Fast order for pick up. Pleasant staff. The chicken chili left a lot to be desired. Very dry and hard. The raita was pumped full of sugar or something sweet. read more

Little gem tucked inside the shopping center next to Giant. I live close by so I always walk but there is plenty of parking. Took my friend here and we were the only ones dining. Probably because it was after the Ravens game. The service was great because we were the only ones in the restaurant. My friend ordered the lamb curry and she devoured it. I ordered the daal soup, chicken chilly and Nepali tea. I love the daal soup here, it's pretty filling. I ordered the chicken chilly because it's something different and I ordered it a spice higher than mild. It had a lot of flavor and wasn't too spicy for me. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Five stars for the chicken curry. Dropped by for take away and we got this with their rice. Medium spicy. Good portion for two. The masala was very flavorful and about as authentic as it gets. I particularly liked that they didn't dilute down the flavor with cream/dairy which a lot of places do. This was closer to a South Indian chicken curry than I've had at most places! read more

Kumari Restaurant - Chicken Curry - Indian Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Food and service need to improve. The price is too high compared with the others. Not too many foods to choose and foods are so so.

We ordered fried chicken dumplings and meat samosas for appetizers. Then we got chicken tika misala and lamb chops for our entrees. Everything was good and the service was good. I would visit again read more

I love coming here for Indian food. Nestled in south side marketplace but still low key. The food is bussing lol Decided to try something new today and get Lamb Pasanda, and it did not disappoint. It was fantastic! The Keema Naan is not my favorite but it's not too bad. I'm just used to only getting garlic Naan. It gets busy during lunch buffet so come check them out during dinner read more

Visited Kumari on a Friday night for dinner with my mom. It was quiet and peaceful inside. The seating area isn't large inside but comfortable as we were the only table for a bit. Our server/host was very friendly and took care of us. As far as the food, I truly expected more especially based on previous reviews of the restaurant. We started off with the veggie pakoras which were good. For the mains, I order the chicken curry which did not taste like any curry dishes I've had before. It seemed to lack spice which was very surprising for me. My mom ordered the chicken kahari and she was not a fan either. Maybe it was an off night but we will probably stick to our fave Indian food spot out in Glen Burnie. read more

The food is always good and some days they have spicy shrimp. It's super spicy so proceed with caution. The fried fish is amazing and the chicken Marsala is good also. Before Covid the buffet use to be 10.60 now it about 17.00 but it's definitely still worth going. They also use to let you take extra and tea but not it's for sit ins. They keep the hot nan coming. The servers are nice and patient. The place is quiet but can get busy around lunch. In the cut and you can park in the front no need to walk far. read more

So today I had Indian food for the first time this year! I found a spot in my new neighborhood and decided to give it a try. I'm having their lunch special which is Chicken Tikki Marsala /w Rice and fresh Naan, two orders of Vegetable Samosas for later, and I must say this is so very good. I think have found my spot for Local Indian Cuisine! -- eating lunch at Kumari. read more

This food was terrible - we ordered from Door Dash and it was honestly so bad we couldn't eat it. The chicken tikka masala was so sweet it was inedible. It was also dyed red and looked gross. The cream sauce was extremely thin. Chicken portion was also very small compared with other restaurants. The lamb vindaloo had lots of stems and seeds in it that should've been strained out. Lamb was very tough. Finally, the garlic naan was stale and flavorless. We threw it all out. I used to eat here often when I worked in the neighborhood. Maybe ownership changed but this is truly disgusting. read more

Disclaimer: I have only ever tried their buffet. This means I have tried a number of dishes, but they were not as fresh or bespoke as an individual order would be. That said, Kumari was fine. Service was good, the place was clean. I would say you should still try it. But for me it just want what I wanted. I tend to go for very spicy, very flavor packed Indian. Maybe that would have happened if I had ordered off the menu, but for the buffet it just didn't do it for me. read more

