We got to meet up with Zoltan Kaszas after one of the early shows in February 2025.

Without a doubt, this is our new "go to" for a night out with friends and family. The line up of comedians has been fantastic, and more and more are finding their way to the Lane County market thanks to Olsen Run. I believe we have been to see five headliners so far, and have tickets for two more. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is terrific, service is great and the food & beverages have been fantastic and reasonably priced.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you think you might be interested I suggest you sign up for their newsletter to get first hand info on who is coming and when. Ordering on line is simple and we have had no issues with any purchases we have made. It's all been just great. If you like standup comedy, it's a must see.

Eugene finally has a real live comedy club, and after seeing 2 shows here, I'd say they are doing it right! Olsen Run opened a few months ago in the old Sessions/Hifi Lounge. They've done a great job creating a cool comedy club atmosphere. Most of the seating is 4-person tables, with taller ones in the back, and you are directed to seats when you arrive. Servers come to the table to take your drink & food orders. That's right, you can enjoy watching killer live comedy while chowing down. It doesn't get much better. The food is mainly burgers, sandwiches and wraps. I've had the veggie burger ($10) and it was good, made with care, and the server was nice enough to offer to slice it for sharing. The onion rings are also very good. I saw some other folks really enjoying their burgers and loaded fries. I didn't have a chance to try out their signature cocktails, but I have enjoyed some long-neck Coronas, which seem to pair well with comedy for some reason... As for comedians, they've brought in some impressive talent from all over the west coast -- L.A. in particular, and at reasonable prices, in the $15-20 range for most. The shows generally include 2 openers. For both of my shows, I got to see some really impressive Eugene comedians opening up, which was an unexpected treat. It's good to see Olsen Run has embraced the local talent. Most of their weekend acts do 2 shows, and early and late. Some do Fridays and Saturdays. It is worth checking their website and following their social media to get up-to-the-minute announcements. Doors open 30 mins before showtime, get there early for better seats. Since the space isn't huge, these shows do sell out regularly. So it's smart to buy tickets ASAP. And don't be afraid to check out someone you haven't heard of before, its usually a gamble that pays off.

Yay, Eugene has a comedy club! I wasn't sure what to expect but I was impressed with this spot, and enjoyed the show I saw with my friend. One of the most outstanding things was the staff: everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful, and the whole experience was very smooth and well-organized. You check in at the front when you arrive and they check your name off a list (no tickets to bring or get scanned) and they lead you to your seat. Servers come around to help you meet your two menu item minimum, and they managed to serve everyone and close out checks before the hour-long set was done. Very efficient. I had a chicken sandwich with fries and an espresso martini. It was basic, but solid for a comedy club. They have a solid selection of food and drinks, including N/A cocktails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only complaint is that the tables are kind of a weird layout--long rows of tables with chairs on either side facing the stage, so you have to either turn your chair or sit at a weird angle to see the person across from you or eat your food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

They get a good review for the talent they bring in. As far as using their "VIP" service don't bother. Our tickets were $196 vs $70 for VIP status. A very quick meet and greet with the comedian then had to wait in line to be sat down 3 tables back. We tried to move to a more advantageous spot, but were shut down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The VIP seating seems like its first come first serve, now my wife is struggling to see over the top of people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A real comedy club in Eugene yayy! We went to the Adam Ray show on Thursday and had an amazing time !! I really love how they set the room and stage up, super intimate, also fast friendly service. Will be back for many shows, ticket prices are also super affordable ! :) **Also Adam and his openers and the host, all killed it ~~ we'll be right back ~~

In about 30 minutes every seat was taken but this is what it looks like fairly empty

Made an improvised decision to see a comedy show at Olsen Run and while the comedians were a bit lackluster, the staff made up for it! All of the staff were genuinely excited to be there (easy feat when you get free comedy) and all of the food and drinks were promptly delivered. The menu was surprisingly good and folks can certainly order a complete dinner here while watching the show. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venue was clean, classy, and spacious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and we loved it so much we are making plans to regularly come!

