First time to eat at the IKEA restaurant. They have a great selection of food, dessert, fountain sodas and coffee! Everything is pretty affordable. The kid's menu and regular menu is pretty good. I heard about their famous Swedish meatballs and decided to try it. Ordered the Swedish meatballs with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and veggies. The vegetarian meatballs with curry sauce is okay. I wish the food was fresh and not room temperature. Great selection with the sodas. The chocolate cake was good! That's my favorite. Believe it or not, I've never eaten here. I've heard all the hype but just never made it over. We were at IKEA looking for frames and other household stuff and my stomach started grumbling. Oh hey, doesn't IKEA have those famous meatballs? Yeah. Food is cheap here - reminds me of Costco but a dollar or so more. We chose the swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes plus a drink for like $3. Not bad. The meatballs were surprisingly good. This IKEA has a huge area to just hang out and eat. No, I don't go to Ikea for the food. But sometimes it can be nice to take a break from shopping and have a bit to eat, especially if you have kids with you (no need for anyone to get hangry). i know the outside sign says that the building opens at 10am, but the actual restaurant opens at 9:30am. It is a cafeteria-style "restaurant", so you stand in line and grab what you want for cold items while you ask for what you want for the hot stuff. Prices honestly seem to be dirt cheap here and I don't think they are making a profit from the Restaurant in any way. If you are an iKEA member, you can get free coffee/hot tea as a perk. Food-wise (especially based on the price) is well worth it. The salmon, biscuit/bagel, and cream cheese combo is low-calorie, cheap, and super-tasty. The salmon tastes fresh, and the addition of the basil (?) just suits it. I was not disappointed with the biscuit/cracker versus the bagel, and it was pretty filling for $4. The egg, sausage, potatoes option isn't too bad, either, though it is more calories than the salmon dish; again, though, it's very cheap as the breakfast is either $1 or $2. Service has been polite, and we're able to pay for our meals without too much of an issue. i do see that credit cards do take some time to process, so cash may be a quicker option. Edit: Ha! The best IKEA in the area and I've been to a few. Showrooms are always updated and the restaurant is fairly nice! Always clean and seems much easier to get in and out compared to other locations. They inject their meatballs with crack... add mashed potatoes+lingonberry sauce.. oh maan, paaaartaay in your MOUTH. So much food for such little money! The potato .. wedge thingies with bacon were pretty good. Anything potato is good though really. The best thing about this place is that it is cheap! $1 for a soda and you can get a meal for under $5. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (do not order this, it is gross). The meat was full of fat globules I could barley get it down. I also got a side salad $2.99 with the Newman's packet dressing and the dressing tasted rancid to me. The fries that came with the sandwich were great & thats where they earn their 2 stars instead of 1. They are steak fries that are slightly seasoned. Brings me back fond memories of when I was in Sweden and tasting their lingonberries and meatballs for the first time. Love it so much! Also glad that they brought back Marabou chocolates. I have shopped at Ikea with a purpose for years, but haven't ever done a leisure shop until lately. Man, shopping can be tiring. And boy, Ikea does it right by having a good, tasty restaurant there for you to refuel your energy. Hubby had the chicken strips, and I opted for a chicken caesar salad and mac and cheese. Honestly? It was all deeeee-lish! I ended up munching the chicken strips, too, as they were just too darn good, I wanted to devour them all. I love the furniture and affordable price items but the vegetarian food options are beyond awful. I hope that IKEA will heed my advice and make vegetables by steaming them instead of boiling them. The vegetables were so watered down that it tasted like soggy paper. The veggie meatballs need more herbs and spices. The vegetarian nuggets were hard like a rock and so dry. No amount of water would soften them. The veggie hotdog was over cooked and flavorless. It came with only bread and veggie dog. I'm always excited going to Ikea. I guessed I got carried away and ordered a bunch of food. I was starving waiting for my friend to pick me up that day. Somehow, breakfast becomes brunch and then lunch. The food were all delicious! These were some of the most moist and soft meatballs ever. They paired well with the sauce, but I think they tasted better with just the mashed potatoes gravy alone. Garlic toasts and fries were on point. Apple pie goes very well with