I ended up here on recommendations for local. It didn't strike me as obvious a restaurant on the ground level of this large building in Fells would produce quality Indian food, but it certainly did. I noted with some amusement that they sent new staff to serve me, and I figure that's fine, I'm closing in on 5000 Yelp reviews, I'm a veteran at this. I ordered slightly unconventionally, getting a spread of dumplings and a side of dal with some bread. The momos were delightful in texture. They way the were served with sauce in between them rather than on the side was a little unconventional, but the end result worked well. My dal was richly flavored, with a fresh tadka clearly evident on top. The bread wasn't quite enough to mop up the whole thing, but I don't mind just eating straight lentils from time to time with a spoon, so ultimately this meal was a winner. This is a very enjoyable place to grab Indian food. It is right in between Fells and Harbor East, next to the Caroline Street parking garage. It is the kind of place that you can smell tempting you from about a block away. Almost everything we had was amazing. The naan was filled with sauteed onions and I could have eaten the entire basket. The biryani dishes come in your own personal Le Creuset Dutch oven and are truly the size of a family meal. The mirch malai tikka is basically a deconstructed chicken tikka masala. It was excellent. The chicken was grilled with crispy edges and the sauce was complex and decadent. We also tried the goat curry, which was rich and delightful. Sadly, the plan rice that came with the meals was terrible. Like, it felt musty, almost? It did not smell or taste right and we did not eat it. Our waiter was great, attentive but no hovering, and was helpful with choosing the right spice level. Overall, a very good meal. read more

Harbor Tandoor is a good spot if you are craving Indian food although some dishes were definitely stronger than others. The mango martini ($12) was good. It had vodka, Prosecco, mango, and passionfruit puree. It had a nice balance of sweetness and tartness, though it was not particularly sparkling from the Prosecco. The paneer chili ($9) was decent but not quite what I expected. The paneer was tossed with garlic, tomato based sauce, peppers, and onions, but it was softer and less crispy than I was hoping for. The veg jhol momo ($18) was interesting.... The menu mentions a Szechuan pepper based soup, but I did not get any Szechuan pepper flavor at all. Instead, the broth had a creamy, almost tahini-like taste. The momos themselves were fine, but the broth was not what I was expecting. The mixed veg jalfrezi ($16) was okay. It had a good amount of mixed vegetables in a tomato based sauce with green chilies, ginger, and onions. We ordered it very spicy but it came out sweeter than I preferred. The Goan fish curry ($19) was excellent. The tilapia was tender and the tomato coconut curry was flavorful, rich, and comforting. It had a nice balance of spice and creaminess. The garlic naan ($4) was soft, fluffy, and had a good amount of garlic and herbs. The beers were good too. The Taj Mahal lager was light and easy to drink, while the Haywards 5000 had a stronger, maltier flavor. Overall, service was good. Our server, Aro, was attentive. They have an outdoor seating area. Ambiance was upscale without the prices. They are located by a parking garage but there is also street parking available as well. read more

I stopped by here for an early dinner. Great location, walking distance to the docks. I sat outside since the weather was nice. I ordered a watermelon mule (very good and refreshing). I also ordered samosas (they were kind of dry in my opinion) but the sauce was so good! And for my entree I got the Rogan Josh with garlic butter naan. WOW! You guys were right. This has been on my list for a while after some other Yelpers recommended it and it did not disappoint. Food came out FAST, like 45 min for our whole meal. We got the Kale Chaat, amazing, still talking about it. Crispy kale, yogurt w/ mint, sweet and savory and crispy. Omg, you gotta get it, I want it again already! For dinner I got the chicken dumplings (momo) and my husband got the tandoori chicken. It was actually too much food! The momo was delish but the tandoori chicken was the star entree for sure. It came with a side of masala sauce which was so tasty to dip in. Everything was actually pretty reasonably priced as well. My only complaint is that it was freezing inside - lots of guests wore their coats! They had a ton of to go orders ready - I'd definitely do that in the future, but it is nice inside! Amazing Indian food with a classy/cozy vibe and attentive service. Made a reservation for the 4th of July and had a great time! We ordered a blueberry margarita and a virgin pina colada, which was frozen to our delight. We tried the samosas which were pretty spicy but the flavor was incredible. We also shared some butter chicken, which was enough for me and my friend to have one heaping serving, as well as more to take home as leftovers. It was pretty warm in the restaurant (because Baltimore was going through a huge heatwave), but they had a fan pointed directly at us, which helped a bit. The music, fan, and general noise from the kitchen made the restaurant pretty loud, I felt like I had to speak up for my friend to hear me even though we were sitting right next to each other. Overall, the price was great for the amount of food we got, vibes were cozy during a huge thunderstorm, and service was very friendly. I will definitely be back! read more