Starlight Lounge: Where Eugene's Secret Broadway Rejects Serenade You (And It's Weirdly Good)…read more Gave the Starlight Lounge a whirl last Sunday for their karaoke night. Expectations were set somewhere between "drunken caterwauling" and "mildly painful nostalgia." Color me... surprised! Let's cut to the chase: the *talent* here. Eugene, who knew? Several performers weren't just "good for karaoke," they were legitimately, bafflingly excellent. Like, "should probably be charging admission or at least bothering Broadway agents" levels. One individual in particular possessed the kind of voice that makes you wonder why they're belting show tunes in a dimly lit Eugene bar on a Friday and not, you know, on a stage where people pay actual money. It was impressively non-awful. Actually, scratch that. It was great. Shockingly so. Drinks? Perfectly serviceable. Major points for the extensive non-alcoholic menu. They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met. Manage expectations. It's a pleasantly nice hidden gem, truly. Emphasis on gem but also on hidden and possibly on the faint scent of... well, I didn't try the women's restroom this time. That particular adventure, and its potential to swiftly terminate an evening "May or may" not determine if one needs to head home cause she's unable to use a disgusting toilet) is reserved for my next visit. A critical data point, one might say. Overall- Surprisingly excellent karaoke talent (seriously), good drinks (booze-free options aplenty), comfy vibe, proactive DJ. Minus points for existential questions raised by the talent pool's location and the looming bathroom inspection. **3+ stars. Good job, guys. Keep it up! P.S: it was ass FREE less the drinks etc... SCORE! 3 out of 5 = Good Job Helping hands; improve and attract more customers. 1. Partner with Downtown Hotels: Drop off flyers/promo cards at hotel concierge desk highlighting your surprisingly Broadway-level karaoke and extensive mocktail menu - perfect for tourists looking for unique, non-club nightlife. 2. Advertise Themed Nights in "The Weekly": Run simple, recurring ads or event listings for specific karaoke nights (e.g., "Showtune Sundays," "80s Power Hour") in Eugene's free weekly paper - targets locals planning their week. 3. Leverage Social Media Snippets: Post short video clips (even just 15-30 seconds!) of your best singers (with permission!) on Instagram/Facebook; yes even facebook. Showcase the talent & vibe - proof beats description. 4. Promote Mocktails Specifically: Add a dedicated "Zero Proof Stars" section to your drink menu/online & mention it explicitly in ads. Eugene's health-conscious crowd will notice. 5. Offer a "First-Timer" Perk: Give a small discount on a well drink or mocktail to anyone the DJ recruits to sing for the first time. Lowers the barrier, rewards participation. Good luck & I have faith you will continue to make wonderful cherished memories.

She has a manic energy and is a complete control freak and outright rude. She'll give you a long list of things you cannot do, like wake the cats up, scratch their belly or hold a cat wand toy too high. they have fewer rules at Disneyland. You know your perception of weird cat lady? She's that! Honestly if I found a cat I wanted to adopt I'd think twice before wanting to deal with her as a liaison for the rescues. She's totally off putting. Once you're in the "lounge" she'll eagle eye you by coming in and sitting at a table and watch you interact with the cats, even though there is a huge glass window and she can see everything from her front desk. It's very uncomfortable and I did not have an enjoyable time. I was previewing this business in hopes of bringing friends here, but I'll pass. I am glad they have been able to adopt out a good number of cats and the place could be fun and enjoyable if she'd back off and learn some etiquette. If I were a cat I'd hiss at her...

Short: SPRINGFIELD. CAT CAFE LOUNGE. ONLY THE 2ND CAT CAFE LIKE SPOT IN ALL OF OREGON. ANIMAL…read moreLOVERS GO GO GO! I've always thought Springfield and Eugene would benefit from having a cat café especially since there's a lot animal lovers and there's a lot of places to do. but the variety of things do, is much needed for the area. I thought it would be great especially from a mental health advocate point of view too, stress free for people to enjoy. [Location, Space & staff] I really love that the space was clean and well organized. it wasn't too small of a space. staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. I also love the fact that you can adopt the cats which is great so they could find homes. I really love the location because it's not too close to Autzen but on the familiar road to! I think the location is nearly perfect, as there's plenty of space to park. I definitely think it's so worth it to visit and spend an hour with these cats. I definitely am interested in the frequent visitor pass! [Drinks & snacks] Springfield Cat Lounge offered a few local beverages which I appreciate. They also had a variety of snacks, which I really loved since it's very inclusive for different dietary needs. I particularly love the Boba tea protein bar!! Never seen anything like it! [Merch] Shirts blankets tote bags and other cat related items or souvenirs are available to buy and in plenty! Also has local art and jewelry! I found most items were reasonably priced. [Note about rules] Only one thing I was not entirely happy about was when I saw there wasn't a reinforcement of rules, in the cat lounge area. Particularly the rule of not waking up any napping cats;about halfway into my visit, A couple came in and they were just waking up all the napping cats which I didn't appreciate. Part since it's a rule that was told by staff and I felt bad for the cats as they were napping, and then somebody put their hand in front of their faces.. [Events and more activities!] They offer doing knitting and occasionally other activities for an hour some part of the weeks, as part of their weekly events. So far, it has been the same price as a regular visit admission, which I really love! Overall, definitely looking forward to being a frequent visitor and keep on supporting this wonderful amazing local business!! Note the only other cat cafe in Oregon is in Bend. The one in Portland sadly closed I beli I visited the week of April 20th 2024, not sure why my review didn't post : ( so if there's any changes please keep that in mind.

