We're doing a complete redo on our home office as well as kicking out our old kitchen table and chairs. Frankly, when walking into this store I wanted to buy half of the items I saw...and still might! After a lot of hemming and hawing we picked out a new table, chairs and bookcase. They were set to be delivered in about a week, but after a few days at home doing some head scratching and more measuring we decided to axe the table and go with another we initially thought wouldn't fit. We worked with Santos who was very patient and helpful in changing our order (at no cost...there IS a 14 day return policy). Items were delivered and installed today in about 45 minutes. Just need the chairs to get here in a couple weeks and we're good to go. That is, until I go back and plunk down some green for that living room chair I spent a lot of time in whilst the wife worked with Santos. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Scandinavian furniture but I really love this store. read more

I wanted to like this place... but I feel like the experience was middling at best. We ordered over $10k worth of furniture which we waited six months for due to it being a custom order. Well when it arrived in Seattle (NOT irvine), I called and they said it was in the US, so I asked if I could come and pay for it after the items arrived in Irvine. Apparently they can't do that...? So I asked what happens if there's any issues, shouldn't we be able to see it first before paying the remaining balance? Turns out we can't for whatever reason. So far it's not so great, but we'll move on. We show up to pay for the remaining balance, get all the paperwork squared away and.... they give us a postit to contact someone on gmail set up delivery. BRO LIKE WHAT?! We literally bought over $10k worth of furniture and you want us to set up delivery ourselves, after forcing us to come and pay for things we can't even see ahead of time? Good thing furniture isn't bought frequently cause I aint ever coming back here, let alone recommending this place to anyone. What's the point of employees and a showroom if you just make the customer do everything themselves anyway... sheesh. read more

recently bought a carpet from Scandinavian Designs, and this morning I discovered many worms/larvae (around 20) under it. I am pregnant and cannot use any chemical treatments at home. My daughter spent a lot of time on this carpet and developed skin rashes, even needing medication prescribed by the doctor. When I went to the store, I was told to wait until my husband returned before I could bring the carpet back, which was completely unacceptable. I had to spend the entire day pushing for a solution, and finally they agreed to send someone to pick up the carpet tomorrow. Still, they only offered to take it away -- with no replacement or compensation -- leaving me without a carpet after all the stress, wasted time, and the impact on my child's health. Customers deserve better support and responsibility from a company like this. read more

This review is about a year overdue. At the end of 2023 we ordered the set below. The table arrived first, then, the bench, and the around March 24, the five chairs which required assembly. One of the chairs was missing a bracket which is pictured below. Each chair was supposed to have two of these brackets. However one of the chairs was missing a bracket. When I called the store, they offered to let me trade the chair with the missing bracket for one of their chairs on display. So i drove to the store intending to trade. However all the chairs on display had some form of damage and one of the display chairs was also missing the same bracket. I informed the sales rep of the missing bracket. Since none of the display chairs was flawless, i was told to just remove the needed bracket from one of the other display chairs. Since they couldn't provide the tools I had to go back home to retrieve my own tools. I went back, removed the needed bracket from a display, went back home and finished the assembly of my chair at home. Assuming that was the end of the story, I was surprised and insulted when i received a text from the sales lady (i think her name was Jocelyn) asking if I took an extra bracket because they found one missing from their display. I reminded her that when I was there i had pointed out one of their displays was also missing a bracket. I also told her that there was no reason for me to take an extra bracket. i pointed it would serve no purpose and that there was no market for OEM chairs. I also told her that she and staff should have reviewed security footage before accusing me of pilfering an extra part. It's ridiculous they thought i took two trips from costa mesa so i could carry out an elaborate scheme to steal a little piece of wood to make a few dollars on some unknown secondary market. read more