Chicken steam Momo- never had it before but LOVED IT! They recommended it so I went for it! Vindaloo chicken - a tad spicer than I asked but hey can't get everything de-spiced and still keep that flavor- and yes VERY flavorful! Garlic naan- never a bad choice and this one was spot on! This was walking distance from our hotel and we decided to check it out for dinner one night. We were trying to gauge spice levels and also quality of food. We asked for medium spice but both dishes were very mild and both curries tasted the same. Very disappointing in the taste. The rice came with and naan was good. I would say it's good to eat if you want Indian food, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try and get this. Of course, this is also takeout rather than sitting in the restaurant. And the restaurant was packed, so I figure maybe dining in experience with freshly served food would be better. Harbor Tandoor seems to be dependent on your waiter. Today was a poor meal. I asked for spicy curry chicken, no spice to be found. The rice was cold, and the garlic naan was room temperature. This meal was for someone else and they just put it together for my benefit. The chicken was hot but if you want a hot meal, go at a different time. On any other day, this would've been a better experience. Maybe on Mondays they take a day off on paying attention and serving hot meals. I think this is the best Indian restaurant in the city, and my Indian friends recommend this place to me as well. I can't believe I have never posted a review for this place. I've been getting Harbour tandoor since about 2023. I've only ever gotten takeout and delivery from them never sat inside, until today! it's a cute interior. It is located right on Caroline Street and Whole Foods so it's convenient. I love getting takeout from them, especially in the winter. Dining in was an experience that was totally different. Their takeout is excellent and the service has always been phenomenal but dining in on a Monday. We happen to go the day that the temperature dropped about 30° and it was the busiest I had ever seen it. I'm a big fan of their curries, and today I tried the goat curry because the waiter recommended it to me. I thought the spice level could've been a little bit more spicy but I did order medium and they're non-just hit right but honestly the star of the show here is the dahi Puri. I've had it takeout and the assembly at home is a different experience. It's best eaten fresh! The cruise is also come in this really amazing cute ladle pot and it just makes an experience really delightful. My friend has gotten catering from them and has raved about the service. Honestly, we are so lucky that we have this amazing Indian restaurant in the city. It's not Michelin level, but it's a nice slightly elevated family owned business. I ordered Butter Chicken (mild) and garlic naan because I'm trying to find my go-to Indian spot since moving here. Unfortunately, there was a chalkiness to the chicken that I couldn't understand the reasoning behind it and when comparing it to the my go to spot back home it was kind of underwhelming. This was a really good Nepalese spot. We enjoyed sharing the pot of masala, and the goat curry came in a very large portion. The saag paneer was really good too - very flavorful and generous with the paneer pieces. It was on the more expensive size, but the portions were really big. I am happy I found this place in Baltimore, to complement my culinaristic experiences during my travel covering now tasty tandoori lamb. The service was excellent and timely. The place is relatively small so I realized it was a good strategy to reserve table beforehand. The chef's special, "farm to table" lamb curry was absolutely fantastic and it had special touch compared to some of the typical offering in Indian themed restaurants; with bones giving that extra flavor, it was tender and flavorful. I also ordered garlic naan, which was thin with flavoful, soft as cloud, with crispy touch; perfect to accompany with the main dish. The lassi was also great. I can't believe I forgot to review Harbor Tandoor-- I've been talking about it for two weeks! We came on my birthday and while they had been experiencing freezer issues because of a blackout, the dishes we were recommended were excellent! Our server recommended the chaat, which was a pretty cool fried kale take on the dish! He was excellent when providing recommendations; he also recommended the chicken tikka, because my husband likes things spicy-- he said it was some of the best chicken he had ever had! The naan was incredible; it was very clear they had a legit tandoor in the back and had just churned it out, because it was SO fresh and absolutely incredible. I had the paneer-- I'm 90% sure it was mughlai but I forget to be completely honest. It was also great and so pretty. I saw another review mentioned the rice was off, and this wasn't our experience; it had been clearly cooked with spices, but wasn't musty or anything. The restaurant itself was also cute, with enough space for a much larger party near us and tables that are outdoors as well. This is definitely going to be our go-to restaurant in the future! read more

