This used to be Sunset Island. Q: What's Sunset Island, Josh? A: Good question! Roughly 2-3 years ago, this place opened up. We only went here a few times when it first opened. We really couldn't get into a groove with this place. The food was mehhhh, and the drinks were forgetable. When I came here on Friday to meet up with a few other Yelpers, I realized this place still hasn't changed much...just the name has. We sat down and ordered some drinks. My friends ordered Jello Shots, I went with the Ninkasi Total Domination. As for, "What's on the taps", they had 3 selections. Total Domination, PBR, and I THINK budweiser....could be wrong on the last one. But still.....3 taps. It drives me nuts when I go to a bar and I have to choose from a limited selection. I was pleased with the Total Domination, but this beer was NOT good. Something was funky with it. I couldn't quite figure out what was wrong with the brew, but it reminded me of BO! You know that musky, funky, WTF!?!? smell....That's not how Total Domination is supposed to taste... The menu was bland. Strict bar food. Almost everything was priced at $5.00 or maybe $7 max. I liked the cheap price, but the price matched the quality. I ordered Chicken Strips and Fries. When it came out, I got 3 medium-small strips and some sub par fries. The fries weren't exactly "crispy" and as they cooled down, those suckers started to get really hard. Hmm.... My friend really wanted the spinach artichoke dip, but they were out. Our waitress noted that she had been working there for about 8 months and they have never had it in stock....OK? Take it off the menu maybe? Call me crazy.... Then he asked for the zucchini sticks! But those were also out!!! His follow up question was perfect by asking, "well what DO you have on the menu?" Everything else except those 2 items. Hmm.... I think the service was great and friendly, there's no doubt about that!!! But the location is kinda odd, and the space is pretty small. I would stop here for a quick drink, but I wouldn't come here on a night to get crazy.

Hail Satan!!

At night, from a distance, it was a shocker to see that this place was open and here. DRINKS: 7/10 SERVICE: 10/10 AMBIANCE: 10/10 What we ordered: Lemon & Ginger Mule Key Lime Rum Cocktail DRINKS: 7/10 The Lemon & Ginger Mule was fascinating and part of their Shrub specialty menu, which is a sweet-and-tart drinking vinegar made from fruit, sugar, and vinegar, created to preserve fruit. Definitely an acquired taste, but I loved the creativity behind it. The Key Lime Rum Cocktail was bright, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, with a tropical twist that was smooth and flavorful without being overly sweet. SERVICE: 10/10 The bartender serving us was friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciated how they explained some of the more unique cocktails and helped me pick something adventurous. She was a vibe for sure and seemed to be vibing with the other customers as well. AMBIANCE: 10/10 Crow & Cart nails that "handcrafted neighborhood bar" feel. The space is full of character with warm wood tones, plants, and personal touches everywhere. The vibe is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to relax. There is also outdoor seating. If you're in Eugene and want something beyond your average cocktail bar, you should give this place a try.

I didn't really…read moreremember it, but I wanted to check it out again as I don't live too terribly far away and I wanted to take my wife out for St. Patrick's Day. We went around 7:50pm. It wasn't super busy. The area around the bar was full, a couple booths had people, and maybe two of the tables had people. My wife and I saw two open booths, but one of them had dishes that needed to be cleared, so we took the other one. It was sticky, sadly. It is possible they had just cleared it before we arrived, but who knows. There were two female bartenders. It took about 5 minutes before anyone said hello. I had already gone up and gotten us menus. When someone did stop by, she didn't know the specials. We had looked them up, but had a question she didn't know the answer to. She left to look it up. She came back 4 or 5 minutes later amd by them we were able to bring up the specials on our phone (reception is bad there). We were able to place our orders. Ambiance is fine, but looks more dive bar-ish than the photos on their site. Photos show a lot more light in the room than it has. Food was okay.Took about 20 or so minutes. I got a burger. Ketchup there isn't very good, but burger was cooked well. My wife got cheese quesasillia. We make them at home in a fraction of the time. My wife did get the special drink that came in a special cup that we took home for St. Patty's Day. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. There wasn't anything compelling to bring me back, either. The drink my wife got was fine (she enjoyed the plastic take-home cup). Food was so-so. Really, there just isn't anything that sets Shooter's apart from anyplace else. The ambiance isn't special nor particularly inviting, food is basic for the price they charge, and the service is... serviceable, but nothing stellar. If someone suggested to go back, I would go, but I'd lower my expectations as it is rather run of the mill in my opinion.