We purchased a custom leather sectional (custom because we didn't pick the default white leather color), paying over $8000 and waited over 6 months for it to arrive. Once it arrived, we noticed the stitching on one of the pieces to the sectional was completely crooked and lopsided. We called our sales associate to let them know about this irritating issue that should be taken seriously and immediately but we kept getting the runaround of.... I will let my manager know and he will get back to you. Well it's been.... Shall we say nearly months with no resolution, not even an apology. We are very unhappy with this situation, every day I see this couch with its crooked stitching it bothers me immensely. We paid top dollar for this! I made my first purchase here almost 10 years ago and I was back here today to pick up lamps I purchased a week ago. Perhaps a different price range from my other favorite stores like Restoration Hardware but I make sure to visit Scandinavian Designs first before I look elsewhere. When I moved recently I brought all of my nearly 10 year old Scandinavian Designs furnitures with me and they still look gorgeous. The pickup department of the store closes at 4pm and today I arrived at 3:59pm. I felt like a jerk for getting there at a time when the employees there should be clocking out but Robert and Alfredo were beyond kind and helpful. If you're looking for modern furniture without the big price tags, this is the place. The showroom was quite large and had a good variety. We were able to purchase dining room chairs, accent chairs, motorized couch, and a few planters. The sale was very generous. As for quality, so far it's been a few months and we're pretty happy. I only took a star off because the furniture is low, comparable to ikea and because often the delivery is delayed due to low inventory. But that just means they are popular. read more

The experience is 5 stars depending on who you get. I knew I wanted to go to Scandinavian Designs to furnish our new house. My parents have had their furniture forever and it's still in fantastic condition; they bought theirs from Scandinavian designs. I liked their overall aesthetic and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. The customer service threw me off a bit at first. They don't have the "stalk you" level of service that you get at Ashley Home (thank god) but they also don't really acknowledge you either? I personally don't mind walking around by myself unattended. The challenge is after you've decided what you want. We probably stood by the desk for a good 7-10 minutes before someone finally acknowledged us even though there were no other customers. I don't know what the people standing around do the whole time. Kurtis had just finished helping someone else when he saw us and actually asked us if we had been helped. He was professional and friendly. Since he was the only person in the store to help us I decided to do all of our purchases solely with him. After buying our couch we agreed we had a couple other pieces in mind. I called the store and specifically asked for him. I asked him for his schedule so we could make sure we bought for him so he could get commission. Their delivery service is also really great! I appreciate that they call you the day before to give you a window, and then call you again to tell you they're 10 minutes away. The delivery guys are incredibly friendly and they're efficient. Overall a positive experience... you'd probably get the best experience with Kurtis! read more

