the tradeoffs you sometimes have to make as a healthy yelper. Maria is not only a great example of why I want to try every restaurant once, but she's also a great example why I yelp. It's people like her and the friendly, accommodating and well-priced establishments that they run, who deserve our business. I wish her the absolute best of luck. read more
