We are trying to be Friday night regulars! Love sitting at the bar. Awesome service from Dave, Blaze and Katie. Amazing French onion soup. And the double chop salad is my new fav. The urban Meyer sirloin is very delicious too.

Friday night date with live music and great food. What else do you need? Service was great, our server was super friendly and checked on us regularly. The live music was a total vibe. The black cherry old fashioned was prob my fave OF version in short north. Do yourself a favor and get the shrimp cocktail! Amazing!!! The steak, potatoes, salad and bread basket were all just as amazing.

Forgot my butter so they brought me a dry steak. Then brought be like warm butter in hindsight.

Well unfortunately a slightly below average experience. Ambiance is good. Staff is pleasant. The downfall was I heard this place was the BEST! They feel very short of best in class. They served cold to lil warm sides and when we requested a warm one they still served a cold one. Checks and balances are missing. Too bad with such a friendly accommodating staff this meal fell short. Also they serve warm soda bottles over ice. That immediately flattens the drink. I will say I was hungry and although plain and lacking flavor the steak was tender and ate the entire piece. They charged us for everything and the said they wanted to offer us dessert for the inconveniences however none of us wanted any. You'd think they would've comped something on the bill then but nope.

I wish I took more pictures to add to this review! We made a last minute reservation on a Saturday night, but it was no problem for our party of 4. We accidentally headed to the wrong location but they said it was no problem that we were a few mins late! We got a great table on the other side of the bar which had a great view of the band! The band was great and added to the ambience! Our waiter was fantastic! Helpful with wine and dish recommendations! We all loved everything! The basket of bread is interesting with pretzel rolls! I had the Filet Kosar with lobster and it was cooked perfectly! The menu and dinner was pricey, but well worth it for a special night out!

Food was delish but service was 10/10! Seriously, our waiter was amazing, quick, patient and super awesome. We had a table of 11 and anytime we needed anything, he was there. Myself and two friends split the jumbo lump crab cocktail which was delish and plenty despite sharing it. We also split the Ryan Day ribeye , mashed potatoes, and wild mushrooms. We had leftovers. Everything was perfectly prepared. Had a great experience. Highly recommend

I had a very great experience here. It was my first time and I will definitely be back. Ordered the 22oz porterhouse and shared it with my boyfriend. They offered to cut it up for us so it would be easier to eat. Staff was nice and friendly. We asked if they could take our picture and they did it without any complaints. They had live music playing and it tried the atmosphere together.

As many times as I've been to HP, I've actually never tried their happy hour. We finally were able to make it! The short north location has a b pretty big bar which lots of room but it was still filling up quickly. We split the chopped salad (not on HH but my favorite), the carpaccio, and tenderloin sliders. All were great! One star off because receiving two slides for $14 kinda felt wrong. 3 would've made more sense but they were small and a super small chunk of steak so I don't think I'd order them again. The carpaccio was good. I did have to ask our server for both bread multiple times as well as the happy hour menu. He was the only bartender not telling people about happy hour...

The food was AMAZING! Our waiter was one of the best we have came across. The two women that checked us in at the front wasn't very friendly or welcoming. We didn't let that ruin our time. Can't wait to visit again and drink more of their amazing wine and food.

26 oz bone in ribeye, 40 day aged, special.

It's been a while since I returned to this Hyde Park location. The ambiance is fabulous as always. The service was good -- efficient and polite. They have an extensive wine list and I really enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon I ordered. The wedge salad was quite good -- large enough for two and we shared. I should have asked for the dressing on the side though as it was drenched in the blue cheese. We ordered and shared the 40 day aged ribeye (26 oz) special that we shared among the two of us. The steak was extremely tender and you could taste the funkiness of the aging process (in a good way --- not over the top). However, the steak was also over-salted in a few places, which was disappointing. The side of spinach and mushrooms was pretty good. The chocolate torte was excellent! Very rich so I was glad the server brought a cup of milk out to cut the richness.

I don't know how Hyde Park doesn't have 5 star reviews on Yelp but I hope this review helps anyone making a decision on where to go for an upscale experience. I love the high street location because sitting outside is sooo amazing when the weather is nice. Nothing beats the gorgeous classy old school steak house vibe and their servers are so wonderful. Now let's get to the good part, the food. When I tell you this was one of the best steaks I've had in Columbus I mean it. This thing was cooked to perfect and the flavor was unbelievable. Every steak I have had at other places has been terrible in comparison because all I want is Hyde Park's steak. We got calamari for the appetizer and it was gone within minutes it was so good. Their bread is also some of the best bread I've ever eaten (we got extra bread it was so good). You can't go wrong with any of the sides but the mashed potatoes were amazing. If you're looking to splurge on a delicious meal. Please check this spot out!