Totally Eugene: everyone was super friendly and kind. Really nice that the owner came through to say hello and welcome us; nice personal touch. Must mention... the tables could've been cleaner. Some were a bit sticky and needed some wiping. The Biggest downside was accessibility/ stairs; They're really steep getting up to the second floor. Also, the smokers area appears to be on this same stairway (yikes) I had to charge through the heavy smoke. With that being said. These stairs actually meant a couple friends/veterans; one on crutches and one in a wheelchair could not come up and join us. That really bummed us out. Would be wonderful, if they could figure out the accessibility thing someday, even just a ramp. And of course the obvious of taking out the smokers area on this stairwell (perhaps remove the butt cans & sign to stop this ) ?? Just a suggestion..... This place appears to have reliable food and priced fairly; (I will be back for that prime Rib)! The only downside., No desserts offered. It got me thinking.. I really appreciate how many Eugene restaurants source desserts from local bakeries. It's such a great way to support the community (major morale booster!). Would love to see this spot jump on that bandwagon." If you're into gambling video games, it's a neat little tucked away spot; Huge plus: FREE parking in their shared lot! Seriously, after dealing with parking fees everywhere else downtown this summer, that was a major win for us. Also, FREE cover; charge m, with these trying times this was an extremely pleasant surprise. Overall? Solid spot for music and hanging out, if stairs aren't a problem for your crew. Worth keeping on the list! P.s., Gals, Clean Restrooms!!!! Keep up the good work!!

The profile looked pretty cool so we decided to go there for a drink. Once inside, it was pretty dark which is typical for a Tiki Bar. The decor was very good and there was a lot of it around. My fave was the mermaid skeleton above our seats. The drinks options were plentiful and they even had jello shots for a bargain price (we had a few of these for good measure!). I had The Monkey's Paw classic drink and another in our party had The Invisible Man drink. Each was lovingly prepared by the bartender who was super cool with the prep and conversations we had with him. I loved walking around and looking at all the decor on the walls and ceiling. There's a lot to see. There's even a door that leads to a courtyard with several food trucks ready to serve you. There is a stage near the entrance for bands and a small dance floor. I would love to return one evening to check out the atmosphere and do a little boogeying! Give this place a try. It's a well done Tiki Bar and one of the better ones I've been to.

The staff has always been (and still very much is) top notch in everything they do...but the food quality has dropped significantly to the point we can no longer justify the expensive. We've learned the changes began shortly after a new owner came in. Some of the changes we've noticed: The fish in the fish 'n chips is now buried in deep fried batter to the point I had to peel away most of the breading just to get to what little fish was there. The steak and eggs ($30) offers barely 4 ounces of steak, small heap of potatoes and two eggs...not enough to justify the price. They downgraded their organic, thick-cut pepper bacon to some odd, paper thin variety that is not very appealing and it would seem they no longer make their biscuits gravy in house! It now looks and tastes bland and pasty...industrialized. They used to have magnificent herbed gravy made from scratch so this is particularly disappointing. They no longer have real maple syrup. The prices remain that of an organic, farm-to-table but the food no longer qualifies and is very overpriced for what it is. I will really miss my Sunday mornings there but I just can't stomach these shortcomings. Very sad to see our favorite restaurant reduced to this state. If I could, I would give the staff 5+ stars and the food 1.

With that meal you will experience actual satisfaction and contentment. That's the first thing I have to say in case you're reading for a recommendation of what to order. Even better if you have it late night after experiencing the best Handel's Messiah concert at the Hult in December. I had a small slider of corned beef along with his amazing fresh Kale salad garnish with shaved Parmesan, walnuts, added protein -- sausage. It came with a toasted slice of soda bread that was great. But the slider was how I realized the corned beef was PERFECTLY prepared. A taste was not enough; I decided to get the dinner plate version to take the next day up to Seattle with me. Fantastic staff included Barkeep Illyia, whose birthday it was. She kept up a steady stream of attentive care, skillful service, friendly banter with each of the clients that came in and said good by to them as they left. Hospitality was her middle name. Love that they have mugs for the regulars hanging from the ceilings, the bar space is great but so are the arm chairs and cushioned seats in the corners of the pub. I even ran into two other concertgoers who had also been so energized after the Messiah concert that they didn't want to go home. We spent a half hour at the bar unpacking the highs and best points of the performance by the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, and the symphony choir, and each of the soloists. We also unanimously agreed the tenor was fantastic, the baritone a paragon of artistic talent, the soprano sang incandescently, and that the final AMEN movement was soul healing and mind blowing simultaneously. Yeah. It was that good. This place was the right place to come to unpack it all over a Guinness and the best corned beef and cabbage in town.