What a find! Definitely make a reservation as the place was packed on a Friday night. we called in to make a reservation. They were very accommodating and had our table ready when we arrived. Our server was attentive and helped us decide on some of the items. We started with the chicken steamed Momo. These dumplings were perfectly steamed sitting on a bed of and out of this world sauce! My daughter had the butter chicken, and I had the chicken tiki masala. Both were full of flavor and the rice had bits of dried garlic on top. We also ordered the garlic naan and couldn't decide who was going to take the leftovers home with them. I lost! The feel of the restaurant was fun, the servers were hustling and they had nonstop to go orders, heading out the door. The ambiance is okay - nothing spectacular. The food was just okay. I was expecting better, based on the reviews. We had the curry chicken, butter chicken, naan, and dumplings. For drinks, Saga Rye Old Fashioned (small portion for the price) and red wine. Our server did not clearly understand the requested spice level. As a result, one of the dishes was too spicy to enjoy. He basically stated that we should order a different spice level the next time. There will be no next time. One and done. But overall, not a bad experience. I went to Harbor Tandor for a friend's birthday. There were 7 of us and we were treated like queens. We started off with a few drinks and appetizers. I love Gin & Tonics but the addition of cucumber and mint. Everyone else's drinks were also wonderful. Now to the appetizers. Not pictured are the vegetable dumplings that were topped with an amazing sauce that was poured hot at the table. We also had Dahi Poori, an Indian street food. I had never had it, but it was an amazing one bite of magic. Commit to popping the whole ball in your mouth, trust me. And the garlic Naan was the chef's kiss. For dinner, everyone's meals looked great. I ordered my baseline Indian meal, Chicken Tikka Marsala. The dish was meaty. And the sauce was perfectly balanced. But when I go back and I will, I'm going to get the shrimp tandoor. That came out looking and sounding like Indian fajitas. You know the sound. Because it was my friend's birthday we were brought dessert and the staff sang. The whole place was a wonderful experience. The staff was the nicest. The restaurant was cozy. I arrived ready to have a good meal based on reviews. There was a family with a toddler throwing silverware, screaming and the five adults could not manage her temper. The atmosphere was just not a good one for enjoying a meal. I changed my order to go. After arriving back at my car, opened the package and the food was burned "significantly". I had to drive back to the restaurant and returned everything -- never again! The food should never have been served to anyone! Very poor management!! read more

Great ambiance, there was enough seating available when we went around 3pm on a Saturday. Excellent service and friendly welcoming staff who gave great suggestions from the menu based on what we were looking for. The drinks are unique and we thoroughly enjoyed the mango martini, the watermelon Moscow mule and the tandoor gin. The food is all carefully prepared beautifully garnished and delicious! we enjoyed the samosa chaat as an appetizer and the pomegranate seeds were an excellent touch.
