    Bayou Wings

A throwback to New Orleans with the frozen Hurricanes. We did have to ask to order drinks getting our appetizer order in before. The Executive Chef coming out to thank us for visiting was a nice touch. The appetizers were great. The seafood dip had chunks of shrimp which I couldn't stop eating. The ate all of the wings. I was full by the time dinner came. The Bourbon Salmon was blackened with shrimp and creole sauce. The Seafood Gumbo had a nice roux and the right amount of spiciness. It seemed like we had a newer waiter. Small details like keeping the water filled and asking if we wanted another drink or dessert kept me from rating higher. Everyone was very nice which made for a nice visit.

    Peach cobbler

The pictures on DoorDash was misleading. The peach cobbler is presentable on line, but in person it looks and tastes disgusting. I also ordered the jambalaya and it was disappointing. Last year I had tried the gumbo and it was an expensive disappointment. For their prices I will no longer be patronizing this restaurant. The food isn't good. Like, at all.

Stumbled upon this place while I visiting another establishment inside of this food hall. I was greeted by one of the men up front as this place looked like food I'd like. I originally ordered the Beignets as I only wanted dessert but changed my mind once I saw the rest of the menu. I ended up grabbing the red velvet skillet cornbread, regular cornbread and Lobster Mac & Cheese. The Beignets were good and warm. The cornbread could have been better. The regular cornbread isn't warmed up like the red velvet skillet cornbread. Both seemed to taste more like cake than cornbread but were ok. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was slide for the price. Nothing mind blowing but good. A nice portion of fried lobster is placed on top of the mac & cheese. Overall it's a cool spot. Prices are solid and the customer service is ok. If I'm in the neighborhood I'd stop by.

Visited second time. I was excited to see the traffic picked up for this local restaurant. The taste of the appetizer and entree was amazing. Our server/ bartender was very friendly. Things they can improve on: operations. They took our appetizer to the wrong table. Then immediately brought out one persons entree. He was half way through his entree before our server noticed I didn't receive mine and went to check on it. It was sitting in the back for a while. We noticed they did the same at other tables as well. If they can improve on their operations, I know they will be an amazing place to visit. We will return again.

    Seafood Mac

The service was wonderful. Cory our waiter was extremely attentive and very patient with the questions my 7 year old niece asked. My entree was the baked seafood Mac and it was delicious. I'd definitely come back for that. We also had the Georgia peach tea which was extremely good.

Catfish and grits with shrimp added

YUM! We got catfish and shrimp over grits with an amazing sauce. The shrimp were succulent and delicious. The grits were so good, we saved some and had them with breakfast. Will definitely be back.

    Fried Catfish and Grits

Creole Soul is located in R House. It was nice having a soul food option in the food court. We were there on a Friday night. It was a nice crowd but it wasnt packed. I had the fried catfish and grits. It took about 30 minutes to be ready. The catfish was okay but the grits stole the show. The grits are a buttery savory compliment to the fish. I believe the cashier was new. He seemed a little overwhelmed, but i think with practice he'll get it.

    Bread Pudding

I stop at R house for dessert and found myself at Creole Soul. I ordered the bread pudding and it was so delicious warmed up. I'll have to return to check out the entrees.

    Big Boy

Yelp fam!!! I'm a big sandwich fan, PoBoys hold. Special place in my heart! That being said the PoBoys at Creole Soul were like that! When I initially walked up to the location to check out the menu I noticed a grandma in the back cooking/prepping food. That's all I needed to see. I ordered (She tired of little money need a) Big Boy - shrimp & lobster PoBoy - L,T,P & sauce comes with fries- this thing was fresh and Slapped!!! Solid crinkle fries with old bay! They had nana's banana pudding, had to try it. This is by far one of the best Banana puddings I've eaten! You can taste the love it was made with in every bite! Muddy creek water- 1/2 & 1/2 - great way to wash it all down. Sweet and familiar This spot is located inside of R house. The ambiance there is similar to Mt Vernon Marketplace. The service was great, very nice and attentive.

    Goat egg rolls
    Janelle M.

