Everything was amazing! Can't wait to come back soon! The food was delicious and the mimosas were bottomless! Top knotch brunch!

    Patio seating is ultra cozy!

I left Baltimore 15 years ago, came back for a work trip. For a city that sometimes suffers under inadequate leadership, it's places like ADR that do the real work of keeping the cultural reputation of the area intact. ADR has been open since 1997, operating in the first floor of the Ambassador apartment building on Canterbury. It's a block from University Ave in the Hopkins Lacrosse corridor. Having not seen my father since before the pandemic, he picked me up and suggested the meal, one of his regular haunts. First off, the building is really beautiful. I think we're talking depression-era tudor revival? IDK, I'm not an architect. So there's lots of dark wood trim, intricate plasterwork, large fireplaces. Very stately. Now the food. We ordered (1) the calamari, which was pleasantly sautéed in some kind of chili oil. No deep fried rubber here! (2) The lamb samosas, which were surprisingly light on the inside, not super heavy like the lentil ones can be. (3) The medium-spice special biryani, with chicken, lamb (awesome) and shrimp (awesomer). I need to emphasize that the shrimp in my biryani were absolutely huge. I mean those things were gigantic and succulent. Great experience with those shrimp! We both ordered the key lime ice cream for dessert. Dad told me there's a local place that makes the ice cream on spec for them. More of a rumor, but it is great ice cream. Key lime (and citrus in general) is a favorite of mine, and this ice cream holds its own very well against some other competition. When reading for this review, I found out that ADR was awarded best Indian restaurant for a second year by Baltimore Magazine. No surprises there, these folks absolutely know what they're doing.

My darling and I come here frequently for birthdays and anniversaries. It's a lovely romantic ambience. Excellent choice for a date if you like Indian food. We always get an order of samosas and my honey gets lamb or salmon, and I order aloo gobi. The samosas are delicious and my aloo gobi is always flavorful and hearty. My honey enjoyed the lamb vindaloo extra extra spicy during our last visit.

It is pricey but it's definitely a nice restaurant for big events or special occasions so I understand where the price is coming from! The food itself was alright. I had the Bengan Bhartha which had an excellent spice level at the medium level. I couldn't imagine getting the highest level! I also liked the appetizers too! The naan was a bit weird - it kind of reminded me of frozen naan I've had from grocery store but everything else was good!

The Ambassador Dining Room is such an interesting restaurant, and I'm glad I finally checked it out! It's the the dining room off the lobby of the Ambassador Apartments (a Tudor-Gothic high rise built in 1930). The building is gorgeous; I don't always take photographs of the lobby of a building before brunch! The restaurant is also beautiful (the fireplaces, the beams, the windows, the patio), but it was dark. The Ambassador Dining Room is an Indian restaurant that offers a brunch buffet on weekends. We had a reservation (but it wasn't necessary) for outside dining, but the outside dining turned out to be inside (the garage doors that open the patio to the courtyard were closed). It was great to go at 11am. The food wasn't quite ready when we arrived, but then at 11:10, the food was ready and hot and fresh. The buffet had quite a few options, everything from vegetarian dishes to fish, chicken, and lamb. They also had coffee, chai, and an alcoholic beverage bar (make your own brunch cocktails), as well as desserts (gulab jamun, rice kheer, fruit, and a cake). I enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant, but the food was so-so. I liked some dishes more than others I tried. Although I enjoy a buffet, the food didn't hit the spot quite like other Indian restaurants in Baltimore. But Ambassador Dining Room is a great place for a boozy brunch with friends or family since they have that beverage bar, and I can imagine returning sometime soon for that reason!

I absolutely loved it, from the prompt service to the ambience to the local, delicious food, we had such a lovely dinner. I came for oysters and I got them. First we had a dozen raw oysters from the True Chesapeake farm, which were so fresh and flavorful. My favorite hands down was the Chunky Dunker oyster, gigantic and meaty. Then we had broiled oysters, you know, for some variety! They were fantastic. Dinner was fabulous, I had the scallops and my husband had the fish. We ate every single bite, and all but licked the plates clean. To finish, we had dessert cocktails - the Grasshopper tastes like an Andes mint - and we happily headed home with full bellies. I can't wait to come back and try more of the local seafood on offer!

