    Lake Union

After several years, we visited Duke's on South Lake Union for a birthday dinner. Duke's has returned to this lake front location after the restaurant had shuttered for a few years and other businesses occupied the space. There are a couple parking lots and on the street parking is availablebforvthe adventurous. Duke's has stairs and an elevator that lead you from the entry level upstairs to the main dining area. The view of the lake and surrounding area from the restaurant is great! We started with chowders (New England and Lobster) that were quite tasty Next up were our entrees. Three of us went with salad entrees ((un)chopped seafood and the Dungeness Crab). The (un) chopped arrived with skewers of shrimp and scallops. I added a tiny lobster tail to my version of the salad. None of the seafood was overcooked. The Dungeness Crab salad had bibb lettuce, bacon, almonds, bell peppers, tomatoes, and a honey-raspberry vinaigrette. The other person in our party of four went with fish and fries and appeared to thoroughly enjoy it as not a speck of food remained on his plate. For dessert, we chose the carrot cake and the Peerless Pier Pie. The service was great and the front of the house and waiters were welcoming. An all around nice experience! There were other options from the menu that I look forward to exploring on return visits.

Had a reservation (booked online) and was seated right away on a Saturday afternoon. Parking is $8 or so, so plan accordingly. Service was quick and friendly and we had a heated outdoor table (heaters were a little toasty on the face but still a nice addition). Food was amazing and felt light and fresh. The dessert was great too and it's well worth the visit to try this place!

Exceptional service, good food and beautiful view. Many things to choose from including many salads, make choosing a chore but always a reward. Strong flavors and good bar and wine choices. Marionberry pie was fantastic. Unfortunately at the time there wasn't a good wine pairing with it, but I appreciated the staff not just trying to push random wine on me in lieu of a good match. Now I got to find a gym though.

We came here after a visit to MOHAI. It was happy hour which was perfect. We sat at a table across from the bar and ordered some drinks and snacks to share. I got their Blueberry Lemon Drop martini which was perfect for my sweet tastebuds and my friend got the New York Old Fashioned which he also enjoyed. For snacks, we were brought complimentary bread and then we ordered their Dungeness Crabby Deviled Egg and Wildly Delicious Alaska Salmon Sliders. Both were very tasty. The views here were great and staff were friendly. I would enjoy coming back again to try more of their food.

Great views...good food...wonderful service. I would highly recommend the clam chowder paired with the warm bread that they bring out to you. It's heaven. I wasn't a big fan of the crab dip, but my husband and son loved it. For dinner, I would recommend blackened halibut even though it is not on the menu. The grilled trio was yummy although I would recommend asking it to be blackened as well. Duke's is located in a nice area and gives you a choice of sitting outside by the water or inside where you could have access to tv's. We shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and had a very relaxing evening enjoying some seafood overlooking the water.

The atmosphere is great with a nice view and friendly staff. The background music has that 80s to 90s vibe mixed with Heartland rock and rock and roll. It fits the place well. The restaurant is a little on the fancy side. My wife talked me into going. I felt a bit uncomfortable at first because the crowd did not seem very mixed, maybe because it was during lunch. We did not see much of the usual mix of people who go out during the day. Even with that, the vibe and atmosphere were good and I was enjoying it. Our server came to our table about 5 to 7 minutes after we sat down. The appetizer arrived around 15 to 17 minutes which was fairly fast considering the place was not busy. The food took much longer, about 43 minutes from when we arrived. It was slow at first but then started getting busier. Maybe that explains the delay but it still felt like a long wait for just two plates. The place is mellow and the parking lot has plenty of space. The only issue is you still have to pay for parking even if you are dining there. This is the first restaurant I have been to where you pay to park just to eat. Overall it is a good place with a nice atmosphere and decent service but the long wait and parking situation bring it down. I give it a 7 out of 10.

On my recent trip to the Pacific Northwest, a pang of seafood craving hit me like a ton of bricks. It was a balmy and beautiful evening in Seattle when I meticulously researched every single restaurant in the area and decided on Duke's. Beautiful views, fresh seafood and an hour to sunset? What's not to love about this decision. From the moment I entered this establishment, it was pure joy. The host, server and staff were all incredibly kind to a solo diner like me. I was seated on the outside patio facing the water and soaked the views of the marina in as the sun began to set. It was so incredibly beautiful and memorable. I started with half a dozen oysters - they were fresh and shelled perfectly with the liquid intact and served with a lime granita that was out of this world. These were the best oysters I had on my entire trip! My only regret? Not ordering more. I also ordered the crab "un" cake - a signature dish from what I gathered. I enjoyed this very much and really appreciated the refreshing avocado tower it came with. The crispiness on the outside of this crab cake really did it for me! However, my east coast Baltimore crab cake fanatic self did wish there was more lump crab meat in it. For my main I went with a blackened salmon filet on a blue cheese salad with fresh blueberries. The chunks of cheese, the dressing and succulent blueberries were absolutely out of this world. The server told me they soak the blueberries in juice before adding them in?? Just. Wow. The salmon was fresh as ever, prepared perfectly with the right textures, flavors and seasonings. This is one of the best seafood restaurants in the city, and with an unforgettable view and ambiance, it has to be your no brainer choice for a beautiful meal that satisfies all the five senses!

