What they don't explain to you during purchase is that the installers are not vetted contractors who don't understand plans, don't allow you to take photos of their poor work quality during installation, will hide cracks in cabinets they cause, and then will ask for hundreds of dollars as a tip and to remove boxes. Customer service is lacking from ikea. I have been dealing with a kitchen that is only 50% usable due to installation for 6 months and ikea stopped responding 4 months ago. A case has been filed with the MA AG office due to this. If you have a similar experience, you can join that case file.

Bill Shea's just gave me a quote for the same price for the same counter top, they'll come next week to template and should have the countertop ready for install in 10 days from that. I think I'm going to dispute the credit card charges if I don't hear back by the end of today and go with Bill Shea's. AVOID VANITY WORLD unless you want a never ending project. 2nd Update: Went to VW to ask for refund for the countertop part of my bill. They refused and told me to "Get the F*&k out". Contesting with credit card company. Looks like this will end up in small claims.

Spend a little extra and go to a reputable place like a lumber yard Home Depot or Lowe's. I am out $36 but they are out a customer because I had planned to buy 3 solid wood pre hung doors because I was happy with the other ones I bought...I like saving $$$ but nothing is worth shopping there.

Unfortunately I am not the only one who has endured a bad experience with her. MH I warn anyone who will listen away from this unethical business and owner Robin Boyce. I had the misfortune to be her client and endure her careless, unprofessional, dishonest and ultimately abusive and vulgar treatment. My "custom kitchen" arrived without the custom elements and with a grossly oversized refrigerator. The kitchen designer blames someone else for a major kitchen error and refuses to fix it! (See photos) I had the exact same experience with the shutters and the custom stair-runner I ordered from her. They were both delivered with errors and missing parts, and Design West has done NOTHING to correct its errors. This is the worst experience I've ever had with another human being, period. I never received an apology on any mistake I swear to God. That's when I realized too late I had hired the wrong person. Robin Boyce/Design Center West scammed me by promising professional results and delivering dirt. Robin Boyce then turned verbally abusive when confronted with her easily disproved lies. (I have all documentation to prove my charges.) This last point deserves special mention. When I expressed my dismay at the errors, delays and lack of accountability, her demeanor shifted immediately from friendly to combative and borderline violent. It was a shock to learn the owner wasn't just a sleaze but mentally unhinged too. When I confronted her in her store after she ignored my contractor's emails and texts, she began screaming profanities at me while hurling insults about my appearance and character, which I presumed was an intimidation tactic. That felt sickening, but it worsened when she came at me with her arm pulled back as if to throw a punch, but thankfully she stopped herself before landing her fist in my face. I feel certain the only thing that stopped her was a possible assault charge. I would feel sorry for Ms Boyce if she wasn't a thief, and if her emotional instability didn't manifest in such an ugly manner. But no mental state excuses her dishonesty, mentally healthy or not. Not a word of this review is hyperbole. I lost thousands of dollars and was blindsided by a venomous verbal assault because I had the temerity to call out Robin Boyce on her mendacity and fraud. I could provide a colorful litany of her actions, but suffice it to say that it involved a lot of obscene finger, hip and hand gestures. Incidentally, her staff just sat there like dummies the entire time and let it all happen. Apparently they don't have an issue working for such a repulsive woman. Prior to my dealings with her, Robin was verbally abusive to my contractor on multiple occasions as well when he asked her about delayed deliverables. Following is an example of one the few correspondences between him and Robin that isn't littered with her F-bombs: "Shut up. Stop talking. Don't tell me what to do. Its not Maureen... its you. I'm surprised guys take your mouth, and the way you talk down to others; I suspect you've been punched a few times." This is the first---and I hope last--bad review I ever had to write. Let this brutally honest review serve as a public service announcement to warn others away from this troublemaker. Do not hire Design Center West. You will pay a premium for sloppy, mediocre results, and the owner will curse you when you express your dissatisfaction. This has been a yearlong nightmare that only ended after I hired someone else to fix all of her mistakes. Caveat emptor!

Robin helped me from start to finish with my new house build. Even during the pandemic she has been on top of things and instructing me to get things ordered prior to shipment delays. She and her team have been responsible, proactive, and truly professional. They are communicating with my contractor and his team and his cabinet installer told me it was such a pleasure working with them he would like to do more jobs with them. Any mistakes (Fedex dropped a vanity and it cracked) were handled quickly and replaced at no cost to me. Her attention to detail is incredible. Additionally, she was very focused on saving me money and making sure I was not buying things I did not need. It has been a true pleasure working with Robin and her team again. I cannot say enough good things about them!

At 4:20 p.m., I had to leave briefly to pick up my child from daycare for a 4:30 pickup. Shortly after, I received a call from Nelson Landscape stating the mulch had already been delivered. The employee who called was rude, disrespectful, and immediately demanded payment. They insisted I had been told delivery would occur between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., which was never communicated to me. Had I been given that information, I would have made other arrangements. When I asked if I could provide my credit card over the phone, I was told no one was in the office to take payment. I then asked if I could simply call back the next day to pay by credit card. Instead of receiving a reasonable response, the employee said, "Whatever, I don't have time to deal with this," and hung up on me. After years of being a consistent, reliable customer, this level of customer service was shocking. The interaction was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. We understand that mistakes and miscommunications happen, but there is never an excuse for treating loyal customers this way. Given the way I was spoken to and the complete lack of professionalism shown during this interaction, we can no longer support this company. It's incredibly disappointing that after years of loyalty, one employee's disrespectful behavior has completely changed our opinion of a business we once trusted and happily recommended.

There were, however, at least three instances where venders made very sexist, condescending remarks, such as "you should find a boyfriend who can teach you engineering," or "this isn't the place for a nice girl like you, with all these electronics!" Usually I could forgive this, and in all cases I informed them that I was in fact an engineer despite being a woman (a radical concept, I know), but in all cases, when I asked the prices of different components they gave me ones that were significantly higher than usual. I decided to do an experiment; I had my friend (a guy) go to one of the same venders and ask the price of the same component and the vender's price for him was lower (only by like two dollars, but still).

After the 9th week, I noticed on the website the cost was less so I called for a status and asked for the sales price. They agreed to give me the sales price and said the order is at the warehouse. The next day I received an email stating the item is out of stock and my order was cancelled - this is after waiting 9 weeks. I called and all I got was, "I'm sorry, it is out of stock." Now in most cases, a PO is assigned to you when you place your order and it will be ready to ship in the time frame they first give you. I asked to speak to a manager and after 6 hours one called me back, saying the same thing, "Sorry it's out of stock." I could tell it was the same person I spoke to earlier. They took 9 weeks away from me, in that time I could have had the item from another company. Very POOR services. I don't recommend them!!

I'm so irate now that I will be contacting the tv channels to get this out. How dare they rob people and then don't stand by their garbage!!! Update: This place had somebody come out and put a piece of foam under the seat. In two days it was right back to where it was. I was asked by the company to take the review down. I did it in good faith that this would be repaired. I'm in the process of calling the AG amongst others to report this since I was told they could only come back once to try to fix it.
