So I decided to DIY my bathroom backsplash and visited The Tile Shop for tiles. Paul set me up with everything I needed. I couldn't have completed this project without him! Paul took the time to walk me through the process and explain the tools and products I needed and how to use them. Did my backsplash turn out professionally? No. But did I have fun? Again no. Would I do this again? Absolutely not. But The Tile Shop set me up for success and I am grateful for their encouragement and expertise! It actually turned out pretty good for a first timer. Very disappointed. Walked in last night, was approached by a salesman and we asked him if they happened to have a linoleum or hybrid type of floor and he said: "No. We don't that. Linoleum only lasts 2-3 years. You're better off getting tile since that lasts up to 10." I don't know where he gets his facts but he was an idiot. That's absolutely false and if you're trying to help someone, ENCOURAGE THEM. Don't belittle what they're looking for. Even IF he's right, DO NOT JUST THROW THEIR IDEAS AWAY. IT'S OPEN SUNDAYS!! After trying to find a tile place in the Boston area that's open Sundays (I work Saturdays and my hubby works during the week) I eventually gave up all hope. On a Sunday trip to IKEA we drove right past this place and noticed some lights on ... surely not we thought ... but oh yes! After having a little look around the huge and beautiful showroom, we were approached by Paul who offered to help. I resisted at first, preferring to browse, but after a while I gave up as the selection was completely overwhelming. Paul asked a ton of questions about our remodel, the colors and styles we liked, and our budget. He then spent close to an hour showing us various options and pointing out lots of little details about installation that never would have occurred to me. He was professional, friendly, and really passionate about tile, and his dry sense of humor was wonderful. he made me feel so confident about the process, and was very kind when I asked dumbass questions (often). There was no pressure to buy, and in fact we left that day with a couple of samples, and enough info that we could order over the phone if we wanted to. I ended up making two additional trips back and purchased everything through Paul. After such awesome service I wanted to make sure he got my custom, even if I wasn't spending a ton. The tile is beautiful and they have a lot in stock. They helped me out to my car with the bits I needed to pick up myself, and everyone I dealt with was great. HIGHLY recommended, especially after visiting a number of the Watertown places that were hugely disappointing in terms of both stock and service. read more

Great selection, great service, great location right off Route 24 by Ikea. My wife and daughter started the ball rolling by getting all the stock line up there and saved a ton by ordering out of stock items and we picked it up about a week later. Then we finally found and lined up a tile guy - he had some great ideas but his plan required more stock. Even though it was a few months later The Tile Shop found a few tiles here, a few tiles there from all their other stores and shipped them direct for a minimum charge. Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended. read more

I should have reviewed this place last year when we remodeled our master bathroom... Can't say enough good things about the Tile Shop. They were easy to deal with, knowledgable and the selection is great. Way better than a big box store. It's a bit pricier, but they have sales (and honestly, you get what you pay for). We're getting ready to remodel our powder room, and this time we're considering a DIY "adventure" so I popped in again, and the salesman we worked with before, Paul, remembered me and our project. He was able to make recommendations based on our taste, the size of our bathroom, etc. Love him, love the Tile Shop. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced! We had budgeted to spend less than $100 to redo our hearth, and fell in love with some accent marble tiles recommended to us. The total came to nearly $400 after a 15% discount. We were considering paying this amount but would have had to make the hour drive from our house to come pick them up nearly a week later. Upon asking for free shipping to our house, the sales person said no. So I asked the manager just to verify. At this point, the sales guy flipped out and accused me of going over his head. He began pacing angrily. Then, the manager excused himself to discuss privately with the sales person to "get the whole story." I frankly found this insulting. When they came back after making me wait another five minutes, I expected an apology at the least but did not receive that. I was also informed I would not receive the free shipping. I walked out and will be looking for my tile at another store. Tile Shop- beautiful tile but be wary of the poor customer service if they don't make the sale. read more