We tried this place a few years ago and it wasn't bad. But we JUST picked them up the other day (takeout) and I switched it up from my usual chicken tikka masala to some lamb biryana, which sounded good (though I've never had it before). This is a rice specialty, so it's heavy on the rice - but holy cow, the morsels of lamb were INCREDIBLE! The meat was so tender - just falling apart at the fork - and both the rice and the lamb were really flavorful. So. Good. So good, that it may have just converted my 'default' order to lamb biryana after years of dedication to chicken tikka masala. Or at least converted me to lamb dishes over chicken. Wow. We also ordered saag paneer, which got rave reviews from my other half. It was ordered medium spicy (so, obviously, I didn't have a single bite, ha), which is standard for us. Apparently their spicy scale is a lot higher than others in the area, though, so we'll be downgrading to a "little" spicy rather than "medium" spicy next time! We also picked up an order of chana masala (chickpeas) which I erroneously thought was an appetizer, not a full entree. So we got a lot more than we bargained for :) It was also delicious! My only regret is for the first time ever ordering Indian/Nepalese, we didn't add on any naan. That would have been stellar with the chana masala (which comes with rice). Have to remember that next time, as we'll DEFINITELY be back!! read more

I seem to have long ago fond memories of this place, but maybe I am mistaken. The last couple times I went it was pretty bad. The chicken tikka masala was terrible - the meat was dry as a bone despite all the sauce. And the sauce had very little flavor. Even the naan was bad, it was way too thick. The lamb korma I got on another occasion was also bad, as the lamb was low quality and tough, although the sauce was good. The naan was bad in this case also. I am now on the lookout for another Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. read more

Good food. Huge portions. I got the chicken Biryani. Interior needs updating. Water was dripping from hall ceiling near ladies room. Service was a bit longer than average (host was server also). Tables seat 3 people comfortably (4 would be tolerable). Not a huge location. Would visit again on non-peak weekdays. read more

One of the better Indian restaurants in the area. While i have never sat in to dine, I have almost solely ordered takeout from them. Garlic naan absolute must, then I will flip a coin for the butter chicken or lamb rogan josh with the spice being nearing regretful but that's the fun in it. Chicken does occasionally come dry but sometimes that's what happens. Lamb is usually really tender and they give big portions of lamb. Still will order online for the future. And the spice level usually is within what i ask for. read more

Love getting take out from here, it never disappoints! The staff are awesome and the food is always amazing.

Wow I stopped in, ordered Chicken Masala, and Bread. I ordered the medium spice. The meal was great. Generous serving of chicken and rice. Not too hot. Perfect. Will go again. 8-20-19 stopped by having Veggie Pakora. Hmmm good, and chicken Tiki Masala read more

Pretty decent Indian buffet! Came here at the suggestion of a dear friend and she and I had a lovely lunch together. The food is pretty much what one might expect at an Indian buffet: Chicken Tikka Masala, some korma, chana masala, etc. They even had some goat, which always sounds like a good idea, but is full of bones. Added bonus: they have a lot of chutneys and pickles and also have a huge carafe of spiced tea (chai, if you must). Service is friendly but pretty hands-off. They filled our drinks and brought us naan, but otherwise we were left alone, which was kind of nice. If you're in the Fed Hill / Riverside area, this is a solid place to stop for some Indian food! read more

This is a hidden gem in the area! We came in on a Monday evening and it was very quiet with a nice atmosphere. The service was fast and the food was delicious. A small restaurant with a cozy feel...but u have a feeling most of their orders are for carry out! It was empty on a weekday. Had the chicken tikka. Apparently the Medium spiciness level barely has any spiciness! next Time will ask for extra spice! Chicken biryani is fabulous, spicy, and filling. Service was great. Overall a solid 4 stars. read more

We were looking for Indian close to Locust Point, found a hidden hem in the Shoppers strip mall. great Indian at a reasonable price. One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in a long time. Service was great, we ate in the restaurant, Vege samosa, palek paneer, sizzling lamb chops from the tandoori oven, garlic naan, gager kheer and the gulab jammon were all cooked to perfection. We will be going back, give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Chicken tikka masala was truly heinous. The only flavor was sweet. I wouldn't be surprised if the radioactive orange red color is 100% food dye. Lamb vindaloo meat was very tough and chewy. Garlic naan was flavorless, tough and stale. One of the worst meals I've ever had. Definitely the worst Indian food I've ever had. Stay away. read more

