REPEAT offender of incomplete or COMPLETELY MISSING furniture hardware. Came back from taking the hour-long trip there to discover our KALLAX had ZERO HARDWARE in the box. Last time, not too long ago, it was the EXPEDIT that had missing pieces. IKEA-induced rage flashbacks returned. We ended up calling customer service yet again to report this. This is likely a common occurrence, because they often offer to send the missing pieces free of charge. But it'll at least take a week to get to you. IKEA, if you mess up like this, the LEAST you can offer to do is ship the missing hardware (small bits anyway) NEXT DAY for FREE. But they never do. So here we are, spending two entire extra hours on the road just to pick up a few tiny metal bits. This is the only IKEA in the area, so it's unlikely they'll change for the better. If we don't drive back out, we'll have the deconstructed shelf lying around for 5-7 business days (what they say it'll take to get to us) while waiting for the missing hardware, and a mountain of clothing in place of a shelf to house them. My all-time favorite home decor store. I love the setup of the showrooms being upstairs and the warehouse downstairs. I like how you can go through the showrooms and get ideas for home decor. It's also cool how the items found in the showrooms have the price and bin/aisle number so you know where to get it in the warehouse if you want to buy it. Prices are also reasonable. Love it! If you want the most frustrating experience possible trying to buy furniture just go to ikea. The website is not accurate and not clear in availability, location, or even the damn checkout! It says I am in Tempe Arizona even thought I clicked on visit website from the Stoughton, MA location and there's no way to change your location I could find. Also, their "easy" click and pick up service doesn't work because it only offers Florida or Michigan towns. Basically, website is broken and there's no way to speak to a real person. I wish I would've read the reviews BEFORE ordering my new kitchen, such a disappointment... I got the whole shebang from starters: paid for the planning, installation, got the appliances and yet! First, looong waiting for scheduling the installation of the cabinets - three weeks. I said: fine, we need to prepare the room anyways, clean the walls, get rid of old stuff. When the date arrived I've been told that they can't get the job done because the measurements are wrong. How come?? It's been done in the store, by a "professional", on the computer! And yet! So, the contractor company who works with IKEA, are taking pity on us and assure us they'll make it work. It turned out great job, well done, but after a few days of work, going back and forth with changing the cabinets and returning appliances, buying new ones - such a headache and two long months without a kitchen, having had to order our food all this time. Two weeks later, the countertop installers, another contractor company, finally finish the job but we're still working on the kitchen, building custom shelving, adding panels, organizers and small cabinets, to fill in the space left by bad planning. The cabinets are great, generous space inside, good quality and good looking, but, from start to finish, headache all over and worries, plus the finished product (not finished yet) turned out so different than planned. Be prepared to have extra money on the side, just in case... We had to buy new, smaller dishwasher, new ventilation system, new microwave, not sure what to do with the (two years only) "old" ones, still in my basement. Horrendous returning process, 50 minutes wait with only TWO customers in line, in front of us, manager didn't care, slow poke dragging feet on the floors kept saying "sorry for the wait, folks", when obviously, nothing happened to expedite the process. I take their concept for granted, having lived near one for much of my life, but their stuff simply works. There's a reason you'll find IKEA stuff everywhere you look, from apartments to businesses, and once you shop their solutions at the mid-level price tier, you're really getting decent stuff...especially for the more disposable side of society. If you're not looking for furniture to pass down for generations, IKEA is perfect for you. This store and Ikea is awful. I purchased a couch which we discovered did not fit in my car and I purchased home delivery. I paid for home delivery to arrive 9/23, one week ago. Ikea's website still shows 9/23 as the delivery date but the item has not arrived. The website does not update the reason it has not shipped and I was forced to call in to support. I waited on hold for an hour only to be disconnected by the agent I was speaking with. I am now forced to waste another hour of my time if I even hope to receive and update for the delay. This is the worst customer service experience I could possibly have. The lack of communication and inability to contact someone who can provide any update as to the status of the shipment