Pretty damn good. Docking 1 star for the unnecessarily fatty pulled pork but otherwise everything was great. Food: hubby picked up takeout last week and we ended up sampling a smattering of food - pulled pork, brisket, ribs, potato salad, Mac & cheese and cornbread. My fave meat were the ribs followed by the pork. The flavor of the pulled pork was excellent but there too many full chunks of fat in it. The Mac & cheese was amazing. I was very impressed. Rounding it out was the cornbread. Subtly sweet and that perfect balance of crumbly yet moist. LOVED IT! I didn't try the other items but hubby cleaned his plate so you be the judge. Can't speak to service and atmosphere since I didn't go to pick up the order but based on taste alone, I'm looking forward to returning for dine in one of these days. read more

I almost skipped out on a group event, and I'm so glad I didn't! This might be the best eat on site BBQ experience I've found in Seattle... Food/drinks: Ribs - great. Brisket - great. Moist, smoky, tender. Pulled pork - okay. Sausage - not a fan of the cheddar filling. The assortment of sides and other proteins weren't dairy free so I couldn't partake, but the rest of the group especially raves about the cornbread and butter. The Manhattan was a sweet, liquor forward drink to top it off. Service: Friendly. Helpful in tracking down allergy info for me. Attentive. No complaints. Ambiance: Our group was on the patio. Heat lamps were helpful. The pig statue brought a laugh. The smell of BBQ was pretty strong, but I don't know if I've been to a good one that wasn't. I recently went out for dinner here with a friend based on several recommendations. (Allegedly, Jack's is much better than Drunky Two Shoes). I was immediately nervous as it didn't smell like a BBQ joint. Sidenote: The best signs you're getting 5-star Q is a) there is minimal signage and b) it smells delicious. Anyways, it's got a nice family vibe. The staff was super friendly. We started with a few IPAs, both of which were great, then had the Billionaire Beef Bacon as an app. I've never had it before! It came out quickly and was really good. Moving on to the entree, I went with the Pulled Pork with the brussel sprouts and coleslaw sides. The sides were great, I really loved them. The slaw was a South Carolina slaw (mustard, vinegar-y), and the sprouts were sweet with a roasted crunch. My pork was maybe lukewarm and lacked any seasoning or sauce. It was very boring. The tableside BBQ sauce tasted store-bought left me wanting more. My friend opted for the brisket with mac and cheese as the side. His tldr review was the brisket didn't taste as good as Costco Brand, and was also lukewarm, as was his mac (which also lacked seasoning). The next step is to try Drunky's. read more

Had a great Friday evening dinner. We got seated quickly around 7 PM. The staff and resturant appear to be doing a great job of following Covid safety protocols. When you walk in to Jack's you are greeted with the wonderful smell of their smokers. That Smokey meat aroma has permeated every particle of the building, in a great way. While at the resturant, we saw a steady stream of carry out customers picking up orders to go. We placed our order quickly. In a few minutes that waiter came back to the table to let us know that the ribs plate my spouse order was no longer available, they had run out of ribs. We ordered a different plate and the waiter kindly added some "burnt ends" to the new order as an apology for running out of ribs. The pulled pork that we got was absolutely perfect! Smokey and delicious. Throughout our visit the service was top notch. When we arrived at 7 the seating was not very full. By 7:45, the resturant was full and the available choices on the menu were becoming limited. My suggestion would be to go early, and go often! read more

