My brother goes here pretty regularly because he says the food is good and it's a good value for steakhouses. He recommended that I get the burger and says that it is one of the best in the city. It was huge and it was delicious and sloppy with all the fixings. And I really enjoyed the shoestring fries, which were crispy but not hard inside. Also upon my brother's recommendation, I got a side of ranch dressing to dip them in and alternated that with ketchup. Very nice. We also got a side of grilled asparagus to share. My brother is a chef and our family bonds over food so he knew exactly what to do for a special enhancement: He squeezed fresh lemon and added salt and pepper,.a simple measure for exquisite flavor. We ate at the bar and the bartender was attentive and helpful. My wife and I went to eat dinner with a reservation. Our server was Elizabeth and she was great. It started a lil choppie since another server started us off. Then Elizabeth had to catchup with our order. The food was well prepared and had good favor. There was a mix of clothing styles. The lighting was good dark enough to be close to your dinning party yet light enough to see what you were eating. We will go back to this restaurant. I was at Lunch with friends on Wednesday 8/5 and was greeted when I walked in by Aaron Hellwig, your manager. Nice guy and very friendly. While having lunch I noticed he mingling with each table. Then brought meals to the table, helping the waiters and taking away the dirty dishes. Filled water glasses and then circle around asking how the food was. I was very impressed by his positive actions. I'd like to compliment him as going above and beyond in his service skills. My usual place for my birthday dinner! 4 pm reservation (the best time by the way) Brandon was our server....absolutely spot on, polite, accurate and pleasant. My family and I visited the Easton location to celebrate my mother's 65th birthday. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. We brought in cupcakes and had to ask the waiter four different times to bring them out. We finally received them about 30 minutes after we had already paid our bill. Then, I ordered two Cajun trout meals to go. I didn't check the bag because my father picked up the meals and everything appeared to be correct. To my surprise, once I arrived home, I realized I did not receive the Cajun rice that comes with the meal. Instead, I received couscous. At no point was it mentioned that the side had been substituted. The service overall was not good, but that was truly the icing on the cake. You should at least receive what you paid for and what was advertised with the meal. To make matters worse, I called to speak with a manager and was left on hold for 10 minutes with no one ever returning to the phone. I called back again, and no one answered. My long time friend , who I had not seen in almost 2 years met me for lunch at the Easton location (My favorite location because of the many windows.). I splurged and ordered the filet with bernaise sauce and stuffed baked potato. The filet was cooked perfectly and was outstanding! My friend ordered the club sandwich with the shoestring French fries.The portions were huge! She really enjoyed it. And the carrot cake that was warm with a melted cream cheese frosting was, as they use to say "Was to die for." We had an awesome, personable and very attentive server. Her name was Laura N. Went there for our 48th wedding anniversary. We were greeted with big smiles and a congratulatory card signed by staff. My wife and I both had the filet Mignon. My wife loves this place for special occasions. She likes the charbroiled steak flavor. We were both very disappointed in our steak (fatty). Her smashed potatoes were not cold but not as hot as she would have liked. We have never been this disappointed in J Alexander's. I'm not sure if they offer a dessert anymore, we were asked several times about ordering and even taking it to go. It was like they were having a dessert contest amongst the employees, which is ok but 3 or 4 requests are a bit much. I'm sure we will be going back for another try but it will be a little while. On March 5, 2026 I was dining at J Alexander's and took a bite of a devil egg and broke a tooth a metal piece in the devil egg. It was my daughter's birthday and all they done was take off the devil eggs they were very rude like I put the metal piece in the food. I am a 65 year old black female with health problems had to have my tooth repaired and the most they offered me was $750 they tried to scare me to take it further. The fact is I wouldn't have went as far as I did if I had been treated like a customer that ordered food anyway and tried to eat but couldn't and they never accommodated the meals. Simply stated this place has delicious food. I enjoyed my meal. Waiter was nice and attentive. PROBLEM: Mouse running around the table across from us. NOT OK. I reported to manager Jordan and she did nothing but say it's getting cold outside so they are trying to come in. Not trying they are. And after spending $100 on a lunch for two this is completely unacceptable at a restaurant of this caliber. I reported to headquarters and they did nothing also. Not even a response. Not that they will look into it. Nothing. Manager does nothing. I have never in all my years ever seen a mouse eating food under a table in a restaurant. I thought it was clean but obviously if mice are out and about in the middle of the day they have a serious issue. If I felt heard or had gotten proper response or action I wouldn't even post this. But it's as though nothing is being done. It's not ok. So hopefully this will bring awareness to the right people at the restaurant to get it clean and get the rodents out! read more

