I had an excellent dinner at Indigmal. The Gobi Manchurian was a standout. It was crispy and coated in a flavorful sauce without becoming soggy. The avocado apple chaat was okay, but it contained too much avocado and needed more acidity to balance the richness. The shrimp masala and lamb Chettinadu were both flavorful and paired well with the basmati rice and garlic naan. The cocktails ($11) were also enjoyable, and they have a full bar with a good selection of drinks. Service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean with a nice, inviting ambience. Street parking is available nearby. Aside from the chaat needing a little adjustment, everything else was excellent, and I would definitely return. read more

Incredible food and friendly staff and service. Attentive and informative menu recommendations with all suggestions spot on. Started with papad crisps and vegetable samosa. Main meals were accompanied by freshly baked garlic naan. Dishes were chicken cheera, lamb chettinadu and chicken biriani. While enjoying dinner, nice soft and pertinent music played while enjoyed the meals in comfortable seating and a comfy and well decorated dining area made for dates, general dining, or special occasions. I had the best meal in recent history, yesterday. Definitely the best Indian food of my life. A friend and I went to Indigma yesterday, it was her first time but I'd been a frequent customer pre-2020. I am Thrilled to say the quality has actually gone up, something I didn't think possible. It is quiet and cozy inside and we were seated without issue. The drink menu was nice and the selection serviceable. Honestly the food is the star though. We got the lamb croquette- lamb stuffed with goat cheese and served over spiced diced potatoes. Phenomenal. Do recommend. She got the paneer saag (medium) and I got the Lamb Saag (hot). We got goat cheese stuffed naan to share. Both meals were unreal. My Lamb though????? I'm going to be dreaming about it. Highly recommend the food and the server was so good. I am not sure what was happening last night for restaurant week but it was wild. Only one section of the place is open, and there were two people working. One was a very sweet girl who told everyone it was her first day as she served as host, bartender, waitress, and barback. The other was whomever was making food. We were all crammed into two by two tables by the walls and waited over two hours for food that was underwhelming. Do not get the crab appetizer: it was lukewarm crab on a piece of iceberg lettuce. The gobi app was nice. Everything else was ..not what was stated on the menu? The steak was ground meat, the creme brulee was rice pudding, etc. So just be prepared for a very odd and long night out. read more

I just paid $50 for a mediocre dinner. Not the worst meal I ever had, but definitely and utterly disappointed. I ordered chicken biryani, but ended up getting a bland vegetable biryani which is nothing more than overcooked rice with mushy vegetables and just a hint of biryani spices. I don't even remember seeing a vegetable biryani option on their Yelp menu. I would have overlooked this mistake if my lamb vindaloo was any good. It was well cooked lamb and potato pieces in an oily bed of cooked tomato sauce. Did they just throw in the meat with a left over curry base meant for another dish!! Gulab jamun was good, but it was not the honey immersed piece of exotic deliciousness that I paid $8 for. It pains me to give a bad review to a restaurant, especially during these tough times. Have been there twice. Very delicious food, friendly service. Authentic Indian cuisine but in a luxury version. We tried sizzler(kebabs) as well as different subji like lamb and kofta. Freshly grated ginger topping on the lamp saag. Everything taste good that I believe you can pick brainlessly. The dessert is good, too. We tried crème brûlée and Gulab Jamun. Gulab Jamun is awesome, can taste the cardamon and rose water in there. Friendly service. The owner will check in with each table and chat with us. Apparently the restaurant has been here for decades (which is impressive to me!) The business is busier than the last time we came, happy to see that. Also more employees. Really overpriced for just-meh food. And no matter what spice level you tell them to do, it will be spicy, even if you request very mild. So either they ignore your request or they make one big food pot and serve everyone from that. They are also scammy, which I really don't like.. And if you want your change back if you paid cash, good luck because they will go a very long way to keep up the bit/the lie that you had no change and smile through gaslighting you. Just give me my damn change and stop pretending you dropped it. They lost all my respect after that, because I will never support scammers who overcharge me and who skimp on good quality ingredients (another scam). Shame on them. This place is always locked on non-weekend nights. So you can't just come in, you have to knock. So it doesn't feel welcoming or even remotely safe even though their neighbor is a popular pizza joint. read more

