    Strawberry Matcha Latte
    Celia R.

Staff was amazing! I'm excited they reopened, since working in the area i've been looking for a good matcha spot for my daily craving. It was so yummy, the strawberry milk tasted like real strawberries (without any artificial flavors). The matcha wasn't too sweet with an umami and a rich creamy taste. It was the perfect balance ! Definitely will be coming back to try more flavors and combinations!

It's back! Great service. I got a 16 oz pistachio latte with salted vanilla cream top. $8.50. Pricey but delicious and smooth. Not too sweet.

This is a hidden coffee shop in Monrovia. I see that many complain about the wait time but there is usually only one person in there and personally I don't mind the wait. It takes time to make a good latte. I am definitely going again.

Lavender matcha w/cream top, lavender matcha, & Lavender latte

It was located inside the acai place. Just gonna go straight to the point... My lavender latte was ok. It wasn't bad for the price. The lavender flavor was there. The matcha lavender was a different story. The lavender flavor in the matcha was nonexistent. Also, for the price the size was really small. Adding cream top was an extra $1.50 so it was super expensive, imo. However, the bigger problem was the drink itself. It wasn't good. The matcha was lacking and like I mentioned...the lavender was nonexistent. Most likely will not return. Street parking avail Service was ok

Hideout Coffee (est 2025/04) is a tiny new to-go-cafe shop located on Lime ave in Monrovia. It's a fast growing cafe serving coffee, matcha, chai, and more! As the name denotes, this coffee shop is inside an old brick wall building with a small window on the side street facing east of Monrovia Public Library. It has no outdoor or indoor seats because it wasn't design to be a sit in coffee shop. Nevertheless, they offer a modest variety of coffee and tea which can be hot or cold. I visited this coffee shop today-Memorial Day- and had a great experience. It is beautiful. I ordered a 12oz Rose Latte which was a traditional latte with the addition of subtle sweet, floral notes. Its rose flavor was not strong or over powering. If you enjoy a traditional latte, this one is worth trying. Staff was cordial and professional. Service was spot on. Prices were fair and competitive. Finding parking was easy. Collectively, this was a good to-go- coffee shop find. Overall, I enjoyed my latte and their service. I recommend and hope you support this tiny coffee shop.

Small little cafe in downtown Monrovia! I think it used to be located on the side of the building but it moved inside the açaí place. The menu is small but I really liked the matcha latte! It already comes sweetened with agave so it's perfect if you like your latte on the sweeter side. There was a little bit of a wait since there's just one staff working but they're super friendly! Lots of street parking and located around a lot of cute stores for you check out after you get your coffee/matcha!

Pistachio latte- really good! They include little bits of pistachio inside the coffee. It has really strong pistachio taste so if you're not that big of a fan you might not like it. Sometimes it looks like there's only one person working. They'll be taking orders and making the coffee so the line will be really long. I've had to walk away from the wait times before. The 12oz coffee is also the standard and really small. You're better off getting a 16oz with the amount of ice they put on the iced drinks. The coffee is pricey but I can confidently say they're making really great coffee. Given the size to price ratio of the drinks and really long wait times, it's still 4 stars for me. It's worth a try every once in a while.

Old Town will have a new coffee spot opening Dec 1st next to Acai Bar!

Cute new coffee spot in great location in Old Town! Really nice iced pistachio latte, friendly service every time I've been, and decent prices. It's a sorta-hidden little walk up window with no indoor access or outdoor seating so come prepared - but it's right across from Library Park which has plenty of benches and seating opportunities - or just enjoy a walk around Old Town with your coffee! I've stopped by a few times and the staff have always been very welcoming and friendly. We've tried the iced pistachio latte as I mentioned, as well as the blueberry latte and lavender latte (both hot). The pistachio latte has been my fave - iced is a great version and it even has little pieces of pistachio nuts in it, which I loved. The blueberry latte was also really nice - creamy with a mild blueberry flavor - and both of these weren't too sweet which I appreciated. And while I enjoyed the blueberry, I think it would've been much better iced. The lavender latte was my least fave - their espresso has a lovely flavor depth in all the lattes - but the lavender was very bitter and I just couldn't drink much of it. I definitely wouldn't get this again. They offer pastries now too - sometimes muffins and sometimes other varieties. They're right behind Açaí Bar and easy to find. Their prices are pretty decent for the area and I look forward to trying the strawberry latte next time!

We tried the pistacchio and lavender latte! Both were really good and the girls working here were also so sweet and answered our questions. There was no line when we came and plenty of parking but we also came at 10am on a week day so I'm sure on weekends and early mornings there is more of a line. The building is really beautiful that it's in, but there will be no seating so it's definitely grab and go. There are also limited food options here and only one kind of muffin when we came so you may need to grab food elsewhere. Otherwise we had no complaints!

Hideout Coffee is located in Old Town Monrovia, across from Monrovia Library Park and tucked behind Açaí Bar. I've walked past this spot multiple times, always curious about the closed door. Today, I finally saw it open and was surprised to find that it's just a small window booth for ordering coffee, not a sit-down café. There was a surprisingly decent line of people waiting to order, which speaks to its popularity. The concept is interesting--it's not a place to hang out, but rather a grab-and-go coffee spot. The menu offers all the classic options, including coffee, espresso, chai, and matcha, with prices ranging from $3.50 to $7. Overall, It's definitely more of a quick stop than a destination, but I'm intrigued by its unique setup.

