Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat before seeing a show at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts across the way. I ordered a grilled cheese and tomato soup. It took a bit for the meal to come out, but it tasted good. I miss having a Boudin in San Diego and was excited to see it in Costa Mesa. Quick and easy meal before the show!

Have wanted to try this place for a few years and finally had a minute between shopping to grab a bite to eat. Ordered the pick-a-pair with the bacon led cheese sandwich -- soooo good! It was paired with their clam chowder soup, which was delicious. You can order the soup in a sourdough bowl, which I will try next time. Also ordered the tuna melt with broccoli cheese soup -- do you notice a cheese pattern here?! Both dishes were delicious! Also grabbed The Royals cookie with oatmeal, chocolate chunks and coconut -- yum! Staff was very pleasant-- they bring the order to your table. They also have an iPad kiosk to place your order if you want to skip the line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and they share a parking lot with The Container Store and Nordstrom Rack, so it can be challenging during peak hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely be back!

I forgot how delicious this place is!! The bread is so fresh and crusty.. I split the warm pesto chicken sandwich and a side salad with a friend and it was the perfect amount. We also got a royale cookie that was deeeelish... a chocolate chip cookie with coconut and white chocolate chips...perfection! Everything was super fresh and super tasty! Service was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance wasn't anything special...was quite crowded when we were there after lunch so it was bustling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A day of shopping and I needed some comfort food at the end of a cold night. What a perfect combination of soup and salad. I really loved the Jim Cobb salad here with the large bits of real bacon, avocado and blue cheese. I probably did not need the bread bowl for the clam chowder but it's the original way to enjoy it. The combination special of choosing two of your favorites is a great choice. The service was quick and staff were really courteous. You may not be up in San Francisco, but you can have the meal from there here in Costa Mesa. This place is now a favorite on my list!

I'm a big sandwich guy and I was craving a fresh baked baguette sandwich on my way home last Wednesday, so I decided to stop by at Boudin SF. Now I am not too familiar with Boudin, I've had their soups before, but this is the first time I ordered a sandwich, and I was very disappointed. The baguette was so hard to bite into, this made the overall sandwich eating experience truly disappointing. The meat and toppings kept falling out every time I tried taking a bite, squeezing out a piece of that bread. After I was pretty much done my sandwich, I know there's other customers getting their sandwiches on baguette loaves rather than a baguette sub. I had no idea this was an option as this was not even offered to me at the counter when I ordered. And I known this I would've definitely chosen this option. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do like location of this restaurant, situated in a busy strip mall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was pretty fast, and while I can say, the sandwich was still tasty, the overall experience because of the baguette was not good at all. Sidenote, if you sign up for their rewards membership, every month, you get a free sourdough baguette to take home with at least a one dollar purchase that month. I definitely grabbed mine.

Asian Citrus Chicken Salad, Clam Chowder in bread bowl

Did a stop at Boudin in South Coast, and when it comes to sandwiches, soup, and salad, Boudin always does it for me. My all-time favorite is the Pick Two I usually get the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the Asian salad, but I also have to shout out the grilled cheese and tomato soup Pick Two because that combo is superior. They definitely changed the recipe for the Asian salad recently, but it still has the same essence as the old one just feels a bit more refreshed and modern. I love the sourdough here, although this time around the clam chowder leaned a little more potato-heavy than usual. With Boudin, the chowder can be hit or miss: when it's really good, it's really good, and when it's not, it kind of falls in the middle still okay. I also love their rewards program I always put in my phone number and actually get rewards. Every month you get a free sourdough, and sometimes a few dollars off your order, which is such a nice perk. The service has always been spectacular, and this spot is definitely a staple for us whenever we're out and about or just craving soup, salad, and a sandwich.

Came in, order and self seating, staff were friendly, [[HIGHLIGHT]]restaurant/bistro was clean and bright[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Sandwich bread was amazing crispy outside and super soft inside. Classic bread bowl with clam chowder. When we come to this area we try to stop by. Good meal for $15 and filling if you get the bread bowl.

Sourdough clam chowder is not too shabby. It isn't the best clam chowder, but the sourdough is fresh and tasty. Sandwiches are also great, and the fresh bread makes a difference. Service is friendly and they move quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Open environment with plenty of window seating to enjoy the passerby shoppers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped in while son and friends were up the street. Was craving clam chowder so not a lot of options. Been here before and it's fine and pricing is about what you'd pay elsewhere for meal and drink. It's not amazing but flavorful enough and with the bread bowl, definitely filling. You can order from kiosk or at counter. Menu had a nice variety and some desserts I hadn't seen before. I'd come back in a cold day for soup here after shopping. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating inside is basic and restaurant was fairly quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Well we absolutely love Sourdough and when in Nor Cal Boudin is an obligatory must have. Reality So Cal isn't the same experience. Service was good pretty very rudimentary. Not RUDE at all. Just basic. I order via Kiosk take a number and out comes my meal delivered to the table. Sourdough bowl chowder is ok had large chunks and a tasty base. Bread was a little chewy. Salad again was Ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Location is busy and could use a deep clean and some upgrades.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After all it's OC so might need to step it up. Highly recommend the turkey cranberry sandwich.