My husband ordered the goat egg rolls and chicken, rice and plantains. The goat eggrolls have a kick of spice but my heat tolerance is low. But they were so good I kept eating. I've had better plantains. These were not sweet.

    Shrimp po boy
    Mia L.

While in Remington for something else, I decided to stop by R.House. After looking over all the stalls and options, I decided to go with Creole Soul. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy which came with a side of fries. I also got some peach cobbler. I ended up getting my food to go. One thing I found a little weird was that I got two different types of fries. Some were straight and others were crinkly cut. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally or if they ran out of one, used another, and just threw them together. The fries weren't anything spectacular anyway. However, the star of the show was the po boy. It consisted of huge, crispy shrimp on a soft roll with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and some sort of sauce (remoulade?). The peach cobbler was just ok to me. Honestly, I could do that po boy again and wouldn't miss the fries at all. I've been to Creole Soul on another occasion but for the life of me, I can't remember what I ordered. I know I got mac and cheese and I really enjoyed it. Overall, I give Creole Soul 3.5 stars.

So it cost me $10-15 to for a plastic takeout container. Had I not looked at the customer copy of the bill I would have not only not known but I would have tipped based on the total which already included the additional gratuity charge (which was not disclosed on the merchant copy). This is so unnecessary and ruined what would have been a good experience. They said it was a "sharing charge" which I have experienced and applies when u have another diner with you and u decide to split an entree. Had they disclosed I would at least had the option to finish the meal. The saying "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies " seems to apply as this left such a bad taste I doubt I will return despite the fact the crab cake was delicious and the loaded baked potato was average (hardly loaded) Beware of the hidden gratuity for take home leftovers!!! Update to above: I did follow up with Angie this morning and she was very kind and offered to credit back my card for the extra gratuity. She also explained that I was misled about the "sharing charge" but they do automatically add 15% gratuity regardless of party size or quality of service. So I would give 4 stars for the food quality and 1 star for the way in which they present and charge gratuity. Tipping should remain at the discretion of the diner based on service and food quality otherwise just get rid of tipping and raise your prices

She was so friendly and made my experience a great one. The margarita flight she made was strong and delicious. I ordered from the 3 course restaurant week menu, which had a nice variety of choices for each course. I chose bayou rolls, steak with mashed potatoes and greens (it came with broccolini but I loathe the bitterness of broccolini so I was able to sub for greens), and white chocolate bread pudding. The bayou rolls were slightly salty but they were still good. My steak was overcooked but I don't believe in sending meals back. The bartender brought me some melted garlic butter without me asking and said, "I believe it was supposed to come with a glaze but they ran out. I figured you would like the garlic butter instead." I really appreciated her because it did help me to eat that dry steak. The white chocolate bread pudding was to die for!!! It was so good and warm and the ice cream was the cherry on top. I returned a month later because they were doing a surprise deals. At the conclusion of my last visit, I was given a sealed envelope to open at my next visit to see what my surprise was. I was surprised with a free cocktail. I got the Blackberry French. It was good but not very strong. I also got charbroiled oysters and a catfish sandwich. Both were great although my fries that came with the sandwich were a little soggy. The service at this visit was good as well. I will definitely be back soon for happy hour.

It was 3 of us and we were able to get seated right away. The restaurant itself is cutely designed and very spacious. I always love the open duct look, and the area with the grass wall is a cute photo op. The menu has a lot of options from small plates to entrees. I chose the Cajun salmon recommended by our waiter Shaccari. I had it with the Mac and cheese and collard greens with corn bread. I have no complaints about any of it! The salmon was cooked to perfection! Loved the cork screw noodles in the Mac and the greens were A1. My friends said they could've been more tender but they were perfect to me! I do like my vegetables with a little bite tho. And I don't know what kind of honey they use on the corn bread but babyyy SO GOOD ! Our waiter Shaccari was excellent. He had plenty of recommendations, was funny and sweet. Everything came out quick but still fresh! I got their fresh squeezed blueberry lemonade to go, and that was also really good. The place is mostly carry-out, but there are a few bar-style seats if you want to eat there. The menu isn't your typical fast food lineup either, they've got some creative, non-traditional options that definitely stand out.
