Great bites! It's a super fun spot, and must do in Seattle. It felt like Cane's or Chikfila with the speed and efficiency of taking orders. I'd love to go again already! The salmon chowder was the star of the show for me-it was smoky with tons of flavor and freshness. It was silly to feed the seagulls as well. They were ready for a bite! I do wonder if it's good for them... though it is quite a fun draw in to this spot. The fried salmon is VERY dry. Not my favorite. It tastes decent dipped in the chowder, otherwise be sure to grab the classic fish and chips. That's the first time I've seen and tried fried salmon!

Prime location with hard working staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating they allow you to feed the seagulls which is popular with the kids and tourists. Food was good however we felt they gave us a lot of fries and not much of the fish and oysters. Also soooo sad when did they get rid of the glass malt vinegar bottles?! Why the packets?! So environmentally unfriendly and difficult and for those who like a lot of vinegar and sitting there tearing each packet open is time consuming when hungry. Overall was a nice quick lunch heading towards the Seattle Great Wheel being tourists for the day but we wouldn't return.

The bread bowl and clam chowder is so delicious. The salmon chowder wasn't very salmon-y, but I still enjoyed it! It's fun to watch people feed the seagulls, makes for great entertainment. This place is perfect if your looking for casual.

Scallos and Fries

Wow, loved the Scallops! Very well breaded it took nothing away from the flavor of the scallop. Came with fries that were delicious crispy and salty. Ivar's tartar sauce was a great addition and they had tabasco and malt vinegar. They were very busy and still so happy to take your order. Got my food faster then I expected with the crowd around. Alot of seatting right next door with views of the ocean. An amazing experence and views!

Halibut and chips takeout

Ordered a cup of clam chowder and the halibut and chips. Ordered it for takeout and had it delivered by Uber eats. The food was nice and hot when it arrived. The clam chowder was just average. I've had clam chowder in New England so I have high standards and this was nothing special. However for Halibut and chips is a different story. The halibut is amazing. They didn't send any ketchup or vinegar just tartar sauce, which I don't eat so I was a little bit worried but you don't need any of that because the halibut stands on its own it's one of the most delicious pieces of fish I have ever eaten and the fries are solid.

Yummy Clam Chowder

It was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day so we opted for a table outside. The waiter gave us enough time to look over the menu, but I already knew I wanted to try the clam chowder! It came out piping hot , slightly sweet, smokey with a hint of bacon. The grilled artichoke was standard. When I'm back in town I'd love to try other dishes.

Ice cream sundae

We stopped by for a quick bite before heading to the airport. We ordered the three piece true cod and a cup of their New England clam chowder. For a quick bite we really enjoyed our lunch. The fish was very good and so was the chowder. My only complaint is that I wish the soup was hotter. They have cups/bowls already dished out and ready to be served so it is not very hot. I understand why they do this since I this is a quick service place but I like my soup extra hot. On the positive side the lines do move very quickly. My husband went to throw away our trash and came back with their ice cream sundae. A pretty big portion for only $5. A yummy ending to our meal. Overall we enjoyed our lunch here.

Fish 'N Chips and Jumbo Prawns 'N Chips

Excuse the picture, it's one of the few times I remembered to snap one mid meal, it'll serve as proof of visit. Ivar's is one of the staples of Seattle for good reason! One of my favorite fish and chips for consistency, convenience, and availability around town. Better fish and chips may exist, but none are as accessible as Ivar's with many locations. What's interesting here is that they have a line for ordering and then a line to pay, but it's clearly labelled. Cod is juicy, fried lightly, and heavenly when paired with their delicious tartar sauce. Chips are soft with a light crunch and also heavenly when paired with the tartar. They have a covered shelter to dine inside but the entire waterfront is nifty to eat around. Restroom (washroom, bathroom search terms) available next door in Ivar's Acre of Clams. Pro tip that the kid cones are delicious and plentiful, so save room for dessert.

Ivar's through the years

The food is excellent here and tastes fresh. The look of Ivar's has this cool mix of old school with modern. The service was really good but we had two waiters and that seemed like one too many. It was a bit awkward. The prices seemed pretty high. But hey, we were from out of town so perhaps that's standard for the area. But I do recommend this place. The view next to the water is fantastic!