coffee. It was very refreshingly cold, lightly sweet and tarty, with a hint of pumpkin spice. I don't like sweet coffee, so I skipped the sugar. Overall, happiness level was 10+. Id give it a 3.5, but for the price and the fact that the rest of the menu looks delicious I bumped it up. Swedish meatballs: the meatballs and gravy were good, but nothing I'd crave for. Preferred dipping the meatballs in ketchup or bbq sauce. The vegetables that come with the dish are very tasty and perfectly cooked in my opinion. The lingonberry sauce has a nice sweet tartness. The mashed potatoes were disgusting and tastes like the fake potatoes you can make from powder. Mousse with lingonberry and almonds: do not get this despite the pretty looks! The mousse is very bland and kind of sour. The graham crumb at the bottom is very crumbly and bland. The only good thing about this is the lingonberry sauce on the side and in the filling and the lingonberries. Princess cream cake with marzipan: FREAKING DELICIOUS!!! The cake is very soft and fluffy. There is a small raspberry filling in between the custard and cake layer on the bottom. The pink marzipan tastes delicious and everything combines well together. French fries: delicious!!!! Vegetable medallions: better than the Swedish meatballs in my opinion. Very tasty. Garlic bread: the inside was too soft but the outside had a bit of crunch which was nice. Not that great. I went in to buy a shelf. It happened to be one that they have to pull for you (not off the shelf). It took over 35 min in line to just give them the part. 45 min total to hand me a piece of paper to take to register where I was in line another 10 mins. I was going to buy a small rug too. The price at register was double the cost on the bin yet they wouldn't honor their own signage (it was in a large bin of all the same rugs so no confusion of being misplaced). I did not but the rug. I pay for the shelf and it took another 40 min for them to bring the 3 boxes to me. Home & following the extremely crappy instructions, we put a piece on upside down but the way it assembled it was locked and unable to disassemble to fix. We were able to make it work (except we now have 2 holes visible). Then we go to put the top on and realize we're missing all the parts to join the two pieces. I called and was told I could either come sort through a big junk bin that may or may not havve what I need or wait 2+ weeks while they ship from "either Canada or Europe" - keep in mind half the shelf is assembled and taking up space until it's completed - I now have a $179 shelf that we now have to search a hardware store for parts to somehow fix. People rave about Ikea food, but I really don't see the hype or the craze for it. Yeah it's a cheap meal, but it's not something I would go out of my way to go have. Nice to go to when you're shopping in the building but that's about it. Love their espresso machine here! It has multiple options. This time I decided to try the Salmon Balls Meal, which also came with mashed potatoes and greens. The salmon balls were dry and just ok. The mashed potatoes were good. Wanna be gourmet cafeteria food never had a better place than having it at IKEA. Why? And I don't know if it's my college fetish for wanna be fancy looking furnishings, I still manage to walk out of here at least $30 poorer every time I'm here. But I am here to talk about the restaurant, the store itself and the way its merchandised, I totally love. The restaurant? Lots of room for improvement. I've eaten here for more than a decade at this location. Appearance wise, it has gotten a face lift with free Wifi, more couches, a play station for younger kids, some separation with different seating. Totally dig that. However, the food here is still mass heated and served by someone who looks like your Aunt Hilda from Germany who doesn't say thank you. Apparently Aunt Hilda serves food in terms of speed, not appearance as I see sauces and food drop as she scoops my portion. And since it was Tuesday, two kids eat free with a purchase of an adult meal. Really a great deal, but a real miss on what I have to say next. As I was in line at 1:15pm today, my mistake was going to the closest cashier to the entrance (which by the way is the busiest line) and the guy was apparently new. As I paid for my lingoberry dripped meatballs and kids meal that I can't find the forks for, he overcharged only for me to re-correct him. He asked the cashier next to him and whatever she told him, he apparently had to make a phone call. As I wait patiently in line feeling bad for the people behind me, I noticed my cashier takes of and was soon replaced by....you guessed it, Aunt Hilda. I soon realized Aunt Hilda is a supervisor here, and she pretty much knows how little or a lot to serve the customers. I understand this is a great way to control expenses with having the supervisor serving the food. And let me just back