Chinook's Seafood Restaurant is a great spot for classic Pacific Northwest seafood with beautiful marina surroundings. We visited the Friday after Thanksgiving and arrived around 5 PM, hoping to beat the crowds--and luckily, we did. The restaurant was still fairly calm before the evening rush arrived. We had hoped to take advantage of Chinook's Happy Hour, but learned that the Happy Hour menu is only available at the bar, not at dining tables. Since we wanted an easy, relaxed conversation, we decided to stay seated at our table instead. Our server, Marilyn A, seemed a bit frazzled, likely because she had several tables to manage at once, but she was clearly trying her best to keep up and serve everyone promptly. We started with fresh Kumamoto and Totten Inlet oysters, which were delicious--clean, briny, and very fresh. For our entrées we ordered the wild salmon burger, salmon and chips, and the classic Caesar salad. All were enjoyable and satisfying choices, especially if you're in the mood for simple, well-prepared seafood. We skipped dessert since we had just returned from Leavenworth and had fresh sugar and gingerbread cookies waiting for us at home--a sweet ending we were already looking forward to. As always, the food was delicious. The oysters in particular were fantastic. So fresh and so juicy. The complimentary bread was also so delicious. We asked the oysters to arrive first and then the calamari, which were both before our main entrees. The server delivered exactly on the order and we really appreciated it. The ambiance easily is one of the most unique views in the city, I would say. Overlooking the rows of harbored boats, there does not exist many restaurants that can rival the ambiance here. Also, pretty much every seat in the house has the same view, so you really can't go wrong if you wanted to impress someone here. We went for lunch, but anytime of the day really works here. I couldn't leave Seattle without at least stopping here. this is seafood paradise. Primarily it's about the salmon but there's plenty of other seafood options to please anyone. you cannot go wrong with the fish and chips particularly their lingcod. It's a very flaky fish that's full of flavor, and their fries are nice too. They have fresh king salmon and fresh silver salmon. I couldn't really tell the difference. They both taste like salmon to me. Very fresh and cooked to perfection served with potatoes. there's this buttery sauce they add to it. It's ok. If you love salmon you will definitely enjoy this dish, but I would still recommend you get the salmon fish and chips. There's one dish to definitely avoid. It was on the specials menu. They called is "salmon poke". It wasn't poke at all but cooked pieces of salmon and cabbage swimming in teriyaki sauce. It tastes as bad as it sounds. So if you see it avoid it. read more

A friend took me to Chinook's to celebrate my birthday. I ordered 3 local oysters, which were great! Then shrimp tempura, just delicious. The accompanying fries were crispy and good. Been awhile since I have visited my friend and I were coming back from Everett and trying to figure out where to catch lunch when she said Chinooks I didn't hesitate to say yes. My go to is usually their Tombo Tuna Salad if it's on the menu for summer , or the blackened fish tacos. I had the tacos today. Their cannery bread is always so delicious comes out immediately warm herbed and buttery delicious. Tacos did not disappoint love the mango salsa. My friend got the halibut fish and chips but opted for a side of vegetable instead of fries. Which was beautiful asparagus yesterday afternoon. This place has so many windows, there is not a bad seat in the house! We got a table right at the window, and had a beautiful view of the docked boats. We started with a Bloody Mary and lemonade. They were both delicious. They serve a bread basket as soon as they bring drinks. We ordered oysters to start which were great! Fish n chips were a solid 8 out of 10 and the rock fish tacos were good, they had pineapples, mangos, and kiwi on them, different but good. Went to Chinook's on a friend's recommendation. It was awesome! We had great views of the marina and excellent food. The fresh strawberry lemonade was excellent, the shrimp fettuccine was great, and the Caesar salad was to die for. The dressing was light, refreshing, and perfect! Hands down my favorite seafood restaurant in the Seattle area. This is a regular dinner location for me monthly. I've never had a bad dish, and the service is always top notch. Chinook's has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and a beautiful view of the water, and it's the kind of place that feels right for both a casual date night or a family outing. The kids were happy to get paper menus with crayons, which kept them entertained with coloring and activities while we waited for our food. We ordered the lingcod and chips and the blue plate special, while the kids chose burgers. Everything came out looking generous, but overall the food was just okay. It was all pretty heavy. The blue plate special in particular had a thick, mayo-like coating on the fish that made it feel overly rich and hard to finish. The kids didn't finish their burgers, and when I tried a bite the patty was very dry and tough to chew, which was disappointing. That said, I still enjoy coming to Chinook from time to time. The ambiance, the view, and the memories made here make it special. I just wish the food lived up to the setting a little more. read more

