The original Pie Not was exceptional. The current version is still a solid pie shop, but in my opinion it has moved from great to good. That is not a criticism so much as an observation from someone who enjoyed the original experience. One piece of feedback I would offer relates to the menu. Traditional Australian meat pies are typically built around minced beef, which many would consider the cornerstone of the category. Surprisingly, minced beef is no longer on the menu. I asked the girl at the cashier about it, and she said that she has never heard of the minced beef pie since she started working there and that she has been working there for a long time! While there are still several good options available, removing the most classic filling feels a bit like visiting a burger restaurant only to find chicken and veggie burgers, but no beef burger. The pies are still enjoyable, and I would recommend the shop to anyone looking for a good savory pie. However, for those seeking a traditional Australian pie experience, the absence of a classic minced beef option is noticeable and, frankly, a little disappointing. If the owners ever revisit the menu, bringing back a traditional minced beef pie would be a welcome addition. I had high expectations for Pop Pie, but unfortunately my experience left me disappointed. I purchased a chicken pot pie, a sausage roll, a key lime pie, and five frozen pot pies. Before leaving, I asked the cashier whether the Butter Chicken Pot Pie was any good. He told me it was actually better than the Classic Chicken Pot Pie. Since I hadn't eaten or even opened my Classic Chicken Pot Pie, I immediately asked if I could exchange it for the Butter Chicken Pot Pie. The pie was still in its original box, untouched, and I hadn't handled the food itself. The entire bag was sitting at the counter since my sausage roll was still baking. The cashier refused, saying that once I had "touched it," he couldn't exchange it because a health inspector could fine the store. I explained that the food itself had never been opened or touched, but he still refused. I understand that stores have policies, but the explanation didn't make sense given that the product was unopened and the recommendation to switch came from the cashier himself after I had already made my purchase. A simple exchange would have been great customer service, especially considering everything else I bought. The food may be good, but based on this experience, I won't be returning.