9/2025 the best fries ever (street fries)

I've been missing out! I thought this was just another "deli-style fast food place and definitely did not expect to enjoy it as much as I had on a recent visit. Very unexpected!!! And so delicious!! Their street fries is fantastic: so crispy, airy fries, it was served hot and savory with their toppings. Texture and flavors are definitely my favorite here. We also tried their crispy chicken sandwich and a pepperoni pizza. The peach shake was another sweet surprise and one I'd definitely revisit to enjoy before it leaves their menu for the season. But, back to that chicken sandwich. The slaw and jalapeños on the chicken sandwich was unique and added a very tasty flavor. The bread/bun was the perfect pillowy and chewy goodness to complement the chicken and slaw. Beyond happy with everything we had ordered. I'll actually be back sooner than later to try more of their menu: French dip; tuna melt; coup in a bread bowl too of course- and that strawberry shake too!

I used to love coming here when I was vegetarian. Haven't been in a while and saw they had these wonderful vegan options on the menu. I definitely would come back. I enjoyed both items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location can be a little crowded and there wasn't anywhere for us to sit for a bit, but we did finally find a table that opened up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So glad they have vegan sandwich and salad options now I used to absolutely love coming here. I wish they would offer a vegan soup as well so you could do the soup salad combo.

The clam chowder looks a little small for the price, but it's yummy and surprisingly filling...if you eat the bread too
    Patrick ..

The Context: When one thinks of clam chowder, it's hard not to picture Boudin and its bread bowls and ornately bakery items shaped like turtles and alligators. The Food: Naturally I ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl while my wife got the Southwestern chicken salad. The clam chowder serving seemed small at first, but I was satisfied by the end after eating part of most of the bowl's "lid." The salad came in a huge ceramic bowl -- definitely a plus. The Taste: For store-bought clam chowder on the West Coast, it's hard to beat Boudin. It's always consistent and always satisfying. Meanwhile, the salad was quite good. The crispy chicken was moist and flavorful, the avocado fresh and buttery, and the seeds, leaves, and tomatoes were all fresh. The Price: It's definitely not cheap, but the $15+ I paid for the salad was made less painful by the fact that the portion was huge. I was expecting a tiny bowl and like 3 pieces of chicken. Happy to report that Boudin did not cheap out. And while I was hoping for more soup for what we paid for the claw chowder, it's delicious enough to buy again on occasion. The Conclusion: It's a little overpriced, but it's good enough that we'll be back to try the other dishes and soups.

When we ordered the cinnamon roll, there was no option to heat it up, so we thought they would have done it already. When it was served, it was rock solid. So, we asked them to heat it up. However, after a few minutes, it still wasn't that gooey and the inner core was still pretty tough. Perhaps they could have warmed it up so that it was evenly softened. Overall, the cinnamon roll was alright. It was a brioche roll so you would think it might be lighter and fluffy, but ours was pretty dry. However, the cream on top was insanely good. It carried the roll. The hazelnut twist was kind of what you would expect. A twisted pastry but with a hefty amount of hazelnut-chocolate spread thru the layers. We sat in a little nook, where there was a magnetic black board, where there were word tiles you could rearrange in any way. It was a nice place to just look around at all the sentences the community wrote. Chess tables were also available as extra seating. Overall, the service was good, but could be better when warming up pastries, so that the customer can enjoy them properly!

The cashier told us the credit card machine wasn't working, so the only payment options were cash or sending a Zelle payment directly to the owner. There was a small handwritten sticky note with an individual's name and phone number for the Zelle payment, which felt a bit odd. To be fair, there wasn't a large selection available when we visited, so it's possible they have other pastries or desserts that are much better than what we tried. However, based on our experience, the item we purchased was disappointing, and the $12 definitely didn't feel well spent. On the positive side, the décor and overall aesthetic were lovely and were probably the bakery's strongest feature. But as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover... and you can't judge a bakery by its ambience either.

MUST TRY I SIDE NORTHGATE COSTA MESA!…read more I had the iced Mexican chocolate and a churro. The churro was made to order and was delicious. At a price of $3 per churro it did not seem like a bad deal. You can also get an iced chocolate and churros with dip as a combo! The service was quick and efficient even though it was made to order! This is a new concept at the NORTHGATE in Costa Mesa where they have a lot of different restaurants inside the market. This one stood out and did not disappoint. Lost of seating space throughout the market and an easily accessible restroom as well. Lots of parking too. 10/10!!

The service here is a 3 stars for me but the churros are good. The guy working the counter was kind…read moreof rude. No hello or anything. Just awkward silence. I got the combo, which consists of 4 churros, a hot chocolate and dipping sauce. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to choose the type of hot chocolate but he didn't ask. He also didn't ask what type of dipping sauce I wanted. There weren't any customers either, so it's not like they were busy. The churros were made fresh and tasted great except there were some pieces that tasted gummy/still raw. It's crispy and the sugar isn't too sweet. The hot chocolate was pretty good but very sweet. It is also scorching hot. I burnt my mouth twice trying to drink it. The sauce - I wasn't handed or asked what type of sauce I wanted. I had to ask for the sauce, which I was redirected to the ordering counter where there was a stack. Would have been nice if they had just given it to me or asked what I wanted. There's no labels or signs at all and I blindly chose what I assumed to be the cajeta- caramel but it didn't taste like caramel. At first I thought it was expired due to the sour taste, but after tasting it again a few times, it tasted like apple sauce? I'm not sure what it was but it was interesting with the churros.
