Closer to 4.5 stars but there are a few things I would love for this place to improve since the restaurant otherwise is a bit of a hidden gem! This restaurant prides themselves on North Mediterranean - featuring Spanish, Italian, Greek, Turkish, etc food, and I can definitely see the flavors going for most of the dishes here. I made a reservation for a solo dining - originally for standard seating but since it was not busy, I opted to be seated at the bar where I had a bit more space (which is more favorable for the restaurant as standard seating is more in demand). The dining room is great for groups of 2 or more and more intimate, while the bar is better for solo dining. The bar has a lot of great bottles and good ambience. I got the Brussels sprouts and calamari for the starter, and crab cakes for the entree. Because that is already a lot of food, I eyed on the "enhancements" side of the menu which has a single crab cake for $15 and a small salad for $6 (precisely the Turkish shepherd's salad, which the appetizer portion would have been $17) , so $21 for 1 crab cake + salad instead of paying $34 for 2 crab cakes + salad. The regular entree you save $2 but I already got a lot of food and did not want too much leftovers while still enjoying the majority of dishes I wanted. I also got the bubbles, rose, and white wine flight which has 4x 2oz wines for $22 which is a decent price. Brussels sprouts was okay. They were not cooked uniformly - some are more raw, some are a bit mushy and overcooked. But I really loved the seasoning and preparation, so I wished they executed a bit better in ensuring consistency within the vegetables. Calamari is definitely a must-try, and a recommendation from the server. It has a bit of sweetness from the fish sauce caramel that just works really well. Crab cake is good, a bit heavy, so it was a good call to just get the a la carte 1 piece. I don't really see the point of having salt flakes on top of the crab cake because the crab cake itself is already flavorful and salty enough. The salt does not add much to the presentation yet makes the dish a bit too salty for my liking. I did enjoy the tomato butter served. The salad (Turkish shepherd's salad) is pretty good and cuts down the fattiness of the crab cake. For being a small portion, it is honestly quite a respectable amount. I got really full just enjoying this salad so I packed half the order of Brussels sprouts to-go. I love the wines - they pair really well with the dishes and bonus points they come from all over the world, particularly the North Mediterranean area. Service is good but could be better - my water cup is sitting empty for a good fraction of my meal and I had to nudge the server twice to fill my water cup across 2 different occasions. Restaurant closes at 10 we showed up at 8:50 and they said they already closed down the kitchen after the hostess said we had 10 minutes to order. Cool. Not coming back. My biggest complaint is the hostess telling us that we can order something and us getting ready to be seated and then another person coming over and telling us that the kitchen is closed. Seems like thev employees were not on the same page and didn't know what was going on This used to be one of favorite places to go but this experience has put a bag taste in our mouths. read more

Stopped into A/Stir before a show. We were excited to try this spot because our friend is GF and we're always looking for a new place to go that is safe for them. We were sat quickly, but it was another 10 minutes before anyone actually acknowledged us at the table despite other tables (sat after us) having their orders taken. Staff was friendly if not a little absent minded. The person taking our orders talked over us a bit, and there were some issues at the end with the check that took a bit to straighten out. I ordered the smash burger, and it was okay, nothing to write home about, it could have used a bit more salt as I found it bland. The cheese curds were amazing. Decided to try A Stir before a show recently. I'm guessing they where short staffed that night. It took a while before anyone came over to our table. When we did the waiting was friendly enough. A little pushy on extra stuff, especially when we indicated we had short time and needed to be quick. One of our table ordered the Cheese Curds and these where really good. Nice flavor and texture. I got the Deconstructed Dolma with the Fried Chicken Thigh add on. I'm so happy I got the chicken it was the best part of the dish. The bread was dense and did not have a lot of flavor. I would hardly call the rest any form of Dolma. It had no acid flavor at all. The big miss was the herbs. I couldn't taste any dill or mint. It was basically a bowl of ground lamb with slices of grape leaves. The evening ended just as poorly as it began. Our server tried to push dessert on us even though he knew we had to go. For $80, we got the worst food poisoning ever . First my partner was nauseous and threw up but I was feeling fine so we thought it was just the greasy cheese curds (since it couldn't have been the gluten). But not too long after, I got unbearable stomach pains and I also threw up amongst other things. The burger was quite plain and dry but the fries were decent until I got to the bottom pieces that were all stuck together and soggy. The fish and chips were pretty surprising. The seasoning worked well with the fish, and we were happy with the tartar sauce. We went here last night to celebrate a graduation- staff was so nice and accommodating, perfect place for someone with celiac, and the food was incredible! The braised short ribs were perfectly salty and went so well with the