Love Betty! Delicious food, good service, friendly and neighborly. The chefs are delightful to watch if you sit at the counter!

Friendly, attentive, waitstaff and a warm, cozy ambience. The pasta dishes were large portions. As a side comment, it would have been a nice touch to provide a bit of bread to sop up the sauce. One could purchase it separately, but one or two pieces would have sufficed. I ordered their signature dish: the crow lasagne. I am picky about lasagne and appreciate all combinations. This one did not quite hit the mark. The marinara sauce was bright and flavorful, but barely lukewarm. It was hard to tell whether this was deliberate. The lasagne itself was good, but the consistency was odd. It was almost as if the noodles were made of gnocchi (potato) dough. The ricotta and sausage had a nice flavor. I had debated whether to order the chanterelle pasta. One of my dining partners did, and after seeing it, I was glad I did not. The pasta looked as if it was cooked properly with a variety of mushrooms;, but I did not see any chanterelles. I would have been disappointed. The salmon filet and grilled vegetables were presented nicely. The clams in miso broth were an unusual presentation; the stark white shells and plate contrasted sharply with the brown broth. The broth was tasty though. The desserts were also a mixed bag. The ganache on the German chocolate cake was rich and delicious. The pumpkin basque cheesecake did not have the consistency of a typical basque cake, but had a good flavor. The sweet cream mousse topping on both desserts was a perfect accompaniment. We went with a party of 8 to Betty, Great service, excellent food. The menu changes a bit [every six to nine years I visit!], but the steak frites and the Betty Burger are constants. We had the charcuterie board, a mixed greens salad and the baguette to start. The Charcuterie selection was diverse and our group went nuts over the marcona almonds in particular. The drinks were creative - my favorite is the mocktail named "I'm Fine With Water." CLEVER, Betty! We tried the lasagna, chicken, lamb shank (a highlight), the portobello stroganoff (a noodle dish mostly), and the Betty Burger. The dishes were well-seasoned, the lamb came with a flavorful cauliflower preparation and a yam puree. The portobello stroganoff looked amazing but I didn't get to taste it (insert sad emoji thing). I'll have to come back I guess. I want to try the striped bass too. Another plus: very nice-sized portions. Service by Josh was attentive, and he alerted us to the fact it was pre-tipped because of our party size. Only vexation was the 3% credit card fee, but I guess everyone does it now. I had a salad at Betty that still to this day I cannot stop thinking of (or recreate). It was on a seasonal menu, and frankly I can't recall what it was called but there was a lot of tomato and cheese and a light delicious dressing that they only thing that comes close to what I think of when I think of this, is a warm goat cheese salad I had in Paris. In the end this won my heart. My wife had steak and frites because a little bird ;) told us that they have the best fries so we had to see for ourselves. In the end a solid spot and would be my go-to daily if I still lived on QA. read more

Delightful place. Nice décor and ambience, simple, with large windows to the street. And staff who obviously love what they do. Delicious pumpkin soup with Worcestershire and balsamic. Kale Caesar was flavorful with anchovy oil and flaked Parmesan. The boar ragu was rich, tender, hearty, and came with a perfect polenta. Really enjoyed our night out here. read more