My husband and I met his brother and sister-in-law from the Washington DC area at your Columbus/Easton location. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated in a very friendly and professional manner. Our server was able to answer all questions about the menu offerings and our orders were up in no time at all. We ordered a dinner salad, two orders of the filet mignon kabobs and I had the prime rib (some of the best I have ever eaten!). Visited on a week night, so a reservation wasn't necessary as we were seated right away in a booth. There was plenty of parking too. Our waiter was great, very attentive. There's a large circular bar with some tvs that weren't too loud. There's booth was clean and there was a little lamp that didn't throw off much light. The food didn't take too long and there was a lot of it. I prefer to see images of the dishes and would've appreciated that in the menu. The restaurant itself is typical nicer dining and appeared clean, but I don't know how you can stomach eating here with the level of outright rudeness. YUM I had a wonderful dinner at J Alexander's! We started out with a cocktail and wine, and the chili con queso with chips. The queso was truly AMAZING like some of the best I've ever had. The chips were so fresh, and the queso full of flavor. I will get this appetizer every single time I go back. The service was a 12/10. Our server was so friendly and attentive, and took amazing care of us. For entrees we did prime rib and mashed potato's, crab cakes and fries, and mac and cheese. Multiple times per year for the last few years our event staff looks forward to coming in and enjoying a well deserved meal / drinks. Each year our party of 10+ people have had no problem. This year our party of 6 with a last minute addition making it 7, was told no we can't sit 7. 12:45p non rush, slow time with many empty tables. Our 7th guest was told to sit away from us at the bar. Out of the 6 outside tables, only ours and one other was occupied. He was told he can't even sit at a table next to us on his own bill. Make this make sense. I don't care if your food is great and the beer is cold.. this is ridiculous. A party of 7... is not an inconvenience to you. She received a lot of help with food runners who were willing to assist our waitress when needed. When I visit I usually choose between the chicken with mashed potatoes and side salad or the Alex Salad with grilled chicken. This Sunday I chose the Alex Salad with grilled chicken and I requested for the chicken not to be cut. To my surprise when I received my Alex salad it was smaller than the side salad my fiancé received. We did ask the food runner if there was a mixup in the salads. We received an unexplainable explanation regarding the size difference. So my fiancé once again questioned if there is supposed to be a huge difference in the size of the Alex Salad and the side salad. We never received a real explanation. Once we explained our issue with our waitress, she was very apologetic and eager to help provide an enjoyable dining experience. We only desired an explanation of the huge difference regarding the two salads. We did have a great time together and did not want our date to be ruined over a change in the menu. We just wanted to confirm if the Alex Salad has changed its size, so going forward I would NOT order the Alex Salad again. Hopefully our next visit will be better because I really like J. We went for dinner last night and it was a wonderful dinner! Waitstaff and hostess were very friendly and food came out perfect! My toddler came with us and there was no printed kids meal so we talked to waitress and we're going to order her a side since there wasn't a kids menu. Waitress then informed us they have a kids meal! This was perfect but I do wish they had printed copies of it. I got the ahi tuna salad and it was perfect! Fine not great. We just went for a drink and apps after a long day. Drinks were great, Martinis top notch, love the side car. We had the steak egg rolls and they were good not great, salmon croquettes, good not great, and the Alex Salad which is always a favorite of mine and it was good but needed more dressing and I wish they would toss it. We wanted our own table yet the hostess and then the manager refused to seat us because she assumed we were of party of 7. We were a party of only two. