My husband and I have been shopping at Chace Building Supply for nearly 30 years, and we always have a positive experience. Mark has worked with us on several projects. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Over the past couple of years, we have been renovating a multi-family home in Dorchester, and Mark has been especially helpful in working with our contractor on quotes, making product recommendations and setting up delivery to Boston at a very reasonable cost. When we needed to order replacement windows and sliding glass doors, Mark referred us to his colleague, Tom, who specializes in these products. Tom quickly got back to us with a quote, placed our order and set-up delivery. When one of the door handles arrived damaged from the factory, he immediately ordered a replacement from the manufacturer. Mark has helped us keep this big project on track with his prompt follow-up and great communication with our contractor. I highly recommend Chace Building Supply. We have been using Chace Building Supply for quite a while and they are always friendly and on top of things. We generally order custom doors and lumber from them and have them deliver large amounts of supplies for our residential construction projects. I would highly recommend them to all builders needing a reliable supply house. Also great for quoting prices, ordering windows, and just answering questions of how or where to get things. I was just in this store with my husband hoping to get some information on some doors, windows and siding but left with no information because 1st of all not one of the 10 employees there even said "hello can I help you with anything?" We walked around stop in each place we were interested in nothing even though they saw us!! Its hard not to notice a bald black lady. I purchased a sheet of MDO plywood and realized when I got it home it was bent, I called the store to have them exchange it. We could not find one sheet in a big stack that wasn't bent, I explained that this sheet is going to be used to make a small door so it needs to be flat. They could not come up with a flat one so I asked him to discount me a sheet and the Owner began yelling at me and called me a piece of Shi!. He then got in my face and threatened me and I told him if he touched me I would sue him, I also told him he could not handle me if he did touch me and he says the his girlfriend has bigger Ti_s (breast) than the size of me to further insult me because I am not that tall. Nice way to treat a dissatisfied customer that you sold crappy lumber to. I have been going here for years. but I wil not tolerate this crap from anybody. I was not confrontational until the owner started with me. I even told the other employees that they were not a problem and I felt sorry they have to work for this a-hole. I went into Chace today to see what was available for bathroom vanities. I had been to the big box stores and wanted to see what was available in custom-made vanities. Well, there were 2 employees in the kitchen/bath department and neither of them even looked up from their desk to speak to me. I looked around at the displays for awhile and saw some beautiful choices, but I felt so unwelcome that I left and will go back to the big box stores where the employees made me feel welcome and very happy to answer my questions! read more

This place is unbelievable. We had to reboard our PT deck and started shopping over the Spring for composite decking. We visited Koopmans, had two other companies come out and give us quotes, researched Home Depot/Lowes and ended up with Chace. Their service and helpfulness is second to none. Delivery of product and custom pieces were within 3 days. Never again will we be going to to big box stores when they have everything we need, and what they do carry far exceeds the quality of the bigger chains. It's been a headache working with this company, to say the least. After waiting weeks for my requested custom closet doors to be ordered, the wrong doors come in, for which I received no apologies by the company. I decided to order an additional standard sized door for another room to match these doors because my contractor told me they were cheap (with no specifics on what that means). I'm expecting Chace to contact me about ordering this new door, and maybe even apologize for their mistake. Next thing I know, there are multiple charges on my card amounting to something I don't find cheap at all for this door. I signed an authorization to allow the company to charge my card remotely without my physical presence because their shop is so far away. Apparently this also means they charge your card for project materials without discussing the costs with you. Be wary of this. Had I known their mistake was going to cost me hundreds more, I would've returned the original incorrect doors. read more

As first time home buyers, Chace has been the most wonderful experience. We have been working with Jack, who is a delight. Jack is knowledgeable and straight forward. He listens and gives great options, without being overwhelming. He wants the customer to have what they want for the right price, in the way of the best product for the project. He has given us multiple recommendations for other companies to work with in our home reno process and each place has also been wonderful. He takes his time to help you and is very thorough. Working with Jack and Chace has made this experience that much more exciting for us. I would highly recommend Chace and if you get to work with Jack too, then you are lucky! read more

