Bar Harbor is a casual and convenient marine-themed spot in SLU for Happy Hour, lunch, and dinner. They are located at the bottom floor of the 400 Fairview building and are known for their seafood dishes including Crabcake Sliders, and Crab, Lobster, and Shrimp Rolls. They also serve comfort food favorites like New England Bacon and Clam Chowder, French Dips, and Mac n' Cheese. They have a good variety of cocktails too, including my favorite, the Painkiller, as well as some experimental mocktails (in fact, the owner will sometimes host mocktail making classes!). On past visits, I've had their... HAND ROLLED PRETZEL KNOTS ($12) - salty and buttery pretzel bites served with honey mustard and ricotta chive sauces on the side. These were nice and warm and I loved the soft and chewy texture. However, I personally, I found myself scraping the salt off because they were overly salty, but I wonder if I might be able to order them unsalted or if they are already pre-salted. DEVILED EGGS ($11) - your classic hardboiled egg with a rich and creamy mayo, egg yolk, and mustard filling, topped with bacon, pickled pepper, and chive. A great appetizer choice to start with and I enjoyed the variety of textures and savory tastes. CHICKEN SKEWERS ($14) - these were tender, well-marinated, and perfectly grilled. They were a hit on a hot summer day and came with a creamy romesco sauce (a smoky Spanish sauce made from roasted red peppers, nuts, garlic, and olive oil). MAINE LOBSTER ROLL ($31 for a single, $47 for a double) - Bar Harbor's signature dish served with your choice of style (Maine - a little mayo, Connecticut - warm, butter poached, or New England - mayo, celery and chive) and side (chips, slaw, or salad). I opted for the Maine style with salad and it was absolutely fantastic - no need to book a trip to the east coast. The lobster was sweet, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The hoagie roll was nicely toasted and crunchy on the inside. The salad had a light balsamic vinaigrette and was a great complement to the rich roll. Even though I ordered only a single lobster roll, I couldn't even finish the whole dish because of how filling and protein-packed the roll was. CRAB STREET TACOS ($19 for 3) - These tacos are a great alternative if you're looking for something less heavy than the crabcake sliders or the crab roll. They are also served with your choice of side (chips, slaw, or salad). It comes as a set of three and are topped with pico de gallo and a Mayo-based sauce. These are sure to satisfy any seafood lover- No complaints here! CRABCAKE SLIDERS ($19 for 3) - Soft the inside, crispy on the outside, and packed with crab, these sliders do not disappoint! The crab tastes super fresh and are not overly oily either. While Bar Harbor is open all year round, make sure to stop by in the spring and summertime when the Fairview patio and their second bar window are open. I showed up Monday afternoon during the happy hour (M-F 3-6 pm), and while I was tempted to get a lobster roll, I used the opportunity to try multiple foods thanks to their happy hour prices! I opted for 3 different dishes: 1/2 dozen oysters, crabcake sliders, and New England clam chowder. -Oysters: I really enjoyed the oysters! Incredibly fresh and only $2 a piece during happy hour! It's located in some type of food hall kind of thing and there is a bar. The kitchen was cool because it's placed right next to the dining area so it was cool to watch our food be prepared. Granted I dont get lobster rolls that much, I thought it was solid. I really like the celery in the new england style! Roll was $27 and comes with a salad or slaw. Probably is a bit pricier than other places, but at the least I didnt feel like they skimped on lobster meat. Slaw was pretty light and I think it could use a little more flavor but I guess it's ok that way since you get a lot. One of my friends told me that this is his fave lobster roll spot so I knew I had to check it out! We went on a holiday and it was pretty quiet. My husband and I both got the Connecticut roll and asked for hot butter on the side. The bread was warm and perfectly buttered up. The lobster serving was not bad but def not as much as the other lobster rolls spots we've been to in the Seattle area. The clam chowder was delicious. It's on the thinner side, but I prefer that style. It's not as salty or too clammy as other chowders so I was able to eat more of it. The service is good! Pretty solid lobster roll! Came here on a Wednesday to check this spot out and we ordered from the outside patio area. Lots of seating. They also have an indoor area with seated service. (Note: they only do happy hour in their main restaurant, not in the outdoor area) I got the lobster roll with chips (it's a bag of chips) and the clam chowder. We were in Seattle for 24 hours, passing through and we found this place near our hotel. We walked in and they were immediately super friendly. We ordered a cup of their clam and bacon chowder, a French dip and their BBLT, their take on the BLT. Everything came out quickly and was delicious! The "cup" of chowder was huge, what most places would call a bowl. My sandwich was tasty and I really enjoyed it. They had several beers on tap and lots more in cans in the fridge. Came for happy hour, and left a very happy. The happy hour oysters were two dollars each and you must buy either half a dozen or a full dozen at a time. It felt like a really great deal also had the five dollar crab sliders. Those were so bomb that I ordered three more and for that happy hour crunch got the nachos which is simple, but for the price I would get it again. Originally was going to visit my friend and make pho but she decided it was too nice out to be stuck inside so we wandered here for some HH oysters and drinks. I really enjoy coming here; staff is great, the food yummy, you get to people watch, and meet their fur child. Oyster was not in season as they are spawning so we ordered other things on the menu. My friend ordered lobster taco and devilled eggs and I got the crab cake grilled cheese. Everything is pretty yummy here. Drinks are also really strong and delicious. This is such a lowkey spot for some good food in the SLU area. Came here to meet with a friend while I was in town. They have mostly picnic tables outside and a couple of bistro style seats. I got take out, but did get to enjoy the outdoor seating for a bit while I waited for my food. I arrived not too long after opening, so there weren't many people there and social distancing was easy. I was really impressed by the service, and I think it's pretty hard to make much of an impression on a take out order, so that says a lot. I got the Maine lobster roll with a side of slaw ($22) and a cup of New England clam chowder ($10). The roll was as yummy as it looked but the chowder didn't really do it for me, unfortunately. It was thinner than I expected and a little bland. It definitely wasn't bad, but next time I would try something else for an appetizer instead. I think the deviled eggs are calling to me. I was able to get a really good craft cocktail for takeout, as well, which was the old fashioned du jour (I believe it involved bacon in some way that day). They'll mix you up a single to take home, or you can do a little bottle that has enough for 3-4 drinks in it, which seemed to be the better deal, so I did that. It turned out to be totally worth it - def get yourself some craft cocktails to take home! If you can't find street parking, which can definitely be a challenge in this area, parking in the building is expensive. I was only there for 15 mins and it was like $7. Also, I had never been here before and was a bit confused on where to go to order my food, since the indoor dining area was still closed due to covid restrictions and that's the first thing you see when you come up from the parking garage. The double lobster roll here was delicious! We had it New England style and the chive and celery were so fresh in every bite. I came here with a couple friends for lunch. We tried the Lobster Roll (New England and Connecticut style), the clam chowder, and the crab dip. The crab dip was super yummy, creamy and bright.
