Iconic irish-named outer mission spot full of chinese guys creating a wall of sound good for focus. The cucumber cream cheese bagel is a classic - must-try. Excellent service even if you are not a cool Chinese man. Cool teal wall.

** The following review reflects my experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** This place kinda makes me smile not because it's a business full of personal warmth or a source of first-class coffee. It's because if you were to establish the epitome of the anti-artisan coffee shop, this would be it, the anti-Blue Bottle, anti-Artis, anti-Illy, and yes, anti-Philz, all rolled into this locally popular place on Geneva. They sure don't put on airs here, and that was a good thing when you're just looking for fuel before a long walk home. I ordered the $3.35 Cafe au Lait, and it wasn't kissed by the gods of freshly roasted coffee beans born in some agrarian third-world country. It was just hot and hit the spot (photo: https://bit.ly/34zVlM3). COFFEE - 3 stars...I said it hit the spot AMBIANCE - 3 stars...kinda like being at the bus terminal SERVICE - 3.5 stars...all business TOTAL - 3 stars...there must be something Irish about this place...not sure what except the name RELATED - Looking for a cup of coffee in the city? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: https://bit.ly/30sXK8D

This coffee was really good. Quick friendly service and clean atmosphere. Hard to find coffee in the neighborhood and I can tell locals like coming here

Cool spot to get a coffee in a relaxing atmosphere. The white mocha was good. They have great service here. A cool neighborhood feel of a place.

This is a long overdue review for this neighborhood coffee shop. This cafe is a popular morning spot for middle-aged Chinese men who smoke outside in the morning before they go to work. The girls are really quick at taking orders and clearing the lines, as well as efficient at making drinks. Quality of my caramel macchiato tends to stay consistent - just okay. The owner is very nice but tends to be a little slower at making the drinks. Sometimes I also get the Breakfast Bagel ($3.95) with a plain bagel, swiss, ham, and egg. I realized that every time I asked for swiss, they always gave me a creamy white cheese which I later found out to be white cheddar. Still pretty good but not what I asked for, ya know. This is the place to go for a quick caffeine fix but may not be an ideal place to hang around.

Tea, cappuccino and health nut cookie...

I was glad to find this little coffee shop in the neighborhood I was staying in. I don't know the area and glad I didn't have to travel too far to grab some lunch and coffee. When I first glanced at the menu I was hoping to see more food items but it was just a few sandwiches and mostly drinks. I ended up ordering a turkey sandwich with a health nut cookie, a soy latte and cold bottled tea. I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and mild their coffee tasted and how fresh and tasty the sandwich was but the winner of this meal goes to the health nut cookie. That was the healthiest treat I saw on the menu so I went for it and I'm glad I did. I'm definitely going back for a second cookie. The total was $14 about the same as Starbucks, which seems fair. The only downside I see with CC is that the store itself definitely needs a major makeover starting with a deep cleaning because it looks very rundown and dirty. I know the buildings here are old but for a restaurant to have black grimy floors is beyond disgusting and a turnoff.

I first dropped by Claddaugh because I needed some sort of zing to get through the day. I was roused by the clientele before I ordered anything -- walking in you'll likely hear Cantonese, Spanish or a blend of both. Somehow, the people talking are emphatic without being cacophonous. It's lively, and my favorite background noise I've heard at a cafe so far. After a few more visits it seems like Claddaugh is a place to relax for working class Chinese and Latino people. Regulars sit in their usual places (near the window for Chinese workers or by the couches for Latino workers) with their coffees in to-go cups. I can't not appreciate that consistency. What I've tried so far: - The Chai latte tastes like chai, which is an automatic plus. I've had too many chai beverages with more sugar or milk than spices. Not the best, but it'll fulfill cravings if you're in the area. - Do have a Granola Oat Jack cookie if you're a fan of cranberries or chewy cookies! Tart, satisfying and a mouth workout for $2.75. - The Americano goes down easy, but it tastes flat and overroasted.

    Old school neighborhood coffee house.

Rock my world! Look at the top of this page. "The owner has not claimed this business". What else do you need to know? There were two young, attractive workers (maybe the owners?) behind the counter and I was clearly a customer who had never been there before. Neither one of them cared. I can't imagine owning a business, and not taking the time to read what people say about it on Yelp. All the reviews here make the same points, I won't bore the reader with a recap.

Iced mocha. It's not bad nor good. It's "meh".

Holy smokes! This is by far, the worst coffee shop I have seen in my life. The place is incredibly dirty. Customer service is rude and has an unwelcoming vibe. It has a potential to be a pleasant coffee shop once it is maintained.

Like everywhere else in SF, you have to pay for street parking but it's free after 6pm! The vibes inside are of a typical coffee shop and there is a good amount of tables and seats! The barista makes each drink one at a time, so it could take a while to order and get your drinks, but it just shows that they are very intentional with their drinks! I was super excited to find out that Ballast Coffee is actually a Filipino coffee shop that serves Barako Coffee, which I believe they source from the Philippines. They also sell barako bean roast blends for $20 in case you wanted to make it at home! Since they use Filipino barako beans, I had to order their Ube iced latte and Ube hot chocolate! The coffee had a slightly fruity yet chocolatey undertone that made it really delicious with the Ube! I do think that the coffee had a lighter taste to it, so it let the ube taste stand out more. My favorite was the Ube hot chocolate because it was super decadent and warming! I'll definitely be back at Ballast Coffee to study more and to also try their Ube Mocha as well as other drinks!

I've introduced so many friends to the hojicha einspanner and everyone loves it too! Even though Diamond has multiple locations, this is the only one that serves hojicha. I hope the other locations will add hojicha to their menus too. But what stands out the most to me is the einspanner. It's unbelievably yummy; it's thick, fluffy, and tastes like marshmallows! I could honestly eat a whole bucket of it! The hojicha itself is a little on the lighter side, but it still has a delicious nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the einspanner. Once it's all mixed together, the balance of nuttiness and sweetness is perfect. The space is super cute and has a cozy camping theme. Most of the seating consists of camping chairs and tables that really tie into the aesthetic, so there are only a few tables that are ideal for studying or getting work done. It's definitely a fun spot to hang out and catch up with friends. I also love all the little tributes to the owners' dog, Diamond. You'll find little touches of Diamond everywhere--from the napkins and cup holders to the free stickers. I highly recommend stopping by and trying the hojicha eispanner. It's the reason I keep coming back! (My brother got the matcha einspanner but idk what he thought of it)
