Put this on then noticed bed slats were also sold separately $50. Totaling $368. For just the bed frame. If someone was there to inform me I may have been more ready for this expense. I have never been so disappointed in Customer Service. I was scheduled to have a sofa and a chair delivered to my new house (a house that has no furniture) on Sunday. I was given a 12 hour window (9am-9pm!). Despite that being ridiculous, I stayed home all day waiting. At 8pm, I received a text that my furniture would arrive between 8:30-8:53pm. At 9:15pm, I received a text that it wouldn't be delivered at all and with no further details. I called the next morning, only to be given no explanation as to why it wasn't delivered as scheduled and then told that it would not be delivered until Wednesday. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told they would deliver it on Tuesday. I then learned in an email that they had scheduled it for a WEEK from Tuesday. When I called back, they stated there was nothing they could do because they had other deliveries scheduled. When I stated that good business would be to place my order near the front of the queue given that it was already two days late in being delivered, the agent sounded like she didn't even understand what I was asking. In the grand scheme of life, this is no big deal but I think it's worth a "yelp". What awful customer service and delivery service. read more

This location seems to be consistently overwhelmed with the number of customers leading to long lines and the competence of the employees is inconsistent. On one visit, employees (including security) stood by and did nothing as a man and his wife verbally abused me in line for checkout after the husband was very offended that I kept my same spot in line ahead of him when our line shifted from a register that announced it was closing to an open register. Staff did nothing as customers in line repeatedly glanced over their shoulders as this man aggressively asked for my full name, threatened to sue me, pretended he was going to call the police and got up in my face continuously ranting and yelling at me and his wife began personally insulting me, my upbringing and my family as I stood there taken aback, not knowing how to react without risking escalating the abuse into a potentially dangerous situation. The wife also verbally abused my husband. I don't know if this incident was allowed to occur uninterrupted at least in part due to inadequate training/incompetence or staffing issues but this location appears to be consistently understaffed (since years before COVID-19). Their "procedure" for exchanges, even on small items, is for you to wait through the full customer service line with the item(s) being returned and then wait through the full checkout line to purchase item(s) in a separate transaction. If you have items from the sales floor, you will have to wait through checkout, wait at customer service and then wait through checkout again. This is not a good business practice as it is incredibly inefficient and counter-intuitive. Maybe it exists to discourage exchanges/returns? The customer service counter is also frequently understaffed with a long, slow-moving line. Staff were rude and short/condescending and implied that we were trying to leave without patinf when we did not innately understand this unique exchange process before it was explained (a process I have never experienced at any other store, only IKEA). They also had no staff at all working the food area so guess what they suggested? Yet another trip back through the full checkout line to purchase any food items, of course--in a separate transaction, because heading over to the food area with unpaid merchandise is not allowed. They expected us to wait through four full lines just to complete an exchange including the purchase of small items from the sales floor and food items. Also, IKEA is a very questionable institution. It is worth researching their direct impact on ancient forests which they knowingly turn a blind eye to their financial support of corrupt lumber companies to deforest for inexpensive mass-produced furniture, their founder's questionable history from intentionally avoiding taxes from 1973-2015 (source: Forbes) to his involvement in the Nazi party, IKEA's Malm tip overs which injure many children each year and have tragically even killed multiple children, and forcing their way into communities who explicitly do not want them there. You're better off supporting nearly any other business based on lines/wait times, customer service and business practices/ethics. read more

I wanted a bookcase, and the shipping was more than the piece due to the weight. So I decided to go. What a mistake! We were trapped inside for forever! There were signs marked to exit if you wanted to take a shortcuts--but I can't imagine how long it would have been if we had gone the "long" way. Every time you turn the corner, thinking you are out, it's another room of cheap merchandise. Not a single sales clerk to help you! Then, when I finally got out to the checkout, the lines were so long you'd have thought you were trying to get in to the Indy 500. Finally the staff appears, to give you one half-inch cookie with a pair of tongs so you don't faint in line. Why don't they let you order and pick up at the store so you don't have to go in? They botched two deliveries, leaving the boxes on her doorstep instead of arriving when they were supposed to and taking them up to the second floor. This Ikea is okay. The food is great! I love the swedish meatballs. The salmon balls were okay, kind of dry. I'd stick with the meatballs. Service in this Ikea is really good, the employees were super helpful. We bought a shelf from this Ikea, and almost an hour later when we got home and we're building it, there were a few dents in the shelf already, and the holes and screws didn't match up. The holes in the wood weren't big enough to fit the wood pieces or some of the metal screws. That was super frustrating. There are some gaps between the connecting pieces of wood now. But we made it work because we didn't want to make another trip back. read more