Highly recommend the smoked salmon fettuccine, unfortunately the BBQ Garlic Prawns appetizer was comically bad and looked nothing like the other pictures in the reviews on here. It only had 5 small shrimp mixed in with some potatoes, and was SO OILY it was almost inedible. No garlic flavor, no seasoning, literally just oil. Great dinner! We were here for a business dinner with about 20 people, and occupied two large tables in a quiet back room. I ordered the rainbow trout off their specials menu, after first asking the waiter how big the fish was and whether or not I'd find bones in it. He said he thought the trout was very good, and that no, I would not find any bones. The trout came with broccolini and potatoes. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was good, but not the best I've had. I'd give it a rating of 3-1/2 or 4 on it. The trout, on the other hand, was amazing. Very, very tasty. No bones, at all, and the meat pulled easily off the skin. This was probably the best trout I've had in years, and would happily order it again. I don't understand why it came with a cup of tartar sauce, as I wasn't about to ruin such a tasty filet of fish with it. Kudos on a very nice dinner! read more

Chinook's is under the Anthony's umbrella of so many locations, and this is my favorite of all of them. As family members go, it's the laid back, cool and chill favorite aunt of the family. Very comfortable window seating with a nice view of the docks of Salmon Bay. The food is the usual Anthony fare with seasonal specialties, and it always seems to be made well. I hate to tip my hand and let the word out, but there is a dynamic duo that works the bar, and they are great at service. They've been there awhile, they are friendly, and they take care of us. No self-respecting institution should have Manhattan clam chowder as it's advertised dish.. especially when you serve the real stuff from New England. This spot is an oft-overlooked Seattle institution. Mostly because of the views, but the food is solid-teetering-on-great. Most places that are on the water in Seattle do not have great food and are just tourist traps. Fried food is definitely a good way to go here, I was slightly disappointed by the shrimp fettuccine. Mostly because of those tiny little baby shrimp. They're almost like the veal of shrimp. The reason you come here though, and I'm not even a big dessert guy, is the peach cobbler. I think this is just a seasonal thing, but it's a top 5 restaurant dessert I've had in my life. There's something about the phenomenal peach flavor, warm sweet bread, and cold ice cream all coming together in a perfect bite. You guys nailed this one. I have a soft spot for this restaurant. Being Croatian and Norwegian, I come from a long line of fishermen. Visiting here is remarkable. If you step outside Chinooks before your reservation, you will see actual fishing boats , nets and pictures of lost loved fishermen . Memorials to those lost in sea are both plentiful and heartbreaking. Any visit to Chinook's is not complete, without visiting the memory sites to those lost in sea. Upon entering Chinooks, another poignant reminder are the antique fish packing brand containers on the wall. My grandfather, my father, my uncle and my brother all worked in the fishery industry. And, they all recognize these Bellingham/Alaska seafood containers. This spot holds incredible memories for me and all the other fishermen who risked their lives at sea. I always enjoy the banter you have with the hosts, as they show you to your seat. I believe it sets a mood. Great small talk and implied interest from our host. A welcoming touch. I like to take my elderly father here for all you can eat nights, usually on Monday. We start out with the hot bread, which he loves. I can usually order a clam chowder, which he will decline ordering. But will happily eat the majority of it, once I offer it to him. He loves a bargain and loves to order much ore than he can eat. We have had the all you can eat fish and chips special and the fried shrimp special. Unlimited amount of seafood is a highlight in his life. He loves eating way too much and figuring he got a bargain. On that note, I took him here for a celebration of his marriage in late life( at 87) He and his new wife ordered everything they could, as I was paying. Fresh salmon, tasty chowder, crab cakes, vegetables and a delicious variety of ice cream desserts. They both had such a wonderful meal.We were all so full after leaving here. And more than satisfied with the fresh seafood we received. In the past, I was so happy, taking my daughter here when she was young. She loved the boats, nets and seagulls. She would run out to feed the seagulls from the bread basket, as we waited for our food. She loved the clam chowder here and fish and chips. On another three occasions, I took a group of students here from Singapore. They ordered a variety of seafood dishes, I'm not a real oyster fan, but their fried oysters made me a fan, with their spices and slight crunch. Chinook's is a good ol'fashioned family seafood restaurant with a lovely view of the boats and their catch of the day. The service staff are on top of things and provide service without asking (beverage refills). While the ambiance is family style, it can get a little bit noisier than most restaurants due to its open