Our family in Seattle took us to Ivars and told us it was the best clam chowder in Seattle...they didn't disappoint! Ordered a clam chowder and some fish fillets. Clam chowder was meaty with a lot of clam and seasoned well. The fish fillets were really good also! Had a bit of a chewiness that was nice compared to mushy fish fillets I've had in the past! It was pretty empty around the time we went, but nevertheless still had a good time!

When visiting Seattle, we had to get our taste of seafood. Ivar's has been here originally since 1948 and serving their famous fish and chips. We arrived at 11:30 am on a weekday and right before the lunch rush. We sat on a large table next to the window with gorgeous views of the waterfront. Our server Kay was the best! She was so cheerful and accommodating making our meal a nice treat. The fish and chips was crispy and good sized. The seafood linguine had a lot of seafood but little too soupy. It was more like linguine seafood soup.

We stopped in for Ivar's at the waterfront for a quick lunch and were greeted by a long line, but it moved surprisingly fast. The staff did a great job keeping things efficient by calling out to customers in the line to start on each order, and by the time we got up to the cashier, our food was ready within minutes. Talk about efficiency! There's plenty of seating options-outside along the water or under a covered area. We were going to sit outside, but after we sat down, a family came out to feed the birds. The seagulls swooped in, so we moved indoors. While inside was a little less hectic, there were plenty of pigeons hoping for crumbs. Oh well! We still enjoyed our freshly fried halibut and chips. The fish was perfectly golden brown and not overcooked. We love dipping each bite in tartar sauce, and the cashier gladly gave us extra dip. Napkins, malt vinegar, straws, and utensils are conveniently located just left of the cashier for easy access. Looking forward to next time.

We stopped in here for a great midday meal in October while visiting and enjoyed the views of the interior of the restaurant with much to see and also views to the outside through large windows to see water, mountains, boats, etc. The waitstaff were top notch and very attentive and helpful with answering questions. Food orders were taken and fulfilled by kitchen very quickly, piping hot and delicious. I ordered from the Ivar's Classics lunch menu and chose the fried northwest combo of Alaska true cod, surf clam strips, shrimp. and substituted Brussels sprouts for the fries. No complaints, very satisfied! Highly recommended as a top destination if visiting Seattle and appreciate tried-and-true options.

We wanted to try their fish and chips but they happen to serve Seafood gumbo on some days. I am a sucker for gumbo but most of the places outside of NOLA had let me down big time. So I hesitated. I decided to asked for a spoon of gumbo to sample before I order a cup. The young man at the counter started scooping a cup, yes, a real cup so I figured he heard me wrong. When I asked how much, he replied, free for you. Really?! Awesome!!! Now my husband and son's turn, ok, they ordered like there's no tomorrow and below is how I ranked them. Seafood Gumbo - OMG, other than a little saltier for my taste, it is on point. As good as it can get. Highly recommended. Clam chowder- not bad but gumbo was way better. Fried chicken- was alright. Crab puppies - yummy Fried calamari- tough and chewy Fishes - soggy way too dried Salmon - very light battered which were great but fish were dried. Way over fried. Shrimps - over fried and dried Clam strips - too dried Chips - all were soggy even though we asked for extra crispy. Slaw - crisp and tasty. I rather eat this than the soggy fries/chips. I would definitely return for the seafood gumbo and crab puppies.

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

The wait is worth it though since this place has some of the best seafood in Seattle! Despite the seafood focused menu, my favorite thing is one of the non-seafood items, the smash burger. The patty is fatty and juicy with a delicious beefy flavor due to the heavy sear. The caramelized onions and melty cheese add a creaminess and depth of flavor, and it's all wrapped in a super pillowy soft bun. Order two of these with the freshly fried crispy salt and pepper fries and you're gonna have a good time. For the seafood options, my favorite things are the shrimp toast and the rockfish banh mi. The shrimp toast has a bunch of delicious springy shrimp paste fried together with crispy bread, topped with a fresh slaw and creamy chili oil mayo. The rockfish banh mi is more veggie forward than your traditional Vietnamese banh mi, but the veggies are well seasoned and are super fresh, which is nice if you're getting some of the fried appetizers. The rockfish on top is a rockfish patty that has the texture in between a meatball and a fish cake, and is light in flavor but goes well with all the veggies.

The tempura batter for all three came apart a little too easily, though it was even more so with the fried cod, as it was hard to use a spoon and fork to scoop up the easily broken pieces. Shrimp and oyster were both really good and not too salty on their own. French fries were also really filling, and were very fresh - they were on the verge of being too salty.