Duke's has a great location with awesome views! Our server was amazing, and did a great job helping our table. Overall the food was okay at best. The table wasn't impressed at all. The food is overpriced and the portions will leave you moving on to the next spot to get a satisfied belly. It's also disappointing that the owner supports some unpopular national policy. We learned this post meal, if we knew before we would've skipped Duke's altogether and avoided the disappointment in the barely okay food. The money question, would I visit again. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS. Oh yeah the drinks were mediocre too.

This place has only let me down once in 22 years and that was a dessert. Otherwise always great. Best chowder in the west. Fantastic cocktails. And a blue corn tortilla fish taco? Yes please

On this visit, we ordered the unforgettable seacod tacos, Kodiak Island Halibut Macadamia and Fresh Berry White Chocolate Shortcake. We were served water and hot sourdough bread with butter. It was about 3pm and we had better service than dinner time. The views were great, service was good and we had an enjoyable meal. The Halibut was fresh but the potato, rice and vegetable dishes were so so. We also had the clam chowder, grilled wild salmon with rice and vegetables on another visit closer to dinner time. This time, we sat outside. Although the soup was great and the fish fresh, the side dishes were so so and we felt rushed by the server! On another visit closer to 7pm, we tried the lobster mac and cheese as well as cod fish and chips. The lobster mac and cheese dish was delicious. However, the cod fish and chips was dissappointing.. The fish was a bit hard and not like the South center location. Maybe the quality dropped as it was very crowded and busy. Views were great and we sat inside. What drew me back was curiosity over the large menu of fish dishes. Last but not least, I love their sourdough bread!

It's so nice to be able to go and eat outside, on the water. We took my son here for his birthday lunch, and was absolutely amazing food. The service was quick, the food was fresh and the dessert was amazing!

The restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not asking too much. I believe the owner said he was trying to revamp the place. I hope that the area comes alive in the future years, that should help. Here's the issue though, this is the slowest spot ever. I've waited 30 minutes for fries - FRIES. I don't mind waiting for food, but it should remain reasonable. There were only two or three people working, and one man did tell us this, but I need to be honest - this was on Super Bowl Sunday. No one was able to get anyone a beer from the tap for 40 minutes, the food took forever and it appeared that online orders were being prioritized (which makes sense, you make as you get orders coming in, but that puts your in person customers in an odd and sometimes frustrating position). To be honest, I probably wouldn't have minded as much if I just had some fries to snack on. I didn't mind as much this one time because I was just happy to find a place to watch the Super Bowl Half Time show, but other days, it's a little hard to look past. I wish this business the best, I live too close to not hope for its improvement! Looking forward to updating my review. At the end of the day, if you're hungry, it's late, this is your spot.

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

I didn't expect much out of these, but they were surprisingly good. The rice is cooked perfectly, sticky and tender, yet each grain is distinctive and almost bouncy, giving great mouthfeel. The musubi seems to be dipped in a small amount of soy sauce, although not enough to cover the entire rice surface. The additional sodium isn't really needed in the first place due to the salty and meaty kick the spam on top gives the handheld snack. It's a classic combination for a good reason! (4/5) For the Food Walk special, they only give a small scoop of mac salad. I'm sure the normal side portion for $5.94 is much larger. The salad is unspectacular but solid. It's a little sweet, a bit peppery, and certainly very creamy. There's a bit of julienned carrot included that isn't particularly crunchy, being soaked in the mayo sauce. The macaroni itself isn't mushy or overcooked, so it still has some texture. (4/5) I don't usually expect much out of food court restaurants, but Aloha Plates definitely surprised me with their quality. It seems like a solid option for Hawaiian.

Perhaps the Lao Burger served there wasn't as juicy and succulent, with perfectly crisp smashed patties as I recalled? Or perhaps Taurus Ox just serves a completely inferior version. I revisited for a Friday late dinner to reach the bottom of things. This was at around 8PM and the place was surprisingly busy, with a fully running kitchen and almost all seats taken. It's a pretty small restaurant to begin with, but since the food comes fast, people don't typically stay too long. By the time our food arrived, a table had cleared up for us. Lao Burger ($18) - This Lao Burger is just as good as my first visit. Absolutely perfectly fried smash patties, completely with lacy, crispy edges that provide texture and an intense caramelized meaty flavor. I've already described the burger in detail in my previous review - what I can say on this visit is that the burger is basically identical, indicating that Ox Burger is consistent with cook and construction. The burger as a whole has the perfect moisture level with plenty of unique funky, umami-full flavors that make each bite a delight. As with my previous review, two things come to mind that detract just a tiny bit from my full enjoyment. Firstly, the burger as a whole is a bit salty for my tastes, necessitating several trips to refill my cup of water Secondly, the piece of sliced pork belly included is kind of vestigial. It seems to be only there to add additional salt, because neither the flavor nor texture are very apparent while eating. (5/5) Deluxe ($15) - This burger is somehow way messier than the Lao to eat. Upon lifting it up, a mess of watery mustard/mayo mix drips onto the plate. I think it might be from the extra moisture in the tomatoes and lettuce. And yet, somehow the bun isn't soggy at all. This burger is otherwise excellent, combing the same picture perfect smash patties as in the Lao, with the classic fixings - American cheese, bacon, pickles, and plenty of veggie mix. (5/5) I'm glad I gave the Lao Burger another chance. It's now one of my favorite burgers in the city. I'll definitely be coming back to Ox Burger for more. The progenitor, Taurus Ox, remains on my not recommended list though! Bathrooms - Single unisex room.