plan nature. I had the calamari and Caesar salad , both were delicious- my friend had the clam chowder that had a good amount of chunky goodies in it and he also had the chinook copper river salmon and raved about both! I live in the area so this place is an easy go to for a delicious seafood meal or a burger. They also have a bar that is fun to sit at and have a beverage and an appetizer or dinner for one. Just amazing! There is ample seating, I would ask to be seated by the water; there may be a little bit of a wait. But trust me, the view is it's worth it. To start, we had the bay oysters and pacific ocean oysters. We preferred the Pacific Ocean oysters as they were big, flavorful and salty! The bay oysters were sweet and delicate. The complimentary focaccia bread made for a really great start! My mother ordered the halibut fish and chips. She said the fish was moist and flaky! My father ordered the fresh halibut. He said the fish was delicate and moist, the asparagus that came with it was flavorful and crispy. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. Was not as cheesy or flavorful as I would have hoped, but the ambiance and my parents food made up for it. Their house Chardonnay was buttery and inexpensive. The servers there are very knowledgeable and can offer recommendations if asked! The walnut old fashion was not a traditional old fashion, had a liquorish finish. I've been going to Chinook's for years. Their brunch is incredible that comes with the most amazing complementary scones. I just went for happy hour and did not disappoint! I ordered the Dungeness crabcake off the main appetizer menu, and off the happy hour menu, I ordered the Caesar salad and bread. Everything was awesome. Rarely do you find a Caesar salad that has enough dressing on it and there's is homemade, so good. Crabcake was delicious and their homemade focaccia bread, yummy! My server Sara was so friendly. Met a friend here on vacation. It's one of her favorite places. I'd been to Hiliner on a previous visit and wanted to check this place out when I returned to Seattle so am happy to have visited. The place is huge and well lit. The bar is ginormous and the bartenders have a lot of house specialty drinks and specials. Our friend raved about the margaritas so my wife had them make a skinny version. She thought it was very good and I thought it was a bit tart. I had the Huckleberry Hard Lemonade. I didn't know what to expect, but it was delicious! They then brought their signature bread to the table. It was there version of focaccia and it was the perfect amount of savory. My wife ordered the salmon tacos and I and my friend ordered the cheeseburger. It's a smashburger, but one of the better ones I've had. The veggie toppings were fresh, the cheddar cheese didn't split, and the bun was fresh, pillowy and held up (on our Burger Club scale) I guess I'll give them a 4.25 (out of 5). If you're in the area, this is a great rest stop. Decent food, fair prices, tons of seating space, great ambiance overlooking the water, and more than enough parking. Service is outstanding. That covers all of the fundamentals. I actually find the menu a wee bit narrow and haven't found a dish they do that really, really, really stands out. A favorite of mine. Never had a bad meal there, and I've been going to this place for decades. Seriously. I've been to other Anthony's and they're nice but I like Chinook's the most. Their chowders and oyster stew are delicious. I'm originally from the NE and it's not easy to find good Manhattan style clam chowder but Chinook's does it right. But I also like their white chowder, as well as their cioppino. All their dinners are fabulous, though my favorite is the Blue Plate Special which is Ling Cod marinated in wine with a dill sour cream sauce. Their potatoes are great. Potatoes are such a simple dish yet not every place renders really well cooked ones. Their desserts and drinks are excellent. The views are gorgeous and the service is always impeccable. I took my parents here when they visited us in Seattle a few weeks ago. The view is beautiful at this restaurant. We went for lunch on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. Service was fast and wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was what you would expect from Anthony's, it came out quickly and overall pretty good. I would not say this food is exceptional or spectacular, but it was good. I ordered the garlic baked prawns. The menu also had several gluten free options which is always nice to see. On a recent trip to Seattle this past July, my family and I dined here for the first time for dinner. We had a lot of kids in our group so trying to find a kid-friendly restaurant while traveling was a bit of a challenge. But, I'm so happy I found Chinook's! They were able to accommodate our large party of 13 people and also had a kids menu. It was very busy on a Sunday night. The food was delicious and everything came out pretty fast as well. This is especially helpful when dining out with kids. The service was friendly too. Overall, everyone had enjoyed their meal and the beautiful view. So the service here is always top notch. The ambiance and views are always good. The food for itself is good, but the menu I dare say is really starting to get old. My father and I have been coming here for years and I am pretty sure I could read off to you everything on the menu as it just never changes.
