Finally found my go to dining spot in Towson: Kathmandu did not disappoint. Manoj, owner's nephew, provided excellent service. Everything I ordered was pretty delish: veggie pakora, chicken soup and chicken gorkhali. Particularly loved the flavoring and spices of gorkhali, and sliced ginger pieces make each bite that much nicer. This will be a repeat dining spot for my Towson business stays. Highly recommend this place to anyone that likes Nepalese and Indian cuisine as many of their dishes are a crossover from Indian food. read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant and it was fabulous choice for a rainy day! Gosh, the food smelled so good that we weren't sure if we could wait the four minute drive home! But it was worth it, the food is so delicious and cozy, felt right at home. I absolutely enjoyed trying the veggie momo dumplings for the first time, those flavors are out of this world! Even though the aloo kauli spice level was a less than what I wanted, the delicious flavors of the baigan Bartha and breads made up for it. Customer service was quick, easy, and communicative. They also have the best white rice I have ever had at a restaurant, across my 28 years living in 5 different states. I first visited here in April 2019. I ordered the chicken korma, roti and gulab jamun to go. The chicken korma came also with rice. I took the food home and thought it was pretty good. I visited here again on June 13, 2019, this time it was my husband, myself and 2 of our friends and we sat down at the restaurant to dine in. When we arrived there were 2 other couples dining in the restaurant. The menu is huge, has a ton of offerings and you can adjust the spice level. They do not have a bar or offer any type of liquor; no liquor license. We ordered the veggie and shrimp pakora. The veggie pakora only had onions in it, no other vegetable was detected in it. We asked the waitress if it was definitely veggie pakora and she said yes but the veggie one and onion one look similar. That's strange. The shrimp pakora was not very appetizing. The grease tasted old and not much flavor. For our meals, we had roti, lamb rogan josh and chicken curry. Everything tasted alright, nothing special or outstanding. Everything was going alright. Service was okay, not great. We voiced some complaint about the salt level in the food. There was no offer at first to remake or offer to replace with something else. What really freaked us out was out of the corner of my eye...I spotted a mouse!! That was it! I had enough. My friend discreetly pulled the waitress aside and let her know about the mouse. It's to be expected, with food comes rodents but your customers should not SEE them, especially while they are eating! This has never happened to me while sitting in any restaurant in my 34 years of living! After we left and got home, I felt ill. Not sure if it was a mental thing, from seeing the mouse or not but I visited the bathroom a few times throughout the nigh. :-( Needless to say, we won't be going back. If I was the owner/manager, I would have came out and apologized to my customers and offered to pay their bill. The waitress didn't even apologize or show any concern. read more

We've ate at the buffet. Small selection, but everything on it is killer. Attentive staff makes sure your glass is topped off, or you get naan as soon as it comes out. Take out/Dining in tho is on another level. Tikka masala is next level, and because we ask for them to make it extra spicy (unrepentant chili heads), they never fail to make it sting. Could not appreciate them more. It's worth the drive to go there (round trip is 1 hr). We've been going there for over 12 years. It is well worth it. Sorry for no pictures, but as soon as the lids come off (take out), it's a feeding frenzy. This isn't like it's been the only restaurant that serves this type of food. Tried one in Delaware. Kathmandu Kitchen was the bar that was set. They failed miserably. When we came back three days later, we went straight to Kathmandu. Do yourself a favor. Try it once. We were in town for a vist and came across this familiar hometown restaurant. We tried jhol momo, regular momo, and butter chicken..and the food was sublime. Very tasty and nice hospitable staff and owner. Food is close to home tast and is a must try. Today we had Kathmandu Kitchen as we do many other nights. This restaurant is a common takeout place for my family. We typically order the chicken Tikka Masala, paneer saag, and naan. Some of the other items we have ordered are the samosas, momos, and shahi paneer. Our takeout experience has always been excellent ; the food is consistent. The tikka masala and the shahi are the most decadent sauces; they are both creamy and well seasoned. The place has vegetarian and meat options so it is great for families with different diets. Today we tried the momos for the first time and they were good; they didn't stick out as a must-have but I would definitely eat them again. You can never go wrong with the tikka masala though. I don't usually go to dine-in but I have gone in the past and have had good experiences. I believe they are currently only doing takeout. read more

This was my first time trying their lunch buffet. On their website it says 11:30-3:00 (which is wrong) but they had cleaned up the buffet by 2:40pm, so I had to come back another day. The need to update their website and not falsely advertise their hours. The food wasn't terrible but it was left out for the entirety of my stay (1 hour) without being replaced. Rice was old and crunchy. Food on burners was lukewarm. Naan wasn't soft and took an hour to replace. Probably won't return; better buffets elsewhere. read more

Im so sad that i have to rate this place so low. I love their food soooo much. This particular time I went here for dinner. I waited ordered the bread (that is more like a taco chip thats comes with three different sauces. Its really flavorful, but don't be confused, its not actually a bread). My girlfriend and I are sitting at the table waiting for out food and finally it comes out in all of its deliciousness! The smoking hot plate of chicken tikka, rice, and a side of sauce. We were super hungry, so we are excited and we did right in and start making our plates. As i am making my plate, a ROACH comes scurrying from under my plate and makes its way across my entire side of the table. I HATE BUGS OF ALL KINDS! So i hopped up from the table and started packing my things. Then i realized I needed to calm down. I didn't know if I should make a scene or what. So I just walked over to the front and told my server that I had a roach on my table and that I was leaving. I really have mixed feelings about the roach, because the food is good, they have good service, but I cannot go back if I know they are so reckless with roaches. In Towson and hungry after yoga we stopped for the weekend buffet ($8.99). Worth it. The selection was smaller than most buffets I've been to (a dozen or so items) but the dishes on offer were good; more than enough to get a sense of their culinary perspective. The rajma was smooth, warming, tomato-y (yum) and filling. The assorted pickles were a lovely mix of tangy, bright, spicy, and salty. Each a flavor blast - especially the preserved kaffir lime! The korma was robust yet well balanced. The rice pudding was sweeter than I prefer but it was creamy with subtle flavors of coconut and rose water. Between the two of us we sampled almost everything and the only one that let us down was the naan. It was dry, bland, chewy and possible days old. While nothing was unforgettable it was a pleasant experience and a great value. I'm sure we'll be back again. read more

Love this place! I will say that we have only ever come for dinner so I am not sure how the lunch buffet is. Some of our favorites to order are the veggie samosa's and chicken tikka.The samosa's are large, crispy and super flavorful and the chicken tikka is the best! The sauce is so flavorful and smooth. They will make it as spicy or non spicy as you like and it is served with rice. The chicken itself is also very good, you can tell it has been marinated and slow cooked. The naan is a great thing to order with the tikka, you can dip or make a small sandwich with it :) The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are never really busy either so we are always sat at a table as soon as we come in. They seem to have a lot more to go orders than dine in. Overall great restaurant! read more

Good indian food at a very reasonable price. Most of my experience here is with the lunch buffet, which is a great deal at only $8.50. I'm in no way an expert on indian food, but it does have some of the better chicken tikka masala that I've had. If you're short on time they also offer the buffet to go. It's still only $8.50, instead of charging by weight like most places, and they always offer a big portion on naan at no additional charge. I definitely recommend giving them a try! read more