The rib was huge (1.8 lbs) and could definitely be shared among two hungry dudes especially if ordering sides or another meat. I don't use BBQ sauce as I believe the meat should stand on its own and this meat did just that. However, I tried the sauce and it was good. Ketchup based. I will say it seemed a little pricey for what I got. Spent ~$70 + 20% tip. Bulk of the cost being the rib which was ~$45. Giving them 5 because this is the best I've had in Washington. I purchased the trinity + a 1/2 lb of pork and I honestly don't see the value. $55 bill and the bag still felt light. Starting with the good: The chopped brisket was my favorite. Tons of flavor. Comes in a cup and was very juicy. The jalapeno cheese sausage was shockingly dry, but still tasted decent. The meat inside the casing was extremely dense looking, almost like a processed hotdog. Appearance-wise, it was not a great looking wiener either. The ribs were pretty dry as well and needed sauce. The sauce couldn't save it. The mac & cheese and corn bread are both fine, along with their portions. The mac and cheese had a velveeta-like creaminess. I just hope it wasn't velveeta... Pickles are 50 cents extra. Flavor-wise they're on the sweet side and not acidic or zingy. I was expecting a small cup of them or perhaps some wedges, but it was literally just three thinnn slices. Absolute joke. If they threw those into every meal for free, I'd still think I was being stiffed. Both of their sauces are weak in terms of heat and in flavor. Interior has that budget pinterest hipster look that is beyond played out. It had zero authenticity and reminded me of just another Seattle coffee shop. Personally, I didn't care much for it. This was my first Texas BBQ spot after moving here and it has been subpar, to say the least. Drove an hour to pick up a food order for our thanksgiving dinner. Just regular BBQ, as we are not fans of turkey. It's something we've done the last few years at this location. Despite ordering online the day before and their official website taking the order, my family and I drove an hour just to find out they are not filling the order. Apparently I was not the only one they had to refund. Despite having all of my contact info, they did not bother to simply contact customers that were being sent away. Would have saved me an hour commute + gas. Also would have allowed me to find a Thanksgiving food alternative. The person who helped me seemed to not care with zero empathy. Went for a team lunch today. It was our first time and we didn't think it would be such a wait. We waited about 40 minutes for a table and there were people that came in after us close to our wait time of 30 minutes that got seated. I'm not sure if they had reservations or not but next time we'll know to reserve if we go back. Jack came around right before we got seated and gave us a sausage sampling which was nice and unexpected. It was nice to see him there! We finally sat down and our waitress was great! We asked for so many things and she didn't forget anything. We got a brisket plate, rib plate, pulled pork plate, and a sandwich. All great food from the people that actually had the meals. I had the rib plate and it came with 5 ribs with spicy sauce, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. The ribs were amazing!!! I love that I could eat it without the sauce. The bark was amazing and it was fall off the bone but still had a bite to it which was awesome! I'm not a big fan of completely fall off the bone ribs. The Mac n cheese was cheesy and melt in your mouth and they added a crunchy texture of breadcrumbs on the top. The coleslaw was good. It was crunchy and chilled, although it could have used more sweetness to it. I like how the coleslaw was cut so the veggies were thin. From waiting to getting our plates was a while but they had mentioned to us that it was a lot of holiday work people having parties and given that the only things around Georgetown is construction and factories and businesses, it was busy! I definitely want to go back and try other sides and meat! I am not a big red meat eater, but the spouse is so I either occasionally relent or actually crave really specific things. Maybe it's their chips and queso, but Jack's is pretty much the one BBQ place I actually get a craving for. We have eaten at the SoDo location before (outside) and that was all good, but decided to try takeout this week. I ordered online from a car on First Hill and our food was ready when we arrived. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. We wanted a few things and in hindsight I would order one rib plate instead of two unless we knew we wanted leftovers. But two it was, with two sides each (French fries, coleslaw, potato salad), queso and chips and one regular and one jalapeño sausage. Again, low level meat eater here, but I love Jack's pork ribs and especially the cheese jalapeño sausage. I like how they leave the sausage whole but cut little grooves along the sausage so you can break off little sausage "coins." All the sides were good, and a quick air fry returned our fries to their original crispy texture. We are eaters and we had leftovers of almost everything. The next day Spouse had ribs and I made nachos and we still have leftovers in the fridge. I probably wouldn't order the separately priced "fixins" again, which consists of white bread and a tiny cup of pickles, jalapeños and sliced onion. I don't actually care for the bread (though I've eaten enough BBQ in Texas to know it's a thing) and I have the other stuff in my fridge. read more

