Egg tarts were good
Christy C.

This Chinese bakery is located on the second floor of the Santa Anita mall Parking is easy since there's plenty of parking but can be difficult especially on the weekends It's open daily - Mon-Sat - 10am-9pm - Sun - 11am-8pm [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is quite small but there is a good variety of pastries, cakes, and even drinks![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They're having a promo currently for their egg tarts - $1 each (must buy 6!) The egg tarts were pretty good for the price! The egg was very soft but I wish the crust was more crispy! The crust didn't taste like it was made from scratch and it reminded me of those premade crusts sold in markets. I enjoyed the tart wasn't too sweet and tasted good. Overall, it definitely wasn't the best egg tart I ever had but it was not bad for the price!

The staff at the Sunmerry bakery in Santa Anita mall are efficient, multitasking sweethearts. They bake pastries, answer the same questions over and over with undying patience, and ring up your purchase - all with a smile. I love coming to this location for their kind service. The pastries are great too! Don't sleep on the dollar Portuguese egg tarts and the breads and the pastries. I haven't had a baked treat there that I didn't fall in love with at first bite.

So many yummy pastries, cakes & mochi donuts to choose from! Make sure you sign up for their rewards program. Look out for their BOGO deals. This month 6/4-6/7 and 6/11-6/14 there's BOGO on their oolong collection (peach oolong, lychee oolong, oolong milk tea, osmanthus oolong tea or milk tea). If there's a line, it goes by quickly.

Friendly staff. Cute cakes tasty cakes. The tiramisu is very good and tasty. I would reccomend

Sunmerry Bakery is a well-known Asian bakery chain that specializes in Japanese and Taiwanese-inspired baked goods. This bakery is located within The Shop at Santa Anita mall. Beyond breads and pastries, they also offer Happy Lemon boba tea drinks, Thai iced tea, bubble waffles and many more. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is clean and well-organized, though it functions primarily as a "grab-and-go" location with no dedicated seating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff members are friendly and helpful. Baked goods are fresh, milky and fluffy as well as not too sweet. Our favorites are bolo buns, Brioche Loaf, and Pork Sung buns. Drinks are decent and not overly sweet too. Ample free parking is available in the mall parking, though the bakery shop is located deep within the mall, requiring a walk from the entrance.

We decided to check out this bakery while walking the mall. They had their $1 Portuguese egg tarts special. I highly recommend getting a few. The crust was flaky but chewy and didn't crumble. The egg custard filling was creamy and lightly sweetened. I only got one and regret not getting more. Service was easy as they handed you them in a container and then you paid at the counter. Great snack spot while at the mall.

This Sunmerry is located inside the Santa Anita Mall, which makes it a convenient stop when I'm out shopping. They offer all kinds of Asian breads, donuts, bagels, and cakes. They also have boba teas and my favorite--bubble waffles. The last time I was here, after purchasing a few items, I asked for a cup of water. The staff member said there would be a $0.50 charge for the cup. I hesitated because I didn't expect to have to pay for it, but in the end, he gave me one for free. That was very nice of him. For others, just keep in mind that they do charge for the cup if you ask for water. Currently, they're running a promo for $1 egg tarts, which is a great deal. So if you need a break from shopping, this is a nice spot to grab a quick boba fix and a sweet treat.

10/10 Mochi Matcha White Chocolate - WOW. I'm obsessed with these. I need more of these ASAP!! I'll be trying other flavors next time too. 8/10 Churro Twist - It's a yummy sweet treat but for me it was a little too bready. Cost - Mochi Matcha White Chocolate $3.00, Churro Twist $2.80.

Stopped by here to get some sweets! They had $1 tarts, that my friends really enjoyed. I got a vanilla roll slice, a cream puff and a cake bar thing. Everything was quick and easy. The staff was very polite

Love the selection of baked goods here. Everything was yummy! Staff are busy and have a no nonsense attitude. Their drink menu has some interesting items. They also have baked goods plushies! Will return to try them!