The store is located in downtown Monrovia right across from the library. You can find street parking or park in the nearby lots. There is no seating. It's a grab and go spot. We tried the pistachio latte and salted matcha cream top. They charge the salted matcha cream top as $8 instead of $7. When I asked her but the menu says $7 she said "yea the menu is wrong". Both drinks were good but $8 for matcha is a bit steep. I actually had a buy one get one 50% off coupon; otherwise I'm not sure I would pay $8 for it in the future. Also the line is pretty long. While waiting for my drinks I saw some people get in line...then out of line.

This grab-and-go coffee shop just opened in Old Town Monrovia, and it has a really cute aesthetic. I was excited to try it since I'm always here, but my experience was a bit underwhelming. I originally wanted the chai with the cream top, but they told me they didn't have it--which was odd for a coffee shop considering it was Sunday at 9 AM. It didn't seem busy, so I'm not sure if they ran out or just didn't prep it for the day. I ended up ordering a chai with an espresso shot instead. The service was also a bit off. It took a while to order and get my drink, and the girl who helped me just stared without saying much or acknowledging the wait. As for the drink, it was just okay-- watery taste and not as smooth as I expected. It reminded me of a latte that had been sitting out too long with melted ice. I might give this place another try in case it was just an off day or a barista issue, but overall, it didn't leave the best first impression.

    Iced Matcha w/ Foam

Hideout is a grab-and-go coffee shop in downtown Monrovia. I heard a lot of rave about their matcha so I decided to walk down and try for myself! Iced Matcha with Cream: 5/5, Good quality matcha and paired well with the foam. I definitely could see the hype around it! The total came out to $8.82 ($6.50 Matcha + $1.50 Foam + Tax) which I thought was a bit on the steeper end for a 12oz matcha. For a grab-and-go coffee shop, I assumed that the service would be quicker. I ended up waiting 15 minutes for my drink on a Monday morning. I noticed that 3 people who ordered after me received their drinks before I did. Although the staff let me know that my drink was on the way, I still thought this was strange especially since someone after me had also ordered a matcha. Unfortunately, I don't know if I will be returning anytime soon due to the pricing and wait. I would much rather pay for matcha that had seating as well and be able to enjoy it while doing some work. I think it's a great concept for people who are looking to take a stroll down Myrtle with a cup of coffee. But if you are looking to try out Hideout, I would totally recommend their matcha!

I'm assuming because it isn't near the shopping areas of downtown, so it's not quite as bad. They have a designated parking area in the back of the coffee shop, but you can easily find parking on the street. We came on a Sunday morning and noticed all the seats being taken up inside. They have seats lined on the exterior of the perimeter of the store, too. The AC was blasting when we came, matching the cold, rainy temperature outside... we actually didn't end up staying here for long due to the that. When we were in line, we were able to peruse the merchandise that they had for display. Shirts, snacks, or drinkware. We also decided what items we had wanted from their menu. I was quite disappointed that they discontinued their mochi drink. I ended up getting their banana latte and my fiancé ordered their coffee coffee latte. We also ordered their beautiful dessert. Their banana latte was good but it truly tasted like an overripe banana; the type you put in your freezer to save for banana bread. I didn't quite like it. It was also topped with toffee bits, which gave the drink a new appeal. I think I preferred my fiancé's drink over mine. We ordered their Tropical Fruit dessert as well, which reminded me of the viral pastries I would see influencers eat. It had a crunch exterior made of chocolate with real mango chunks inside. It was mixed with passion fruit mousse and coconut crunch and sponge, like an almond joy bar. It was delicious but quite expensive to purchase. I'd love to try their other ones such as the Dubai chocolate one or their raspberry. Overall, the experience was quite decent. Their workers are very stressed and fixated on pumping out the drinks at a fast rate. I'd come back if I'm ever in the area, to try other drinks they have alongside their desserts.

The tortuga was a bit more spongy, fragrant, and nice balanced of sweetness. The alfajores were buttery, crisp and smeared with dulce de leche. I needed a bday cake and decided to order the strawberry shortcake, because it looked so pretty. The cake was a hit with the family. The frosting was super light, the filling is one layer of custard and the other of light whipped cream and berries. The sponge is moist, the cake is not sweet, but decadent in its creamy texture. If you are looking for their full breakfast menu, the Monrovia location down the street is where you would want to go! When I visited, they were celebrating their 1-year anniversary with an outside table of samplers. They had a balloon arch outside to signal to the community that they are celebrating something special as well. The lady out front shared with me what they had to offer, and she also mentioned that they do catering! I like my coffee strong but also on the sweet side. When I asked for the stronger option, I was recommended to get the cappucino rather than the latte and they can make the caffeine a little bit more concentrated without sacrificing the flavor. The cookies were a little dry for my taste but maybe it was because the samplers were sitting outside for a little too long. I would go back just to try the breakfast sandwich, but the experience of grabbing food was pretty fast and the food was flavorful enough! Excited to have a closer Cafe de Olla to me and wishing them so much success!
