NAB Beauty & Spa is a super cute salon that offers waterless manicures and pedicures. I had heard great things about their Russian manicures, but it wasn't a really great experience for me. My actual service was nice and relaxing and I had a tech that took her time, which was appreciated. I got my manicure done with Dazzle Dry and loved that they had so many different colors to choose from. I found the Russian manicure to be a little uncomfortable as my cuticles got a little cut up and I bled a few times. I loved how my cuticles looked at the end though, so maybe it just isn't the right service for my sensitive skin. I was a little disappointed by the end result of my manicure, as the polish wasn't applied all the way to the sides and base of my nails, but unfortunately didn't notice until I was already on my way home. I left for vacation the next day and my polish had already started to chip, so I ended up having to take it off. I love the idea of a Russian manicure, so I think I may give NAB another shot in the future. I have been a loyal customer ever since my first visit back in April! I always used to have trouble growing my nails out because they would break and snag very easily. I started with gel extensions, and then when my nails grew out enough I switched to no-chip. The strengthening gel they use for their no-chip manis is super strong and allows my nails to grow without breaking. I never thought my real nails could grow out this long and look so beautiful!!! All of the nail techs are very highly skilled. I typically book whoever is available and they always turn out great. In my opinion, the quality of the service is worth every penny. I will say they are often fully booked so make sure to schedule your appointments in advance. Sometimes I have had luck reaching out on Instagram to see if they have any cancellations. I started coming here in April 2023 and have been returning about once a month since. I began with extensions which has allowed me to grow out my natural nails and now do the overlay. I believe their price is fair considering the attention to detail spent on cuticle work and cleanliness. They use a clean set of equipment per client. I have great retention, my nails last a month and could honestly last longer but I don't like the look of grown out nails. I usually come in with a picture from Pinterest and they have no problem replicating it. My last set was done by Mary and they turned out perfect as they replicated a picture I had shown from Pinterest. I will say it's important to book ahead by probably a week at least. Their weekend appointments fill up very fast and it's hard to get in if you want a Friday or Saturday appointment last minute. That being said I've never had an issue with making an appointment. My favorite salon to go to. I never have to worry about the quality of nails or if the place is up to standard. This is the only place I trust to do my manicures and pedicures. I'm very particular especially about my toes. I had a very bad experience at a different salon where the same tools that were used on someone else were used on me right after without proper sanitation. Here at J Salon everything is clean and they don't use the same tools. The bits are replaced and you get the quality and care you pay for. Went here for a special occasion and wanted to treat myself to the Russian manicure technique I see everywhere online and it was totally worth the hype. I got short gel extensions and the attention to detail was apparent. My cuticles haven't been messy since and my nail beds just look so long and healthy. Honestly disappointed in my experience, after having high expectations. Maybe it's because I got a regular manicure vs gel with art, but I'd rather pay the extra $5 to get a regular manicure at the other nail salon I frequent. I got my nails done on Friday, and didn't love how they looked when I walked out. The polish application was not smooth, you can see the strokes on my nails and not even layers with the bottoms semi translucent. It's only been 3 days and my thumb is mostly chipped at the bottom. It's a holiday weekend, trust me I've done no manual or hand intensive labor. None of the ends of the nails were coated with polish and sealed with top coat so here we are. I also expected a lot more cuticle / skin clean up as I have a tendency to pick at my cuticles when they're overgrown, but instead much of the skin was left as is. I have always been intrigued about Russian manicures, and as soon as I heard about NAB Beauty's style on TikTok (yes, they are going viral for a reason), I knew I had to try it. The appointment process was super easy. Through the "booking" portal, you get to choose the services you are interested in, and the beauty technician you want to work with. The website does a good job in describing every technicians skills and years of experience, so you know exactly what you're getting during your service. As soon as you schedule your appointment, you get a confirmation email right away. If you are a new client, you will receive a PDF with some legal terms and conditions that you'd have to go over and sign before your initial appointment. I highly suggest going through that in detail. The place itself is easy to locate, small yet cozy and they've done a really good job in keeping it clean. They have a great selection of colors and are also great at nail art. I ended up choosing the Dazzle Dry service (Russian style). The process is, as it says, "dry" but the technique heavily targets cuticles. It involves a nail drill and other special equipment to clean and remove all the excess skin around the nail bed. Some bleeding can occur, but don't be alarmed, it's normal and NAB Beauty's skilled technicians know exactly what they're doing to keep you safe and keep your nails from getting any sorts of infections. This process is a much healthier alternative to gel. It is cruelty-free, vegan, hypoallergenic, non-yellowing, long wearing, and quick drying. It can last up to two weeks without chipping IF you take good care of it. I'll be honest, two of my nails on my right hand have already chipped on day 2, but that is because I haven't taken good care of my nails in forever. They're extremely dry and brittle and tend to chip easily. The only reason why I didn't take one star off is because I know for a FACT I could return today and they would fix it free of charge. I sadly just do not have the time. During my appointment, a customer from the day before had a chip in one of her toe nails, and she had returned for a quick fix, which I am presuming is free of charge as I did not see her pay on her way out. I have high respect for these type of businesses because they honor their talent and skills, and their customer satisfaction is their top priority.