is beyond frustrating. I will be happy to use wayfair from now on. Ikea service and sales totally suck!! They have so little inventory so you purchase what you can in store and then wait until they get the balance of the inventory. When it shows available online you try and place an order. It may go through with shipping if there is sufficient inventory in the warehouse. If not it says available for pickup. So you try and order and it says it has a problem. Well I found out the problem is that in store they only have 4 left and when they are under a certain stock they do not allow you to place an order online for pickup even though is says you can. Calling Ikea support gets you even more flustered. I'm amazed they are still in business operating in this manner. So we are looking for some items to decorate for our wedding and we need to do it on a budget. Where do we decided to go? IKEA obviously! The store itself is like a playground for adults. It houses a ton of different departments, all decorated in different ways which makes shopping here a blast. The prices here are much less than other stores and the selection is incredible. In the end we bought a ton of decorations for our wedding for under $75. This was a steal and a half. The only issue we had was that the checkout lines were incredibly slow. It took us an hour to shop, but it took us 45 minutes to check out. This was a little crazy but then again we came on tax free weekend. I've been to this IKEA several times for various moves and back for essentials. It's so easy to get caught up on the top floor, looking at every piece of furniture. If you just need to pick up some small items like lights or recycling bins, I suggest skipping the top floor altogether, or you will spend 2 extra hours of your life getting lost. The workers there are okay, but sometimes do not know anything beyond their department. If you have specific items you would like, I suggest finding them online and emailing a list of where to find them in the store to yourself so that you can get in and out quickly. read more

This place is amazing. I came here once before a few years ago and was surprised I never left a review. Shame on me. I needed a whole new bedroom set and after shopping around places like Big Lots and JD Furniture, I found their prices to be just too high for what I was getting so I decided to go out of my way and hit up Ikea. Unfortunately I came here on a Sunday.. the Sunday BEFORE Memorial Day which was a big mistake. The lines were disgustingly long and I waited quite a while to get from the end to the front. After browsing the entire store numerous times, I was exhausted and hungry so it didn't help that the lines were so long. This place is quite large and there's so much to take in that it can't be explored on one trip. I love how they have displays up that show entire bedrooms all placed in tiny rooms. Makes it easier to envision what it would look like in my own place. Their furniture, for the price points, are solid and don't shake and wobble when I try to. Ones from Walmart and Target tend to do that a lot. As I stated before, I went to a few other places and the prices just seemed too high for me. I got a whole bedroom set here, beautiful pieces, for about 650. Any other place i saw was upwards of 1300 and that was their low priced ones. Granted you have to put it together yourself but i actually like putting furniture together. I find it to be therapeutic to do so with some music on. What I don't like it the fact that out of the three pieces I got, one was missing some screws and one had a piece that did not match the picture. The board had a curved edge while the pic showed a straight cut edge. It ended up working out and wasn't a problem because the piece was in the middle so you cant see the opening created by the curved edge so I didnt bother making a fuss about it. Maybe the structural integrity was compromised but we will see. This was the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. The highlight of my purchase were their blankets. I bought a pair for about 40 each and my God they are like hotel quality blankets.. not the cheap hotels but the really high end hotels. I've looked everywhere and could never find ones that felt like these. I am amazed at the price for them and how comfortable they were. I sleep like a child in them. Overall amazing place. Your first time, it really is overwhelming. An average IKEA store is about the size of a small airport. No kidding. With it's own covered parking garage, several stories of shopping, an overflow parking lot and a warehouse, it seems to take up several acres of land. We did enjoy browsing the rest of the store and scrounging some recession-era priced goodies though. For example, a throw for 2.99, a few plates for .79 cents, and a hot pink desk chair for Jen ($20 - you get what you pay for.) The best part of the night was dinner. Yes, IKEA even has their own cafeteria, complete with Swedish meatballs and (lucky