I ordered the Mango Mania smoothie which I enjoyed except for the part where the lid cut my cuticle which hurt like a b****. Cheap lids are cheap for this reason. And I get very upset when anything messes up my hands considering what I do for a living. Aside from that, I ordered the Curry Chicken Salad. I was feeling faint and had to eat something, and I asked the Cashier a few questions which she relayed to the owner who had NO CLUE what ingredients were in the seasonings they used and to make their food.... This was REALLY offputting for me, because I am allergic to gluten. The salad was bitter and the combination of greens weren't pleasant. (How do you make a bad salad?) To top it all off, the 2 scoops of curry chicken-tuna-looking thing was over-salted and the actual curry seasoning was plain/flat for something as flavorful as curry should be. I made some attempts to eat it and I couldn't. Too salty! It was soo upsetting. And the worst part was the stomach ache it left me with. Great cozy coffee shop. There is not much noise compared to Starbucks, which makes it a great studying environment and the workers there are super friendly. I have personally tried everything on the menu without bias and I can confidently say that they make everything much better than other coffee shop competitors. I believe the main attractions are the prices of menu items. You get the right amount for the right price and the quality is beyond which you pay. The area surrounding Hyper Coffee is completely family friendly. Enough so that even children from the school literally just down the street can go there and feel safe. I came here for the first time on tuesday and I have to say, this place is pretty bomb. It wasn't my first time eating their food, though. My friend brought me one of their paninis while i was at work this one time during summer and it was delicious. When I went in for an early lunch (around 11), there weren't that many people there and the atmosphere was very laid back and cozy. They have board games and free wifi to pass the time away. I split a chicken with basil pesto and a chicken cordon bleu with my friend and it was soo good/savory/delicious/perfect combinations. The bread was perfectly crisp on the outside, the fresh tomatoes and greens, the chicken/ham perfectly heated, the cheese that just melted into the sandwich... it just came together beautifully. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My experience there was really warm. Even the workers there try to make everything comfortable for you. While my friend and I were waiting for our food, we started a game of chess and when our food came out, the guy there moved another table to where we were sitting so that we would have enough space to eat and play. Sigh... I feel like I've given this cafe more than enough opportunities to impress or even satisfy me. I've been coming here quite often since April, 2014 and am just not motivated to come here anymore. I'll start off saying that I really like the Nuttin' Honey drink. The drinks overall are pretty good. They've got a great selection of cold and hot beverages and can suggest something if you don't know what to get. It's the food that bothers me. I've tried their rolls, paninis, sandwiches, bagels, and salads. They all seem like menu items that I can easily make at home, but I'd make them taste better. :T This morning I ordered the Caesar Chicken Salad and unfortunately ordered it as To-Go. When I got to my office and started eating, I noticed that some of the chicken pieces were chewy. I spit a piece out and found it raw. I ripped it apart to make sure and it was indeed completely raw. If I had dined in, I would have said something. However, because I was already a distance away, I didn't bother. I just won't come here again. Although I believe that their coffee is just alright, I have to give them an extra star for their service. The owner and her staff are all very kind and often quite attentive to customers. I had ordered an iced drink, received it hot, but was debating whether or not to actually say anything. But without even mentioning anything, the owner came to me to check in to see if there was anything wrong. I mentioned that I ordered it iced, and she immediately went to fix the issue without charge. That was amazing! I've come here multiple times, ordered from a range of a dirty chai to their hazelnut latte, but every time their coffee hasn't been stand out. I have been coming to this coffee shop about once a week for several months, as I work close by. I have found the staff to be very friendly, personable, and positive. I have had their food (a panini sandwich) and it was great. Their coffee is fine, as well as their overall drink menu. The only issues I have is that when I go in there in the middle of the day it is very warm, I don't think they have any AC. For someone hanging out there during the day, the temperature could be cooler during these summer months. Overall, a nice place, and I will keep going. read more

