Second, we had two kids, and you know as four-year olds they can be rambunctious and it was the perfect setting for a family meal. Third one of the first questions my server asked was what are we celebrating and I didn't think anything of it because we really weren't there to celebrate birthdays but since she asked, I said well actually we do have two birthdays! So she made sure to bring pop tarts for the kids at the end of the meal, complementary and they sang to us! Now I had a very long workday and the traffic and parking didn't help so when I saw they had a mimosa great I ordered it and it was in front of me within a few minutes! Second she mentioned how happy hour was ending very soon, but if we wanted the appetizer sampler, it was $18 and we said absolutely thanks so much. We also put in the kids order and they were able to eat pretty quickly after ordering because the service was very good. The adults ordered the Turkish eggs, which were very good although I might say the yogurt was a tad garlicky for my taste, but some people might be in for that. But otherwise great presentation very tasty dish. My husband enjoyed the chicken pickled sandwich and said it was tasty as well. So honestly, five stars for service, four for food, and five for hospitality. Definitely would return. Great experience.

What I loved most about Shaw's was the large portions for the price. Everything was so affordable…read moreand very tasty. The Spanish dip was so good. I honestly didn't think I would like it with the extra cheese on top, but our table scraped the bowl clean. I will say the spinach dip portion was a little small though. The steak was flavorful and cooked exactly how I ordered it. My friends ordered the French toast and the burger, and they both loved their meals as well. The potatoes were very flavorful too. The outside of the restaurant may not look super appealing, but the food is definitely worth trying. We went on a Sunday with no reservations. It was packed, but we were seated quickly. There's an upstairs area that seemed to host large parties, so it was pretty loud, but that was expected. We were able to find street parking pretty quickly. I don't think there are any garages nearby.  Our waiter was sweet and quick. We ordered regular sodas, but they were all flat and tasted weird which was really our only disappointment during the visit. Overall, if you want good food, large portions, and reasonable prices, definitely give Shaw's a try!

I will say though next time for the eggs Benedict to make it less salty, ask for the everything seasoning on the side. Chicken and waffles was the star though. Perfectly crispy and tasty waffles and the chicken tasted so good. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows and when the sun is out it can be blinding. It's a beautiful decorated dining room. Just have to move your chair or duck your head in and out. Our server was a bit slow to get to our table but the food came out quickly and was slow refilling our drinks but it was busy. She was very nice lady and pleasant.

The second visit, I dined for breakfast and was very surprised at how much I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the shrimp & grits and a mint tea. I ordered it medium rare, but they brought it out well done. They made me a new one immediately and this time it was correctly done. I really appreciated that and love their professionalism and customer service! I also had their Coal Roasted Cajun Butter Oysters which were ok. My favorite was the Hamachi Crudo...wow amazing and delicious! I would def come back here again! Street parking is limited so plan accordingly in this popular area!

Did the one thing that always drives me crazy when the tip is placed on top of food and tax. That is not the way gratuity should be assigned. The fries were hot, golden, and crispy. Chicken Pasta: Rich, creamy sauce balanced nicely by the capers and fresh lemon squeeze, with generous portions of chicken. Caesar Salad: Crisp romaine, plenty of parmesan, and crunchy croutons--classic and refreshing. Ted's Tart: The nostalgic rainbow sprinkles with whipped cream made for a fun, sweet finish to the meal. The real frustration came with the check. Between the added service fee/surcharge and the prompt for standard tipping on top of that, the final bill felt disproportionately high for casual neighborhood dining. Hidden fees stacking up on top of regular menu prices takes away from what would have otherwise been an easy 4- or 5-star meal. Great kitchen output, but management really needs to rethink the fee creep.