Beware of the return policy, store staff gets frustrated if you purchase anything online and try to return the items back to the store. The tiles shipped were not the tiles ordered, store staff point the finger to "Regional Managers" that are not available to speak with customers!! Very disappointing way to run a business! read more

We can't say enough about The Tile Shop, especially Kevan, the store manager. We went in one night to try to get some ideas to redo our fireplace. The selection was AMAZING, but the service was what really stood out. Kevan took time to talk to us about what was existing, what we were going for (which we had NO idea or direction in), and showed us tons of options. He moved around the store putting different things together for us and helping us work through the process. He told us to go home and tape off what we were thinking to be sure it was what we would want before we dove in. We both left there that night, not thinking about which tile to choose, but talking about what great service we received. We did as he said and came home and looked at the space and the ideas we chatted about and realized it wouldn't work in our space. We came back the next night, and again for well over an hour Kevan helped us put ideas together, setting them up to look like a fire place, looking at them in different lighting and settings, and eventually came up with the perfect look for us! His patience, knowledge, kindness, and ability to truly help us move through this process won us as customers for life! We can't wait to see how the final product comes out and are already talking about getting started on the kitchen and bathrooms! read more

Big selection, very helpful salespeople, and very patient as well. We chose tile for a kitchen backsplash. I bought a few squares of mosaic tile for an accent area to see which looked best, and two different shades of coordinating glass subway tile. They took returns of the mosaic pattern and glass tiles we decided against, no questions asked. read more

Since I bought my home I've always wanted to reface the 1970s looking brick fireplace. After reading the reviews about the tile shop cust service I was a bit weary but as soon as I walked in I was quickly greeted by a kind gentleman named Bill. Not only did he take his time with me but he also answered every question that I had and made excellent suggestions after considering my ideas. I was very happy that I could get my travertine facing within one week... That is very heavy stone and I was surprised I wouldn't have to wait longer for it to ship to the store. Wow what a great place. We needed tile for two bathroom remodeling projects and our contractor recommended the Tile Shop. The selection was amazing and the prices were reasonable. By far the biggest benefit was to have the an expert helping me choose the right tile. It was overwhelming to have so many options to choose from, but Bill showed us what tile, pencil trim and mosaic tile worked well together. Most tile can be ready in a 5 business days or less, a few items were in stock. They also have a great return policy. We absolutely love how our projects came out and it wouldn't be possible without the staff and the tile shop. read more

I had no idea this company existed. I had just left Home Depot disappointed that I could not find a large white tile for our new shower. We walked into this shop and could not get over the immense selection. We were greeted by Bill Pineo, an incredibly knowledgable associate who knew the inventory very well. He took me to exact area where they had the finish product and he grasped our space very well and made great suggestions. He has a degree in Sociology, so he is s great listener! Bill was very sincere and extremely patient. We lost track of time and he and the other associates waited without any attitude and said " take your time" . The entire team gets a 5 star for service. If you are thinking of remodeling a kitchen or bathroom, you need to drive over and see this showroom. Your creativity will be blown away by the huge selection . I am so glad I went to the Avon HD , or I never would have discovered this store. Paul McCarthy was our salesman, and he has been extremely nice and pleasant to work with. We did a kitchen, bathroom, and firework tiles, and I wanted to do a European style non-traditional remodeling. He gave us very nice suggestions and was super patient while we were deciding what we wanted to do and spent hours with us to make sure we are happy with our tile selection. He gave pros and cons on some of the tiles we were considering and went above and beyond to make us happy. Usually it is common for some salesman to ignore customers once sale is made but Paul was very different. You can tell that he does this work and personally enjoy helping people beyond whether or not he will make a sale as even though he made the sale, ever single time after we visited the shop to return items or ask about a question, he made sure he was the one to take care of us throughout a few months period. The tile selection is good - generally speaking the managers are polite. However, beware Michelle. If you walk in and she attempts to assist you demand to have someone else help. She's not helpful, gives inaccurate information, and to cap it all off is incredibly rude and condescending when an issue arrises. read more
