Selling hot dogs topped with Mac & Cheese

$1.50 ikea hot dog topped with MAC & cheese?!?! Better than a Costco $1.50 hot dog? Well my sons say yes but do I? NOPE!

    Terry M.

Your last chance to grab something before you go. Mainly some frozen items and cookies/candy, but they do have hotdogs as well. That said, just go back upstairs and get you some meatballs! The ambiance is hectic, and I feel like the line/waiting area is kinda disorganized, but whatever. Again, go back upstairs and get a proper meal. :P

Great pit stop after you shop! IKEA has a food court and a kid play area. Lots of room to sit and eat or you can take to go. There are also frozen items to buy for home cooking. Soda fountain and desserts available too! Lots of good deals weekly. Check them out.

For all the food I got for the price I got, $18 for three plates of food I can't complain. But I'd say 10 years ago in my opinion this place was a delicious place to have lunch. It tastes the same as it did 10-15 years ago, maybe it's because as we get older our taste palate gets more refined and obviously everything I ate here is processed. But no matter what I'd still come back for nostalgic reasons

The four chicken strips, was approximately $16. They looked healthy and good all the prices are excellent, but I think that the chicken strips were a little pricey for IKEA. - this is in comparison to the other items offered price-wise. There seem to have been a special needs school field trip or work experience outing today, that were enjoying their lunch, at the café. Sidenote; I couldn't find salad dressing, but apparently it was with the other condiment pumps. Additionally, if you want a to go bag, there aren't any, but they will give you a small food foldable box. We actually went here at 8 AM in the morning for breakfast, but they don't open till 10 AM. Also, some of the patrons, probably should've used the restroom facilities prior. Our family changed our seating location twice. - due to this.

One thing about me is that I love IKEA meatballs. If you ever get lost in IKEA, then you might stumble across their bistro or cafe-- or you can just follow the signs lol. The food is good, not great but not bad. It's a furniture store though, so there's nothing more to expect. Their meatballs are a quick and easy meal when you're balling on a budget. Let's be so real, it's kinda like an elevated microwave dinner. The service is also simple and easy.

I like coming here and trying out their hot dishes. This cafe is located upstairs but their showroom areas. This time I saw a few that I ah ent tried before and that's their smoke salmon salad (delicious) and their butter cod plate with mashed potatoes and peas. Both are quite tasty. There's always a long line so you have to be patient in getting your food. I like how they have mini trays and mini carts for you to carry your food to your table. Large dining area and good places for kids to play as well. One less star because they also put some cookies and wafers at this cafe but when I went to ask how much it was at the register, the staff didn't know as it couldn't ring up. She told me to go downstairs to buy it. What if my kids wanted to eat it now? I hope the fix this problem fast.

i love coming to ikea for an easy dinner whenever i'm in the area. the restaurant is easy to find on the second floor. there's many options to choose from but i enjoy the meatball meal. they also have desserts and other options to choose from. there is plenty of seating but it can get pretty busy during rush hour. the tables are pretty clean. service is standard, nothing amazing. although the cashier was very nice on the day i went.

Ikea Costa Mesa is great for furniture and variety, but the food service and checkout process really need improvement. The food court was painfully slow, only one person working, and the line was insane. It took forever just to grab a meal. The same issue happens at checkout, not enough cashiers, and the self-checkout line moves at a snail's pace. It's frustrating when everything else about the store is so well organized. Hope they add more staff to make the experience smoother!

I stopped by to meet some people at IKEA and also to check the furniture prices. I saw that they have a bistro here, so I decided to grab a hot dog and a cup of hot coffee. Everything you see in the photo cost me 3 dollars. I recommend it to everyone. Thank you

Convenient to order at the kiosk and receive your food fairly quickly. I can never just go to ikea without grabbing an ice cream cone. This time I tried their hot dog with toppings and it was surprisingly very satisfying! If you're an IKEA family member, you could get a free cup of coffee too. Simple but YUMS.

The store is okay, prices have increased of course but decent selection of new items. My complaint is that I went down to the Cafe for some snacks and I am disgusted by the filthy floors, covered in spills, dirty footprints, dirty chairs, filthy tables, just GROSS!!! So they have self checkouts to save money on employees, so no employees to actually mop the filth all over the place!! Do you think it is this way in Sweden, I Highly doubt that. Come on IKEA, pick up the pace!!!

    Kay D.