for me) BBQ ribs! My fave. Amazingly, they were the best ribs ever, and not just because I'd walked 2 miles to get to them. They also have this awesome Lingonberry sauce and juice that is unbelievable. Jen had the meatballs, and we both had mashed potatoes with rich, buttery gravy. Delicious, cheap, and instantly available on the buffet line. If I ever go back (as I'm sure we will) it must be on a Wednesday, since that's Rib Night at the cafe. Anyone who thinks they're going to get some really high quality furniture at cheap prices is going to be sorely disappointed. With that said, if you're just needing something like a small bookcaseor table, mood lighting, some dorm furniture or home accessories, it's really a great place to look around. Don't expect to pick up any heirlooms that will last 100 years, but remember, it's not really that kind of place. Life is what you make of it, and so is a trip to IKEA. If you want to have fun, you WILL have fun. If you treat it like a toothache, that's the kind of experience you'll have. Make sure you're in a positive, well-rested and well-fed state of mind and body when you go, and yoou'll have a blast! For what it is, it's worth checking out at least once just to say you did. It's VERY LOVELY! But, I was often confused and got lost. The prices of many items actually surprised me, and I was happy with the products and displays. About half of the workers were VERY HELPFUL, where as the other half seemed SO TIRED and didn't seem to understand me. GIVE THEM SOME COFFEE and a BREAK! My one major gripe about it aside from easily getting lost (but I'll get over it) was that they don't accept EBT SNAP Foodstamps. Otherwise I would've bought a whole bad of food to try. The showroom had some really nice ideas and great ways to create more storage area. The household items were all really great priced but nothing insane that would make me want to go insane trying to come back and buy them. This place is my adult Disney! If I could be locked up here overnight I would have the best time. I'd be eating cinnamon rolls, taking naps in the beautiful bedrooms, hosting dinner parties and playing with all of the roll around furniture. We've purchased a few things from here. A bed, chair, table, stools, benches, and many odds and ends. The products stand up and have very detailed and clear instructions for assembly. We just purchased a king size bed with storage drawers. It did take some time and thought but we are so very happy with our purchase. One note is the furniture is really more of a one time set up. It can be a bit tricky to disassemble to move it and set it back up. The price is right, the quality is good. I think the only caution we have is about the lamps and electrical. The back up replacement bulbs also need to come from IKEA so get a few back ups unless you live close. If you can go during the weekday that is the best option. The weekends can be full of people and bit zooey with all kinds wandering about aimlessly (no fault of IKEA). They also have a kids area so you can sign your tots in to play while you shop. Our girls love it until they became too tall. It is by height and not age so sadly our kids sprouted too fast and were bummed when they couldn't go back. I'd really love to build a kitchen here...some day. A girl has to have dreams right? read more

I love Ikea. I turn it into a half day adventure when ever I take the drive up. I have owned my home for four years and some of my furniture has come from here including my master bedroom and guest bedroom furniture and entertainment centre in the living room. Mind you putting this stuff together I hear is a pain- my husband built it all- but it has never fallen apart or shown any crummy craftsmanship. We have had to make returns which is some what of a nightmare but we are patient people. I come here when I am in need of some decorative dinning room plate sets as well as new cups, flutes and wine glasses. I am not a huge fan of the frying pans seeing as I on occasion burn things. They have huge area rugs for a fraction of the price you might find them as another home good stores. I called IKEAs customer service the next day, and said that my wait would be 5 hours before I could talk. Well, the Ikea itself is always great. We just relocated to MA so we went to this Ikea to purchase new furniture. And we did enjoy our shopping process, as always. But the delivery service is a Nightmare! We chose home delivery because we purchased heavy items. However, after the delivery, we found that 3 boxes were damaged! Holes and cracks on wooden pieces were apparently caused by some fierce collision against sharper items. So I paid $99 delivery fee to get damaged furniture? More worse, the customer service did not respond at all. I called, but never get to talk to a representative, even though I waited on line for over 30 minutes each time; I emailed them, no one replied. I do not know what else I can do. It is too heavy so I could not take them back to the