We ended up getting a great bed and mattress from here and it's very comfortable, but it wasn't our first choice. The bed frame we wanted was listed in-stock, but that was not true. In addition, we waited for over an hour after checking out for our mattress to be brought to the furniture pick-up area (it's not an item you can grab yourself). The waiting area was an absolute mess & many people had the same experience of waiting for an hour after being told it would only take 15 minutes. When we ordered bookshelves from here we decided to order delivery to rectify this issue, but we had almost as bad an experience. The delivery driver called to say they had arrived and then called back to say they couldn't find the building/apartment (and was pretty rude about it). Yes there are some obviously disgruntled employees working here but I've also been helped by some really efficient and nice people in the cafe and marketplace. The cafe could use more cleaning up in the condiments and fountain drinks area but generally the whole store is clean and tidy. Which is saying a lot considering how ginormous the place is. My favorite IKEA items are: Cinnamon buns. They ARE fluffy, fragrant, warm, oozy, and delicious. POANG chair. Not only is this a super stylish recliner, it's bloody light and comfortable to sit in for long periods of time with laptop. And OMG awesome live plant selection: Succulents and Cacti!!! Ahhhh! Big bonus is no insects, no creepy crawlies, no rotting plants. I went back after a month and I saw some damaged plants like mini trees with their roots ripped out (why would anyone do that!!) but still tidy enough and again, clean. The image on the menu had 3 pieces of parsley. I asked the cachier to reduce the price since I did not get parsley. He said he cannot. After a long discussion the cashier went to kitchen and after a long time came out with my parsley. My food got cold. Nobody apologized. 099 / 100 - 2018 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. IKEA: land of affordable, DIY furniture. Moved across the country and needed some basic furniture to make my apartment less like a crack den. It seems like this IKEA is the only one in the Boston area, so I made the trek on a beautiful Saturday morning. I got here before they opened (I just wanted to get in and out!), but it looks like a lot of other people had the same idea that I did. They have a giant parking garage, which is great. I was more than happy to park a bit away so I wouldn't have to deal with the inevitable pedestrian traffic on the way out. Layout is exactly the same as every other IKEA. This location is pretty clean and put together, which is great. They let us in early to start looking at the different rooms, but didn't let us downstairs (where the REAL stuff was at) until the store officially opened. I was able to zip through with no problems as I had written down the furniture I was looking for beforehand. I went straight to the end to start picking out my furniture. I kind of wish I had brought a second person along because it was... really heavy and I really regretted all those days I decided to NOT pick up lifting/going to the gym, but I managed to do it in the end. IKEA employees were super friendly and incredibly helpful! They were more than happy to point me in the right direction for things I was looking for or answering any questions that I had. read more

To put it simply, this Ikea is terrible. You will walk around and see that half of the items shown on the sale floor have "temporarily unavailable" signs taped to them. This would be understandable due to the pandemic and high demand, but these items have been out since before the Covid shutdown! I have been constantly checking this Ikeas inventory for almost a year and a half and nothing! Funny thing is, all I am looking for is a desk top and a dresser; two very common items especially at Ikea of all places. About 8 months back I looked at Ikeas webpage on unavailability FAQ and they stated that as the factories were reopening, the Ikeas would receive restocks--apparently not the one in Massachusetts. I can see online that the Ikeas in NY and CT are constantly selling out and restocking the EXACT products I have been looking for! However, I refuse to make a road trip of 4+hrs for $250 worth of furniture from Ikea. Icing on the cake is that they cannot even offer delivery for these products and if they could, it would be a $100 delivery cost...unreal. If there was a curbside pick up option (like offered at other locations) it would be so much better. And don't even get me started on those lines... I have no idea what is going on with the Ikea in Massachusetts, but I hope they figure it out soon. read more