But for the most part very good the enchiladas are fabulous, the tlayuda delicious and many other meals. I genuinely liked this place. But after tonight, I have to say that the complete lack of respect shown toward the food was mind-blowing. There were three things tonight that simply could not be forgiven. 1. The Ceviche Trio The pulpo was chewy as a bouncy ball wrapped in rubber bands--completely inedible. The fish had no salt, no acidity, and was cut so poorly that I made the joke that the cook must have forgotten his knives at home, thrown it against the wall a few times, and said, "Well, that's good enough." The shrimp was effectively a cheap riff on shrimp cocktail, if they had remembered to clean the shrimp before serving it. I've had better ceviche from Taco Bell. Granted, that was from a vagrant selling what I thought was ceviche outside Taco Bell, so take that for what it's worth. Either way, it was loads better. I hope it was fish. 2. The Al Pastor Tacos -- "Served Table-Side" When you read that something is being served table-side, you imagine someone coming out of the kitchen with beautifully marinated, succulent pork piled high on a proper trompo, topped with pineapple, slowly roasting and caramelizing away as you wait for it to be carved right there at your table. Instead, out comes a busser with a trompito, spinning a metal skewer and attempting to give the meat some sort of roasted effect with a blowtorch emblazoned with "Ace Hardware." He then passes me this metal box containing room-temperature, dry pork that tasted like it was made with a seasoning packet. Not to mention there was no practical way to eat it. You basically had to tear the meat from the skewer with your hands because the apparatus was so cumbersome. If the butter knife provided had actually been capable of cutting the meat, it would have fallen directly into my lap. It was as if they took the iconic mid-century dish made famous in Mexico City and decided to serve it à la Easy-Bake Oven. This was an absolute failure of a dish from concept to execution. 3. The Pork Fajitas We have all had and loved fajitas: sizzling meat, onions, and peppers arriving at the table still sizzling away. This was not that. This was stew meat in a puddle of broth. Soggy and overcooked, with no caramelization and barely any flavor. One Positive My brother said his pork belly tacos were nice. And honestly, that's part of what makes tonight so disappointing. We've been here several times. I genuinely liked this place. I understand that not every dish is going to be a winner, and I've certainly had meals here where I thought, "Well, I won't order that again." But tonight wasn't a matter of one disappointing dish. It was three dishes that felt like nobody involved had any respect for what they were supposed to be.

So if you're looking for an upscale fancy dinner this is not your place. But it is elevated bar food. I had the flatbread bbq chicken pizza. Crust nice and crunchy with so much topping the crust had a hard time supporting it when you picked it up to eat. The previous yelp reviews said they waited forever for food. I found the service above average. The restaurant set up is very much like a Lyons's hall. A bar with lots of tables around randomly and of various sizes. So I walked to the bar to find out if I needed to be seated or just help myself. The bartender stated to sit anywhere I wanted. I told her I was interested in food as well so she handed me a menu. I asked if I needed to come to the bar to order and was told I would be waited on. BC of previous reviews I timed stuff. 3 min after sitting at a random table I was acknowledged and told she would be right back. 1 min later she was asking what I wanted to eat and if I wanted anything to drink. The food menu did not have wine only beer and soda. There is a separate menu for wine. Stella, my waitress was back momentarily with that. After placing my order food arrived within 10 min.
