3/16/26 Duke Bakery Arcadia, CA... Made a quick trip in here and got an Ube Custard Pastry and a Coffee Cake Roll. It turns out there are 3 mini restaurants in one in this building. Duke Bakery specializes in Pastries. Both pastries were really good. I purchased a Yogurt drink from Yokie Yogurt Arcadia to compliment the Duke Pastries. Will try the 3rd place Mama Noodle Liang Pi House on a future visit. Great Pastries!!! Service was a little tough here as the lady at the counter said she doesn't speak English. Tried to speak with the guy at the Mama Noodles, but he wasn't helpful either. The place was clean. No restroom. My friend with me was directed to buy a water when asking for a cup of water after she bought about 10 pastries. I loved the Ube Custard!!! Will give a 2nd chance by coming here in the future.

Parking: Small lot but parking is available. Was not crowded plaza Interior: Layout is similar to most Asian bakeries with circular set up to pick pastries from. Not a dine in place. There weren't samples when I at end of day but I think they do during the day. Wait Time: None Items Order: $10 bag end of day - Random bag of pastries (5-7 items) from the same day. Item total around $30 value. All in yummy condition. Pastries themselves were on the bready side like the fillings were very skimpy and the flavors were quite light like the taro bread and matcha bread

Overview: large selection and variety of flavors, affordable breads, soft textures ---- They had a pop-up in front of UCSD's Fan-Fan with their breads being $5 each and a couple of their items $6 including their bread loafs and the mochi bread pack of 5. ---- Taro Mochi Bread with Pork Sung $5: - big portion and a great bang for your buck - inside the soft purple bread is real taro root, mochi, and pork sung (pork floss) - balanced ratio of bread to fillings and it was stuffed fully Mochi Bread $6 for a bag of 5 - soft bread with a mochi filling - light on flavor with a great texture of soft bread and chewy mochi ---- Notes: - service was super friendly and helpful, Rain was amazing :D - haven't gone to their store, it was only an outdoor pop-up so not much ambiance. ---- Overall: with the softness of their breads and large selection of flavors, I can't wait to try out their stores if I'm ever in the LA area, service was fantastic and thanks for popping up in San Diego

When it comes to Asian bakeries, Dukes is definitely one of my favorites. Yes, the prices are a bit higher, but many of the breads are larger in size and I feel like they use healthier ingredients, which makes it worth it. I always end up picking some up to bring to family or friends when I'm visiting it's kind of become my go-to. One thing I really appreciate is that they usually have samples out for most of the breads, which helps if you're not sure what to get. That's a big plus in my book!

Duke Bakery in Arcadia offers a selection of unique, large, and fresh breads. ::Food:: The bakery specializes in a variety of breads with different flavors and textures. Each bread is distinct, featuring options like tuna cheese bread, pumpkin bread, sesame bread, Hokkaido red bean, and raisin walnut cream cheese. ::Dessert:: While the focus is mainly on bread, Duke Bakery also offers a small selection of desserts. ::Customer Service:: The service is just okay; you pay and go. ::"Meh" Moment:: Most of the time, the shelves are empty, and there isn't much bread or many desserts to choose from. ::M's Notes:: - Parking lot

Fresh fragrant bread, one of the best bakeries in Arcadia Temple City area. Staff could be friendlier though. A smile always does wonders.

Mama noodle topped with beef slices

Suprisingly i Went in for bread and left with dinner. I had no idea they served amazing food here. I had a sample of the mama noodles which are made in house, (from a kiosk that was serving small noodle samples for patrons),topped with some beef slices. These noodles are served with a savory tangy and spicy sauce topped with some veggies. 10 out of 10 would recommend. The worst part is when the dish ends

Taro Bread

The mouth feel was very good. The bread was very fresh and soft. It didn't make me disappointed.

This…read moretime we decided to try something different and picked up a fruit tart for a birthday to see how it compares to others in the area. The tart was a bit of a mixed experience but like in a good way. The crust was quite hard, where it was a bit tough to cut through cleanly. The fruit topping also felt a bit uneven like the peaches seemed like it came from a can, and the apples had a slightly off scent! The grapes were still on the branch, which looked nice visually but wasn't the easiest to pick. One thing that stood out was the structure of the tart. It seemed like there was an extra layer in the middle, almost like the top was baked separately and then added on..? Surprisingly, that gave it an interesting texture, with a soft, sponge-like layer that balanced out the harder crust. But I still appreciate this place for their consistent quality, and maybe another pie or cake may better hit the mark next time.

Instead, the vest the dog was wearing stated "Best Friend" almost like the owner was trying to trick others into thinking it was a "Service Dog" vest. The dog was walking around the bread and even sniffing the bread. The owner saw and even tried to swat her dog away from some Strawberry Halfmoons that the dog was sniffing. As someone who is allergic to dogs, what if they are the person who touches that bread next? What if the allergy is very severe? I walked around the premises to check if there were signs on the windows/doors talking about no pets, only service dogs. Only one entrance had the signs stating this. The other doors did not. As someone who is allergic to dogs, I do not understand how someone can just bring their pet into an establishment that serves food. The dog even went up to some customers and was sniffing their shoes. I even watched the dog go up to a little girl and try to take her doll. **4/1/26 UPDATE** To Katherine (the business owner): Yes, I know you allow SERVICE DOGS. However, this lady's dog was not wearing a vest stating it was a service dog. Also, I think service dogs know better than to try stealing little girls' dolls. That lady's dog was NOT a service dog. She was trying to TRICK people into thinking it was with the FAKE vest it was wearing. Please put more signs up around the different entrance doors.

Luckily the lady I spoke to suggested I call the JJ Bakery & Cafe in Temple City. Oh, I didn't know they are also in Temple City. Thank you Miss! I called here and spoke to a nice lady who took my cake order. Lucky again, they had the 8 inch Vanilla Chiffon Cake layered with taro, red bean, and custard pudding in stock. It was only $39.80 no tax. Cool! This location is in the Elm Center Shopping Center. Plenty of free parking. Got here early morning. Line was short. Staff was friendly and helpful. Got my cake. Paid for it and left. I didn't have much time to peruse the bakery to check out their baked goods nor did I get a chance to sit in the cafe area. Pretty cool that they have bakery + cafe combo. Most other JJ Bakery don't have this setup. I will have to return here to give them a bit more attention and take more photos. As for the cake, it was very pretty with lots of fresh fruits on top. There was a good amount of taro with a thin layer of custard pudding. Great taro flavor and taste. Custard pudding had the perfect sweetness. I didn't get much red bean though. I forgot to take photos of the inside of cake. I'll have to order it again and examine it more closely. Nevertheless, great cake choice especially for the taro lovers! I will soon be back to get the full experience of JJ Bakery & Cafe. Thanks!