I love this place, no joke. That said, I am pretty good about getting done what I need to get done and otherwise making it a fun experience. I always take the kids and try to go early so we can eat the delicious and affordable breakfast - free coffee in the a.m. if you're an Ikea family member! And the coffee is good! Then, the kids and I wander through the various display rooms and pretend we're visiting friends. We give them names and talk about what they're like and its pretty fun. The rooms are interesting, the atmosphere is perfectly pleasant if you're not anxiously making decisions about major home purchases, and the bathrooms are always clean and stocked (although they could really benefit from paper towel options). When I say stocked, they even have free diapers. After we've killed some time in the rooms, we'll eat a delicious and affordable lunch (Pepsi products. Boo) and then go down to the marketplace where, to be honest, shit gets real. This is where I long to convince my kids to go to Smallaand but they refuse. Let's just say if you lose your kid in Ikea it is a pretty easy recovery. The shoppers are too distracted and stressed out to notice and even though you can rarely find an employee when you have a question, they're RIGHTTHERE when you lose a child. We're talking 2 minutes from noticing he wasn't playing with one of the little toy things conveniently located everywhere to having him back by my side (granted, he hadn't wandered all that far, just followed those light up arrows until he was well beyond my sight). They're perfect for a super cold or super hot day if you don't feel like paying for a museum, and there is ALWAYS something you need to buy at Ikea. I love their stuff, even their markers and plants and candles are awesome, and customer service has always worked well for me. Delivery of large furniture has also been a snap! I ordered a $269 Skarsta Standing desk online to be delivered from the Stoughton, MA store. Two weeks went by and the delivery date accurate. The truck arrived, but only delivered the frame/legs to my standing desk without the top. The driver told me over the phone, "the tabletop was not provided in the delivery and to contact the store." I've tried calling the store MANY times to get this resolved and it's nearly impossible to get help on this issue without waiting over an hour to get in touch with someone before finding out they can't help because their User Interface errors out or can't make corrections. It's now the fourth day where I'm still trying to find out how I can get the rest of my $269 desk. I will NOT be shopping here from now on and will recommend NOT purchasing ANYTHING online with expected delivery as you most likely will receive your order in parts! This place is always daunting, and I leave wanting to take a nap... but you literally cannot beat the prices. Even though it's inexpensive, the furniture is pretty durable and doesn't fall apart. I've been shopping here for ~10 years and everything is still in good working order. Today was the first day I used the app... do it!!! It saves you so much time if you know what you're intending to buy, it will tell you 1) the bin and aisle and 2) if it's in stock ahead of time. It also is neater and more organized than fumbling with one of those stupid golf pencils and a piece of paper. I'm heading home with an SUV full of tons of stuff and very pleased. The only downer was when a disgruntled lady at the checkout actually crashed her cart into mine so that she could cut to a better place in line. On the supposed delivery day, nobody shows up. After calling IKEA, you learn that this make-up delivery was somehow cancelled and need to be rescheduled! Went down to warehouse to get items and was very disappointed to find there were no items in stock. Nothing. I'd be more understanding if there were signs in the showroom that stated the items were out of stock. Table top nope. Nightstand nope. Let's move up in price point. More expensive table top nope. More expensive nightstand nope. Let's try different colors. Nope nope and nope. For my own entertainment, checked mattresses. Cheap ones nope. Medium in price ones nope. Expensive ones nope. Luxury limited quantities. But guess what? They have boxes upon boxes of table legs. Helpful. And this was on a Sunday morning. God forbid you dare to come on a peak moving weekend in the afternoon. Every time I find something I like, it's not in stock. What's even more frustrating is a lot of items are not available for home delivery. So basically, find something you love, see the pretty display, and then leave empty-handed and no delivery available. Pretty terrible experience if you ask me. I don't get the thrill that so many people seem to have for shopping at Ikea. The frenzy that existed when this store opened..the first in Massachusetts... made me wonder what treasures I would find in there. The trouble was, the crowds were so huge with cars snaking out onto the highway from the exit ramp, that I didn't get there for months. Now I've been to this store on a few occasions and other than a couple of lamps I purchased for my office, a bathroom mirror and a few other incidentals, I haven't been otherwise tempted. Yes, things are inexpensive which may be a draw, but mostly I find the offerings to be cheaply made. And honestly, I don't want to put any furniture together myself. On this most recent visit, we were in the area and stopped because I thought it couldn't hurt to see if I could find a small end table for a spare bedroom. We looked at a few things and found that they were made so shoddily that regardless of low price point, we had to pass. I did buy a few packs of paper napkins because the ones Ikea sells always come in bright fun colors and patterns. And I bought a bag of tea lights. Other than that I was underwhelmed. I can see the appeal in some of the kitchenware, dishes and glasses. Sometimes having extra sets of plates and wine glasses that are pretty but not precious is the perfect thing to have on hand for big get-togethers and parties. Don't be misled here thinking your goods are made somewhere in Sweden. Many things are made in China and while the design sensibility may be Scandinavian, the craftsmanship isn't. The store itself is massive and yet despite all the space, I've never been there when it wasn't positively jammed with wall to wall people, strollers, shopping carts...it can be a nightmare of sensory overload. Having grown up in Sweden IKEA (pronounced ick-eeah by Swedes) has always been a staple for furniture needs. Growing up as a kid I had an IKEA bunk bed, and of course BILLY, the bookshelf. Essentially, IKEA is a furniture store that strives to sell trendy and space saving furniture for a lot less than other furniture stores. They do this by having you walk through their showrooms, note down the part names (every piece of furniture and decorative item has its own name, most of them funny if you know Swedish, like the desk lamp named "MORKER" which means darkness in Swedish) and their warehouse locations on a little slip of paper (reminiscent of the paper slips you get when eating dim sum). You then proceed to the warehouse where you get your furniture boxes from the shelf locations yourself, and proceed to the checkout. The furniture is of the "assemble yourself" variety and despite many jokes in Swedish literature about needing 8 arms, and 12 missing parts to assemble it, it is usually surprisingly easy to assemble, with all the hardware, (and even monkey wrenches) you need right in the box. The above explanation applies to IKEA in Sweden. Here in the U.S. it needs a few more lines. IKEA seem to have used their Swedish heritage as their marketing strategy in the U.S. This is evident in everything from the IKEA logo (blue and yellow in the U.S. mimicking the Swedish flag) to the food they serve in the cafeteria as well as little signs explaining words in Swedish dispersed about the store (Like the "Hej da!" sign near the exit, with the explanation that this means goodbye in Swedish. This may seem a little bit cheesy, but to people who grew up in Sweden like myself it is a treasure trove. For very little money in the cafeteria I can enjoy Swedish foods I haven't eaten since I left Sweden almost 10 years ago. They even have a mini food section stocked with Swedish cookies, meatballs, herring, salmon and many other Swedish foods you can bring home and cook yourself. I happen to have been in nostalgic paradise, but this could be a fun experience even for non-Swedes as experimenting with other cultures foods is always a blast. Now for the scary part. Purchased items were excellent for their prices. 5/5 The store is huge and poorly organized, and finding anything is a quest. 3/5 Our queue to a cashier was about 15 minutes, and this was an express line (for less than 10 items). 2/5 A delivery team failed to call us on the previous day to schedule delivery. 4/5 The parts were not labeled (even Walmart supplier do this!), the instructions were poorly drawn and printed, assembling involved lots of decyphering, guessing, and confusions. 2/5 read more

