It's been a while since i've been through this part of Maryland because of the pandemic. I planned to stop at Cafe Spice, but they are closed Sundays. Royal Kitchen saved the day. I started with the Chicken MoMo Soup: Great dumplings in a lovely chicken based soup with fresh cilantro and celery! All dishes are spiced to order. I ordered the Chicken Kadai extra spicy. The dish started at a 5/10 and made it to about a 6.5/10 for heat. My sinuses opened, but at no time did I need to slow down. The orange dining room is like a meditation on Butter Chicken. Underwhelming Butter Chicken and Naan bread. Entree lacked layers and flavor. Just awful!!! Also, they're a little stingy with meat despite upward $20 for the entree. Walking in the place was a bit scruffy but cashier person was pleasant. Best discovery was a yellow sauce that traditional Loy came with their dumplings. No idea on name but it was flavorful. Overall: I will NEVER return. 1 stars on food because it wasn't raw. read more

We made a reservation for 6:00 PM to introduce our friends to Indian cuisine. My husband and I arrived first and were promptly seated by Rupesh at a round table as I requested when I made the reservation. The restaurant was empty which I do not understand, as the restaurant is such a quiet and peaceful place to enjoy tasty Indian cuisine. They always start you off with 3 kinds of dip and crispy bread. We each tried something different so that we could share tastes. The dishes we had were Chicken Tikka Masala (boneless cubes of chicken grilled in a Tandoor and cooked in a rich creamy tomato and onion sauce), Lamb Tikka Masala (lamb cooked in an array of masterfully blend of Masala), Chicken Saag (boneless chicken cooked with spinach and topped with spices) and Lamb Korma (tender cubes of lamb cooked in a cream sauce with nuts). All our dishes were served with Basmati rice and bursting with flavor. We also ordered two orders of Naan (soft flour bread baked in a clay Tandoor). The portions are always so generous that we had some to take home. The restaurant did fill up as the evening went on. Our friends were so pleased that they finally tried Indian cuisine and liked it. We were off to a good start with large crispy crackers and 3 sauces for dipping. Our friends ordered the Vegetable MoMo (traditional steamed dumplings made of vegetables and spices served with a dipping sauce) and a Chicken Tikka Masala (boneless cubes of chicken - grilled in tandoor and cooked in a rich creamy tomato and onion sauce). Came in tonight because I had a gift certificate from my future in-laws for my birthday that was back in February. They had heard it was really great authentic food so thoughtfully got me a $50 gift certificate. Finally went to go use it tonight and they wouldn't take it. Apparently they're under new ownership (but still same restaurant name) and they wouldn't accept it. Really annoying bc that is money someone already spent at the restaurant. Twas the night of Christmas and all through the house no leftovers were found and we were..... hungry. Pizza? Chinese? What the heck is even open tonight? I turned to my most trusted resource, YELP! Indian cuisine is probably my favorite food of all time (with Mexican, anything fig, and donuts coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) so I was happy to see Royal Kitchen was open and ready for my business. I called and was greeted by a very nice gentleman who took my order for takeout. Bonus points for repeating my order back to me correctly! It was ready at pick up time and was correct as ordered. The chicken tikka masala was very good and enough to split between two people, plus one more meal the next day! The chana masala was also delicious and enough for leftovers...twice! We basically got six meals out of two entrees because the portions were YUGE (I call that "American size"). The naan and garlic naan were yummers! Lamb saag is my go-to dish when ordering at Indian restaurants. This particular dish was quite plain. I couldn't taste any spices and it was really just bland. I wish I could say more. They did give us a good portion of rice, equivalent to a whole entree dish. read more

My family of five just moved to the area and have ordered delivery several times. The lamb curry, naan, and samosas are great. The rice is good. Prices are very fair. Children's options are nice. The delivery is fast and exactly what you expect from a food delivery restaurant. If you like the Indian food you've eaten in local Indian restaurants then you will like this place a little more. Took almost 2 hours to receive the food. Food was good, but not worth it. At least be HONEST... they told us 20 min on the phone. Others coming in said that they were also waiting over an hour but was told 20 min. When my boyfriend went inside to grab the food, they didn't even acknowledge him at any point, even after an hour of standing inside. Usually Yelp is nigh infallible when it comes to restaurant ratings but I guess even they have an occasional miss. Our visit was definitely more peasant than royal. Decor is sparse and cheap feeling while the overall atmosphere is unwelcoming. The food on the buffet was average with no real standouts. On our first trip up there was no naan so we asked for some. About ten minutes later they brought out 4 quarters for us and put 4 on the buffet. That was the last naan we saw. I did not see them refill the buffet items once during our visit. The proprietor spent most of our meal on his cellphone having a loud speakerphone conversation with BGE about bill payment. There are much better Indian restaurants in Baltimore. read more