I'm not exactly a handy guy, so even though I've lived in Franklin/Foxboro most of my life, I had never been to Chace until today. My mom works at a major Boston hospital and, with the coronavirus, they're overrun and in dire need of personal protective gear for their medical staff. I went on a wild goose chase over the past 2 days trying to buy any and all respirator masks I could find -- in 2 days, I found 8 total across who knows how many stores -- to give to my mom so she could bring the supplies to her hospital. I thought I'd found every mask within an hour of me until, as a last ditch effort, I called Chace. The GM Chris took down my name and number so he could go check on their inventory, but I decided to just drive over right then so I could buy any remaining masks before someone else did. When I got there, Chris remembered my call and personally walked me over to the masks and helped me buy the ones they had available as well as filters they had in storage (I wouldn't have known to buy those). He gave me a small discount on the masks, which are expensive b/c of their quality, and told me he'd follow up in the coming days if they got more in. Within an hour, he called and said he'd found some more in their shipment from this morning. Two of the boxes were slightly damaged, so he donated those for hospital use, for free, as well as some industrial-sized hand sanitizer bags and a commercial dispenser. He then discounted an additional box of respirator masks I bought for the hospital. It was all just so far above and beyond. VIP here was definitely Chris, but we got a great assist from Paul too, and all the guys working were clearly on board with what they were doing. My whole family and I are so blown away by the generosity and care of this business. They are clearly doing their part for our community and state in this time of crisis -- all businesses in the US should follow their lead, as we're all in this together. Like I said, I'm not particularly handy, but I love this place so much that I'll find excuses to use them for future needs. At the very least, I want to tell everyone I know in the area to support this business. Thank you guys so, so much -- I know this stuff will make an incredible difference for the nurses and doctors who need it. My family/friends and I will definitely be back for anything and everything that we can find an excuse to use your store for in the future! read more

I was prompted to post this review after seeing Chase Lumbers' TV ad. It makes me mad that they tout their experience and how many years the owners have been in business over the big box retailers. I my opinion it just gives them more experience in "screwing the public". I have not stepped foot in Chase in over 10 years. My problems with them started when I was building a garage about 10 years ago. I brought a plan from a building designer ( not a full fledged architect). As part of the materials list was about 20 2x10's. I paid for the whole lot of materials and during an inspection it was found that the plans were wrong and the building inspector required 2x12's. I called Chase and told them I needed to exchange the 2x10's for 2x12's, their response was, sorry we don't take lumber back or whatever. It was 10 years ago I don't exactly remember their excuse. It was like a week after I bought a whole load of materials... nails, glue, plywood etc. I was flabbergasted! I bought the 2x12's and all the rest of my materials from National Lumber and they took back everything that was excess or wrong. It's been 10 years and I still have a small pile of 2x10's that I didn't need. My experience is, their experience knows that as a homeowner and not someone that deals with buying building materials for a living they felt comfortable because I had no recourse... until now, I can warn all unsuspecting potential customer what a bunch of unscrupulous businessmen these guys are. read more

My window glass broke,find the Chace foxboro from the window above,and then go to the Chace foxboro found a woman who is responsible for the windows for taking about warranty she began to find fault, and finally she agreed time next week came to the house to check, the she disappeared and didn't call to me don't email me, i was so disappointed white their after-sale service! read more

In a lot of ways it's better than a big box store. The lumber yard is a drive through and the quality is better. The reason for 3 stars is the last time I got lumber there, I told the attendant in the yard I needed to take my time and pick my own pieces because I was building pump jack posts and needed them to be dead straight and without a lot of knots along the edges. He rushed me through and started picking pieces for me, putting them in my truck without me getting the chance to review them. I only needed a few but he didn't listen to me. There were no other customers in the yard so he had no reason to rush me. The guys in the store are helpful though. In a lot of ways superior to box stores. But not being able to pick my own lumber is a deal breaker. read more