Always nice service and decent food, I love their meatballs. Only thing is for to go food they have like no real utensils and if your in a rush there's no way to just get food and walk out the door your gonna be walking for a minute.

I'm sorry, what? I'm eating here because my mom is in rehab following her stroke. She was previously at Fountain Valley Hospital, and that cafeteria sucked. This cafeteria is phenomenal by comparison. They have a grill section with burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and quesadillas. Today, I had their special, which was a santa fe burger with pepper jack cheese, BBQ sauce, onion rings, and pickled jalepenos. Fire. They have another section that rotates between tacos, carnitas, and other items, always with sides of rice, beans, mixed steamed veggies, etc. They have a huge salad bar that's constantly restocked and always very fresh. They have 2-3 soups each day, stuff like vegetarian lentil soup, coconut curry soup, traditional chili, clam chowder, etc. Solid soups. I presume they have solid breakfast, but I'm not a morning person, so I wouldn't know. Huge selection of bottled/canned juices, soft drinks, etc., plus a regular soda fountain. Today, they had a special homemade strawberry lemonade, which was so refreshing after that burger today. Oh and a wide variety of packaged snacks, candy, and other junk food, plus soft serve ice cream, because why not. Hopefully, you or your loved ones don't end up in the hospital. But if you do, and its this one, at least you don't have to suffer at meal time.

I was a little appalled by the $14 price tag on their garden avocado toast, but after receiving the dish, I'll admit that it's on the larger side. This thick slice of bread comes loaded with the most colorful fermented veggies. You'll notice variety of pickled seasonal vegetables, chives, and cherry tomatoes. Café Rose Express by Turnip Rose is absolutely one of those gems. Every time I dine here, I walk away impressed. The food is consistently well-executed, thoughtfully prepared, and always delicious. Today I tried the Three Cheese Melt, made with cheddar, provolone, and gouda. What really elevated it were the ultra-thin tomato slices...just enough acidity to brighten the sandwich and keep it from feeling too heavy. Paired with the crunchy sourdough, it was easily a 10/10. Honestly, one of the best grilled cheeses I've had in a long time. I also ordered the soup of the day: pork and shrimp wonton soup. Another standout...perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. Even in the small cup, I counted at least five wontons. Solid 9/10. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with great food, I highly recommend visiting Café Rose Express. You are going to need either "Waze" or "Google Maps" direction to this restaurant as it is on the university grounds, but in the area that is lease to corporate tech businesses (and probably other industries) because it is the back half of the office building. There is plenty of free parking, along with handicap access. They have daily specials, but today I decided to have their hamburger and fries along with a drink (they have many varieties of different cold or hot drinks to choose from) I also decided to order a larger than a cup tomato bisque soup. This is an old school ordering ystem where you place your order with the nice cash register lady (that I presume was part of the family) Don't be discouraged if you have to wait a little bit because to my surprise, the food was excellent! And for the prices that I've paid I couldn't believe it. The prices here on the menu are quite reasonable. Other places they would probably charge you double. The hamburger was assembled very and paper wrapped tightly and very tasty along with their fries. I was amazed how well the tomato bisque soup tasted. It was very good and very hot. I hate when I get soup and it's lukewarm or that it doesn't taste like what you thought it should taste like, . Don't be turned off or discouraged when you go inside the building to see that it is a little dark and open tables, trust me you won't be disappointed because of the low price menu items and the quality of the tasty food that they serve. I'm also presuming that it is a family run establishment so that's another plus! I saw on their menu that they have reasonable prices for breakfast items such as a breakfast burrito(s) and another breakfast items. They had a good selection of salads and hot and cold sandwiches to choose from. And from the amount of people that was standing in line to order, you could tell that none of their menu items or breads have been sitting all day getting stale. This is not the case here everything is fresh. Again, I will say that the young lady at the cash register, probably the mother was very nice and helpful and suggest suggesting items and placing my order. When I'm in the area, I will definitely be going back unfortunately because of this on a great review that I'm giving them, the customer ordered line will probably be longer! But hey, that's OK. I really like to see family businesses be successful in the city of Irvine as most restaurants are usually corporate and you get that corporate attitude and lower quality of food. Here it is the complete opposite. Again, the parking is free. I didn't get a chance to see the inside bathrooms, but I have a hunch that they are nice and cleaned. Next time I go, I will try their egg salad sandwich from what I saw other people at the tables eating it, it appeared to be the style that is either Japanese or Korean style egg salad sandwiches which I really like.
