Beth is great. The other self important, self aggrandizing, person that came on shift was Rude, arrogant, condescending, standoffish, wrongfully assumptive and argumentative and appeared to be visibly intoxicated herself. She made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome for no apparent reason. I was highly offended by this behavior. I feel discriminated against by her and to illustrate that she knew what she was doing, she refused to even give me her name, or the managers name. I dropped into the Jackalope Lounge after 18 hours of travel. The pace was 1000 times more hectic than the quiet village in Mexico that I call my home. But the two bartenders were attentive and helpful. They recommended a great beer and checked in with me often, perhaps sensing my culture shock. The food was also fantastic! I had the Avocado Mango Chicken Sandwich and fries. The food came out of the kitchen quickly and was served with a smile. What a great little bar! Highly recommended! read more

Left a review on Google first, but came here to leave another one due to my genuine shock of how me and my girlfriend were treated. I love seeing plenty of other reviews mentioning how rude the "dude with the beard and hat" is. If he's not the owner's son, fire that guy. I've never had someone be so rude and aggressive for LITERALLY no reason. He would not serve me two drinks even though I had a valid ID, all because my girlfriend's ID was buried in her suitcase after an Amtrak trip. Jackalope is the official unofficial industry bar in Eugene, evident by the Aioli and sauce recipes that cover the walls in the men's restroom upstairs. It's in a great location within walking distance to most of the top restaurants in the area, and due to its comparative prices, it is also a great place to grab a drink before (or after) a dinner reservation. Pro tip: grab some drinks before going to a move at the David Minor Theater and then while in the movie order from Cornucopia and have it delivered to you in your seat! It's done all the time, so you won't be that annoying person ordering food in a movie, instead you will look like a pro. read more

We went here hungry and thirsty after the Eugene Marathon and it did not disappoint! The service was stellar despite only having a bartender and a cook working. Beth, the world's best bartender, and Rick, the cook, are ROCK STARS and worked so quickly but with such friendly attitudes! Our whole group couldn't stop raving about the service, the drinks, and the AMAZING food the whole time. Looks like just your average bar, but it is definitely not average! The new outside security guard is a certified, sad, rude, pathetic, human being. I was I'd'd inside by the bartender, given a beer, after which the outside security walked inside and proceeded to ask me for my id, which I produced for him, and was subsequently stripped of my beer and 86'd because I had simply stated that I had already been id'd by the bartender, apparently to which he found personally offensive, and worthy of such radical action. I've been a patron of the Jackalope for about 10 years in Eugene. I've known some bartenders by their first names for many years. I will never return and spend another dollar at the jackalope solely because of this single Employee. I know they are new, but this is not how you treat long term paying customers. Funny enough, I also heard from other people who were present when the incident occurred share in the sentiment that they were aware of this new employee being completely rude and disrespectful to other patrons in the past. If the business has any sense they would fire this employee for losing them many dollars in business. I will also be telling everyone I know to also not spend their dollars at this establishment any longer as well. read more

We have visited this lounge several times over the last 6 weeks and had an enjoyable experience each time! Staff are friendly and fast, drinks are good (especially the Irish coffee!) and food is well above the quality you might expect. The corned beef on St. Patty's Day was so tender and delicious it melted in my mouth, the salmon with Mango salsa was such a great dinner. My test of any bar/lounge is always the nachos; the Jackalope nachos were just right, not too big, not too small, good crunchy chips, enough cheese to cover all chips but not drown them, a good amount of toppings and not too many or too few jalapeños. Pretty good bloody mary specials and free pool (pay attention on this one, it will still take your money in the slot if you are dumb enough to put it in there .... like someone we know) on Sunday. Ale pancakes and nice thick french toast. Bacon was cooked just right. Two breakfast orders and two bloody marys were 20 bucks. Not too bad. Upstairs has pool, arcades and darts. Girl's bathroom has a stall that doesn't latch and a toilet paper plugged glory hole? I think that was what it was. 5 stars for the bartender (Bridgette) and my fabulous hand-crafted margarita! I don't do sweet & sour or margarita "mix". So, she muddled limes and jalapeños making me, in essence, the best margarita I've had this side of the Mississippi. Make it a Cadillac w Gran Marnier and sweetie peps & lime as a garnish... Summer Fields denied our group entry claiming he didn't like our groups "vibe". If you have an out of state ID or look young good luck. Based off our interaction he clearly doesn't know what a real IDs looks like (4 new Oregon and 1 California minor id now of age). Whole interaction felt so amateur. We were making small talk about what to order with Fields, asked for some cigs and everything was fine. When he got to the out of state ID and the scratched Oregon ID his whole demeanor changed. Cali ID answered all questions without hesitation and offered to show everything in her wallet but Fields had made his decision. The "vibe" comment really didn't sit right with us. We all work in the service industry and were pretty shocked. Hopefully it's not a reoccurring issue but our experience sucked. Went down the street to Good Times and had a good time. read more

I've been here plenty of times, but never worked up the effort to write a review until now. What's there to say about the Jackalope Lounge? I can never quite remember the name of this place. I just call it the Jack a loop or Jack a loo. I end up just describing where it's at -- the bar on 5th near the train station. This bar is kinda like the bar I'll go to because I want to play pool and don't really want to go to Lucky's. This bar is convenient and welcoming. The crowd varies here. Sometimes I'll see a couple on a date playing darts, another time I saw a birthday party. Then there are those people that are waiting for a train, and some regulars and just people hanging out. It varies. I think that's why I like going here. The beer selection is fine. I usually get something on tap. The food is good, especially for being a bar. read more

