The staff seemed nice and the place was plenty busy, so I guess it didn't annoy anyone else. My daughter got her food the way she ordered it, which is good. I found the menu heavy on the goat cheese, mushrooms and truffle oil, so this is a good spot if you like those things. I found the attention to detail lacking. Minor things like the menus being a shade too wide for the holders, so you couldn't easily put them back after looking at them, misspellings like "flower" instead of "flour" on the ingredients for the quiche, little things. Already a fan of Republik Coffee in Pasadena, I couldn't pass up the chance to support their new Monrovia location. While it's a lot smaller than the Pasadena spot, it's packed with personality and the same smiling faces greet you at the door. There are a couple of small round tables inside and extra seating outside if you want to enjoy your coffee al fresco. Fun fact: Republik hand-makes all their syrups and even their almond milk! They also offer latte art classes, which is awesome. My husband and I have been interested in learning latte art for a while, so we jumped at the chance to try their Barista Basics class. I wish they would have more comfortable seating. I am so thrilled to live so close to downtown Monrovia to be able to enjoy all the local restaurants and cafes on weeknights and weekends. The area is so nice and everyone is so friendly. I bookmarked Republik Coffee for the longest time but haven't gotten around to waking up early enough on a "ME DAY" (no kids, no sports, no school events, no volunteering, most importantly no work) to stop by. Sunday morning @ 10:30am - I was lucky enough to find a parking spot right in the front of the restaurant so that was great! The line was out the door but it wasn't anything too crazy. I had actually contemplated in ordering the full breakfast for my review. It was actually only $18 so totally inexpensive but I simply don't think I could eat the sides of potatoes, toasts and even an avocado. Love this new location! There's a super cute back patio so make sure to check it out. It's a smaller space as compared to the one in Pasadena . But the more intimate setting creates a more noisy and energetic atmosphere. This is my 3rd time here since soft opening and the food quality is on par with the other 2 locations ! Really enjoyed my visits to Republiq Coffee! The pistachio latte was excellent -- smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet. You could actually taste the pistachio flavor without it being artificial or overpowering. Definitely something I'd order again. The mushroom brie toast was also a standout. It was generously topped with mushrooms (which I appreciated!) and paired really well with the creamy brie. It felt substantial and satisfying, not skimpy like some café toasts can be. The other food have been beautifully presented and tasty. There was a long line when we arrived, which seems to be pretty common here, but it moved steadily. Visited Republik coffee today for the first time which is the latest edition to the Monrovian high street experience. Actually I had no intention of stopping by as I'd already hit the El Diablo taco restaurant on the same street, so I was rather full after my taco-styled breakfast. Nonetheless there's always a good walk that will shake off the effects of a few tacos. So what attracted me to the Republik coffee house? I think it was the line waiting to place their order and the fact this was new so I decided to join in to get the experience. The cafe has a rather skinny look to its floor plan although they also have an outside patio experience which is at the rear of the cafe. Despite the waiting time (10mins) I ordered a latte and an almond cake. The coffee experience was really good-- they serve their coffee in a nice cup and saucer which always makes the coffee taste even better in my opinion. Their beans have (I believe) an Ethiopian aroma which is a strong lasting flavor. Republik also has an extensive food and drinks menu -- enough to fit most people's expectations. Actually, I think I need to go back and try the breakfast as I saw a few people tucking into this dish which made me feel hungry again! Overall the experience was good -- maybe a little challenged on the floor space but overall a good adventure! read more

The space feels bright and welcoming, and the service is pleasant and friendly. It's a nice spot to catch up with a friend, though it gets loud and echoey, so it's not the best place to study or work for long stretches. Parking isn't the easiest, you'll likely need to find street parking on Myrtle or use the public lot on Lemon. We ordered the rose matcha latte and pistachio latte. The rose matcha uses ceremonial grade matcha and their in-house almond milk (which is really good), but the overall flavor is very mild. After the first sip, it mostly tastes like lightly flavored almond milk -- the rose and matcha aren't strong or concentrated enough. I noticed they pour matcha from a premade bottle rather than whisking it fresh, which could explain the muted flavor. The pistachio latte is similar. I can barely taste pistachio, though you can see real blended nuts at the bottom, which I appreciate. What was formerly Sunday's Old Town Bistro in Monrovia is now Republik! I came by here after lunch with a friend, so we didn't order anything to eat, but picked up drinks to enjoy. They have some yummy looking pastries and their menu includes some toasts, bowls, and sandwiches, as well as a couple special entrees available only on weekends. They did a nice job of remodeling the space to make it feel spacious and modern. There are a few seats indoors and a cute outdoor patio. I ordered the hot Purple Caramel Latte, my friend wanted the Sea Salt Hazelnut Cappuccino, but was told that they don't have anymore hazelnut and actually that item is no longer being offered. Not sure why they left it on the menu... so she just ordered a cappuccino. I enjoyed the latte, it was very tasty and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her cappuccino. They were out of the Brazil cold brew, so I settled for the house cold brew, blueberry almond cake and a side of scrambled eggs. I had an adequate experience at Republik Coffee (Monrovia). I ordered the Pistachio Latte ($7 - Iced). It's espresso with roasted pistachio syrup and pistachio crumbles. Its caffeine is weak like a Starbucks' mocha. This coffee did not wake me up. I arrived at Republik Coffee (Monrovia) on Tuesday (around 12:40PM). This afternoon, parking felt challenging despite the many options. Lines of cars were competing to take spots for the lunch rush. There's a rear public parking lot that's fairly huge, but it took several minutes of scanning until finding an available parking space. Staff is very professional, friendly, and hardworking. Staff (receipt says Claudia) answered all of my questions with a smile. Claudia even provided concern when she spotted me counting electrical outlets for this review. "Did you lose something, Ian?" she'd inquired. It's even more impressive that she remembered my name despite the nonstop flow of guests. My drink took two minutes and 17 seconds. Good pace! As mentioned, the Pistachio Latte ($7 - Iced) left me sleepy and literally yawning. It's more comparable to pistachio milk tea than coffee. It felt very casual and commercialized for customers that dislike coffee. The pistachio latte is a little too milky, but I appreciated the real bits of pistachio. The ambiance at Republik Coffee (Monrovia) is horrible for study and work. It's loud like a nightclub!! The loud sound system made everything vibrate; the location's acoustics were echoey, so chatter was amplified; and the cramped interior forced customers to hear the clanking from the counter. In addition, I counted only three accessible electrical outlets in Republik Coffee (Monrovia). Fortunately, there's customer internet with password; the details are on the printed receipt, and they're displayed by the counter. There's also a gender neutral restroom and a self-service water station. This location has numerous tables despite the limited space. There's nine interior tables, ten patio tables, and a few tables in front. It's also fairly clean, but its floors appeared unswept. At the very least, the tables sparkled. However, if visiting, the most aesthetically pleasing location will be the rear patio. The green lush wall will make a pretty photo. Overall, I left Republik Coffee (Monrovia) underwhelmed.