I can definitely see the First Ave. middle school kids bombarding the place after school hours. It's a small petite café with a few tables for outdoor lounging on those nice days in SGV. They have seating inside and a small area in the backyard patio as well. Red Eye - Espresso and house coffee had a nice smooth and strong taste. They added the cream and I pour my amount of sugar (probably should've asked for syrup). I see the sandwich menus and maybe I will try one my next trip back to Arcadia. Located on 1st in a typical setting of 'Main street U.S.A" except you're surrounded by hot pot restaurants and Asian stores. We are of course in Arcadia. My morning rounds are met with the usual patrons; dog walkers or owner's who take their pets to the doggy salon next door, employees getting their morning rounds, and locals. Prices are on the higher end which is expected among smaller mom and pop shops. Please support those! House coffee is reasonably priced and their White Cow is a bit too sweet for my taste. I asked for a cup of ice for my soda and you would have thought I wanted filtered cubes brought to room temperature. I came for lunch and can not speak about the coffee beverages. This place is small and has "free wifi". I ordered the caprese panini and added chicken. It was good but nothing I couldn't make at home. The serving is large and comes with chips or a rabbit lettuce salad. Unfortunately, I felt compelled to eat both halves of the sandwich because you know that it would not be tasty reheated as left overs. There is a $10 minimum for using a debit card. Of course, you're forced to buy additional items because the sandwich and soda totaled $8. Plenty of parking but don't try to go in the 2:30-3:00 hour because it's a local hangout for the middle school kids who walk over as soon as the bell rings. Hyper Coffee is like the sanctuary for Arcadians who don't want Starbucks. Or TapEx. It is tiny, almost always warm, and buzzing with the whirr of blenders. Helen, the owner, is very nice and remembers frequent customers. The place offers generous discounts to students in any Arcadia schools (except the elementary schools). Photo ID is required for purchase. Their coffees can be quite costly. I've never tried their paninis, but they look and sound appetizing. I recommend their "steamer," boiling milk with an added flavour. Vanilla and Caramel are written on their menu, but don't hesitate to ask for hazelnut (or maybe almond.) read more

Yay Hyper Coffee! Another place my little sister introduced me to. We got the toasted panini sandwiches and they were pretty damn good. I tried the chicken pesto panini and it comes with a side salad for about $6 or $7. I didn't try the salad, because the sandwich filled me quite well. But my sister said the dressing is pretty good. This is my favorite mom n pop's local coffee shop! The coffee tastes better than Starbucks and the overall shop has a very homey feel to it. I always get the latte with non fat milk and a panini with a salad on the side. If you have time, enjoy your coffee in this joint because they give you a big ass mug to enjoy it in! The salad dressing is homemade and they drizzle it ever so nicely on the fresh salad. The panini sandwiches are so simple yet so divine. The Cordon Bleu one is the best. I came here today looking for a place to get some work done and have lunch. I usually go to Zephyr in Pasadena but I didn't feel like driving so far today and Hyper Coffee was just close enough. The atmosphere is very laid-back and quiet here, which I loved. I tried the iced latte and the caprese panini and both were delicious. I also came in the middle of the day so there was ample street parking right in front. Price-wise, it was average - nothing to write home about but it wasn't crazy exuberant either. Hyper Coffee is my absolute favorite place to get cafe drinks. The owner and staff are always remarkably considerate and friendly, and their service is excellent. I can always count on a fast drink, and if there will be a bit of a wait they are sure to let me know ahead of time. The drinks on the menu are delicious but run a bit sweet. If you prefer less sweet, they are more than happy to make accommodations to the ingredients. The salads and sandwiches are excellent, too, and I used to regularly get one of their lunch specials that comes with a drink and a salad or chips. Awesome, free wifi!! unlike the other Starbucks I went to the other day that teamed up with TMobile and therefore charged. grr. They even have a computer so you can use (if no one's already on it). Beware, I think middle schoolers like to come and go on MySpace. If you have little tolerance for that kind of stuff, don't come here after school. They also have games. :) I learned how to play Chinese Checkers right here! One of their tables is a chess table too... neat.
