Kind of a fun vibe at Level Up--it's like a smaller, slightly older and dirtier version of a Dave & Busters. Tons of pinball machines, a few racing machines (definitely play the bike racing game), air hockey, pop-a-shot, pool tables, and more. The unfortunate thing is that several of the games were broken: the points counter on pop-a-shot basketball weren't counting makes and the coin slot for Guitar Hero was jammed with quarters, so you couldn't play. And where is the skee-ball!? It's the classic arcade game that's missing. If the games were all working and the place was a little cleaner, this place could definitely be five-star worthy. read more

Oh hell yes this is the place for Eugene entertainment! Sadly Eugene has a woefully low selection of entertainment destinations for adults and family alike and Level Up is the crown jewel in my estimation. We are pinball enthusiasts and come here regularly, and everything about the place, and the people that run it, are nothing short of awesome. I love level up been going there since a child but this last experience was disappointing. came to town recently and stopped by with my girlfriend and some friends since we all recently turned 21. Bought two shots of overpriced tequila and wanted some salt for it pretty normal right? Went to get some salt with the spoon sitting on the counter and the bartender runs over to me just to rip the spoon out of my hand telling me this isn't a buffet... we left right after and went to our car outside to the parking spot we had to pay for while some tweaker was smoking crack right next to us beside the arcade. So sad to see such an awesome place at one time become to shitty and depressing. read more

First time here: This is everything that I want a chilled-out, fun, easy-going, nostalgia rich arcade to be. I would recommend this spot for going on a fun, nostalgic date, an earlier afternoon hangout with kids (probably best at 7+), or a guys/gals night out for fun. I love the fact that all their machines accepted quarters instead of tokens, and that they had a great selection of pinball machines, video games, all sorts of fun. I spent probably $6 and had an hours worth of fun between a dozen pinball machines pinball, Mario Racing, Jurassic Park type games, and even a fun Connect 4. Totally worth it. Great, relaxed pub/bar scene after 8:45 pm, and relaxed and fun evening. I recommend going on a Thursday night. I did not have any of the drinks / beer, but that did not seem to be a problem at all. If you are super germ-phobic (I'm not), I would suggest bringing some pocket sanitizer wipes to wipe down equipment between users. Next time I will plan on staying longer (maybe 2 hours), having a drink and playing some pool. Also, I will plan on a group of 4 of us, or a double date so that we can use all four seats for Mario Kart. read more

Some of the games were free while others you had to pay for. They had super retro games like Tetris and Super Mario Brothers as well as pinball machines and air hockey. AWESOME ARCADE. The games functioned really well and have so many pin ball options. The games take quarters where it doesn't feel like they are trying to steal your money. The games were fun and inexpensive, you can have over an hour of fun on like $10. Air Hockey was great. Did not try food or drinks. I hope it posts my previous review with this one, as it is updated. I refuse to give them 5 stars, after how they accused an ex of mine of doing drugs while all he was doing is pooping. However, I gave it another chance a couple years later and they haven't gotten upset about Irritable Bowel Syndrome again. Minus the worry that chronic illness will get me in trouble (though that should never be a worry, ableism is a thing), this is an okay place to hang. The food & drinks are good, but overpriced. The games aren't very well priced either, but they're about average for a barcade and, if they'd stop taking out our favorite games, are pretty fun. Idk, I have fun here, and it's a place I should love, but after what happened a long time ago it's not a place I'd necessarily recommend. I'm upping my star review for a couple reasons: -- Level Up Arcade has been swapping out games recently. They did indeed get Gauntlet (two versions, in fact). They replaced the driving game (that had one broken steering wheel) with a Mario Kart racing game. They brought in a couple others to mix things up. -- I tried the food a few weeks ago. Granted I only got fries and tots, but they were reasonably priced and pretty darn good. They have Pepsi products so I got a Mountain Dew with free refills (which led my friends and I to stay longer and eventually purchase some alcohol -- so Level Up accomplished what it was shooting for). I did try to bring a buddy from Idaho who was visiting in to check out the place, but his ID had expired by a week. At 9pm they kick out the kiddos and dim the lights (the tables glow which is a pretty neat effect). They wouldn't let him in, so they definitely check those your card closely. I was hoping they would realize that he must be at least 21 (he's actually nearly 40) to even possess an ID that could be expired and he doesn't drink, but rules are rules. Just a heads up for anyone heading over to the establishment later on in the evening. read more