I have been going to this establishment for the past two weeks on and off playing video lottery and killing it. Everytime I have gone which has been a number of times, I have brought my assistance animal. You are not to approach nor touch assistance animals. Based on Oregon statute 426a an assistance animal is legally allowed in any public accommodation.. My dog is specifically trained to make certain noises to alert me about my surroundings and health. After a homeless lady came in with a can of beer and the bartender instead of pulling her aside and asking her to leave because she was pan handling he made a spectacle of her in front of all the patrons. I went to the bar to cash out a winning ticket but the same woman came up quickly behind me and my dog is trained to let me know as stated above when I'm approached and sensing she was mentally unstable he barked, as I would expect him to. Prior to this I was leaving because it was getting crowded and uncomfortable for me to stay, as too many drunk people were trying to pet a working animal without asking. Before I was able to do so, I was aggressively told that I had to leave because my dog barked. The male bartender was unexplainably nasty and the female followed his lead. I tried to explain the situation and even though I am not legally obligated to i offered to show them his paperwork. The male bartender told me he did not care and I was to leave even after making him aware that he was breaking the law. I called and spoke to the kitchen manager who was very friendly apologetic and understood the laws he informed me that he would speak to them and that my assistance animal and I were welcome back anytime. Turns out it has véry little if anything to do with my dog. A friend and I went there this afternoon. He went to the bar and ordered food and a couple of drinks, he told me the bartender was friendly to him. This was the same bartender from the previous night and his demeanor changed when he saw me in the corner with my assistance animal doing nothing wrong. He came over verbally abused me and loudly told me I was not allowed at the Jackalope. I told him I spoke to the manager and that he told me I was welcomed there with my dog at anytime. I just wanted to settle the matter reasonably. And thought the matter settled however, they will not let it be handled civily. The bartender became even more verbally abusive and threatening. I told him he was violating ADA rules including numerous state and federal laws, he said he didn't care. My friend with me asked if we could.finish our drinks at which point he said he could stay but THE DOG AND THE NIGGER had to go. He then grabbed the barely touched drinks sticking his fingers in them telling me I was not welcome there & when my (white) friend tried to defend me he got nasty with him as well. He was told he could call the manager at 4 I asked him to get her on the phone which he refused to do because according to him he's tired of dealing with "you people". So I have been forced to file a police report, am filing with the ADA, THE NAACP, filing a complaint with the Civil Rights Division of the federal gov. & Oregon State, DOC & now have to hire an attorney. His behavior not only was blatantly racist he triggered one of the reasons I have a service animal in the first place & truamatized my friend who witnessed this and was horrified by the whole episode. He was with me when I called and spoke to the kitchen manager the night before. I have lived all over this country & overseas & I have never encountered such animosity/hostility based on my race. I get that this was established As a white state but it's 2021. By now people should see people as people & treat others kindly without regard to their race or disabilities. Instead of being harassed marginalized threatened & called names that are beyond derogatory. I haven't stopped crying since I left there. I know some are going to be ok with this behavior but I have faith that most will be disturbed and disgusted by the way I was treated at the Jackalope Lounge. read more

We went with another couple and the bartender, little guy with a beard, was probably the rudest bartender we've come across. If I ever go back and he's there, I will leave. At the end of a long train ride from Vancouver WA., The Jackalope is directly across the street from the train tracks. Grabbed an outdoor seat. Party-like atmosphere at the sidewalk tables. It was semi-late, but they serve late. Our waitress, Reagan, was friendly and efficient. She took to calling me Rod Stewart (Don't Ask!). I had the Caesar Salad and the mushroom soup. Salad was fine. Nice large portion. Soup was maybe a top ten soup of all-time. It was great. My order, though, was something *between* a cup and a bowl. Ordered a bowl (two cups) to go. My friend had the Sockeye entree which he really liked. Oregon law deemed that all drinks needed to be off the table by midnight. Reagan came by to sweep off our beers, but I managed to grab a last gulp. Ended up going back for dinner once, and for a nightcap another time (No Reagan that night). Jackalope May not be for everyone. It's loud, even outside, smoking is allowed. The music is eclectic, switching from bluegrass to rap to heavy rock. Food's good. Beer selection too. When someone told me that they wanted us to meet them at "Jackalope" I immediately thought *UNLIMITED COOL T-SHIRT POTENTIAL*. It's a great name, and you might imagine the possibilities: Silhouette of a jackalope with name and address below it Silhouette of a giant jackalope with a person riding it with name and address... A jack and an alope making a litter of baby jackalopes with a person watching on with interest with names and address... Etc. Back to the bar: It's on Willamette across from the train station, so the location is kinda cool. Nice vibe, great beer selection. It's more of an adult place with good local micros and drinks rather than pitchers of bud light, etc. From the other reviews, I clearly missed all of the games upstairs, but that's OK. It's away from any residential so there was no paranoia about sitting outside at 1am. All around a good place to hang out and enjoy. I only recently started going to the Jackalope Lounge. My cousin dragged me in and I fell in love. Let me tell you something... THEY HAVE THE BEST BLOODY MARY'S!!! These bloody mary's are a feel good drink and a great hang over cure. The food is good as well (last night we had the most yummi bacon potato, jalapeno soup) and even when it's busy the bartenders are very nice and friendly! If you're going during the PM order your drink and head up stairs to get some quite. They have darts, pool, TV, Video Poker and you'll have a great time. The Jackalope retains some charm because it's in an old building near the train tracks. I've spent many nights at outside tables watching the trains roll by... I had a great first date there... I've shared many pitchers of beer there... Bartenders are sort of friendly, but they've copped an attitude with me before. Sometimes they ignore me completely, and other times they've responded with a snappy, "what???" when I've tried to order. There are usually tables available outside, which makes my smoker self very happy. They have curly fries, which is awesome. Prices are not cheap, but they're not crazy high. It's a decent bar.