up a bit, Aunt Hilda corrected me earlier while serving that I needed to hit $4 to get the kids for free. So to make my story short, my original kids portion food I ended buying the adult size. She just moved all the portions to my plate, which was fine but I really wished she added more gravy which she didn't because I lost some during the transition. Anyways, back to my story of while in line....Aunt Hilda had to re-scan her badge so that my order can be erased. My original newbie cashier came back and recharged correctly and all of this took about 3 minutes. While it doesn't sound like a long time, by the time I sat down and ate my meatball dish, it was already cold. So, here is a tip. There are two lines that form in the cafeteria and go to the one away from the bathroom. Get your food and make sure you tell the cashier what the price should be before it's totaled up. Fill your drink, get your seat and eat happy...or if you don't heed my advice, you can be like me and eat sadly. New on the menu is a sampler plate and a salmon sandwich for $5 each. GOODS: -pricing: the food here is CHEAP, and pretty good for the price you pay; everything is pretty much $10 or below, but mostly below; extra sides range from a few cents up to a couple dollars, which is a great deal in my opinion -their chicken dishes have never failed to impress me; they are never overcooked/dry, and well seasoned -meal comes with two sides: a vegetable side and a carb/grain side; somewhat a well-balanced meal; you can add more sides for a little extra charge -portions: the portions seem perfect for me; keeps me from overeating -fast service: its cafeteria-style serving; you tell the server what you want, they prepare your plate, you pay and seat yourself -atmosphere: the cafe has improved greatly, and they have created different spaces to enjoy your food or different ambiances -free refills NOT-SO-GOODS: -food can really be a hit-or-miss here, depending on the dish and how it was prepared -portions can seem small for some -be picky about your cups and silverware: examine your cups and/or silverware for missed spots and "leftovers" **TIP: always order a side of meatballs :) I love the fact that you can eat here after/before you shop, or even if you just came for the food at the restaurant because it is opened to the public. IKEA is already a cool place to be at and having a cafeteria inside makes it even better ! Brings me back to the days being in school and Walking in a single line and grabbing a tray and putting your food inside the tray and then grabbing your drink after wards when you pay for the meal(s). It's nice to know IKEA has a cute little cafeteria inside and their customers are able to grab a bite before , during , or even after they're done shopping . I believe on tuesdays it's kids eat free ? Correct me if I'm wrong. But the food here is super inexpensive ! Where the cashiers are you're able to grab some hotdogs which are .50 for the kiddos & then you can grab them an ice cream cone after for a small dessert. There's also cinnamon buns which melts in your mouth. Oh my gosh sooo good !! Inside their cafeteria they have apple pie , chicken salad, Greek salad, vegetarian meat balls for my vegan friends, penna pasta, Mac & cheese, chicken fingers & fries, their infamous Swedish meatballs that is always a hit here & so much more !! I was planning on stopping at Ikea for dish brushes but a trip to Ikea was on my mind for several weeks although not convenient. A missed freeway exit on the 405 fwy allowed me to drive right by this Ikea which stuck out like a sore thumb, so I veered off the freeway to go to this OC location. ***5 star recent find: Organic Blueberry and Raspberry Jam $3.99. It is WORTH the money and effort just to stop in for this one item, it is one of the best jams I have tried in a while, AND you don't have to go through the maze to find it...it is located in their food area which is just near the exit and cash registers. We bought a jar for a jam bar recipe I was testing.... the jar was scraped clean over the weekend, it was so good...going back for more ASAP! Note: After shopping at Ikea over the years, I am not a huge fan of the Ikea branded furniture or most of their items and really only get in and out of the store every 6 months or so to stock up on $.49 cents dish brushes which I love. Even though it is tempting to buy items here, I have found most things break and are not the highest quality. So instead of going through their mind boggling maze of a store just to exit, I usually get in and out of a side door near the kitchen gadgets section and its painless as it could be. The poor lady in front of me in line was exhausted and even breaking a sweat from going through the crowded store on a weekend evening. Pleasantly surprised by the food court here. The food is pretty good with amazing prices. You should definitely give the meatballs a try if you