Oh my gosh, this food was amazing. We got delivery and it arrived within 35 minutes. Best Naan I've ever had in my entire life and the eggplant was insane. When I noticed our order arrived without the naan I ordered, I called and asked if it could be removed from the bill. The driver graciously offered to go back to the restaurant, pickup a new order and drop it off to us for free -- he even included a free order of naan. We ordered a large set of dishes for takeout tonight. The fried vegetable pakoras and the fried cauliflower appetizers were very good. The Dahl tadka was thick and flavorful. The aloo gobi was ok but not well spiced. The okra was unusual in a tomato sauce. The chicken saag was very good, big chunks of chicken in a smooth processed spinach sauce. The goat curry was nice with moderate spice depth. We wish they would offer a choice of medium cayenne pepper hot (addition to mild, hot, and extra hot). Sunday means buffet. Had the jones for Indian and my honey and I wanted to give Royal Kitchen a try. We arrived about 40 minutes prior to the end of the lunch shift and we both decided buffet. A very decent spread of favorites like spinach pakora, lamb korma, chili chicken, chicken tikka masala, naan, "puffy bread", chicken fried rice, basmati rice, tandoori chicken and kabob meats and veggies among other things. The food was delicious and satisfying. Service? Well, the staff did keep our water glasses full. That, in itself, is worth the full tip. And the ambiance is very soothing. One of the best buffets in the area for those who like it mild. Royal Kitchen offers a ton of delicious Indian foods from tikka malsala, paneers, vindaloo, and every other buffet staple. The food was lacking the intense heat that one might be accustomed to in standard Indian food, which is good if you have a more sensitive palette but not so much if you're looking for something hotter. I would have loved for a better heat variety. Some of the dishes I sampled were firsts for me, with items resembling more Asian inspirations. Those were the real treats. A minor note is that the naan, while plentiful, was a bit too dry, though the other starch side dishes were superb. Royal Kitchen could turn up the spice a bit, but makes up for it in variety and other flavors. read more

This is a nice local Indian restaurant to try. I have been to many Indian restaurants and they all have their own spin on each dish. I love Vegetable Biryani, so that's what I got here. It's a great portion and has a great mix of vegetables in it. It's good... not my favorite biryani, but definately worth trying and have had it twice at this location. We also tried the Vegetable MoMo which are similar to steamed dumplings filled with some minced up vegetables and spices. The dumplings were very soft... kind of a weird consistency. However, the veggies on the inside with spices were good and the dipping sauce was good. The MoMo was also a good portion size. The service is great and a friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxing and they had some soft music playing. While they do not serve alcohol, it is BYOB. This was our second visit to this restaurant. Also, I had to ask our waitress three times for our coke and ice tea before FINALLY getting it halfway through the meal! HORRIBLE service! The portions are smaller than other Indian restaurants in the area. The food is tasty and fresh. We ordered garlic naan (which was better than others), chicken tikka marsala (not as spicy as others and smaller portion), chicken tikka kabobs (mostly onions, not much meat, smaller portion than others). So, given the lackluster service and smaller portions, I don't understand such high ratings. I love this restaurant. As a vegetarian I feel blessed. Indian cuisine is very vegetarian friendly. I can walk into any Indian buffet and know that I will be well fed. To start off this place is better than few of the other Indian restaurants. We ordered a variety of foods. I found the quantity was good but was very disappointed with the fish curry dish, there were barely any pieces of fish for a dish they are charging $17 and the preparation was also not very good. After losing faith in another very popular local Indian restaurant, I resorted to making my own. This is satisfying, but time consuming and not always practical. After finding RK on yelp, we decided to try it out. 1) you can order online! 2) they deliver within 5 miles We ordered the same items we ordered from the other place. The portion sizes are equivocal, the food flavor was tasty with enough heat and delivered hot. The naan varieties are good size and perfectly chewy. Overall, I think we have a winner. The key will be if the food taste the same the next time we order. I highly recommend trying them out. read more