mashed potatoes. The cheese curds were perfection, and the strawberry mousse was delicious! As a gluten free girlie, I thought this place would change my life forever. I did like it a lot, but I remain unchanged. It has a very trendy, industrial, inviting feel, which I loved. I went for dinner and the mood lighting was both inviting and serene. The staff was all really kind and helpful and we felt like we enjoyed everyone we interacted with. I started with a root veggie salad that was amazing. Really good sauces and texture. My friends got a side salad and it looked SO plain to me, like something from a school cafeteria. I did the tasting menu, which I thought was so fun. My next dish was the eggplant, which was also lovely. Where they lost me was the risotto. It felt very simple, like something I could EASILY make at home. I also don't feel like risotto is a super special dish for a gluten free place to feature since it's inherently gluten free everywhere. The lemon dessert we got really put the breaks on. I didn't know what I was ordering, just that I didn't want the pumpkin pie on the tasting menu and chose something lemon. It was horrible. It was rock hard, turned into dust when we cut into it, and was super bitter. We felt like they were pulling a prank on us. Maybe that is just on me for ordering something I wasn't familiar with. I went on a Wednesday for the jazz night which had a great turn out, all the tables were filled and people were dancing in front of the stage. My friends and I got dirty martinis which were pretty strong in our opinion, and I ended up getting the last olives which tasted really old so that was disappointing. The apps last night were peak - cheese curds with apple butter and house marinara and mushroom risotto arancini. The entrees (lobster Mac and crispy chicken) were decent. My lobster Mac and cheese was maybe a little dry and felt less creamy and cheesey than I expected. Stellar service and spectacular food. There is a well lit upstairs and a cozy dark and moody downstairs. We tried the sampler for $35 and the portions were satisfying and generous. Music was RAD, everything played is in my collection!! Walked over from our hotel, parking is challenging in the area. Came on a weekday evening. It is probably the only place I know in Seattle where the full menu is gluten free. Kind of worked really well for my friend who is gluten allergic. I personally loved the enhanced mediterranean style food. The presentation of pillaf was something that really stood out. The rice stuffed in squash is pretty appealing. The egg plant recipe with yoghurt reminded me of Baba Ganoush. It was probably was that lol. The baguette - the gluten free one with some olive oil and sea salt can be a good mix to fill you up. Atmosphere is great, host is welcoming. One thing though is the portion size is not that great. But they cover that with their food presentation. read more

The service was excellent, and the restaurant was comfy. This meal is expensive, but it would be a lovely spot for a date night/celebration. One of the things I really appreciate about this place is that it is completely gluten free. I have a good friend who has celiacs, and does not get to enjoy certain foods most of the time; so, I really appreciate that they could eat things like the cheese curds. I tried the Fish and chips, cookies, calamari, and cheese curds. As a Wisconsinite I can say the cheese curds were solid. They were not mind blowing, but they were decent cheese curds (meaning delicious). The apple butter that came with the curds was delicious. The marinara wasn't that good though. To summarize the rest: Fish and Chips: Really tasty (especially the tartar sauce) The cookie: good Calimari: Probably the best thing I ate here. I've been wanting to try A Stir after passing by a couple times and seeing their menu. My friend and I stopped by for dinner on a weekday and we were prompty seen to a table. We ordered three items at first (1 app and 2 entrees), but we were still hungry after so we ordered another appetizer afterwards. Random note, but I think it's great that their entire menu is gluten free. - Roasted Crispy Brussel Sprouts: 3.5/5, while delicious, they were not crispy at all! The sauce made the brussel sprouts super soggy. I did like the shallot jam though. I'd recommend this but don't expect them to be crispy. - Dungeness Crab Cakes: 1/5, super salty :( I honestly liked the salad on the side more than the crab cakes. Both of us were disappointed by how salty this was. - Red Wine Braised Short Ribs: 4/5, I enjoyed this dish. Some parts of the rib were dry but other parts were really juicy. The mashed potatoes were great. I think the portion size is a bit small for $30 though. - Fried Cheese Curds: 3/5. I thought the cheese curds were good and the apple butter was great. I just don't think these two items go well together so I was feeling mixed about the dish. In addition, the marinara was super chunky (felt more like a salsa) so it didn't go well with the cheese curds either. The initial wait was a little long, we were starting to wonder where our food was when it appeared! I enjoyed most of our food but those crab cakes were pretty disappointing, especially as an entree. Came back again tonight with my family and so thrilled to have Harper again and meet owner Ton for the first time. Cheese curds and apple butter were delicious as I remembered and not an overhyped memory. I got all Gollum-like about the apple butter when anyone suggested clearing it away and Harper delightfully surprised me by bringing some to take with me!! Thank you, Harper, for again making such a lovely evening even lovelier. Beef