It was paired with their clam chowder soup, which was delicious. You can order the soup in a sourdough bowl, which I will try next time. Also ordered the tuna melt with broccoli cheese soup -- do you notice a cheese pattern here?! Both dishes were delicious! Also grabbed The Royals cookie with oatmeal, chocolate chunks and coconut -- yum! Staff was very pleasant-- they bring the order to your table. They also have an iPad kiosk to place your order if you want to skip the line. I'm a big sandwich guy and I was craving a fresh baked baguette sandwich on my way home last Wednesday, so I decided to stop by at Boudin SF. Now I am not too familiar with Boudin, I've had their soups before, but this is the first time I ordered a sandwich, and I was very disappointed. The baguette was so hard to bite into, this made the overall sandwich eating experience truly disappointing. The meat and toppings kept falling out every time I tried taking a bite, squeezing out a piece of that bread. After I was pretty much done my sandwich, I know there's other customers getting their sandwiches on baguette loaves rather than a baguette sub. I had no idea this was an option as this was not even offered to me at the counter when I ordered. And I known this I would've definitely chosen this option. I do like location of this restaurant, situated in a busy strip mall. The service was pretty fast, and while I can say, the sandwich was still tasty, the overall experience because of the baguette was not good at all. Sidenote, if you sign up for their rewards membership, every month, you get a free sourdough baguette to take home with at least a one dollar purchase that month. I forgot how delicious this place is!! The bread is so fresh and crusty.. I split the warm pesto chicken sandwich and a side salad with a friend and it was the perfect amount. A day of shopping and I needed some comfort food at the end of a cold night. What a perfect combination of soup and salad. I really loved the Jim Cobb salad here with the large bits of real bacon, avocado and blue cheese. I probably did not need the bread bowl for the clam chowder but it's the original way to enjoy it. The combination special of choosing two of your favorites is a great choice. The service was quick and staff were really courteous. My all-time favorite is the Pick Two I usually get the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the Asian salad, but I also have to shout out the grilled cheese and tomato soup Pick Two because that combo is superior. They definitely changed the recipe for the Asian salad recently, but it still has the same essence as the old one just feels a bit more refreshed and modern. I love the sourdough here, although this time around the clam chowder leaned a little more potato-heavy than usual. With Boudin, the chowder can be hit or miss: when it's really good, it's really good, and when it's not, it kind of falls in the middle still okay. I also love their rewards program I always put in my phone number and actually get rewards. Every month you get a free sourdough, and sometimes a few dollars off your order, which is such a nice perk. I've been missing out! I thought this was just another "deli-style fast food place and definitely did not expect to enjoy it as much as I had on a recent visit. Very unexpected!!! And so delicious!! Their street fries is fantastic: so crispy, airy fries, it was served hot and savory with their toppings. Texture and flavors are definitely my favorite here. We also tried their crispy chicken sandwich and a pepperoni pizza. The peach shake was another sweet surprise and one I'd definitely revisit to enjoy before it leaves their menu for the season. But, back to that chicken sandwich. The slaw and jalapeños on the chicken sandwich was unique and added a very tasty flavor. The bread/bun was the perfect pillowy and chewy goodness to complement the chicken and slaw. Beyond happy with everything we had ordered. I used to love coming here when I was vegetarian. Haven't been in a while and saw they had these wonderful vegan options on the menu. I definitely would come back. I enjoyed both items. This location can be a little crowded and there wasn't anywhere for us to sit for a bit, but we did finally find a table that opened up. The Context: When one thinks of clam chowder, it's hard not to picture Boudin and its bread bowls and ornately bakery items shaped like turtles and alligators. The Food: Naturally I ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl while my wife got the Southwestern chicken salad. The clam chowder serving seemed small at first, but I was satisfied by the end after eating part of most of the bowl's "lid." The salad came in a huge ceramic bowl -- definitely a plus. The Taste: For store-bought clam