store (the reason I chose delivery service! wrong choice!) So if you still want to like Ikea, avoid their home delivery service. About this location specifically. Massive. Multiple levels, elevators oh my. larger than 3 or 4 others I've been to. People were generally friendly. Hard to always get help because this one was crowded (again more than any other I've been to). Probably the longest lines I've ever seen at a location. This location requires extra patience and a good map read. We found some good deals in the as is section. Parking garage structure and lot for larger/taller vehicles. Absolutely maddening experience. I recently ordered 4 stools, but only 3 were delivered. There is no way appropriate way to contact customer service online, or by phone. The only online topic available is "cancel order", no "other" or generic form to complete. I called customer service, and they thought the order was delivered in full. The CSR I spoke with could not help me and transferred me to the "After Sales Department", which says "due to high call volume, we cannot help you at this time". Needing a bookcase and since we were in Boston, we drove to the Ikea in Stoughton (40 minute drive in traffic, but only 19 miles distance). It was a nice drive and we got to see how Monday night traffic was for Boston commuters. The Ikea is in an area with other large big box stores (including Costco, a large furniture store called Jordan's Furniture, and Home Depot). It's a typical multi-level Ikea with all the home products, furniture, fixtures, lamps that you could ever want. It also has a food court area, so you can shop longer and buy more at Ikea. The nice thing is that over the past few years some of the Ikea products I purchased in the past have come down in price. The bookcase that I bought a few years ago was $89.99 (Expedit) and today it's $69.99. We did the self-check out and moved our car from the large covered parking lot to the self-loading area, then put the bookcase in the car, and we left for home. My sister and I like to drive to IKEA during the week, when we have a day off, and wander around. Usually one of us will have a reason - a bookshelf, a desk, a table, etc - but it's only an excuse. The real reason we're driving 45 minutes out of our way is so we can look at all the random containers of crap they have placed strategically throughout the store. And the most amazing part is that even though we fill our little blue bag (because we bought one the first time we were there) with a ton of stuff before we were even out of the first section, we still only end up spending about $50! And then we get to the market. Frankly, who doesn't need a tube of cheese and a jar of pickled fish? I love Ikea. The Stoughton store is the closest one to Providence. Many choices of furniture styles, colors, shapes. I love how they arrange things to help customers visualize how things could go together. Many settings for living rooms, apartments, kitchens, bedrooms, etc. Different lines within the IKEA line cater different price points and finishes/quality. I like that they have designers that can help if you are looking at kitchens, bedrooms, etc. Most furniture items come in boxes, which have to be assembled. For those who want to bypass that "painful" stage, you can pay for delivery and assembly. They have a great selection of household items too....like plates, cups, glasses, silverware, linen, kitchen utensils, plants (real and artificial), gadgets, shelving units, pillows, rugs, etc. Holidays and weekends are very very busy....sometimes you can not find parking and have to park way out....but if you buy heavy things, they have a loading area that is very convenient. Also, if shopping takes long hours, they have their IKEA cafe with ample choices of salads, soups, entrees, desserts, etc. Some people go nuts for their Swedish Meatball and cakes. I had the Chocolate cake and it was very creamy and moist...not a solid Chocoholic item, but more like a combination of cake/pudding/moistness..... Absolutely abysmal customer service after a major delivery/assembly error. I am in the process of moving and desperately needed a wardrobe for storage. Went to IKEA yesterday because we knew they would deliver and assemble. Paid over $400 for the wardrobe/ delivery/ assembly. Except the assembly never happened. The contracted company delivered it, but had nothing in their system for me for assembly. We spent over 2.5 hours on the phone with IKEA customer service and they could not get anyone at the store to answer the phone. Ultimately we were transferred between departments a total of six times. We lost an entire day sitting in the apartment waiting for assembly that never came and then lost 3 more hours on the phone with both IKEA and XPOLogistics trying to find a solution. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Mistakes happen. Paperwork gets mixed up. Phone lines are busy. But this was absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced. read more
