As someone who lived in Boston for the last 8 years prior to moving to Seattle, I was pretty excited to try this place as there aren't too many places around here to get a good lobster roll. My husband and I both got lobster rolls (Connecticut style with butter) as well as some oysters. My husband got a double lobster roll which was actually a bit too much for him and I got a single with clam chowder. FOOD: - Lobster rolls: Very buttery and overall quite good. I would say that they are comparable to some lobster rolls that I've had in Boston. (Although definitely would not say that it's the best. That would be Neptune Oyster.) The price is also decent, $19 for a healthy amount of lobster. - Clam chowder: This was fine, but not great. A bit on the thinner side for clam chowder. - Oysters: Good, but I overall prefer the saltier oysters that you typically get in New England. OTHER: - Parking: I believe this building has a parking garage but we did street parking which wasn't too hard to find. - I was pretty hyped to see pictures of Cape Cod brand chips with the lobster rolls but when our meals arrived the chips were Tim's. Wanted a lobster roll and it was everything I could have hoped for. I opted for the New England style. The bread was slightly crispy, toasted but didn't leave debris with every bite, not too oily or greasy, huge chunks of lobster that you could actually taste aka wasn't too heavy on the mayo and the celery added a nice flavor change. My only qualm was that the lobster was slightly chewy which leads me to believe it was over cooked. The slaw was also pretty good, not drowning in mayo. My partner got the lobb salad and said it was really good, I didn't particularly like the vinaigrette, little too tart for me. Bar Harbor is generous with the amount of lobster hence the pricey price tag. I've been wanting to try this place out and came here with my boyfriend during happy hour one day. They have some good happy hour deals such as half off oysters and $7 well drinks. For drinks, I had a beer, which was $1 off and my boyfriend ordered a whiskey ginger, which came with Four Roses bourbon. For food, we ordered a dozen oysters because you can't beat half off oysters, I believe that made it $1.50 per oyster. I ordered their lobster roll which is $16 on happy hour, Connecticut style with butter and it was SO good. My boyfriend ordered their shrimp po' boy with clam chowder. I enjoyed his sandwich and the clam chowder a lot too. Overall, I would recommend coming here and know I'll be back. I had this place bookmarked before I was taking a trip to Seattle. Plenty of parking on the street, which can get busy. Atmosphere looks great, very open casual concept. There is a bar where you are able to sit or sit in the common area that is like picnic bench sitting. I was not a fan of the clam chowder soup. It was very watery which wasn't appetizing. I love a good deviled egg and topped with a bit of dungeness crab makes it even better. Dungeness crab salad was a light healthy bowl of greens. Portion size was kind of small, but more importantly - the lobster didn't seem very fresh, and neither did the roll, haha. Disappointing! I won't be back, and wouldn't recommend it. I was trying to find a place in Seattle that specialized in Lobster Rolls, and stumbled upon Bar Harbor on Yelp. We came in pretty close to opening, probably just 15 minutes after, and there were already a couple of people inside the place. The restaurant is a nice, open space in a building with other vendors and restaurants inside. The building is really cool, and a ton of people was utilizing the space to get work done, grab a quick lunch with colleagues, or go upstairs to the offices above. I ordered the Lobster Roll (New England style) and a side of chowder. The total of that was $23, which I thought was actually an okay price for the sandwich and soup. When it came out, it was a tad smaller than I thought it was going to be, but the lobster was literally falling out of the sandwich. they didn't skimp on the lobster or try to add anything else to the sandwich, which I really appreciated. The sandwich bread was nicely toasted and buttered, and the lobster tasted SO fresh and delicious with the mayo and celery pieces. The chowder was packed with veggies and clams, and it wasn't so thick that you felt gross afterwards. It was buttery, but light, and packed with flavor. My fiance's family is from the New England area so we're always on the look out for a good lobster roll. I've had Bar Harbor bookmarked for a while and finally decided to come this Memorial Day weekend! My fiance and I took an uber here, thinking there wouldn't be too much parking. We also got the lobster mac and cheese to share. The lobster roll really hit the spot. I liked the roll, it was well toasted. There was a good amount of lobster in it. The celery and chives were a good addition in my opinion. The clam chowder was a little disappointing. It was very tasty and flavorful but really thin for a clam chowder. Our mac and cheese didn't come out till a little later (till we were about done with our rolls) but it was worth the wait. Again, had a good amount of lobster on it, the mac and cheese was made well. I loved the side salad that came along with it, it had a great vinaigrette dressing on it. Our waiter (who was also the bartender I believe) was awesome. He gave us the bathroom codes when he first came up to our table. He checked up on us periodically and was quick. The prices seem fair to me. Catching up on Yelp reviews. This is for a visit to Bar Harbor in the SLU/Amazonia neighborhood back on 8/20/18. I wasn't feeling great that day and unable to attend a work function due to time sensitive projects to accomplish. Which pretty much put me in hangry mode. Parking availability pretty much dictated where I was having a very late lunch, more like dunch/linner. Wandered in and was greeted by the person tending bar. I was seated at a two top facing the bar. Interesting interior in a shared building with other businesses. Despite that one should have lobster like Maine natives, I ordered the regional and sweeter Dungeness crab roll with Tim's chips (also local), and cole slaw. Tasty and enjoyed the extra touch of the toasted bun. Glad to try it out, however, I'd rather get my own crab and crack it at home. Plus counting street parking and the cost of this meal...still annoyed me since the rest of my department had a free lunch prior to the team building event. But the Bar Harbor wait staff and food quality put me at ease and I was in the city on an urban jaunt. Seattle or putt putt in Kirkland? Bar harbor is operating differently due to the pandemic. They are no longer in the original restaurant. They are occupying the outdoor deck space at the corner of Fairview Ave N. And Harrison. It's a walk-up service window. The service is fast and friendly, but you will be turned away if you are not wearing a mask! The food is still just as amazing as always! You must try the lobster roll loaded (butter, celery, mayo and chives). It comes with a side option of green salad or kettle cooked potato chips. The chowder is traditional style, with huge chunks of potato throughout. I enjoy it, but it's not the best I've had. I tried the poke' salad (recommended from a friend) and I am obsessed, I've never been a huge fan of poke' but this salad is officially on my favorites list along with the lobster roll. I had the Lobster Mac n Cheese with Salad today and it was, perhaps, the worst Mac n Cheese I've ever had. The top of the bowl was dry with the mac pasta crispy. I ordered the warm butter lobster but was a little disappointed to see that I ended up receiving the mayo, celery, and chives lobster. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the lobster as much as I thought I would. The lobster came out cold and a little bit too chewy for me. The celery also didn't really work for me, overpowering the delicate flavor of the lobster. However I will say, the bread was spot on. A M A Z I N G!!! We finally made it in and it's SO good!!! This lobster roll is everything!! The bread oh the bread!!! The lobster is fresh and the dressing on the salad perfect! I did make a solid choice by getting their Burrata ($15) and man was it delicious! the flavor was phenom and it came with some buttery bread that just made the whole experience lovely. The drink menu is awesome. I wish I could remember what I got but it was a drink that had raspberry, ginger beer, rum, something else. It was amazing! $10 well spent and I would have ordered another if weren't cutting it close on time. The service was excellent!