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet they refused to seat us anywhere in the restaurant. They quoted corporate policy but that did not pertain to us. Confused why this place models the hill stone corp but doesn't deliver, the French dip must have been left over from lunch shavings and had already turned to silver in color. The prime rib? Very thick, almost corned beef material and not juicy. Humm, why are the Caesar salad dressings so mayonnaisey? Is this a Columbus thing? I'll admit when we arrived I was a little surprised that the hostess that greeted us wasn't a bit more...enthusiastic. She looked and acted as if her mind was a million miles away. I hoped it was not a sign of things to come. My partner and I exchanged a glance with each other after our hum drum greeting upon arrival. We were promptly greeted by our server, Ashley, who brought us ice cold water and took our drink orders. I had a White Russian, my partner had Cindy's Lemon Drop off the menu. Both were served promptly and were delicious and Ashley took my gentle advice to pass along to the bartender that White Russians should be served unstirred (as mine had been stirred) well. She later let me know the bartender originally put the White Russian in the wrong glass and poured it from a tall glass into the glass it was served in. I appreciated the follow up and was pleased to find my second White Russian served without mixing. They were both delicious as was my partners Lemon Drop. I just feel if Im gonna pay fifteen bucks for a cocktail it be prepared and served appropriately. I mean, you wouldn't serve a Moscow Mule in a glass would you? Nor should you mix or stir a White Russian unless it's at a party in your own home, then all bartending rules go out the window. But I digress. We both ordered the Filet Mignon with Béarnaise cooked Medium and they were both exceptional. My partner is going back to living a whole food vegan lifestyle after I corrupted her with lots of red meat so she's going back but wanted her last steak to be delicious so she chose J. Alexander's. She wasn't disappointed. We shared a piece of Key Lime pie for dessert. It was a big piece and enough for two people who just had dinner and cocktails) and even took some home. As a big Key Lime pie fan, I'd have to say this pie was a 10/10. Exceptional. The entire restaurant that we could see, including the men's restroom, was spotless with pleasant music playing. The music wasn't so loud you couldn't have a conversation. In fact, the volume was perfect. If the manager reads this review, perhaps they could remind their hostesses that they are the first impression a customer has when they walk in. Smile a bit. Be cheerful. Act like you're in the now and happy to be here. Other than the hostess whose mind seemed to be elsewhere, I'd say this is an easy 5/5 stars. If a 4.5 were possible I might've given that solely for the non-cheerful hostess who also seemed to move really slow, but it's either 4 stars or 5 here so a 5 it is cuz I'm not about to dock a whole star for one non-cheerful hostess. We hadn't been to J Alexander's in several years, so on a recent Friday night we decided to stop by for a late dinner on a whim. We had no problem being seated (it was 8:45 PM) in a comfortable booth. This location offers a very attractive upscale interior design and ambiance. Let me cut to the chase... In terms of value for money, we both thought J Alexander's on Stelzer Road (Easton shopping center) was a knockout! The service was great. Haylei was a fun, attentive, and helpful server! And the food was outstanding from start to finish. I started with the Duke Vodka Martini (Tito's) which was a generous pour that included extra in a little pitcher, nestled in a glass of ice. Wow. Haylei offered to add blue cheese green olives, my absolute favorite. At $17 it wasn't cheap, but not out of line with drink prices I've seen recently and, as I said, it was outstanding. I had asked for a side salad (the Alex) and she suggested the two of us split it, which was perfect in terms of serving size. I don't think I could've eaten a whole one. That bought the price down to $3.50 per salad serving. And it was delicious. I especially appreciated the house dressing vinaigrette with just a hint of sweet to offset the tang. Such a great way to start the meal. I had the grilled pork tenderloin ($25) OMG... So delicious. Grilled to perfection, with a perfectly charred crispy tasty exterior and perfectly cooked/juicy inside. It had "bang bang" sauce drizzled on top, which was a delicious accompaniment. The mashed potatoes were rich and so delicious. My partner ordered the French dip sandwich ($24)... This had to be the best French dip I've seen in eons. Fresh super thinly sliced prime beef that looked to be 2 inches thick piled on a Fresh baguette. He is INCREDIBLY picky and it's rare that he judges a restaurant to be worthy of a return visit. After one bite of the French dip, he declared this to be the best restaurant we've dined at in Columbus in several years. He also loved his side... sliced Heirloom tomatoes, lightly seasoned. Normally the French dip comes with french fries but Alexander's is great about letting you substitute in any of the other sides, and they have lots of delicious sounding choices. Honestly... I'm surprised at the number of stars for this place. It was a home run for us... Five stars all the way. We both are looking forward to coming back soon as we want to try the slow roasted prime rib ($41) based on how delicious the French dip was. My only slight concern was spotting the very polite Columbus police officer (I assume off duty, but in uniform) who was standing inside near the entrance to the restaurant. I've heard that Easton has suffered from crime in the last several years so I assume this is meant to be an answer to that. It's a pity. But I suppose that's the world we're in. In any event, I urge you to check out this J Alexander's location... If it's representative of all the other J Alexander's out there, then this chain restaurant is on a roll! read more