It clean and put together inside and plenty of parking in the shopping center. They are professional and timely with food orders and picking up the phone. The prices are reasonable. I recently got their lunch deal of 10.99 for a while Tikka Masala dish and they did not skimp at all. I got about 8 to 10 pieces of chicken, more than enough Naan and fresh rice. It was all still hot even 20min after pick up. Unfortunately it falls flat with the actual food.I have gotten the mango lassi twice and it just isn't quite what I've had at other places. I got the Tikka Masala dish hot and it was not spicy at all. It also tasted sweeter than expected and the chicken was on the drier side. I did not enjoy the sauce and spices flavor and I did not look forward to even finishing the dish. read more

Been getting Indian delivery from here aince 2012. It is my go to dor Indian. I have tried many items on the menu. I don't eat meat but that isn't an issue because there are so many options. My go to order- veggie samosas, garlic or kashmiri naan and shrimp biryani. If you order delivery from them directly you can get a 10% discount. The shrimp in the biryani are very big too! They will also throw in a complimentary rice pudding from time to time. Sooo delicious and usually lasts at least 2 meals because portions are huge! There is a reason thhis has been my go- to Indian food choice for 8 years. read more

I always order for delivery or pick-up here. The delivery guy is ALWAYS nice! The food is SO GOOD!! I always get the veggie things like Mixed Vegetable Curry, Mixed Vegetable Pasanda, Malai Kofta, etc - all of which are BANGIN! I love how you can customize level of spicy from mild to extra spicy (which is RIDICULOUSLY spicy)! I only wish they had vegan options for those delicious creamy dishes for those of us with lactose intolerance :) read more

Delicious food and wonderful service. Went on a Saturday around 7 as well! I got the samosas and chicken tikka masala. 10/10!

Fantastic food! Went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find a buffet, hot and fresh. Not just food but also chai to serve yourself. Everything was incredibly well prepared and flavorful. Looked great, tasted great! Goat curry, paneer, shrimp, naan, as well as vegetable options and FOUR chutneys! My only complaint is that I'm not from the area so I can't keep going back. read more

a quiet, but pleasant experience. i am not sure if it is due to pandemic times, but there was only one other couple here for dinner. i know that they do a lot of take out though. the service was attentive and lovely. the entrees come with so much food. Awesome!!! The food is excellent, service is superior and it is close to home! I will be dining here/getting carryout often!

This place just opened, and I guess it is the 2nd branch of the one in Mt Vernon. I have never been to that one, so I can only comment on this one. This is the best Indian food I have had. I went for the lunch buffet the other day, and couldn't stop eating. All of the food was cooked perfectly, they had a good selection. The chef told me they change it up everyday. My brother and friend were raving about the tea and coffee too (I didn't have any). Fed Hill has been missing a great Indian place, and this one is in the reviving shopping center with the Shopper's. If you want great Indian food, you should definitely give this place a try. It will make you a regular quickly! read more

I've been to Kumari more than what I would like to admit. I am always a big fun of Indian food and appreciate the variety that a nice buffet offers. The establishment is rather quiet compared with other Indian places in the city, even during the busiest hours. Service is friendly and attentive. Once or twice they might stop collecting the plates after 1 or 2 rounds but once noticed they will help right away. Food is always the highlight. Traditional Indian flavor profile with slight twists to please the American palate a little more (sweeter and less spicy). Chicken Tikka Masala is the creamiest ive ever had. Love the goat dish as always. And my favorite is a shrimp dish cooked with mushroom and broccoli. Perfect balance between the spiciness, sweets and acidity. Just remember to drink enough water after the meal. read more

Great food! Wasn't the best atmosphere for a dine-in experience but will definitely order carry-out next time. Loved the butter chicken especially. Kudos! I'm a fan. Is Tikka Masala supposed to be incredibly sweet? I didn't want to give this a bad star rating for trying this place for the first time, but I do not recall Tilkka Masala ever being this sweet, it may be worth discussing with whoever was cooking this evening...I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and my husband ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and both were VERY sweet to the point where we couldn't eat either. read more

Got delivery, so this review is solely on the food... which I can't say I was impressed with. The Chana Masala was quite salty and kinda just a mush of things, rather than what I expect which is supposed to be a light dish that should compliment the main course. The Pakora was also very bland and over-fried, which I was really disappointed in because those are typically my favorite appetizer. On the up-side, Chicken Tiki Masala and Garlic Naan were good... and delivery was free. So overall... okay for a quick and cheap fix of Indian-ish food... but probably would not order again. read more
