This stand is located in the Collage Food Hall attached to Bloomingdale's at South Coast Plaza. I stopped here for a quick dessert recently and was disappointed. One overburdened young woman was frantically taking and making orders. Customers were getting upset as everything is made to order and it was taking a VERY long time. My order took 20 minutes. I opted for their "Oh My Fudge" specialty which consists of 7 mini churros that have chocolate filling and are covered in gooey chocolate with a white chocolate drizzle and some strawberries on top. Looking over their many coffee options I also asked for an iced biscoff latte. The churros themselves were pretty good. I think the way to go is to just get a plain churro. The chocolate churros were okay but messy, as there is no real way to eat them other than to pick them up with your fingers. I was given plenty of napkins with the order and needed every single one! The white chocolate drizzle didn't add anything to the taste and the tiny pieces of strawberry (it seemed like half a strawberry was diced and tossed on top) didn't add anything either. The iced biscoff latte was served warm but the ice eventually cooled it off. There was no biscoff flavor at all. It just tasted like a regular latte made with terrible coffee. An eight inch super skinny grease filled churro for $5.00 I needed to rinse my mouth out with water, the fryer oil was so bad. A greasy cheese tart for $6.00 smaller than the palm of your hand. Tasteless. Oil all over your fingers. If their oil they fry their product is not hot enough, it permeates the product. Grease inside and out. That is what you get here. No smiles, not greeting, it was obvious the employees hated working there. I should have figured from the business name that churros were their specialty and not a poke sandwich, but I was hungry and the pictures looked good. We tried the spicy tuna crispy rice sandwich and the salmon poke crispy rice sandwich. Please understand that they take 15 minutes to make so be patient. I was hoping that the spicy tuna would be like the ones you get at a sushi restaurant - nope - it was more like cooked tuna. Think sushi patty melt. Hard pass. I've been on a hunt to find a really good biscoff latte. And i found this place, first it's super confusing on how to find this place. Eventually after finding it i was waiting for the cashier to come out but no where in sight. Finally looked over the corner and saw her and i said excuse me and she stated she was working on something in the back. That's fine i understand but the coffee literally tastes like water with a hint of biscoff. I requested iced and it came warm with no ice. The service and churros here were amazing! Churrino is one of the first stands you find on the bottom floor of the South Coast Plaza food court, so after we had lunch we had to try it. I love churros so I was pretty excited. The stand was colorful, and they had a large menu. The menu was pretty scattered across different screens and poster boards, and it's hard to see everything that they offer at once, so I recommend taking your time to look at everything on the menu before ordering. My boyfriend and I ordered the Churro Addict, half plain and half with Chocotella filling, Dark Chocolate Drizzle, Biscoff, and Mini M&Ms. The guy who took our order was so kind and even threw in an extra churro for us since it was our first time there. He made the ordering process super simple and even let us know what to expect from the churros and how to best enjoy them. We waited a couple minutes after getting them to try them (as the cashier recommended) and they were delicious!! The inside was doughy, but they still had a perfectly crispy shell with a great balance of flavor. Personally, the plain pieces without toppings were perfectly sweet, and I found the toppings and fillings to be a little too sweet for my taste, but my boyfriend preferred the Chocotella filled ones with all the toppings. My churro wasn't fried long enough and was raw on the inside. The staff member working claimed that it was their style of churro and that it was supposed to be like this. The dough was raw on the inside. I understand if it was supposed to be "extra soft" but for it to taste like raw flour is too much. In Brazil you find way bigger, more filling, and a fraction of the price for a "pie". $6 for a tiny square that has one slice of pepperoni and one slice of cheese is annoying. And it had so much grease it wasn't even edible. I put a screenshot of a real Brazilian pastel just to show the difference (see pics) They're better off with sticking with just churros, hence the name. Really a shame. Ice cream itself was alright. Better basic vanilla is available at grocery stores. Packaging is cute and all, but kind of excessive..and unnecessary??? Like I don't need a cardboard box for my churros and ice cream. I can just hold them. Definitely a novelty kind of place where you go once. Kids will love this.