chowder on the West Coast, it's hard to beat Boudin. It's always consistent and always satisfying. Meanwhile, the salad was quite good. The crispy chicken was moist and flavorful, the avocado fresh and buttery, and the seeds, leaves, and tomatoes were all fresh. The Price: It's definitely not cheap, but the $15+ I paid for the salad was made less painful by the fact that the portion was huge. I was expecting a tiny bowl and like 3 pieces of chicken. Happy to report that Boudin did not cheap out. And while I was hoping for more soup for what we paid for the claw chowder, it's delicious enough to buy again on occasion. Open-faced crab melt- Served on a crispy soardough toast. They give you a good portion of the crab salad so there's plenty to go with every bite. The dressing has a nice sweetness to it. I've been coming to this location for years and they have the best staff, honestly kudos to the training/hiring process they have! There's currently a mix of seasoned and new associates but I have a great experience regardless of who helps me. I have always wanted to try this place and have always walked by when shopping around here. I heard they have amazing sourdough. While their bread tastes fine, the menu item I ordered which is "new" barely had any meat in it. TBH it's mostly just bread. I ordered the "Sweet & Smokey BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese". Not enough cheese in my opinion, and definitely not enough chicken. For $13, you're better off not getting this. I ordered a small side soup too which was literally only 5 spoonfulls worth of soup. That was an additional $5. What a joke, see photo for how small it is. My sandwich came with Kettle chips, and I love Kettle chips. Unfortunately, these were completely stale. Which doesn't make sense because the expiration date on it hadn't passed. I miiiight come back just to try a cheaper "classic" sandwich. The Sourdough Bread is soft in the inside and has a chewy crust. The clam chowder is always consistent. Soft potatoes, plump clams, and the creamy chowder that pulls everything together. The Dungeness Crab salad had chunks of crab, fresh cherry tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, and slices hard boiled eggs. Perfect pairing for a semi cold rainy day. There was a long line so I used the kiosk option. Done with my order within minutes and my food arrived within 10 min. Good service overall. This was my first time here. All these years i've never tried boudin. I enjoyed the pizza the muffin was a little hard but still good my husband ordered the broccoli and cheddar bowl which was delicious. service was not so good the young girl was def not happy to be there she needs to provide better customer service, she really lacked in this area. i think i would of have 5/5 but really thinking of lowering due to customer service, this is huge in my opinion. ambiance is cute i enjoy all the bread sculpted animals. I dropped in to Boudin SF because I haven't been here in awhile and I was so content! Teresa G. at the register assisted me and she was suchba delightful and happy lady. I asked her about a couple pastries and the tuna melt. "Are they great?" I asked. She quickly responded "Everything here is great!" Done deal! She wasn't wrong. They have THE BEST TUNA MELT here! It was so fresh and quite yummy! A tasty morsel indeed! The lady cleaning the tables (her name was V) was attentive to the other customers and kept everything cleared and neat. I gave 5 stars because the food, service and atmosphere was exceptional. I must say the prices were good as well. Drop by if you are in the area shopping. Their "pick two" lunch special allows you to try a number of their great options in half portions, including their soups, the burger, the patty melts, the delicious BLT, and their garden and caesar salads. The service here is good, and they also have a kiosk you can walk up to and order when it's busy. If I had a complaint, the interior ambiance of the restaurant is hurt by all the dirty tables, the dishes left around, and the very dirty floor. Having employees clean up on a regular schedule would definitely help at this location. read more

The girl taking our order was really rude. We asked her if there was a kids menu since it's not displayed and she looked at us and looked back down at I don't know what and didn't say anything. Luckily I noticed the kids menu options on the paper menu. Then while actually placing the order you could barely hear her, she looked annoyed at everything, even as she helped others after us. At the end we got a receipt and there was no thank you, here's your receipt, nothing. I understand customer service is not prioritized anymore but the lease employees at a food service could answer questions when asked.
