Ivar's has both a sit0in restraint and this Fish Bar which is a counter serve area. In the counter serve area there is also a tent or dock area where you can eat overlooking the water. To be fair, the environment in the tent sitting area was a bit messy and the seagulls definitely hung around......but given that it is right on the water, it is what you can expect.....plus the food is amazing. As much as I love Ivar's Acres of Clams, Ivar's Fish Bar is amazing as well! It's a quick-service, more casual way to experience Ivar's with a pared-down menu. The seating area is extremely no frills but is right on the water and has a fantastic view. I had shrimp and fries with a cup of their red chowder (clam chowder with a tomato base instead of a cream one). The staff were very knowledgeable and quickly able to answer a couple of questions I had about the menu. While they don't have bathrooms right at the fish bar, you are able to go into the actual restaurant and use them if needed. There is a little covered seating area with basically picnic benches and it kept the elements out. I'd definitely recommend getting the Cajun seasoning, and I preferred the cod but that's a preference thing. Not too greasy, and the breading fell off the cod easy so it's probably easier to eat with your hands. Serving size for the fish n chips was great, the shrimp was lacking. Workers seem very tired and overworked, thus come off brusk (which idc but if you do try the Alki location instead). This location two stars. There is also another location on Alki (also tourist trap) but slightly cheaper and way better quality. Idk why. This location easily gets three stars. I did try the fish at the Alki location once and it was good. Here a serving fills me, the other locations leave me wishing there was just a bit more. And the workers generally are more friendly and seem to enjoy their job. They also have a great wall of pictures and historical information. The Renton location was more like the Pier location but I have only been once. Service was nice. Two star as in I would eat there again since it is one of the only place in that part of Renton I can find anything to eat. I mean they are all walk ups so not fine dining. They all have the ambiance of a fast food cafe from the 1970-80s so counter service, fast food, but I never feel like I am at like Burger King, etc. Smaller portions and tastes less fresh plus costs more.