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here recently and enjoyed some high quality and delicious food and drinks. From wagyu beef carpaccio, smoked old fashion, to bone in steak, 4 cheese Mac & cheese, and more were all super delicious and cooked to the perfection . Classy interior with a gentle ambiance. But...I wouldn't say, personally, that I had a good time, & here is why: Service wise, Our server did everything he supposed to m. He brought out a complementary birthday dessert for our daughter when it was time, in addition to the banana frost we ordered . but he also has been doing things that were so subtle, he probably didn't even realize it, that made me feel very uncomfortable. 1st, as i was checking out the Rare Spirit drinks menu, he said something like this " these are very expensive drinks, why don't you look at the ones on the other menu" and closed the rare menu then pulled the bigger menu in front of me. 2nd, After he brought my smoked old-fashioned to the table, without saying anything, he walked right off to bring things to another table, then he came back around and said to me "YOU could've taken the drink out by yourself", as a travel food blogger, based on my experience the waiter always take the drink out of the smoke box for the customer, especially for a high-end steakhouse like this. This was a first to me. ‍ 3rd, when he was making the Irish Coffee, he was rushing to put out the fire on the sugar cube by using anything he could find on the table without considering if it was sanitary or not ... seriously, what was the rush. 4th, this waiter never had a smile on his face and has been rushing the whole time he was serving us, despite we were the very first customers for that day, there was no other table when we first arrived. There were no small talks like most the high-end restaurant waiters will do. I certainly understand it's not required, but it is a unwritten etiquette. @WineDinenVacay do recommend this restaurant to all steak lovers & foodies, at the same time....Highly recommend management to conduct staff retraining on appropriate service etiquettes in settings like this.

Great food and service. Would recommend a reservation but they are able to accommodate small groups at the bar area or a small table with a little wait. Very clean place with a lot of good high end options for both food and drinks

The size of their cake is astounding

I started off with the bacon, was so big and delicious I couldn't finish it. Ended up taking it home and eating it the next morning, just as delicious. I got the steak, medium... was perfect. Little sweeter. Highly recommended, 5 out of 5.

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

Pair a stop either before or after to one of German Village's great restaurants and you're in for a special, albeit pricey night. In addition to fantastic drinks, Lawbird offers cocktail tasting classes from time to time which are a fun way to get sauced early in the day. And you will get sauced. If the owners keep up the good thing they have going - this will become an iconic establishment in the city. I hope they do. I've been more than 20 times so far and never get bored. Cheers!

Cocktail vibe is more "laid-back friends talking over creative drinks" than sultry, romantic date spot. Tons of natural light means this cocktail bar has had some of my *favorite* cocktail bar photos I've ever taken. It's so pretty in here. NOTES: -During pop-ups, walk-ins are near-impossible on weekends and not likely on weekdays. Make a reservation if you want to make sure you'll have a spot. -No dedicated parking lot. 3-hour-limit free residential parking all around Law Bird, though. We generally have to walk 2 or 3 blocks from parking to Law Bird. Be aware this is German Village, and you're looking at cobblestone sidewalks for high heel and accessibility purposes. -Law Bird mostly has small party seating. If you have a larger group you want to seat during a pop-up, make SURE to get that reservation in early. They have the single 8-person table. -They have snackies and food. Portion sizes are small (despite what the prices may suggest), though, so this is not generally a place to eat a full meal. All of the food is super flavorful, though, so definitely a great snack to add on. PROS: -Keeping things fresh, they regularly host cute seasonal events, new drinks, and pop-up events. In recent memory, I know they've done a Cherry Blossom one, a Spooky Halloween one, and a Christmas one. -They go ALL OUT for their pop-ups. It isn't just a brand new, professionally-printed menu (no pieces of paper with 4 seasonal drinks here). It's also all of their interior decor, bathroom decorations, bartop decorations, and more. Ceiling decor too! They get all up in there. It's really fun to see the space transformed constantly. -Between the new menus and the constantly-new decorations of their space, I love regularly popping into Law Bird. -I LOVE the creativity of the menus, and I LOVE that they offer cocktail classes. (I haven't taken one yet, but I'm excited to!) The menu has unique drinks, served with unique garnishes. They have a few "sugar cocktails", but for the most part, Law Bird drinks tend to be complex and spirit-forward. -Their "themed" bathrooms (even with their own themed music playlists) make me happy. They have two unisex, single room restrooms. CONS: -If you come during a pop-up with a smaller group, they will enforce their reservation time limit of 1.5 hours. This isn't necessarily the end of the world, but the times when they enforce their limits is when they have more customers waiting - and tend to be when the place is at capacity. When they're at-capacity, the bar staff and service staff is a lot busier, with drink service taking longer and servers checking in a lot less. This means we usually only have had the chance to place 2 drink orders during that 1.5 hour time limit before they ask us to leave. This can be rough (to try most of the drinks on a limited time menu) unless you're sharing drinks with your tablemates. If you still want to continue your evening with your friends after that 1.5 hour limit, Antiques on High, Daily Growler, and Cobra are easily walkable from here. -During their pop-ups on weekends, time between placing a drink order and receiving the drink has usually been around 15 to 20 minutes. Not the end of the world as you get to socialize with friends, but again, with the time limit, that can be a bit rough.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