short rib was amazing for 3 of us despite looking like a small portion. My aunt found it a bit too salty and joked that I'm so in love with the place that I overlook it, especially when we had McDonalds fries today and I specifically ask for no salt. Kids enjoyed their burger (little guy) and BLT FC (bigger guy), half of the BLT FC went to my uncle, so if diners are looking for a very satisfying portion then go for that. Went here with some coworkers to welcome a new employee on our team. The new employee was celiac sensitive and this place is 100% gluten free which was cool. I went with the classic burger and my team members got the lobster Mac and cheese + crab cakes. They mentioned each dish was good. My burger was also quite tasty. Ambiance is a mix of modern and traditional victorian setting. Service was pretty good - I drank a lot of water and they were on top of refilling the bottles at the table. A Stir formally known as Capitol Hill Cider had promise but with this recent experience, it's left me perturbed. I sat at the bar for dinner with seating for 7-8 and it took nearly 8 minutes to be acknowledged while only 3 others guests were seated. I ordered the Red Wine Short Rib and although the flavor was GREAT, the rib was over cooked and tough to cut through leaving me pretty disappointed. Astir has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Seattle. Every time I walk in, the staff makes me feel genuinely welcomed. Jason is always warm and attentive, and although I feel bad that I can't remember the bartender's name, he deserves all the praise his energy is beautiful, grounding, and inviting. He's honestly one of the reasons I kept coming back... to the point where I had to put myself on a self‑imposed spending restriction. The food here is incredible. The short rib is truly to die for, and the meal enhancements are delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My personal goal is to eventually try everything on the menu because I'm genuinely in love with what they're doing here, the flavors, the creativity, the consistency. However, I wish they would increase the speed of the service a bit more. The interior is dark. I had to take menu close to the light to read. Seen a few flashlights at other tables. I was lucky enough to check out A Stir (formerly Capitol Hill Cider!) and I loved the revamp they have done with the space! I checked out A Stir the dining room but did move downstairs to their new vibey spot! It was dead since it was still early but I would love to come back when there is live music! I love all the couches down there. We had such wonderful service by Amanda. She gave great suggestions for my indecisive self and had great explanations for every dish or drink we were thinking about. Really helped ease mind and I loved her upbeat personality and attitude! I love a wine/cider flight because I like to try a few different things! Both were unique and delish The roasted eggplant and yogurt was such a unique dish! I love the crunch of the beef. Gluten free dedicated kitchen so we had to try this out. Chef/co-owner came out and was talking to diners and helping out as well. We got the $35 3 course meal along with other dishes so you can mix in some good value options with more people if sharing. The squid with orzo, the lobster Mac n cheese and eggplant lasagna was all very good and the kiddo loved the spaghetti so that just made the experience so much better. This is probably my favorite restaurant of all time. I've been here twice when visiting a friend in Seattle and can guarantee we'll be back every time I'm in town. The food here is AMAZING! Between the two groups we've been with we've tried almost everything on the menu by now, and there is not a single thing we've disliked. The highlights though are definitely the crab cakes, short ribs, and the Brussels sprouts. We also tried the lemongrass sea bass special and it was to die for! Their desserts are amazing too, I love the apricot orange cake. It's wild to think this entire restaurant is gluten free, I'd never know it. All of the food comes out really quickly as well (less than 5 minutes in some cases), I honestly don't know how they do it. What a cute place! I went here with 2 of my friends, all in our 30s. The service was great! Most of us really liked our food. The Brussel sprouts as an appetizer were sooo tasty, perfectly seasoned. The tomat soup was really good, but trust them when they tell you the grilled cheese is mini. With the cheese curds though, it was perfect. The steak was fantastic! The meatballs dish was just okay. There were only 2 meatballs, and it wasn't the most flavorful dish. All in all, will return. There are so many things to choose from on the menu, so I feel like we haven't even scratched the surface. read more

Our reservations were around 6pm, but we got there a bit early and were seated immediately, we had a cocktail before dinner, they made a great old fashioned. I've been to A Stir twice, once under it's old moniker Capitol Hill Cider and once under the new name. One of my friends has celiac and this one of the only places she can eat at. That being said, I would still come to A Stir anyway. It's a great Capitol Hill institution; there are a variety of choices on the menu, the food has always been fresh, and the service is friendly. So amazing and delicious!!! I got the eggplant dip, the farmers salad and the spaghetti with a piece of the fried chicken thigh. The pita and the eggplant were truly the best bites. I loved it all so much. It's all completely gluten free. I also got a gf IPA which is such an amazing option. Finally the chef owner was welcoming us and checked in many times.