One of our favorites -- it's really hard to go wrong on anything in the menu. Our last meal here we started with the oysters, which were incredibly fresh. If you love oysters, this is a must-try. My daughter and I got the roasted chicken, which was cooked perfectly with a crispy skin. The potatoes in the pan jus are heavenly. My son got the steak and fries. He is very particular about his steak and proclaimed it was one of the best he had ever had. My wife got the crow's lasagna which she reported was excellent. My son and I both got the Rocky Road Mousse Cake. I am not normally a dessert person, but this was fantastic! Our server, Henry, was attentive, fast and funny. This place is a gem! It was my first time there after many years of driving past it. I loved that fact they have a limited menu. One protein of each dish and a vegetarian/gluten option. Wow!!!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Everything about the place was perfect! Food 10/10! The chicken is really worth the 35 min wait. Ribs were delicious and not fatty, the burger was great (their version of medium was more medium rare to me, but it didn't bother my son) and the panzanella salad was great, and dressed the right amount. My wife and I have always loved Betty. The food is spectacular every time, the cocktails are perfection, and the service is ALWAYS top tier. After our small and intimate wedding ceremony, we had our dinner on the back patio. They were a BREEZE to work with in planning this. They made the process simple and stress free, helping us make a reservation in no time. The day of, we brought in a few decorations and they helped us set up, which was so kind. We had a table of 13 people, and our server and host (their names are escaping me at the moment, forgive me) were incredible! Sooooo kind, helpful, and truly made the job look so much easier than it is. Every single one of our guests were blown away with their meals and kept remarking on how wonderful of a time they had at Betty. Our host even added some of our flowers to the side of the cake, which was such a sweet, thoughtful, and lovely touch. My wife and I cannot stop talking about the experience. Was pressed to find a last minute reservation on a Saturday night for the family, and found the Betty had a table available at a time that would work for us. The hostess and servers were extremely friendly and personable, however once seated service was a bit slow. It was an event night, and the restaurant had filled quite quickly within the time we were seated - so slow service somewhat to be expected. We have one picky way eater in our group, so ordered a kids' noodles with sauce, (which I was grateful for and kid said was delicious) however it came out so far before all of the rest of our food that he was done by the time the rest of our food came. Presentation of the food was nice, basic, but all very fresh looking. We ordered two of the burgers and fries, a tomato/bread salad, and the elote w/ fried shishito peppers. All were fine, but underwhelming. Burgers were under seasoned and slightly undercooked (ordered medium and came rare) and fries were overcooked and slightly burned. Half of the tomatoes in the salad were a bit mealy, and salad was also under seasoned/dressed. The elote was my favorite and was absolutely delicious, but the shishitos were overcooked and under seasoned as well. None of it was inedible, and not worth sending back at that point. Maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed and thus the poor execution of some things - hard to say. As I said, not a bad meal per se, but each dish just missed the mark, and servers and staff really were lovely, so maybe we just caught them on an off night. read more

Had a decent cocktail, steak frites and wine, but was surprised by a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. How else are you meant to pay? Credit card fees are a basic cost of business and should be included in the (already high) prices. I don't recall any other restaurants with such a fee. Disappointed. I was in town in a business trip and was looking for a cozy and delicious place to enjoy dinner at the bar. I couldn't be happier that I came across Betty. Everything from the servers to the chefs cooking behind the bar were excellent. I had a butternut squash and pear soup that was tasty and perfect for a cold evening in Seattle. I had the roasted chicken, which is one of their signature items and I was not disappointed. I finished my most wonderful meal with a bouche de Noel that knocked my socks off. Betty is a modern American restaurant with an Italian flavour at the top of Queen Anne near the television masts. There is street parking nearby. There is often a parking shortage at the top of Queen Anne, but there is plenty of street parking a short walk away behind the main street. The space is open and well-decorated if a bit dark. The environment is very comfortable and we have enjoyed going several times - although we did make a visit a couple of years ago when something wasn't working right and the whole space was very hot. The menu is diverse but a little limited. Food quality is good. There are only a couple of entrees that I'm excited by. They seem to be related to the former restaurant Crow (sadly now closed) and serve "crow's lasagne" which is still sadly too tall and thick even though it has the bechamel sauce as one hopes for in proper lasagne. I had the steak frites which was great. Prices are decent but not cheap. Service was very friendly and prompt as always. Recommended as a great place to eat on Queen Anne. read more

Cozy little restaurant in Queen Anne. Unfortunately the food was only so-so but the portions are pretty good for the price. The delicata and burrata was okay. The burrata was not as soft as I am used to and there was a crazy amount of the cranberry jam. Just too much. The bouillaibasse was decent. A little too salty for my taste and a pretty thick tomato broth. The lasagna was good and damn quite a large portion! I'm rarely in Queen Anne so I doubt I'd be back anytime soon but honestly not sure I'd seek this place out based on my experience. read more

The lasagna here is truly amazing. And this was take out! Each bite is just delicious and the layers with ingredient ratio is perfection. Pastas and pizza sometimes contain way too much salt but this is done right. Will recommend and be back again and again. read more