We finished our home renovation and had started to purchase new furniture for our entire home. Most of our shopping starts online and then we eventually get to the store to make sure this is exactly what we want. At first, we weren't that impressed with the furniture displayed online, but when looking at their pieces in the store, we really liked a lot of their stuff and their prices were usually cheaper than CB2, Room and Board, or Pottery Barn and I think their quality is equally as good. Anyway, so far, we've purchased a desk, filing cabinets (stylish filing cabinets are really hard to find and these were actually cheaper than Ikea), and a bookcase. What's nice is that everything matches and makes our office uniform. Shipping was only $99 and that also included assembly of the furniture. They did such a great job with the delivery and assembly (not being a day late like West Elm which is almost 2 months late with our sofa), that we decided to also purchase counter stools and a coffee table. Again, delivery and set-up was excellent and after assembly, they placed everything exactly where we wanted it located in our home. Although not all their furniture fits our style, the ones that we liked look great and are well made. My original review was for the Huntington Beach location which has since closed. I went to the Irvine store with a list of items I had decided to purchase. I had finally decided to purchase additional pieces from a particular line I admired. Stressless chair Headboard Night stand Dresser and mirror I only needed to figure out what style of stressless chair I was going to purchase to replace the Human touch chair I had purchased from this same company (Plummers) years before. Unfortunately, while sitting in the stressless chair section I encountered a very rude sales person. The encounter was so disconcerting that I immediately left the store. I was polite and spoke in pleasant manner. The sales person was haughty, rude and had no issues behaving in a condescending manner. I felt as if this person thought I was beneath shopping in her store. After discussing the situation with a friend, who was also interested in purchasing a stressless chair, it was decided that we would go back the next day together. I had another extremely rude encounter in the stressless chair section with a different sales person who apparently was sent over by the previous sales person as she picked up where the last person left off. I immediately I got up to leave the store as I had no intention of engaging with this unreasonable person but my exit was blocked with the sales persons body. You know accidental dance set that happens... I would go one way she would step into my path all the while speaking to me as if I where a child who needed to be put in my place. I then politely asked the person to step aside so that I may leave the store. Strangely she seemed shocked at my request? At this point my companion, who was across the floor looking at other furniture, observed the interaction and was walking over to join me. As my companion approached the sales person turned her back on me and addressed my companion. Offering to answer any questions related to the stressless chairs. My companion said no thank you and indicated that they where leaving with me. Then the sales person rapidly stalked away from us both. Now if that were not bad enough the sales person went directly over to the sales person from the previous day and they both proceeded to openly ridiculed us in raised voices with the obvious intention of letting us know how they felt. I was dumbfounded, their response to our politeness was to act like two high schoolers. It was if they had been reenacting a scene from Mean Girls or something!?! All of my living room and dining room furniture had come from this company and my intent was to purchase all new bedroom furniture from them as well as a Stressless chair. My companion was in the process of gutting and remodeling a 2nd home in the desert and was interested in finding furniture for every room. My guess is that these individuals do not work on commission and that certainly do not care about the company they work for. I have never been treated in such a horrible manner by any company I will never purchase from them again. If you decided to shop with this company I hope at least you will not do it at the Irvine location. If you do go to this location remember to wear pink if its Wednesday. They were both rude and they did not care at all that the customers were upset. They could care less. They look dull and they have no interest. Their Headquarters need to know about this. My furniture was not delivered correctly and yet with their mistakes they did not make it right for us immediately. I generally do not write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one this time because the company needs to address a critical quality control issue. I have been purchasing furniture from Scandinavian Design for years (even before the name change when the company was called Plummers). The furniture quality is excellent and well put together. However, I can't say I was even a bit impressed with my most recent delivery. I ordered a Gammel Lateral File recently and it was delivered pre-assembled with damages. Not only were there damages, there were dirty hand prints with either blood/food stains all over the lateral filing cabinet. Damage is understandable since it happens, but seriously, food/blood stains + dirty handprints all over?! Totally unacceptable and disgusting... I called the sales office to voice my concern and to request a replacement. It was initially scheduled for a replacement on a set date.... no one showed up even after confirming the date and delivery time. I called the sales office to see what's going on and one of the sales person said there was an error in setting up the delivery... The delivery folks were set to pick up the replacement from the sales office instead of the warehouse.... What?! The sales person was also confused... I guess my sales woman was careless and didn't do a good job setting up the delivery logistics... After the initial replacement delivery ordeal, the item was eventually replaced. During the replacement, I made some disturbing observations. The lateral file was clearly assembled incorrectly. Honestly, whoever assembled this shouldn't be working at the company anymore... As the damaged parts were being replaced, i noticed that the RAILS WEREN'T EVEN BOLTED in on both of the drawers! No wonder the drawers felt weird when sliding them out. Absolutely unacceptable! To add to the incorrect assembly, the plastic stoppers were installed in the wrong location.... Seriously, a Doctorate isn't required to assemble these. Whoever assembled this was clearly LAZY and ABSOLUTELY careless! I found out through the delivery person (3rd party contractor) that the item was assembled at the company's warehouse. In the past, the delivery folks assembled the pieces during the delivery and I've had no problems. Here is the lesson learned: The best/most professional sales person to work with is Curtis at the Irvine branch. He knows how to take care of his customers. From a quality standpoint, the company should have the delivery folks assemble during delivery or retrain its warehouse employees.... Currently, the warehouse employees neglect to take basic care and they are clearly lazy. I've spent in excess of $30k on Plummers/Scandinavian Designs over the years and almost $20k in the past 2 years. Without the company addressing this specific issue, I will no longer purchase Scandinavian's furniture. read more

The store was spacious, beautiful with a huge selections and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient. The pickup was easy. Sometimes it appeared that the shop assistants were not taking me as a serious customer (maybe due to the kids running around) and did not offer much attention.