We have been coming here for a while now. Amazing food always never had anything to complain about. On the last visit, however we noticed that the concierge kept people waiting quite a long time at the door and we even saw a couple people leave because they weren't being attended to or seated promptly. Outside of tikka masala I am not very acquainted with Indian cuisine. But I love the flavors of Indian dishes and have heard great things about this place so I decided to take advantage of their terrific lunch buffet deal ($13). I arrived early while everything was still being set out. When the buffet was ready the owner - after discovering I knew very little of Indian food - gave me a thorough walkthrough of the buffet explaining the dishes. There were roughly 20 dishes to try (including the appetizers and dessert) and I sampled all but a few (except dessert). It was one of the best meals I've had - I was blown away. Every dish was unique and had amazing flavor. There was not one dish I didn't like and got seconds of each one on my second trip to the buffet. Another amazing Restaurant Week goes by here in Baltimore! That means experiencing as many new tastes as possible in our city! We walked into this posh spot for some Indian classics but quickly learned that we had more than just the ordinary Indian cuisine coming our way. We started off with two amazing craft Martinis, followed by our delicious appetizer, Keema Aloo kofta - minced lamb / spicy potato croquette. So unique in flavor and hearty. Our main course came out with a smoking, sizzling debut! Beautifully green Herbed Chicken Kabob Sizzler - coated with green herbs / mint / ginger. The Lamb Chettinadu was heart-stopping delicious - red curry leaf sauce / coconut / southern Indian spices. Both entrées came with steaming basmati rice, seasoned with delicate spices and plump green peas. As if my head wasn't spinning enough with all the rich flavors and spices... second round of martinis... YES SIR! Mr. Tony, the owner of Indigma was a delight to speak with and a Baltimore staple in the culinary scene. Over 40 years of owning, cooking and running 11 Restaurants and he's not stopping anytime soon. Thank goodness for that because this has now become my go to spot for outstanding Indian fare with a twist. Dinner ended with this award winning Cardamom Crème Brûlée... Just WOW. Came here for a weekend lunch. Indigma is located in Mt. Vernon. The decor and interior were great. Service was fast and friendly as well. Unfortunately the food was just OK. The lemon rice is definitely a nice add and goes well with the fattier/savory cuts however the chicken options we had were average. We tried the chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, tandoori, the lamb and the saag paneer. Gotta say, their saag paneer was really good. The lamb was also tender. The tikka masala was pretty watery and lacking that distinct creaminess though. Chicken curry and tandoori were ok. On the weekends, they offer a complimentary mimosa (mango based, can switch to OJ if desired) which is great. Overall, the food didn't leave a lasting impression but i'd definitely be happy to try again soon. read more

I had the best experience coming to Indigma for their Thali Night. Thali is an Indian-style meal where various dishes are presented on one large platter. Such a cool concept and a great way to try a little bit of everything. For my vegetarian thali dish, 8 different small bowls filled with savory foods - curry, yogurt, rice, eggplant, etc. - were delivered on one larger, rectangular plate. You take the small bowls and serve yourself on the larger plate, thereby creating your own unique meal. The super kind and hospitable husband-wife pair that owns the establishment educated me on what all the foods were - and everything was truly delicious! One of the worst experiences that I've had in my life. I think of myself as a pretty easy person to please as long as a receive somewhat adequate service, I can forgive the mediocre quality of the food. Well buckle up for a story on my terrible experience at this place. My friend had made a reservation for 5 at 6:30. We arrived a little bit early to let the one waitress know that we had had an extra person coming. However, it wasn't until they showed up that the waitress even decided to set up the tableware for the 6th person, forgetting about giving a new glass and lying that we had just told her about the 6th person. This pattern continued throughout the night with terrible service and lack of communication. We had arrived with my friend's parents having a flight a few hours after we arrived. However his parents had to leave 1.5 hours after we had ordered with only one dish that had come out. The waitress should not be employed at any service place. She is the most unprofessional and incompetent person I have ever met in the service industry. The fact that she has a job must be due to nepotism. What annoyed me the most is that she lied multiple times to the chef and to my friend about what actually happened. She tried to pretend like she told us it would be a wait when we first came in and if we had told her about my friend's parents' flight, the food would have come faster, which irked me since the speed of our food would not have changed since we were the only party that had made an order at that time. The waitress had a record of gaslighting us whenever we had a question we had to ask When we brought up our concerns with the chef, he brushed aside our experiences and repeated the lies that the waitress had said that we had been told the wait would be long. He then said he would give us a discount, took 20 minutes to decide the discount (and we were already in a rush to get out) and ended up giving us a 10% discount which is absurd for the mediocre food and terrible experience we had. Even with the discount, the cost was still over $160 The food itself was not bad but nothing special. My mom could have made better Indian food in her sleep. TLDR; The food was mediocre and overpriced. The waitress should not be employed in the service industry and the owner/chef enables his employee to gaslight her customers as well as has a lack of sympathy or understanding that you would expect from a normal person. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. read more

We checked this place out Aug 30th (via DoorDash). My wife ordered dinner, and I am not the biggest fan of Indian cuisine. We got tghe Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Marsala and Stuffed Naan. OMG, this was devil-icious! The spices were right on, the creamy sauce... well, we just couldn't get enough. And the Naan was perfect to soak up that extra sauce. But the food took over an hour to be ready and the waitress was unable to refill our drinks while we waited because she said only the chef knew the bar and he was cooking our food. Their vegan and gluten-free options provide a lighter touch to Indian food, which at times can be way too heavy with so much cream, ghee, and wheat flour. I had a good experience at Indigma. I walked there but there is street parking and also a parking lot across the street. The dining area is well decorated and the bathrooms are clean. I had the crab naan crisps, stuffed naan (potato), and the chicken cheera. The food was delicious and spiced very well. I'm interested to see if in the future they would add paratha to the menu. My friend and I wanted to try a new Indian restaurant in the area and this came up on our search. Looked interesting from the description so we went. When we got there the place seemed closed, the door was locked and no one was inside. Eventually someone came to the door and let us in, Not a lot of employees or customers at the time so we were skeptical at first. But surprisingly the food and service were good. We ordered two of their martinis which we loved. For starters we had the gobi manchurian and the open face samosa. I've never heard of an open faced samosa but we love samosas and gave it a chance. The starters weren't that great, needs some improvement. But the entrees were delicious, we had the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. Finally we had the rasmalai with mango ice cream for dessert, it was a little too thick for our liking and the flavor we were looking for wasn't there. Any new Indian restaurant we try, I believe it's important to order the most popular item that people order most.