I've been visiting many of these stores around the globe and they always look pretty much the same inside and outside. One thing that I used to appreciate visiting Ikea stores it has been how clean and well kept they looked. I can't say it for my local IKEA store here in Stoughton. Since they opened the upper level parking lot, I find convenient to use it because it's closer to the entrance/exit of the store. Although the scene out there is unbelievable disgusting. Trash everywhere sitting around cart cages and close by the main building. The place from up here looks abandoned and you don't see attendance around ever. This is so wrong! I can't believe that IKEA corporation actually knows what is going on in this particular store. The local management should really be retrained. This is not ikea standard. Pity read more

It's Ikea......we've all been here and been put into the herd to take the mile walk around the store gawking and trying to figure out what we want to buy or buying way too much. Tips to make your trip more pleasant: 1. Know or have an idea of what you're there for. Have areas you are buying for measured and possibly pictures so you can see how pieces will look there. 2. Get to the store 1/2 hour before the store actually opens. The cafe' is open and then you can look at map, catalog, and some of the pre-designed rooms all while drinking coffee or having some breakfast. (Also you can park super close to the door and exit.) 3. When the store opens....GO! Head toward what you want without the crowds. 4. Make sure that you check quickly the returns area....sometimes you can find an amazing deal. 5. Be an Ikea Family member....saves on a lot of collections. 6. Bring bags with you....they don't have any. (Unless you buy more of theirs.) And when you return home the work really begins....ready, set, assemble! read more
