    Vegetable Jalfrezi

We had a really great first meal at Mount Everest. Decided to check it out for a change of pace. It's a relatively unassuming place right on the Avenue in Hampden but the food is really great. We had the samosa appetizer and then the chicken chow chow noodles (fabulous), chicken tikka masala (absolutely delicious), chicken jurelly (very good), vegetarian jalfrezi (very good) and garlic Naan (delicious). The only miss was the momo which are dumplings but the chicken mix inside was dry and not very flavorful. Other than that we had a great meal and it was not too expensive. Entrees were around $15. Will definitely be back!

i went here with some friends when our initial dinner plans fell through. when you are seated, you will see that they fold the napkins all cute and table setup is nice. the service was very good, my water glass was never empty. i ordered the chicken momos. the sauce was very good (as expected for momos) and the momos were full of meat and flavor. additionally, the portion size was quite large and i was able to take some home for my next meal. i would certainly return to mt everest in the future.

I've been to Mount Everest twice now - once to eat in and once to pick up takeout. I love it. The food is delicious; the menu has a little bit of everything; the restaurant is casual and traditional and charming; and the service is great. The menu has a lot to offer, from some traditional Indian dishes (samosas, pakoras, saag, Tikka Masala, biryani, chana masala) to Nepali specialties (momo - dumplings, chow chow - noodles, and more). If you love Indian food, you'll like Mount Everest. If you love Nepali food, you'll like Mount Everest. If you've never tried either, give it a shot. So far I've tried: Himalay Junelly (GREAT; we've eaten it twice), Chicken Chow Chow (delicious!), Bone-in goat curry (yum), Mt. Everest Momo (great), garlic naan (also great), and Kashmiri naan (amazing). I love that we live walking distance to this great Nepali restaurant right on the Avenue in Hampden. We'll be regulars for dine in and takeout!

Great Indian food on 36th! Really good chicken tika, not dry like a lot of other spots. Saag paneer and garlic naan were delicious. A+

Food is very good. But the buffet is pricey, $20 versus $16 at Kumari. Buffet selection was also very limited

From the moment you walk under the welcoming sign inside you can tell this place is cared for. It is a beautifully maintained, smaller restaurant that maximizes its space perfectly. The dining area is incredibly clean, cozy, and bright, featuring crisp tablecloths and an awesome "Save the Himalayas" wall mural that adds a great touch of character to the room. The service here is incredibly fast and attentive. We barely had to wait at all before our table was filled with fresh, steaming dishes. The food is where this place truly shines. Everything we ordered was packed with vibrant, well-balanced spices. Appetizers: We started with a perfectly crispy fried pakora/fritter served with sweet and tangy dipping sauces which set a high bar for the rest of the meal. The Momos: You absolutely cannot leave without trying their momos. They are perfectly doughy, juicy, and paired with an addictive orange chutney. We couldn't get enough of them. For the main course, the traditional metal thali tray offered a spectacular variety of flavors. Between the spiced chicken, seasoned potatoes, savory chickpea mixture, and beaten rice, every single component on the plate was an absolute hit. Small, clean, lightning-fast service, and exceptionally great food. Himalayan House hits all the right notes for a perfect casual lunch or dinner. I will definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu!

It's not the best Indian I've ever had but it'll do in a pinch. I was crazing papadam and they do that very well. I like the tamarind and mint sauce and the yogurt sauce is standard but yummy. The butter chicken is flavorful and the lamp as well. The naan was okay and the biryani is quite bland. The worst thing for me is how dry the chicken is. Even though all the chicken was covered in sauce, they were somehow very dry. I'm glad I tried Nepal Place but I would try a different place before returning here.

There's a few options to choose from and after trying each one, I think Nepal House has the best prices for the best quality and flavor. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and lamb vindaloo. Each came with its own serving of rice and included generous chunks of meat. They didn't just fill up the container with sauce and call it a day, the serving size definitely reflected the price unlike some other places. The lamb vindaloo was full of flavor and spice with soft squares of potatoes. The butter chicken was creamy and comforting with the right spice level. Everything was ready on time and packed with care. I'd love to return to dine in for their lunch buffet since it seems like a great deal.

My wife, our 6-year-old daughter, and I stopped in for an early dinner after spending several hours at the National Aquarium. The restaurant's proximity (under five minutes away) and strong online rating (~4.6) made it an easy choice. We were also influenced by a promotion advertised on their website: buy two entrées, get the third (chicken or vegetarian) free. When we tried to order under that promotion, our server told us they had not run it in "many years." If that is the case, it should not be listed online. It factored into our decision to dine there, and advertising an outdated special is misleading. That said, my negative review is not based primarily--or even secondarily--on the inaccurate promotion. Restaurants ultimately succeed or fail on taste and execution, and that is where this meal fell well short. We ordered the Lamb Junelly, the Kabob Platter, and two garlic naans. The Lamb Junelly, which I requested at a medium spice level, leaned noticeably sweet. It contained surprisingly little lamb, and while I did not find it overly chewy, my wife did. Overall, it lacked depth and balance. The bigger letdown was the Kabob Platter (chicken tikka, lamb seekh kabob, shrimp, and chicken tandoori). All three of us agreed the chicken tikka was dry and nearly flavorless. That says something, given how hungry we were after skipping lunch. My wife captured it best: "I was so looking forward to the Kabob Platter, and I was so disappointed by it. I left the restaurant almost sad." I felt much the same. Service was acceptable but inattentive. Our server never checked in during the meal. Had he done so, I likely would have asked for lemon slices to brighten the kabobs. When we left--around 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday--we were the only guests in the restaurant, yet there was no acknowledgment from our server or the staff members sitting nearby. That absence of basic hospitality stood out. This is not an inexpensive place (garlic naan costs $7 apiece). At those prices, execution and attentiveness matter. On this visit, both fell short. Among the many restaurants I have visited, this would land in my bottom quartile. I would not return, and I would not recommend it--especially for the à la carte dinner service.