The strawberry green tea with black tea was yummy and it had lychee jelly. I'm glad the cashier was questioning if I really wanted a boba milk with dairy because I was gonna go for it even if I can't. He did mention they have drinks with no dairy. I went again and the girl also told me they had the coffee drinks they can switch the milk. I appreciate them for recommending other thins because if not I might have gotten sick. I got an espresso latte with almond milk and boba it was so tasty. The egg tarts are also delicious I tried the Neapolitan one and they did say it was more crunchy vs the Portuguese one--my favorite is still the Portuguese one :) Can't wait to try their cake rolls

I usually drink their milk teas and my aunt buys them from the Sunmerry at temple city, but I usually get baked goods from this one especially if there's a sale. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are located in the corner of the malls middle section, it's open wide so not much walls surrounding you and they display the baked goods so well that sometimes I feel like I have to get something.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a loyalty punch card with a free drink and luckily enough we were at the mall. It was close to closing time so they already shut off the coffee machines but the staff said they can make any other drinks for me. I ordered the iced matcha latte with boba and half sweet. The staff was very friendly and was patient with me trying to decide what to order. Luckily there wasn't a line so I was able to ask questions and make a decision. I got my drink just waiting a few minutes and the boba was still warm. Mixing it up, I took a sip and I could really taste the matcha. It was actually pretty sweet despite ordering it half sweet and the boba was super chewy, soft, and sweet. I really enjoyed the drink and would definitely like to order it again or another next time.

Regular at Sunmerry bakery. Highly recommended Sea Salt Jasmine Green tea with no sugar. Taiwanese Pineapple cake is really good, perfect balance of crust & not too sweet. Love the ice box crunchy chocolate but inconsistent -sometimes is not too sweet -another time is way too sweet. Please keep it consistent.

Can't beat the price of $1 Portuguese egg tarts. However, their barely even Portuguese. They're basically yellow only.

Super excited because the mini fruit tarts are going to look amazing on my newly purchased dessert tray! I was feeling a bit sleepy so I decided to fuel up & eat breakfast while I was there. I ordered a Vanilla Latte & a side order of 3 eggs + Sausage Links. If you're a big eater and want the additional potatoes and pancakes, I recommend paying a few dollars more and ordering the Breakfast platter. The Vanilla Latte came in a paper cup (a bit bummed out by not being able to take a more IG worthy picture of that), but it actually tasted really good! Same with the sausage links - it was probably one of the best tasting ones I've had for breakfast in a while. Aside from their wide selection of pastries and food options, their customer service was phenomenal. Every customer that walked through the door was greeted upon arrival and thanked on their way out. The restaurant was very clean and the cakes looked so beautiful behind the glass case. I had a pleasant experience today at Merengue Bakery & Cafe and can't wait to come back soon to try a slice of their chocolate cake!

It's fun here cuz you can get a little shopping cart and collect your breads. Kinda went crazy and got a bunch to try. The breads looked like they would be dry but weren't and were all really soft, pillowy, and fluffy. The Black Forest bread was topped with toasted almonds, had jiggly thick sweet custard, and a layer of semi sweet chocolate. The hades bread was the only kinda dry bread and was filled with bittersweet chocolate and had a thin sweet Oreo crust on the bottom like a cheesecake would. The pork floss bread had a swirl of sweet savory pork floss and was topped with nutty crunchy sesame seeds. The banana cream bread was filled with like this cheesecake tasting light cream and had some real bananas inside too. The garlic bread was really good, soft, and had a streak of yummy, savory, garlicy, cheesy goodness. They even had a cilantro pork floss cake?! Wasn't getting any cilantro flaves but the cake was nicely spongy, light, vanillay, and had a swirl of pork floss that actually worked with it. Their black sesame cake was also very spongy, jiggly, light, and airy with good black sesame flaves. They even let you try some free samples of bread which my grandma really enjoyed. Overall this place is pretty good. Black Forest $4.50 Hades $6 Pork floss $5 Banana cream $4.50 Garlic bread $4.50 Cilantro pork floss sponge $5 Black sesame sponge $3.75

Originally founded in JPN and later introduced to Taiwan, whereby it became a household name. This location is in San Gabriel Valley in a large corner shopping plaza. I have walked pasa by this bakery for ages but never had the chance to check it out until now. I walked-in and I did not see no difference between this and with other Asian Bakery style like 86 degree, JJ's or Phoenix bakeries. Same style, same layout, same prices, same service and same quality. But one thing I notice is the popularity of the brand to locals. Anyways, I tried their individually wrapped bread bakery such as tuna and chicken. Both were soft, tasty and satisfying to me mouth. Moreover, I ordered a Mango Green Tea because I was silently choking. My drink was refreshing, perfectly sweetened Mango purée and a life saver. Hehe. Their young female staff were cordial and professional. Prices were definitely competitive. Service was fast & efficient. Parking lot is huge.