haven't already. They are certainly very memorable meatballs. WTF happened to the meatballs and where is the red potatoes? It' been a while since I was last here to eat but I definitely remember the meatballs being a lot more tastier, perhaps because they were made with BEEF. It's seems like most of these reviews are about the Swedish Meatballs...... Well I say meatballs, schmeatballs! I'm here to talk about breakfast! IKEA is NOT the first place I think of for breakfast or food in general, but for some odd Swedish reason, it all works! FOOD: I went for the "Big Breakfast" ($1.99), which includes the previously mentioned $0.99 breakfast items, plus French toast sticks. I also added a side of sausage links (3 for $1.35) and the cinnamon bun ($1). So I got outta there with a full tummy for $4.75! It would have been $3.75 had I not added the cinnamon bun! The scrambled eggs are actually good, properly cooked and nicely seasoned, along with the potatoes. The bacon slices are THIN, but definitely still bacon. The French toast sticks are... French toast sticks, pretty good if you like that sort of thing. Sausage is decent along with the cinnamon roll (but the cinnamon is very strong). The value is definitely 5 stars. How did we spend $24 on eating at IKEA when we could've gone to a actual restaurant that did not feel like a cafeteria? Doh. p.s. I love that there's a sign saying costs are kept low because we bus our own tables. ~ $1.50 each soft drink - Pepsi no less...shudder. ~ $7.99 ribs and fries - The Hubs said the ribs were ok but they looked like they were mass produced in the oven. The fries were surprisingly nice and crisp. ~ $5(?) smoked salmon - A tad dry and over smoked; understanding this is smoked salmon. The tightness of the fish could also be because it was cold too. Not the worst but if you're going to get it, be sure to split it. It is actually quite a bit. ~ $6 thai chicken wraps - We got ripped pieces of lettuce that we could not use to make a wrap. The chicken was diced up so small it was the size of tic tacs and it was in some weird jelly sauce. At first, I wasn't even sure was chicken. Yikes! Definitely a dish to avoid!! ~ $1 for 5 meatballs - the best and only thing that people should get. On another note, in the ground level dining area by the check out, it is only $1 for a plain hot dog and 50 cents for the organic milk. Side note: both my 2 year old and my hubs thought the milk tasted weird and they refused to drink it. Get your cinnamon roll to go and have it at home! In regards to the merchandise in the store, I typically try to avoid furniture and large items. They charge as much as any other retail store but there's always parts missing or you end up having to drill your own holes since their parts do not line up. While IKEA Restaurant is not my ideal place to go eat, I went here on the weekend of September 2-5 and the food was actually not bad. The special for the weekend was get the amount you spend in furniture, free, in food. We bought over $250 in furniture and got $100 worth of food free from IKEA. I thought to myself, the food is so cheap, how were we ever going to get the bill up to $100? Surprisingly, it wasn't that hard and added up fast. I recommend all the salmon lox and smoked salmon plates. Everything else is okay, cafeteria quality and needed salt. It probably won't be my last time eating here, but next time I eat here, will probably be for the same deal. read more

The price is cheap. They redecorated the eating area. The corner play area doesn't exist anymore... then still have a small play area. I like the free coffee that u can get with ur free family membership card. It's free each time you visit. Breakfast meal is only $1.00. I only like the potatoes on it. The eggs are gross. I do like the meat balls here and the cinnamon rolls. I wish they brought back Friday Fish Day for 2bucks. The kids meals are a good deal... ;) The coffee is good. Anywho, their new VEGGIE BALLS are made with chickpeas, green peas, kale, corn, peppers, and pea protein, and come with a cauliflower and sweet potato sauce and a side of steamed veggies. They're actually pretty good, but the steamed veggie side didn't do anything for me. It was bland and just, mehh. I understand IKEA isn't a gourmet restaurant, but c'mon. In all the years we have been together, BF has raved about the meatballs at Ikea. He is always shocked that I have never tried them. So today he took me to Ikea for lunch. Classy! I got the chicken fingers in case I didn't like the meatballs. We also each got the Swedish Festive bottled drink. Yay for new things? The meatballs were good! Loved the mashed potatoes too. Should have ordered that. The chicken fingers were disgusting. Overly breaded, too thin, too greasy. The fries were old and cold. The Festive drink tasted like a combo of cherry cough syrup with a splash of Cola. We tossed those after taking about three sips.