I've been to this arcade for years and for some reason they don't allow me in. Sad, but true regardless of their reply. They asked what I did and told them I was in the Air Force and was kicked out mins later. Also the agro manager stared me down as I left. A fun massive arcade house that hits the spot on a rainy day or just a fun way to kill some time. They have tons of pinball and other fun games and a great beer selection. This place is RAD! I have passed by it many times and thought how I'd like to go in but it just looked like a bar with some games inside, so I didn't make it a priority to check out. My friend took me there and I was SO happy! Its packed with arcade games, some new, some old, some very fun. Air hockey tables Pool tables Pac Man (4 player table) Tetris Mario Bros Terminator Guitar Hero (2 player) TONS of pinball machines Basketball hoop game A live DJ was a nice surprise, the atmosphere and decor was very neat too! Level Up is a good place to step in out of the rain and chill out with a fine collection of retro arcade games, pinball machines and other amusements. Open to families from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., the 'barcade' has a relaxed, family-friendly vibe, a pleasant alternative to the garish Chuck-E-Cheesesque scene found at most ticket redemption arcades. Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. daily and, as though drifting on high tide, a collection of hipsters moor to the u-shaped bar draws, throwing back well drinks, chavelas, and microbrews. Solid well drinks are the Greyhound (2 oz vodka and grapefruit juice), Sea Breeze (2 oz gin, vodka or tequila with grapefruit and cranberry juice), or Tequila Sunrise (2 oz. tequila, orange juice and a splash of grenadine). Dabble as you will. The bartenders deftly manage being attentive and laid back at the same time. A little bad comes with the good during Happy Hour. Nearly the entire row of pinball games are rendered unplayable as afternoon sunlight cuts through high windows along the south wall. Players are left to hunch over the machines to duck under the blinding light. Level Up offers good value. What a cool idea! I always thought it would be fun to catch up on some old school video games and pinball machines while having a good draft beer. These guys are just opening up, but they seem to have the right mix. I noticed that they have a lot of local micros, as well as a few tougher to find ones like 10 Barrel from Bend. They seem to have mostly a fresh pizza and hot sandwich type menu. They also have a full bar. This place looks like a great place to kill some time and quarters. Superb bartenders with excellent customer service. The bartenders are very efficient and able to multi task very well. They are able to handle multiple customers and drinks and once without breaking a sweat. It is a classic style quarter arcade and all the games are very well priced. $10 for games goes a long way. I have very mixed feelings about this place: on the one hand, I love arcade games and pinball and it is super-fun to come here for drinks and gaming. On the other hand, it's pretty dingy and gross and always has that sticky feeling even though the tables and chairs are generally clean. I can't explain it, but it's the same thing that I get at Starlight; maybe it has something to do with the floors although I don't recall actually having my feet stick so I don't know why I am associating it with that. Some pluses are the really great staff (although granted it has been a minute since I've been here so I hope they are still the same group)--many of them used to work at John Henry's as barbacks and/or bartenders and are now tending at Level Up, so I'm glad for them. They are very friendly and competent. I can't say much about their food although I assume they have some, I've just never ordered it. We used to come here a lot for trivia on Thursdays but I hate that it starts so late (9 p.m.--yes, I am an old person in spirit) and plus it gets old that the same team always wins and we don't have any friends who want to go so two people are no match for the teams of 10 or more. They do have a great selection of pinball and other games, and it is definitely a fun place to bring visitors from out-of-town since. The women's bathroom here is literally the worst in town so take that into account, ladies. read more