The apps were incredible. I absolutely loved the beet salad, steak tartare and the handmade spaghetti with clams. You can't go wrong with the brisket meal or their sides - whether it's the grilled chicken or the CAULIFLOWER. GET IT! The oysters were hyper local. Good but not the greatest as I prefer more northern. They have a great selection of oysters locally available so everyone could find one they'd like. I preferred one of them but they didn't identify which was which.

We were right in front of the oyster shucking area which was entertaining to watch. We ordered a dozen oysters, six of two different kinds. The oysters are priced by the half dozen here just FYI. I feel like Dylan's has some of the freshest oysters in Baltimore. I love that they're not all huge ginormous dinner plates but some are small and petite with a light brine. We also ordered the french onion dip, potato skins, caesar salad, and brussel sprouts. The french onion dip had great flavor and went well with the potato chips (I subbed extra chips in place of the crackers to make it gluten free). I only wish the dip was served warm. The brussels were absolutely delicious with great flavor and texture, and not swimming in the sauce like some other places. The stern fern martini is one of my faves but I can't drink more than one and once the other salty dishes started coming out, I needed something different so I opted for the yuzu cider. That was really refreshing and delicious! The basque cheesecake for dessert was good but not the best I've had. Service at the bar seemed a bit rushed but it may have been because the place was packed. It was a Tuesday night but at 6:30pm, every seat was full. By 8pm the place really cleared out so we'll time our visit a little later next time. The owner, Dylan, was working the floor alongside his staff and was nice enough to offer us some of his home-made hot sauce. It was really good! My only wish would be for the menu to be better marked for gluten free options.

I also ordered the happy hour tacos (oyster and catfish). They were okay, nothing to run home about. Since the restaurant clearly has some elevated sauces, I would love to see those same sauces incorporated into the tacos to make them stand out more. Otherwise, they feel pretty standard. There was an up-charge to replace the cauliflower with broccolini. -Seafood flatbread I had the bread pudding for dessert. I enjoyed the starters more than the main courses. The drinks were luscious and the food was good. The service was attentive and friendly. It's located in a quaint neighborhood of Baltimore reminiscent of Adams Morgan in DC. The food available for purchase was good, though when I visited the menu was limited, and they had run out of dessert. That was disappointing; however, the owner was kind enough to comp us for the missing dessert, which I appreciated. Be aware that the atmosphere can get a bit rowdy, depending on the guests in nearby pods. There is also a BYOB option, which my group and I fully took advantage of. The host/hostess area is dark and not clearly identifiable. The staff and owner are very nice. The owner directed the server to take us to a private room, since we were first time patrons, but failed to mention the upcharge, which was significant. It was a holiday, so the menu was pre-set with a flat charge. We had to ask, no one volunteered the pricing, it wasn't indicated on the special menu. My experience was very underwhelming. The positives: I liked that there is a parking lot across the street specifically for the restaurant because street parking is very limited. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was nice and tried her best to be attentive even though the kitchen was so backed up and moving at a snails pace. The pita bread was delicious. The desserts were great. My favorites were the baklava and loukoumades. Really the only dessert I didn't care for was the chocolate rum and roses cake because I'm not a big rose fan because it has the tendency of overpowering the other flavors in certain treats. The negatives: The kitchen was very slow at getting things out, even though the restaurant wasn't packed. Aside from the desserts, I didn't care for the food. The biggest issue was everything was lukewarm by the time we received it at our table. The hummus was just ok. The bread was great alone. The Greek village salad had way more feta than anything else and needed more oil and vinegar. The spanakopita was ok but some batches came out burnt but they were never hot. The Cyprus meatballs were so burnt that we couldn't even eat them. The lamb and beef dip was too salty. The stuffed grapes leaves were just ok. The macaronia tou fournou had the potential to be really good but it was not warm enough. I want to believe it was just a bad night and maybe their food is better outside of restaurant week but I'm afraid to try again and be disappointed. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning.

Carolyn (I believe was her name) was our server, and she was just fantastic. She was pleasant and attentive. My daughter and I split four of the mezzedes, and I ordered the mushroom soup and she ordered a side of lemon potatoes. My favorite dish was the wood-fired olives. Simple, but so very good. She loved the halloumi so much, we got a second order (it is a super small serving). The spanikopita, on the other hand, was quite large and meant for sharing. We're vegetarian and found the options both bountiful and delectable. While it is a bit on the pricey end of the spectrum, I'd say it's worth it.