Such a cute, cozy neighborhood spot! We had an 8pm reservation for 2 on a Monday but we probably would've been fine just walking in, as the restaurant was probably less than 20% full at this hour. We were promptly greeted and seated-- stellar service started immediately. Our main waiter, Ardent, was super friendly and one of the highlights of the meal. He was knowledgeable about the menu and even gave us a little bit of the history of some dishes, noting that some of their menu items rotate seasonally. We ended up starting with the sauteed prawns & pancetta-- it was a solid portion size for 2 and was flavorful and delicious. While the chili flavor was nice, I didn't find it spicy at all. Then for our entree, we shared the ribeye steak & hand-cut frites and this was definitely the star! The steak was well seasoned and cooked to perfection and again, large portion. We ended up having a tiny bit to take home. Even though it was past closing time, we never felt rushed and were still offered the dessert menu so we tried the raspberry trio. Perfect for appeasing multiple palettes-- my favorite was the raspberry pinot noir sorbet and my husband's pick was the raspberry swirl chevre cheesecake. He's not even a big dessert guy and he ate pretty much the whole piece of cheesecake on his own, so that's a pretty big deal. Shoutout to Ardent and the entire 5-star crew over at Betty. We came here for a double birthday celebration and made a reservation online. I was surprised nobody acknowledged it being our birthdays the whole time we were there. We ordered a bunch of food to share and both had the same reaction to our entrees - they were fine, just not memorable in flavor. I found the parsley and swiss chard to really not pair well with the sweet sauce of the mushrooms over the crispy polenta. It was beautifully presented but just wasn't my cup of tea. I am not one that leaves greens behind on a plate but I separated out all of the greens in this one and couldn't stomach them. The soup was the winner by far - very savory and beautifully presented! The salad was good as were the wines we tasted. The mixed drink I ordered was very strong and very tasty. Will return to try other menu items in the future! read more

What I like most about Betty is that the average age of the average patron is over forty and people will actually have a conversation with you at the bar. I know, talking is a thing. Wow- my husband and I ate in silence because we were in our happy places. It was soooo good. The menu is small to maintain excellent attention to detail. I write this review with mixed emotions. Having lived in Queen Anne for six years, loyally patronizing its restaurants has been important to us. Along the way, among our circle of friends, we have a few who LOVE Betty. They rave about the food and have nothing but good things to say about the wait staff. These good folks dine there once a week, typically on the weekends. We have really wanted to, at the very least, like this restaurant! But recently, after our 6th visit, we've simply failed to understand the unconditional love. The wait staff: perhaps we've expected too much based on our friends lavishing about how great they are. Perhaps they're lucky enough to get the owners/management to wait on them who will naturally provide top-notch service. We have witnessed that asking after their children is always a sure-fire way to get an otherwise over-tired server to treat you right. But we don't know them as well as our friends do and frankly, don't think we should have to chat them up about their kiddos to get friendly, attentive service. On our own, their attitude seems to be laissez-faire--sort of "it's after 8 pm, we're tired and because we've been so busy thus far due to our ongoing popularity, we don't see the need to act perky or that we really even care." Psst: Their open kitchen layout doesn't allow them much privacy to say, snicker about the guy at the end of the bar because he mis-pronounced the wine he ordered for his wife. We'd like to call out a certain server by name, but doubt our review will be posted if we do so: His name starts with an R, he's typically behind the bar and our friends--and even other staff--have conceded that yes, "he has a silver tongue". But the sketchy service he managed to provide and snotty interaction with us was simply appalling, it was all we could do not to whip out our phones and record him. Now for the most important: The food. No, it's not horrible, but it's not what it's not nearly what it's hyped to be either. From the regular menu: Lasagna: A friend kindly gave me what she'd taken to-go and I was so excited to take it home and eat it. It was edible, but rather salty and lacked the imagination they describe in the description on the menu. I'm no great cook, but I could do better. Steak & frites: The frites are the best thing about it. The steak is purportedly a 16 oz choice grade ribeye. We found it to be a blob of fatty meat. Even more so when you take it home with you to reheat it. Pan-seared black cod: Ours had a shiny and dry surface. Cod is ordinarily on the bland side, but this was fishy. read more

Decent happy hour spot in Upper Queen Anne so parking is easy. The happy hour runs between 430-545 pm and has a decent variety of foods, such as tacos, salmon, fries, salad, muscles, oysters on a half shell, and beer/ wine/ Manhattan. The happy hour was about $9 for food and $5 for a beer. So not too crazy in prices. The food is decent, nothing crazy special about the food. Service was nice and the area has dim lighting, good atmosphere. I'd def go back here again for happy hour, dinner is a bit pricey for what the food is.