New brunch spot alert!…read more First, welcome to DC! This restaurant adds value to the culinary journey which is brewing in DC. I must say that I'm excited to see them launch the final brunch menu and take the food scene by storm. Next, their team is so much fun! Shoutout to JP our incredible waiter, Peter-who took great care of us, and the amazing Neyo-the best bartender ever! Each of them took great care of us and made this place feel like home. The rest of the staff were also amazing and very attentive. We decided on their bottomless brunch and bottomless mimosas and I'm glad that we did. Everything we tried and loved: Brown butter lobster scrambled- this was buttery soft and bursting with juicy pieces of lobster. Placed on a bed of the most delicious breakfast potatoes, this shareable dish was worth it. Charred steak and eggs- another winner and a favorite for my cousin. The fried egg was excellent and the perfect selection for the most deliciously prepared NY-strip steak. It also came on a bed of potatoes. Crispy oysters- this was so delectable!!!! My new favorite way to enjoy avocado and fried oyster together! Fried green tomatoes- babyyyyyy this was everything! Placed on a bed of pimento cheese and topped with pepper jelly-honey this was some AMAZING fried green tomatoes! Three layered French toast- I only got to try a small piece because it was oozing with sweetness and something I could enjoy in small bites. Very tasty but again, too sweet for me. Chicken and waffles- the fried chicken strips were seasoned to perfection and the waffle was tasty and fun. Lamb chops and grits- this was sinfully good! AMAZING! Of course I just said that everything was good and I meant it. Everything was extremely delicious. Drinks: Their cocktails and mimosas were excellent! The melon-berry mimosas were my fav! And little fun fact, they use freshly squeezed juices. We decided to order more cocktails: Espresso martini (the espresso was freshly prepared guys! OMG what a delicious addition to a classic drink! And they added nutmeg on top! *chef's kiss* Coco-lychee- think Miami Beach and you'd understand how refreshing this drink was. Agua Fresca- babyyyyy this drink is for the mature folks only! It's sexy in look and taste! Sooooo refreshing. Overall, I cannot wait to visit again. To know: Brunch is from 10:30am-1pm. This time is subject to change once the restaurant fully opens in October

We recently visited The Grace for brunch and had a great time! We were excited to try this new spot…read moreand were lucky to go during restaurant week, so we were able to try a bit of everything. Although restaurant week is over, it seems that they'll be offering a limitless brunch now where you can enjoy multiple small plates at a time. I'll start with the highlights. The place itself has been redone and is very well decorated and welcoming. We were greeted immediately and sat right away because we had a reservation. We were in a group of five and everyone enjoyed their meals. The food itself was fresh, flavorful and everything came out all at once for each course, which was nice - sometimes in a group, we can have people waiting but they were very intentional here. The food itself was excellent and we went in with mild expectations given that the place was new. The service started out super strong but towards the end it fell off a bit. I don't blame our server at all, he was wonderful, but I think there was a shift change or end of shift happening and things fell off. First, we were asked if we needed anything else as the kitchen was going to close. We said no - but then our last courses came out and we had to go to the bar to ask for the check after about waiting a half an hour. Not a huge deal but it was interesting because the service had been great up until that point and it seemed they were ready to wrap up with all of the remaining parties, but then never brought the check. The courses did take a bit to come out, but they were spaced just well enough where we weren't too impatient about the next course. Again, I think we need to be understanding that they're just getting started. Overall, we enjoyed our time at The Grace and we will definitely be back to give them another chance - the food was awesome and there's something on the menu for everyone! I wish their team much success!

My partner had the Mac and cheese which was homemade with a sharp cheese flavor and broil perfectly on top. Hank's is a great little stop if you're on the DC wharf. I'll be back when I'm in town.

Hushpuppies: (9.5/10) piping hot, light, poppable. They were a hit! Chili carrots (9/10): damn good for a side of baby carrots: warm, sweet with just a touch of heat. Brussels sprouts (9.5/10): they do them right: nice char, well seasoned, packed with flavor. BBQ Oysters: 10/10: gigantic! Some of the biggest oysters I've ever seen, cheesy, with a nice broil. Served 6 to a plate. Service was friendly if a bit inattentive, because it was quite busy. We were glad to get a table outside on the patio to enjoy the views of the water and the warm weather (before all of the Canadian fire smoke came down). Very enjoyable dinner spot.