A friend invited us out to dinner and suggested Jack's as it was one of his favorite bbq joint. We all ordered the combo plates so that we could have extra samplings. Overall the beef brisket was the best as all the pork entrees were very dry and not very edible, even with their bbq sauce. The sides were just ok. I hate wasting food so I packed up all the pork and took it home to make quesadillas that turned out pretty good. I didn't think the size of the portions was worth the price. It comes with brisket, chicken, pulled pork, two sausage links (jalapeno/cheddar and a mesquite-smoked sausage), and four sides. The chicken, pulled pork, and jalapeno cheddar sausage was delicious. The spare ribs were tasty and tender, but the brisket was dry. The fatty side fell apart, and the lean side was stiff and dry. Omg. This is legit BBQ. My ex tried to make bbq (er, meat?) He failed miserably but that's another story for another time. I always wondered why his brisket was so dry. I still don't know why but at least I found brisket the way I always thought it could be at Jack's. With their limited menu, we ended up ordering their brisket and ribs. In spite of that, they have an all-around great menu that gives you a broad sampling of their greatest hits. At first, we were planning to order just the 1 lb. brisket (lean) and half rack of pork ribs. Good thing we listened to our conscience and got the FULL pound of pork ribs. So worth it! The food is no joke - balanced flavors, simple seasoning, and a nice consistent smoke ring around the brisket. The sauces (regular and spicy) were a good add-on, but you really don't need it. It's that good. In addition, the quantity they give you is enough to feed 4 adults, so you can imagine how much food we had leftover with just 2 adults! They also give you white toast, onions, pickles to make a sandwich. We toasted ours in our oven, and it was really tasty. Husband also remarked that Jack was super friendly, and ordering online was seamless. Everything was packed nicely as well. It's great that they have a pop-up on the Eastside currently and looks like for the foreseeable future, but I'd still make the trek to SoDo and SLU. Jack's has mastered operating a restraint during COVID. They follow every protocol from the government, and is the first place I've been to that focuses on it so much, from the hostess that reviewed all the rules with you - to keep everyone safe - to the digital menus. They also expanded their patio to accommodate more customers outside, which is nice. The food is also really good. I preferred the ribs, which are a dry rub and very tasty. They also have great cornbread, bread, chili and offer jalapeños and pickles on the side. They offer a decent beer and booze selection. In fact, their beer selection has improved drastically since the last time I was here. The atmosphere is also great! read more

I've been to Jack's in Algona many times and have always had a great experience although I will say the chocolate pie I actually returned because I thought it was awful. Tried the Sodo location and seemed like they were short-handed but did the best they could. You know our times lol. Okay, so queso dip with brisket was really good except the brisket came in huge chunks on top so made it hard to eat a chip. The brisket I ordered both lean and fatty was on point. I have to say although I liked the chicken, I thought it was very salty and mentioned that to our waitperson. Couldn't return it and get more chicken because I'm sure it's all smoked together. They were out of pulled pork so couldn't exchange it for that, even though we were there on a Sunday at 5:00. My guess was right about the salt factor. Went home and last night drank about a quart of water within 5 hours. Sometimes you get food that you think is salty but it isn't, but in this case it was and it was disappointing. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We ordered the PICNIC FOR 4 with additional brisket and a half rib. It's cost $90.00. Sigh. My husband loves this restaurant so I will be kind. The pulled pork was dry. The sauce is awful. And I really want to say it's good. But it's not. My hubby says it's Texas style. Yeah, right. Ribs are good. Brisket is super good. Mac-n-cheese good. So hear I am in Seattle with a colleague that is from Texas and he says to me he heard there is a BBQ joint that is slinging real Texas Brisket. We both laughed as this is Seattle and what do they know about Texas Brisket. Well, ok lets try it. Why not. Holy Smacks is this place legit. From the moment you get a whiff of the smoke filled air in the parking lot you know you are in for something special. We were greeted promptly and sat . The menu is perfect, They dont have a bunch of gimmicky items. Lets get down to the basics of good ole BBQ. The sides were jut as amazing as the Brisket and pork ribs. In the dining room there is a large window where one can watch them prepare the smokers and load them with beautiful cuts of meat. After we paid we decide to go around and take a peak at the smokers and that is when the real magic started. The young pit boss took time to tell us all about the wood and cooking temps that was cool and then this guy comes around the corner from the parking lot and asked if we saw anything interesting, We though he was just another BBQ fan. Nope it was not just some random guy. He asks if we want to go inside and see the smokers I replied with that would be cool although someone should stand outside and be a look out, his reply was that was not necessary as he was the owner Jack Timmons. How cool is my life. We were able to get a private tour of the smokers and hear of some great stories of Jack and some other BBQ greats. This place is really just a hit or miss. Sometimes it's decent, and sometimes it's amazing. I've been here a few times, and had some great experiences where the meat would be very tender and packed with flavor. I've recently brought a friend from Cali to this spot in hopes he'd enjoy some real good BBQ... The visit ended up being disappointing where each cut of meat was dry besides the sausages. The sides were tasty more than the meat were. I was really excited for the brisket, thinking it'd be soft, tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor like it usually is... It was also just a dry cut of meat. The only thing barely saving it was the fat and the sauces they give you to dip your meat in. I found myself putting excessive sauce on my cuts of meat trying to "re-moisten" them. Didn't work obviously.
